Really nice hotel and in a great location just 45 mins from Calais. The room was great and overlooked fields and had a really nice balcony. Dinner was great and the wine choices were good too. The pool was amazing, just what was needed after a long drive. Everything was extremely clean and very well looked after. Lovely stay

Fabulous hotel

We stayed at this hotel on the last night of our week long trip to France/Belgium. We primarily chose it for it's location to both Poperinge and Ypres but also distance to Calais.
We could not fault this hotel at all.
The family who run the hotel were really friendly, the bed comfortable, breakfast was great and the food in the restaurant was delicious.
We did not use the pool or sauna only because we did not pack any swimwear but it looked lovely.
From the outside when you park up this hotel gives an impression of being ordinary but once you step through the door the hotel is anything but ordinary. The decor and layout are lovely.
If you are looking for a lovely place to relax, have a good nights sleep and great food in lovely surroundings then I would highly recommend this hotel.

What an amazing family run hotel, we highly recommend this hotel if visiting the area. The staff/owners were so helpful and friendly. The room was tastefully decorated and had every amenity you could wish for. The hotel exceeded our expectations. It has a great restaurant serving wonderful food and an extensive wine list.
We will definitely stay here again.

An overnight stay

Lovely place but found it slightly difficult to find. Wasn’t aware it was near a main road but didn’t really matter. Very clean.
Only issue was the room was too hot. Window opened but didn’t cool it down. Really could do with AC or at least a fan.
Difficult to park as a cycling team had taken over everywhere outside!
Breakfast wasn’t bad and the owner was very friendly.

Family run hotel, makes you feel welcome

Really nice friendly family run hotel. we stayed for two nights on a bike trip to watch TdF. Bikes stored in underground locked car park and locked away, which was great.

We ate in first evening and food was superb, breakfast buffet was good and plentiful, bread was awesome.

Rooms had great views over the farm land, clean/smart and comfortable.

Has a pool and nice garden area, as well as a roof terrace.

The family where very helpful and made you feel welcome.

The hotel was bigger than we had imagined but is in super condition.

parking is ample and we will go back in September.

Arrived very late so had to find the best way in but was clearly signed so nice & easy! Lovely friendly welcome & shown to the room which was warm clean & modern. I didnt make it to breakfast in the morning although it looked plentiful! Would stay again if in the area.

Lovely hotel. Great breakfast. Our room unfortunately overlooked a busy road and a factory with a noisy machine all night. We had the window open because it was hot so my sleep suffered from the noise! A shame because the hotel was otherwise very good!

Wonderful hotel, wonderful staff, great breakfasts. Staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. English spoken fluently. Hotel location was perfect for exploring the area by personal vehicle. We weren't so it was a considerable amount of extra taxi time to get to lepers and most of the WWI battle fields, cemeteries, and monuments. Here again the hotel staff was wonderful in helping us get around and finding good tour guides. You'll miss a grand opportunity if you don't stay here while visiting Flanders.

Personal service in a clean modern hotel

Personal service from check in to departure. Given a tour of the hotel and its facilities and shown to our room. Bar serves an excellent range of local beers, which can be enjoyed whilst fussing the hotel dog. Didn't eat here, seemed rather pricey but looked great. Extremely clean, comfy room, nice countryside view. Not much around the local area, a car is a must.

Excellent home from home ( better than !)

This is a real find. Excellent accomodation, with swimming pool, terraces and great food and drink. It's near Poperinge, about 15 minutes for Ypres but close to historical sites, including Lisjennthoek military cemetery with an excellent museum and Talbot House in Poperinge, the most moving memorial to man's humanity in wartime, staff at Callecanes are professional, friendly and helpful. Couldn't fault it.

This was a great hotel with a fantastic restaurant, the pool was lovely and very comfortable, big family room with a fridge. Location great for visiting Ypres and the surrounding WWI sites. Facilities better than expected for a 3-star hotel, very impressed. Not great for restaurants/nightlife but that didn't matter for us.

Explore the real countryside

Wonderful location between Belgium and France - so much to see within a short drive. Best of all the hotel was an oasis - great food and wine, clean rooms, fresh air and a very relaxed feel. Beautiful pool and lots of countryside to explore. The restaurant was family run and had a great menu - great variety sand very relaxed and efficient service. Highly recommended - we were able to do our family history visits to the Flanders Fields, shop in Lille for french fashion and enjoy delicious fresh food every night - close to Calais and the crossing between Europe and the UK.

Peace in the countryside with style

Rural setting away from the crowds but close enough to venture out to nearby towns e.g. Ypres, Poperinge and historical sites re. WW1. Very friendly family run hotel. Very clean and comfortable with a warm welcome. Looks more like a 4 or 5 star hotel. Would definitely go back.

stayed there in early January. pool was lovley ,warm and we had it to ourselves; however we were told the sauna was `private`...thought that was included in the price? guess they don`t want to fire it up for just 2 people.. fair enough but there ought to be a small reduction in price to reflect this...?

We stayed in the family room which was a decent size and very clean and well equipped. My daughter enjoyed the swimming pool. Also had breakfast and dinner in the hotel which were both excellent. A family run hotel where the service was very good. A 20 minute drive to Ypres.

