This is a very old building, that should be either completely remodeled or torn down. How this hotel gets a high rating for anyone makes no sense. It is a very low budget place on the level of a dirtbag hostel. I would never go back. They don’t even make coffee in the restaurant. It comes to you with a cup of hot water and some instant. I actually left after the first night, even though I had paid for two.

I love its location because it's accessible and just a few meters away from the night market. :)
Their staf are all very friendly and helpful. We were aloud to park our car overnight when we had to go gensan on another vehicle.
The rooms are outdated but very clean. 2 bottles of water, shampoo and soap were provided.

The place was good but I am not satisfied with the second room that i had booked for m mother and my nieces. I booked a family room but it was ended of a twin bedroom. My mothers room AC was not working properly I'm a bit disappointed. The service was good ,the hotel staff was friendly and was very accommodating,during the breakfast time we encountered someone who stayed at the hotel too she told us we are not allowed for the buffet breakfast because its only for them. But its OK we can handle the situation. Good job and Have a good day!!!

I stayed at ALU Hotel because it was the venue of the Training-Workshop on Mixed Methods Research that I attended. Air conditioning is okay. The room is generally comfy. TV reception is good. The bathroom though is not spacious. Wifi is available but at times the speed is slow. The hotel staff are courteous and accommodating.

Great place to stay and great service

My daughter and I enjoyed our stay at Alu Hotel .The location is very convenient. The rate is affordable. Free Breakfast is good . I like the information book provided in the room . It is well written and very informative. It gave us ideas on where to explore in Davao. WiFi is great in our room . The front desk staff , other staff are very accommodating to our needs. Ryan is very helpful . I reserved a birthday party for my daughter in their function room. The service was good . I will definitely come back and stay at Alu Hotel again .

Great Hotel Experience

Me and my husband had a great time staying at ALU Hotel. The staff were very accommodating. We had no issue or trouble checking in despite the fact that we had a super late checked-in time (1:00 am) because of the delayed flight. Food was also good and the location of the place was a big plus. Just right outside of the Hotel is the famous Roxas Boulevard where the night market is located. We definitely enjoyed the night market and we don't have to walk very far or ride a car just to get there.

Hotel staffs are excellent. Free breakfast are very satisfactory. This hotel is perfect for the value I paid. My husband and I enjoyed staying in this hotel pretty much; good food; hotel staffs are cordial, honest, always at your service anytime and whatever you need. Service is amazing. The only tradeoff is the linens are little bit old and smelly but this is compensated by the great food for free breakfast and quick, honest service by the staffs. Our overall stay is quite enjoyable and we will keep coming back to stay in this hotel whenever we visit Davao. I will definitely recommend Alu Hotel for practical minded guests!

REMARKABLE STAY AT ALU HOTEL

Hotel is located on prime location and nearby shopping area. Service of the staff is excellent, prompt and very polite. The continental breakfast was also very good and restaurant area was also very neat and clean and very hygienic. Overall lunch and dinner were also good and affordable to pocket too. When I was stayed there, at that time they are changing their elevation, but it must be nice and attractive.
I strongly recommend to stay this hotel as it is very good, clean, food is hygienic, and true value for money.

Room size is ok but the washroom is quite small. It has its own restaurant on the main floor. Buffet breakfast is provided but nothing spectacular about it. Selection includes corned beef, hard boiled eggs, hotdogs and rice.

The hotel is about 15 to 20 minute walk from People's Park and steps away from the night market. There are a few eateries around the area as well.

We were pleased with the staff of the hotel, from the security guard all the way to the Front desk. They were all very helpful in giving us directions whenever needed. We hired the hotel van for 8 hours as we wanted to go to the Philippine Eagle Centre and Malagos Resort. Our driver was equally friendly and professional.

Furniture were old, room is dated, water heater wasn't working, complimentary breakfast had small portions. You get what you pay for. Pay a bit more, and get a better hotel than this.

On the plus side, the staff was really attentive.

A BEAUTIFUL HOTEL RIGHT ON THE NIGHT MARKET STREET

We arrived at about 5pm, and were checked in really fast. we requested for rooms near the elevator since we were travelling with a senior citizen and a toddler and we got it! our rooms were right in front of the elevator. the rooms were classy in design and will never get outdated i believe. our toddler was really happy with the room and jumped on the beds like a monkey, she wouldn't like to roam the city and likes to just stay in the room!

