The sheets and towels were clean and washed. Usually in inexpensive hotels they try to pass on sheets and towels to the next guest, which were used by the previous guest. In Rodeway Inn all sheets, pillows and towels were clean. There was some construction and renovation was going on for the betterment of the hotel. So parking was limited temporarily. Other than that it was an excellent experience for the price.

A decent, cheap stay

It is a very basic motel. Nothing terrible nothing awesome. Very centrally located, decently clean, though there was a cigarette burn through the thin comforter. It wasn't real quiet, but it was the cheapest in the area and the staff was very pleasant.

One of the worst places I have ever stayed!

Can describe in one word...DUMP! Bad smell, paint peeling, fixtures in bathroom rusting, mold around tub, connecting door had only a hook to offer protection from entry, house next door plated loud (as in LOUD) music all night, bed was awful, etc. Bottom line stay here only if every other room within 5 mile circle is booked. Oh, almost forgot, used keys to open door and you have to give deposit on key.

The room was gloomy and aged; 4 of 7 lights did not work, the room smelled as though a carton of cigarettes had just been smoked, we immediately checked for bed bug infestation. The only benefit was hot water, the posted hotel room pictures did not accurately reflect the condition of the facility.

Older hotel. In the heart of Main Street and was very close to a very good restaurant (Macadoos). Rate was under $60 versus nearby Hampton Inn that was $50 more. Not disappointed with the price we paid. Would stay again as the beds and sheets were clean.

The gentleman at the front desk was very nice and friendly. The beds were clean and comfortable. The room was as clean as it could be. After check in we went up the stairs on the lower end of the establishment, the where falling apart and a peice of wood covered on step. The stairs closest to the office were metal and in much better shape.
The room was ok. The chairs had a couple ciggarette burns in them and the table in the room was very unsteady. The tub in the bathroom was old and rust stains were around the drain and soap scum on the tile wall behind the tub. The toilet and floor in the bathroom were VERY clean
The sink area was also very clean. The floors where vacuumed amd fairly clean. The beds where very clean and very comfortable the mini fridge and microwave were also very clean.
Other guests at the hotel where loud and drunk! Nothing was done by staff to control other guests. One was yelling at the top of his lungs for someone and was threatening to beat him up. Another approached my 16 and 17 yr old to come to her room and 'hang out'.
You would think being right next to a police station you would feel safe, but not here!
I didnt sleep well and I also slept with the two cigg. Burned chairs up against the door!
You get what you pay for I guess, this room was less than $60 on a Saturday night..
I will not stay at this place again..

This motel is unfit for human beings. The floors are crumbling concrete with pieces falling off. There are missing stairs. The floors and furniture are stained. The windows are torn up. There are obvious signs of prying around the locks on the doors (which open to the street, not a hotel hallway). The place looks like a slum. It's also located far from the highway and half of the building has no parking. Perhaps the worst motel in America.

Needed a place to spend the night.

Arrived at the hotel and could tell as we pulled up that this place really needs a face lift. I went in and requested a bottom floor due to my hip but was told there were no bottom floors available. Well I could tell that there were several room not occupied. When we climbed up the stairs you could see the concrete was coming apart. The walk way was a complete mess and really needs attention. The whole place is out dated and need renovation. The bed was ok and the rooms do have a refig and microwave. Internet was good.

Upon check-in I was asked if I had a dog? I said no that I was traveling with my 80 yr old mother.
So he put me upstairs (14 stairs) only to find that my neighbor in the next room had a dog.
Now why would you put us upstairs and then beside a barking dog??
We will never stay here again..

Dated but Clean - Reasonable Price

Although I found the room quite clean, the steps up to the second floor were in poor condition, the room had an \"odd\" smell (cleaning product?), the interior was dated and there were very few outlets, the only outlet for my computer was on a wall blocked by a table and I had to get down on hands and knees to access it. The lighting in the sink/mirror area was very poor as well, made it difficult to apply makeup and finally, although I am not a TV watcher per se, very few channels to choose from and no program guide so I was unable to locate a NEWS channel.

Very bad experience.

Me and my daughter became very ill after entering the room. Clear fluid poured out of our noses, sneezing and nasal passages burned intensely. When we left out to go somewhere, we were fine. An ambulance came to get an elderly person in a different room. I'm not sure if that was related or not. I'm glad we left and are ok. Worst experience at a hotel ever.

Easy to find, on Main Street, a quiet area. Room was clean, adequate. TV was fair/good, no frills. A/C was a bit noisy
and a little hard to adjust. Either cold or too warm. Bathtub could have been cleaner. Towels were a nice quality.
I was cautioned to park on only the opposite side of the motel (from my room), an inconvenience.
The \"breakfast\" offered was minimal.

The room was fine for the price. The room was cleaned every day. The commode in the bathroom was so close to the wall, I had to lean to the left to potty. A fat person would have to go to the nearest convenience store. The seven-watt light bulbs in the beside lamps were a bit ridiculous. The room was quiet, which was a major plus for me, and the cleaning staff did a good job.

