Location to downtown Galax and Highway 58 is excellant. Housekeeping was excellant. Coffee available in the morning and ice machine available in the office. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. Rooms were clean and each day the maid replaced the towels and cleaned the bathroom. We would stay there again.

This was not a good place at all. Beds were uncomfortable, bathroom was dirty and stained walls. We stayed two nights and housecleaning picked up used towels but never gave clean ones also they didn’t empty trash. Out side was in need of repairs to the walkways and driveway.

It is an old motel. Convenient, and the bed was comfortable. Room and bathroom was clean.
Parking lot is rough, but that's ok for the price. You can park right in front of your room. Overall good experience if you are not looking for luxury.

This was an convenient inexpensive place to stay on my way to South Carolina, a clean comfortable room in an older motel. Friendly check in and about a mile to Creek Bottom Brewery, which had live bluegrass music, good food and great beer, and the motel is about a mile from the New River Trail which I will bike. My first time visiting Galax, and I want to come back.

After reading some reviews I was a lil hesitant but honestly it’s not that bad! The beds were a little hard so I can agree with the other comments there but honestly it was clean and a pretty easy location to get to! Checkin was a breeze and the staff was so nice! The only real complaint I had was that the ac was super loud for my kids and that the bath didn’t have a plug so I couldn’t give my baby a bath after 7 hours in a car but other than that it was great! Def staying here next time we pass through!

Reading past reviews, it seems that there may have been some problems in the past. My (and my brother's) room were clean, the floors had been replaced not too long ago, and the TV, refrigerator, microwave, etc. were modern and in great working condition. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

This is an older motel that has had a recent renovation. The motel was quaint and clean and the man at the front desk was very nice. The retro pink tiled bathroom was clean, but definitely gave a dated feel to the room. The bed was not very comfortable - quite firm and with a squeaky metal frame. We stayed here as a stop on a Blue Ridge Pkwy trip, so it was convenient for that.

Just a wonderful experience. Clean and tidy. The hot water was hot, the room heat was awesome, the parking was ample and I liked the cozy and warm decor. The table and two chairs made for a nice dinner while I watched the local birds outside. Absolutely no noise from the highway even though it was conveniently close by. I would definetly stay here again.

Average cheap motel. Not a place i would seek out again but it was ok for a couple of nights. No room service. No breakfast. And i think i had to wake up,the manager to check out at 7:30 a.m. But it was clean and the shower was good. Bed was ok and we were comfortable for both nights.

Like staying in a motel in the 1970's! A motorcourt setup. New roof, porches all painted, brickface fronts clean. Room itself was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The bathroom is totally retro (pink ceramic) but ceilings and floors are new and everything is well taken care of.

This property is mostly an abandoned renovation project. Semi-burned mattresses and busted sheet rock is all over the property. Exterior trash cans do not exist, and the icemaker is frozen in an abandoned corner with discarded refrigerators.

BUGS BATH AND BAD LIGHTING

The room clearly had not been swept in a while as there were dead bugs all in the corners. There were three people staying in the room and they seemed surprised when we requested more towels. Then the one bath mat was removed with wash cloths the first morning and never replaced. Crickets were getting in the room and the one tall lamp did not function.

Cheap & convenient at best!

The room wasn't very clean we had double beds one was clean the other was dirty the sink had toothpaste all over the bowl. Called service desk guy came cleaned the sink & changed the bed. The heating/air unit was unplugged asked why he said because it continuously runs the outlet was all broken looked like a fire Hazzard he plugged it in & the smell was HORRIBLE. The unit was disgusting looks like it hasn't been cleaned since it was put in!! Overall the view was nice on top of a hill overlooking mountains and the city!!

Well worth the few days we were there

As soon as we stepped in the room and put the ac on we were like “hell no”.
The ac was not working and neither was the bathroom light. Within five minutes The three friendly and helpful men that worked there came to the room and within twenty minutes the ac was replaced and the light was working.
The room was a few blocks from Main Street, a wonderful trail “galax to fries junction on the New River Trail state park”, and restaurants etc.
we were pleasantly surprised with the little town and the beauty of the mountains while we sat in front of the room.

Overall, I liked this property and would stay here again if I'm in that area again. The room was clean and the property was fairly well kept.

