Since the hotel did the renovation, it has become quite terrible:
nothing works in the rooms, the power sockets, the water in the bathtub and sink doesn't go away.
They have small posters in the bathroom saying the hotel is going green to avoid single use plastic, but they don't have places to re fill water to drink, therefore they give you plastic water bottles in the lobby (contradictory).
the rooms have very dim light.
I use to love this hotel, but you can tell they are not putting much attention into it.
won't be coming back.

Room was ready when we arrived around 12pm which was great. Hotel is located in a great location - Itaewon, close to station as well. Rooms are clean and fine. Staff were friendly and spoke English. I enjoyed staying here.

As it turns out, Itaewon is a great party area, and this hotel is located only a few blocks from the nightlife scene which also means you avoid the noise. Reviews for the Hamilton hotel literally in the nightlife area complain of late night noise. Had no noise issues here. Very nice, renovated clean rooms w excellent service. Most importantly the AC was excellent. I'll never travel to Seoul in August again. The humidity is brutal. Only criticism is the dark hallways which is just a downer vibe. FYI the sports channels start at 100 which i mostly watched bc you don't really need to know Korean. Also, channel 53 plays kpop.

Nice Boutique Hotel in Formerly Fun Area

Overall, the stay was nice. Clean hotel, amazing helpful/knowledgeable front-desk. The sheets could have been softer and might have been nice to have an iron/ironing board in the room. The gym was decently equipped for a small hotel.

If you need to be in Itaewon, this hotel should be on your short list. My first visit back to Korea in 7 years and post-pandemic, I'd highly recommend exploring other areas to stay. Lots of closed/empty stores, and the best restaurants are gone--there are a few clubs still open, but this area seems like a shadow of itself. Didn't feel unsafe, just eerily empty.

Hotel is easy to locate and accessible. But the hotel itself is outdated, hallway from
elevator to room is dark. Room is dusty, the mouldy smell will welcome you upon entering the room. There is water leak in the cr the time we check in the room, although the staff address it quickly, still uncomfortable for us, coming from the long trip and expecting to have a relaxing room upon arrival, instead it give us more stress. Also no available food to order in the hotel or in the nearby areas in late night time, since we arrive like 8pm from airport, waiting hours for the leak cr to be fix, and sleep hungry because no food to order. But all the staff are commendable, they are helpful and quick in action.

It was really clean, very well designed in my opinion and the staff was extremely polite and caring. Even held my luggage after checkout when my flight back was at night .
I will definitely recommend to stay here if you want to stay in Itaewon. Very close to a lot of foods, clubs and bus stops/ Subway stations are also walking distance.

Imperial palace was our home for 2 weeks while we stayed in Seoul and I’m beyond happy with this choice. It was near the subway (Itaewon station) and was easy to get anywhere in the city from there. The nightlife on the weekends were lively but the party areas were far enough from the hotel that it didn’t disturb us. Very clean part of town and safe. Lots of shopping nearby with lots of restaurants at a walkable distance. The trail to hike up to the Namsan tower is close, as well. The hotel itself was very clean and well kept with swanky vibes and moody lighting. The staff was super accommodating and friendly! Would definitely stay here again! By mid trip, we started referring to it as “home”.

Very easy to find, short walk from subway. Modern, stylish, clean and quiet. The neighborhood has many cute cafes, restaurants and shops. I’d stay there again. They also allowed you to leave your luggage for free later pickup on the day you check out so you could enjoy your last day in Seoul if your flight was later in the day. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Beautiful hotel! Staff were very friendly and helpful. However the room we had were not entirely cleaned. For those who have severe dust/feather allergies, please do let the desk know before you arrive, they do use top on the line feather bedding as priority. We did have card issues several times but other than that, the location is great!!

It was near the mosque and many halal food restaurants. We used the local bus and trains to get to many places from the hotel. The staff was always prompt and organized and often cleaned up the room while we were out for breakfast. There were a couple of structural issues with the room: the sink always had some water because of issue with drain. One of the screws came off the hanging TV, making it less stable. We had the gold room. Staff at the front desk and the restaurant were very nice and helpful.

Our stay was overall very good! Only things to complain about is that the air conditioning only turned on when we had a room key inside the room, and even then it didnt work very well. Our room ended up being 80° most nights. Also, BE CAREFUL when getting in the bathtub if someone else showered before you. It is SO slippery and there is no texture or mat on the bottom. I ended up giving my boyfriend the scare of his life when i fell haha. The area is perfect for night life, but be aware that there will be a lot of loud music going on outside in the middle of the night all the way until 5am or so. If you are a light sleeper, maybe look somewhere else. The subway is literally a 5 minute walk away though, so it was super convenient since we were constantly up and doing something in the city during the day. Overall, I'd rate the place a 4 out of 5 and would definitely consider staying here again!

what a nightmare! there’re construction going on at the hotel but didn’t get informed at the check in.
it was unbearably loud and impossible to stay in the room during my stay.

I’ve stayed at IP several times, and I think this will be my last. I usually stay there because it’s close to a fun neighborhood, but IP is starting to show its age and laziness in customer service.

For the room, the carpet is pretty old and feels dirty, and the toilet bidet didn’t work.

Thanks for the good times IP, but you’ve lost a good VIP client.