I liked the hotel very much it was clean, quiet and the owners or mangers were really nice.
However at e120 it seemed a little pricey for the level of the room although to be fair the Hotel offered things like a swimming pool which was of no interest to me but might add value to others the rate included breakfast which was fine but was not that great I would rather have benefited from a cheaper rate

wonderful break

this was a lovely short break we took on the motorbike, Staff were very friendly I would highly recommend this hotel. Even though this hotel is slightly out of the way don't let this put you off, it was a very relaxing break. The swimming pool was a welcome sight after a day on the bike. The food was excellent as was the bill at the end of our stay.

Four Great Days

Came to Ieper to commemorate 100th anniversary of my great uncle's death. Hotel outside Poperinge so was a good base for visiting various locations. Easy access from Dunkirk. Hotel was superb. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was spotless and very modern. Hotel even provides a free towel when you use their heated indoor pool. Recommend this hotel

Great Hotel!!

A really great hotel - although the location is interesting.....right on the France/Belgium border crossing...literally!! We arrived later than expected but the hotel was more than happy to provide dinner for us. The food was great, the service brilliant.....and the location was ideal for us to explore the battlefields which was the purpose of the trip!! The triple room we had was great for 2......but would have been \"cosy\" for three!! It had great amenities - including free Wi-Fi and British TV channels. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would certainly go back again!!

Great place!

We were greeted by very friendly staff and our room for three was large, comfortable and well equipped. There was also a great view over the fields as far as the eye can see. We arrived late so' unfortunately, didn't really have time to take advantage of the lovely indoor swimming pool (open until 10.30pm). All in all, we had a fabulous stay and would definitely go back.

We had the family quad room which was spacious and comfortable. The bonus was the fantastic pool which we used in the evenings.

Great hotel for area tours

Hotel is a little off the beaten path but is new, very clean and quiet and close by several places we wanted to visit. Family run hotel, they really made us feel welcome. We stayed two nights and ate breakfast both days. They have a bar and restaurant. We mainly visited the area for Belgian breweries (St. Sixtus, St. Bernardus and de Struise all within 10-15 min drive). Also several war memorials in same area. Would definitely stay again if in the area, great hotel!

Overall, a comfortable and enjoyable stay, with pleasant and helpful hosts. The place was spotless, and the location very convenient for our trip to the military cemetery. We noticed a swimming pool under construction, which will be an additional plus for us - we would certainly stay here if we return to the area.

Comfortable but not what I had hoped would be. a country house hotel in a country village. It is essentially a modern business stop over hotel within striking distance of Ypres which is where we wanted to visit.

Everything we asked for was referred to the manager, such as an extra pillow or to come down to breakfast without first confirming our intent to do so.

That said, it was clean and comfortable but not warm and welcoming.

This family run hotel is very welcoming . The rooms are basic,with good storage space. The showers were also powerful and everything was clean.We ate in the restaurant at night and the food was good with children were well catered for.The hotel is situated right at the Belgium/French border just off the motorway and has an outlook over the road leading to Poperinge, at the front.There are fields to the rear . This is good base for visiting 1st world war memorials.

Hotel Callecanes clean, comfortable & welcoming

The only downside to this hotel has to be its position, between a lorry park and a garage. However we had a back room overlooking farm land which was extemely peaceful.
I would not hesitate to recomend this hotel for a one night stop before going to more interesting environs or to or from the feryy terminals which are conveniently close.
The restaurant was a little slow but the food was excellent. Breakfast too was good.

Ideal base for France/Belgium border

Located at the old border crossing this is a newly furbished (to a high standard) hotel. The service was first class and dinner in the restaurant meant there was no need to seek out alternative eating establishments when tired from a day touring the old battlefields, Away from the bar was a bright spacious lounge for those wanting a quieter place to relax of an evening without the need to return to your own room.

The owners spoke good English and were most helpful.

Nice alternative to stopping in Calais

I normally stop in Calais before my european road trips. This time I thought I would try a hotel just in to Belgium. This hotel was easy to get to from Calais and turned out nicer than it looked from the pictures. The building is very nicely styled and very modern and very clean and tidy. The location is a bit strange as it is the old French / Belgium border post but I thought this was quite interesting. There is a lorry park close by but when you are in the hotel you would not know. The view from the rear of the hotel is open fields and probably first world war battle area. ( Ypres is not far way . The rooms are quite basic but clean and have a nice style. I only had breakfast but the food was great. I liked this hotel and would use again.

We were really impressed with this hotel, although it doesn't look much from the outside due to it's location, the interior is really modern and the owners (who always seemed to be around) were the most helpful I've ever come across.

Our room had a fantastic view over the fields behind the hotel and was fantastically fitted out inside.

Le plus de cet hôtel est la belle piscine et son sauna. Hôtel perdu au milieu des champs de maïs et de betteraves, idéal pour ceux qui aiment le calme et la nature. Voiture indispensable, la ville de Poperinge est à 10 km. La ville et son musée du houblon méritent une visite. La frontière française est à quelques pas, avec tout le charme des villes et villages des Flandres.

Deux nuit à Callecanes

Nous avons passé deux nuits à Callecanes, lieu-dit éponyme sur la commune de poperinghe, en Belgique, limitrophe de la France.
L'hôtel situé dans une zone d'activité ne paie pas de mine vu de l'exterieur: on a l'impression d'une construction en plusieurs phases, un peu hétéroclite. Ce qui rend la circulation à l'intérieur un chouia labyrinthique.
Mais quel confort! L'établissement est doté d'installations ultramodernes. Design épuré et dans la veine regionale (briques apparentes ...). Il comporte des installations de détente (piscine, fitness) au top.
On ne peut que recommander.