Motorcycle lay over Memorial Day Weekend 2016

Motorcycle layover of a 4 day trip. The wife and I have stayed here repeatedly we enjoy it. It's clean it's quiet great location. Right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Police Department right next door. Galax quaint little town walking distance to restaurants we enjoy it. very nice spot. Coffee and cereal in the morning. Great customer service.

I stopped here for a sleep on a road trip and found the room ok for what I needed. It felt outdated and the bathroom wasn't awesome (one painful stream for a shower and a tub that didn't drain) but it did the job. The bed was also super hard but the sheets felt fresh so it balances out.

The Good: The a/c worked. The fridge worked. The wifi worked. The water was hot. There was enough furniture to block the doors. It was cheap.
The Bad: The outside door didn't deadbolt. The toilet was so close to the wall and the tub that you hit your shoulder on one side and your leg on the other side unless you're a child. The a/c was so loud I had to turn it off to sleep. The shower SCREAMED.
The Ugly: There were no covers on the light fixtures over the sink, the walls looked like the room used to be a smoking room and nobody had bothered to repaint when it was declared non-smoking (icky yellow). The stairs to the second floor looked like they were about ready to collapse, but they seemed solid enough when I went up and down them.

great value for a 1-night stopover

We crashed here after a day of hiking in Grayson Highlands State Park. The host was very pleasant. He offered us a good room, very clean, comfortable beds...and everything worked. This is a classic, throwback motel located adjacent to the town. We ate at a great brew pub close by and enjoyed our night in Galax. You can't beat the price for a comfortable place to crash for the night.

It was a decent hotel to stay for one night, however we found out after the fact this was also a \"party\" place for young people. We heard all throughout the night partying and yelling, along with jumping on the beds, and just plain noisy! We told the staff in the office the next morning, but I don't feel that they particularly cared about it.

Just a little TLC

It is right in a quaint little town with many shops and restaurants in walking distance. It was next to a police station as well. There was heavy, noisy construction going on very early in the morning right outside our window on a nearby property.
The room itself was very clean and comfortable. We noticed many minor repairs that needed attention. Broken light fixture, tiles that were haphazardly replaced, and faucet handles on backward. With a little TLC, it would be quite nice. Water was hot and water pressure great. Breakfast was very light, muffins, bagels and waffles, juice...the coffee was AMAZING!
For the price it was more than adequate.

Decent Hotel - Great Price

I actually booked this hotel from the parking lot once I arrived in Galax. We were shown two rooms, one on the front... one on the back. Per the front desk attendant, the back rooms had new mattresses. The front room we looked at was a little musty but the rear room with new mattresses and new carpet had no smell at all. While this hotel is located in the downtown area, we felt very safe because the Police Department was right next door. The rest was what you would expect for a hotel in this price range but overall the room met our purpose and our stay was otherwise uneventful.

We arrived about 3am and they still got up to check us in. We had an electric outlet to break, but they fixed it promptly. The room was clean and had a refrigerator and microwave. No loud noises or neighbors. Convenient to all shopping areas.

Lovely town...Nice motel!

We loved this town and the hotel was lovely. We usually only stay in hotels with interior corridors but this one is in such a quiet area on a mountain, it was perfectly safe. The room was nice, carpet clean and almost looked new. Beds comfy and linens very white. We had a fridge and microwave. Bathroom was new looking and shower had a great spray. I can't think of anything about the room that was a negative. A short walk and we were on the main street of shops. We enjoyed the Chinese Restaurant fare very much. They served a minimal Continental Breakfast of coffee, muffins, OJ and make your own waffle. Paul was a dear in helping us check in. Everyone was very cordial and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

Quick stop in Galax.

Quick stop over on a motorcycle trip. Arrive well after normal hours but was quickly given a room and my bike stayed right by the lobby where I felt much better about leaving it. Easy to find. Convenient to Blue Ridge Parkway.

I needed a place to crash on a road trip from Florida to Ohio. The place was nice and quiet, and it was in a safe little town. The wifi only worked in the back half away from the parking lot. They allow pets for an extremely small fee, which was great. great value for the price.

This hotel/motel is located in the middle of Galax,Va. It's clean and comfortable although very basic which filled my current needs. The hotel could use some updating but for the price you couldn't beet it.

We have been to Galax in the past and made a stop for the Rex Music Hall on our way home from points north. This was our first stay at The Rodeway. The plus side of this hotel is that it is quiet which we find to be rare. The room was clean enough but needed some detail cleaning. The bed was the issue with this stay. It was totally worn out and like sleeping on a king sized bouncy hammock. Not good. We knew that breakfast was minimal so did not plan to eat there.

Front Desk - very friendly and quick check in, but had pre-booked and pre-paid with AARP.
Outside - run down, but newly painted. Chipped stairs, no elevator.
Room - clean, in general, but frayed carpet, rusty fixtures in very small and cramped bathroom. Bed was okay for one night. Deadbolt on door didn't work. A/C loud. TV old, but operable. WIFI came and went. No coffee maker in room.
Breakfast - dry cereal, weak coffee

We used this motel twice when passing through the area. The staff were very nice, the location ideal. However, the building was old and the room did not feel completely clean -this mostly due to aging materials (carpet, chair, bedspread, etc.)Also the bed was saggy and the frame a bit flimsy. Very basic accommodations.