Nonsmoking signs are prominent at imperial palace boutique hotel but the rooms and hallways reek of cigarette smoke. The carpet and rugs were either stained or dirty. Staff were okay, did not provide excellent service. Room was humid, damp, smelled of mold, toilet was dirty and clothes/sheets/towels were always a bit damp due to the humidity in the room? Asked for another room but was told it was max capacity and no other rooms were available. Location is good but that is the only saving grace for this stay. Would not book again mainly due to air quality and hotel building condition.

Hotel was very quiet with a fun sort of style. Coffee maker leaked water, which I reported to the front desk, but it never got fixed.
Very close to Itaewon party center and “the hill.”
Overall, we were very happy with the place and would definitely stay there again.

We need to scan our room key card to use the elevator which add an additional layer of security for the hotel guests. Centralized control for all the lightings which is convenient. There is a digital scale in the bathroom and I believe it’s a air-purifier(as it’s in Korean language), those are extra amenities for guests that other hotels do not provide.

I love the settings of the hotel, good decor however ,my room wasn't well cleaned. The carpet was extremely dirty you could see that the moment you walk in,the room had a very bad smell, the bathroom floor was dirty, the lamps had finger prints..it just seemed like the house keeper only made the bed and thats it. You have to pay for breakfast & it was terrible , i couldn't eat anything on the plate as it was alĺ raw.

The wow factor is gone.

When I lived in South Korea and I would travel to Seoul I would always stay at one of 2 hotel with IP boutique being one of them. The rooms were so cute and modern. This time around I decided to upgrade to a king suite. I was not impressed chipped Chipped furniture and chipped paint on the walls and an old green rug that looks like it should have been replaced. The air conditioner didn’t work properly and when someone came to service it, he tried his best and said he would turn it up from the Main server. I had the temperature to cold, there is no way I should have been warm. I went to the front desk on two separate occasions and couldn’t find anyone to speak with. For the price of the rooms and no pool I would think the service and quality would be way better. A major facelift is required. I was very disappointed. I don’t see myself returning unless when I visit South Korea next summer it is the only hotel available in the area, or some improvements have been made. Great location, but other than that I’ve been to love motels that are better than this.

The Imperial Palace is just a short walk from Itaewon Station which connects you to everything in the city. There are also endless restaurants bars and clubs in the area! The hotel itself has cool art inspired spaces with art work sculptures and installations!

A Pretty Hotel, but Miserable Experience…

To start off, I’d like to say that the only good thing about this hotel was its interesting aesthetics and art displayed in the lobby and front entrance. Now onto the negatives.

The room was fairly old and dirty with stains spread out on the carpet and scuff marks on the walls. While this wasn’t nice to look at or think about walking around it wasn’t a deal breaker. Just a bad first impression.

The AC in the room would barely run even at max settings. I had the desired temperature set to 20°C at max fan speed but the coldest it would get was around 24°C at night with the window vents open to get the cold night air inside (it was 17-18°C outside at this time). During the day, with all the lights and tv off and curtains drawn to prevent the sunlight from heating the room, the room would sit at about 25.5°C.

Finally, the tv couldn’t connect to the internet about 50% of the time unless you set it to be hard wired through an Ethernet connection. However, without being connected via WiFi, there was no way to cast to the tv.

Overall, this hotel was a huge letdown for the price I payed. Out of the 6 hotels I stayed in during my 2.5 week trip, this hotel was tied with only one other for worst hotel experience.

This place was amazing, it was huge! loved the space and the modern decor. It was located in a shopping street so we could just walk out the door and find stores, food and it was close to the N Seoul Tower and other attractions. Uber and taxis are super cheap in Seoul, as well as trains and bus, so it was super easy to get around from the hotel.

Seemed like an old building because everything had a strange smell. There were so many scuffs all over the walls and a mirror behind my TV was broken. The old carpet needs to be replaced. It made the room seem dated and dirty. Air condition didn’t work, so there was a fan provided…that didn’t do the job. Couldn’t open the vent for the windows since it seemed we had smokers in the alleyway the windows faced. Also the shower was grimy. May be fine for younger travelers needing a cheap place to stay in Itaewon, but it was not for us.

Cleaners mistook one of my fiancée's earbuds for rubbish and threw it out. Staff were incredibly evasive about handling the situation, and the manager wanted to \"check\" our room in case we were incapable of finding it ourselves. Do not go here if you value your valuables.

This is the 2nd time I stayed here, the first time was excellent, the second...not so much. The front service help was just awful. Brusque, bordering on outright rude. The room was fine, but NOT what I reserved. I reserved a single double bed, what I got was two twin beds and was told, \"sorry we're all full up\" even though my booking was scheduled weeks in advance. Also, minor point but irritating, the razor and toothbrush toiletries had been eliminated from the service set without warning necessitating a fast trip to a convenience store to replace them at my expense. Not really happy.

Hotel looks like it’s seen better days. Pictures make it look a lot more modern and in better condition than it was. Also when we arrived there was a spot of urine on the toilet seat so bathroom had clearly not been cleaned properly. Having said that housekeeping throughout our stay was fine. Wasn’t all bad… location was good, staff were helpful and friendly and we had a great view from our bedroom.

Hotel was at a great location. Plenty of restaurants & convenience stores nearby. Public transportation was super close by, the bus stops were about a block away & the subway a couple blocks away which made getting around Seoul so easy. The front desk was super helpful whenever we had a question. The room was comfortable, there was a bathrobe and slippers provided in the room which was a nice touch. I like that you could warm up the toilet seat. I would definitely stay here again when I come back to Seoul.