A Scrimping Hotel

My 9-day stay at ALU was a bummer. The two front-desk ladies -- one in the morning shift and the other evening shift -- were basically uncommunicative. They spoke poor English, their good mornings half-hearted, and seldom smiled. Breakfast was inadequate, wanting, not much variety. It was as if they were trying to cut corners, to scrimp and save at all costs.

Good place reasonably priced with excellent custom

The hotel is not a luxury hotel but its comfortable. The staff is excellent. Every is very friendly and treats you with respect like a customer should be treated. The rooms are not new but they are clean. Around the.corner is.mambini bbq which is very cheap and very good. Right across the street is a place with fresh fish and other meats like chicken grilled. It's also very good all within a couple of blocks. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. It priced cheap and it's clean. They also give you a free breakfast with your stay.

Better than expected

I booked for standard double room. I paid for 1 extra guest. When I checked in there is no extra bed I do not know for what is the money I paid for, they do not provide extra bed. When I checked out they said I will pay break fast for the extra guest. Terrible! I paid for extra guest and billed me already for extra guest and yet they do not provide anything.

It gets the job done

Room has no odors, but welcomes bugs. Bathroom window always open, has AC which is ok. The bathroom was disappointing big time. Shower was a joke, bucket and water is included. I stayed here cause of the unbearable heat but for the price I was definitely disappointed. I expected more from this location.

The staff were nice, the food was ok. I will say it just gets the job done and thats it.

our stay is horrible for numerous false fire alarms, aircondition unit is at worst, while their free complimentary meal is redundant for tocino. for 5 days stay what they offer almost the same and if you wish to buy in their menu list all of them is not available. However approved for friendly staff. Not good to reccomend to others.

Great good service at check in and reception staff, are very welcoming. The dining area and free breakfast was great though my order of drink was served wrong twice but corrected. Fast WiFi in our room and in the main floor. Great location of the hotel close to banks, shopping centres, souvenir stores and there's a night market of street food, used clothing and shoes along Roxas st. BUT there was a lapse of the hotel's housekeeping about our bed linens. The pillowcases were old, inside pillowcases' zipper is broken (as there are two pillowcases in one pillow) though not a big deal for me. The bed pad was obviously not washed and changed as there were like a watermarks? I took a pic n showed it at the reception The night we arrived from the tour the bedlinens n the bed pad were changed and clean. Heads up to the management to inspect the bed linens before turning over to the guests the keyroom and also to the guests to inspect the cleanliness of the bedlinens on the first night before sleeping on it, thank you to the dining staffs, I should have gotten your names, for offering me water to drink when you guys saw me and my husband come from outside perspiring profusely (this happened on our check out day on Tuesday morning of March 22, need to say the date to identify the kindhearted dining staffs, again thank you.

checked in without any hassle . . . restaurant is very clean. staffs were all nice . . . our room was at 504 (king size bed), we had a toddler with us, my mom went down for breakfast so i was left alone with the child and was still sleeping. the child opened the french window and there was no grills at all. can u just imagine what would have happened if the child climbed the bed into the window... but overall, our stay was great.

It's an okay hotel if you want something cheap and simple. The lobby looks fantastic, the rooms are simple. We had no hot water at first, but they switched it on after we complained. Posted no smoking in rooms or hallways but we smelled smoke very strong while going to the room so it's not managed well. Staff is kind however and the simple breakfast is adequate for a quick morning snack. Charged for refill on coffee which isn't cool.

We booked 3 rooms and stayed for 2 nights. The hotel is conveniently located at the center of Davao City. The staff are very accommodating and the food is ok.Personal necessities are not provided inside the room but cold and hot water is available 24/7 along the corridor.

It was Good. Service is okay a little late responses in requests. And the bath towels at first it was odorless but second day stay we request to clean up towels smelly.
And the Aircon in Rm#412 is not getting cooler than expected. Thank You!!!!

overall stay is OOOOKKKK

will surely return to this hotel. we were able to checkin as early as 9AM with no fuss.. our room is wide and clean - altho never once the housekeeping clean it after checkin, got free breakfast delivered to our room, free wifi, also once we had our dinner at the rooftop got nice view of the sea and streets and houses.. then at night you can just stroll outside and they have the street lined up with stalls of bbq, street foods and bargain clothes, slippers and even shoes!

Davao visit 2015

My stay was great. Overall experience was totally satisfied. The only thing that could be adjusted was the fact that if you leave food out the ants will come into your room. The internet WiFi would go in and out but did work well. Looking forward to my next visit there. Definitely recommend this hotel for the price.
