Tanya at Reception is bilingual so if you need Inglis pick her. It's easier to pay cash for the restaurant as opposed to signature to the room. They just don't get that, and if they do, it doesn't always work. Service staff are also smarter than me language wise. Rooms are fine, remember it's a 3+ star place. Not all electric plugs are grounded, plan accordingly. The AC and the hot water performed as expected. Earplugs are always good for the national neighbors. The pool is popular, with towels and dressing rooms available to guests. The grounds are patrolled and parking is secured, you can leave the clubs in the car. All in all, we always enjoy our stay here.

I was not satisfied with the cleanliness in one of the bedrooms we were assigned. The sheets were dirty and there were dirty cotton swabs in between the sheets. The toilet had so much dust accumulated, who knows when it was the last time they cleaned.

It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a meal or coffee while soaking in the local atmosphere and people-watching.

The hotel also features a swimming pool, which appeared clean and well-maintained, though I didn’t have the chance to use it. It’s a great perk for those looking to cool off and unwind.

The staff were unfriendly, also even if you are a guest you will not be allowed to eat ypur own food (snacks, small meals) by the pool. You will get treated like a criminal for doing so!

I’ve stayed here in the past many times. But hadn’t been back in a couple of yrs tell recent trip. The staff is excellent. The buffet selection has gone down &’less things available to choose from. The biggest issue was everytime we used the shower. The water was backing up and would go on the bathroom floor.
Hotel needs to invest in fixing plumbing and drain system.

The place is dirty, very old and run down. The A/C in the room did NOT work. Colima is a hot humid tropical state so you can imagine that it was a horrible night. They have extremely old furniture, very uncomfortable pillows and mattresses. Extremely noisy. Just a very old creepy feeling hotel due to lack of maintenance and remodeling. They charge expensive for a very poor quality hotel.

The property is old, we have problems with the Internet and you cannot make local calls from your room, you have to go to the Front Office to be able to make a call even if it is a local call. The restaurant is in terrible condition, we only ordered lunch once and it took more than two hours to deliver it.

When we arrived at 7 pm it is as we had not made any Booking..took them 30 min to give us the worst possible room at the very end of the parking lot (as we requested downstair my wife being slightly handicapped)
This section looking abandoned, there was no lights in the lobby leading to the room, we had only one access electronic card.. so no cooling of room
when we returned after " dinner"
Bathroom terrible, no shower head support at normal height..only one small lavabo no place to guard toiletries etc..
Toilet was exceptionally low
No handy extension to charge telephone , the only we found at floor level, going extinct when lights off..we woke up with empty batteries on our phones
No handicap access to the restaurant, etc...

in addition we were overcharged
for two rooms we paid total of MX 3360 equivalent to US203.63 (rate 16.50) instead of confirmed rate of $190.44

This hotel is definitively not worth that price !!!! especially since the reception was making the least possible effort....FYI i come to this hotel since the earlier 1970 and speak perfect Spanish, so it was not a question of miscommunication.

Feels like a prison

Positives: The hotel is old and showing signs of age, but it is clean and well kept up. The restaurant has good food and is reasonably priced. The location is in a great part of the city with many dining options nearby.

Negatives: The room rate has increased by $750MX in one month. Management is now requiring all guests AND their visitors to wear an arm bracelet. When my friend came by to have a drink, they demanded his ID before they would let him in, called me on the room phone to let him in, and they insisted he wear a hospital type bracelet. They would not let me leave the property until they sent someone to inspect my room, and then they lied and said this is done to make sure I did not forget anything. The gate would not be opened for me to leave until they had their inspection.

This is a charming old hotel, but their behavior made my stay unpleasant. It feels like a prison. It should be noted that other similar hotels in the same part of town do not treat their guests in this manner. I will not be back.

We loved the pool. The hotel is beautiful, rooms are spacious. What we didn’t like is the smell in the bathroom, it smelled like old smelly pipes; we had to keep door closed. Other than that, we recommend this hotel and we would stay again.

The property was very nice and the pool area was beautiful. We had breakfast in the restaurant and it was very good.
The room was a bit lacking. We had upgraded an executive room however the couch was in bad condition and we couldnt sit on it. We had no hot water, no safe, no coffee pot in the room and no mini refridgerator. Dont let them put you in a room in the 500's because we were right on the busy blvd. and very noisy. Good place for families with kids, but dont think we will return.

I had some issues with a person smoking in the property. The smoke went into our room. Unfortunately not everyone follows the rules. They moved us to another room. I had to leave on Friday, March 20 earlier than expected. what can I do? I have 4 days paid.

They admit to lying but wont make it right

It was okay until we checked out. They overcharged us. I asked for an explanation and they said becausewe asked for an upgrade and they told me the upgrade price,whichis right, I pointed out she had just admitted a price that was different to what was on my checkout invoice and that is what i was contesting the extra price, she said because son was 15 so even though it was a room for 4 people, they could charge me more. When asked why she didn't tell us this at the beginning during check in she said: "i dont have to tell you that information". She then went on to blame who we used as a 3rd party booking because we didn't book directly with them. When I said we used Hotels.com she said the price for a 15 year old would be different there too. I told her No because we enter the kids ages when we do booking and there was no price change. Even when she admitted to giving me a price and then admitting that she didn't have to tell me of the extra charge she said she was right. My recommendation, pay in advance your booking, I usually do this, but this time I did the pay at the hotel. Because of this, it makes it easier for them to scam you by changing the price.

The staff was amazing, the pool is great, and the gym in phenomenal. However, on our 3rd day we killed multiple roaches in our room, which is unacceptable. The staff was nice enough to provide us with a new room. And there were no incidents or roach sightings after that. Hotels.com was not helpful in resolving the issue or providing help with the solution.

Great service from beginning to end. Beautiful pool, good restaurant, reasonable laundry service. Private security on-site with very controlled in and out vehicle traffic. They won't even let pizza be delivered to your room for security. Affordable massage onsite as well. Great location near shopping, laundromat (1/2 mile away), atms and Starbucks.

We enjoy the kids pool area as a family you always look for what is going to entertain the kids.
I do want to mention I’ll never go back to Maria Isabel Hotel
I had my father visit me. And they didn’t let him in he was just coming to say good bye. We rent the grand master suit for 5 days and I was expecting better customer service also on my last day they cut the water we were not able to take shower we had to go to another hotel. Horrible

When in Colima jump in the pool

This place is a popular spot for families travelling to Colima. It is a small town with few touristic destinations compared to the better recognized city of Manzanillo. The hotel offers a great pool to cool off during the hot weather season (most of the year) and the food deviates very little from what you will find in any other local restaurant. Beds are comfortable and the fact the rooms have AC at a reasonable price (half of the price for a room in the nearby 3-star hotel) makes this location a must when in the area