I had asked for a room to which I could back up my car since I had several large items in it I wanted to keep in my room over night. I was given a room that I could back up to, but there was a 6-foot slope between my room and the back of my car, so I had to schlep the items down to the steps to get them to and from my room.

There were no other guests in the immediate area, so it was nice and quiet. However, about 11:30 PM some folks checked into the next room. They weren't overly noisy or loud, but since they couldn't smoke in their room, they sat on chairs in front of their room and smoked, and the smoke came into my room through the open windows. I thought that perhaps the desk could have given them a room that wasn't right next to another guest since the motel was less than half full.

Pretty clean, no frills at all, room with a lot of space. A little bit off the main strip but OK by car.
Slight damage on the bathroom door and one of the lights was out. Did have a bathroom with a safety bar in shower which was nice.

It was a clean, quiet, old hotel but the TV and heat worked. It doesn't advertise as a 4star so there was zero disappointment. It was a good place to stay that was affordable and convenient to where I was working that weekend. Owners were nice, just not allot said and can't fault for that either. Depends on your mood I guess ;) I would stay here again if I went back to that area.

The place was run down and as soon as I walked in it smelled very bad of mildew, and and so did the linens. I got electrocuted when turning off the light between the beds. It needs to be renovated, which to their defense they where doing.

Walked in the room to a smelly room, there was food crumbs on a bed like they didn’t even clean the sheets. There was dog food and hair on the room floor. We had to buy a sheet set from walmart cause we didn’t want our son to sleep on dirty sheets. The TV didn’t work but they brought another one quickly. If the room was cleaner it wouldn't have been a bad experience.

It was clean and the folks friendly. The wifi did not reach my room so had to go to the office ~ route planning is important to motorcyclists, I cannot research weather or routes without wifi. Did not like to have to spread out my maps/papers in the office in the morning, would have preferred to complete in privacy of my own room the evening before.

Overall the stay at Knights Inn Galax was okay to good. I liked that they are pet friendly and we could travel with our kittens. The issue I had with the room was the looseness of the bottom sheet. It did not stay in place and caused unexpected lumps while sleeping.The extra charge for the kittens was a tad much at $10.00 per kitten per night.

After a full day bike riding from Pulaski, the Galax Knights Inn was a great find! The room was clean, cozy, and comfy! The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to help us. This is a very standard inn but suited our needs perfectly. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again!

Bugs and Stink

Live spider on my pillow, dead bug next to the bed, dead fly in the breakfast refrigerator.

This room smelled so badly I could not sleep. I opened a window, only to find that the window lead to some kind of storage, which had noxious or septic fumes pouring out of it into the room.

Pubic hair in my bed sheets.

Continental breakfast consisted of coffee, Raisin Bran, Frosted Flakes, plain bread, Little Debbie's mini donuts, a little bit of milk left in a gallon jug, a little bit of Sunny D (not juice) in a gallon jug-- kept in a fridge that had a dead fly in it and appeared not to be defrosted for many months.

There was not even an apology given by owners/management when I told them there was a dead fly in the fridge.

Although there was apparent effort made to keep the place cleaned and maintained, there are fundamental issues not dealt with, causing most awful smells, and absolute penny pinching leading to absolute false advertising on the breakfast-- never seen anything like it.

The pool had been filled with dirt and turned into some kind of defunct garden.

The owners had some cooking going on on a propane stove outside that made the whole property smell like curry.

This place turned my stomach, and the memory of it makes me nauseated.

If you are the least bit sensitive to smells, do not stay here!

wifi is not running well, normally this is much better but this time it is fair to poor. hard to get on line and then hard to go anywhere once your get there. room also was cold when we arrived, heat wasn't turned on earlier to get it to warm up. also after it snowed they cleared the handicap ramp but didn't clear the parking area and tonight it was very slick with black ice

Not really worth it.

When they call a room a \"Double\", they mean \"one double bed\". Two beds is called a \"double room double bed.\". The clerk says that \"happens all the time\" and proceeds to charge you more for the room change which makes the deal not well worth it. Hotel is old, but mostly comfortable. It's a cheap room with cheap fixtures. Area is residential on the edge of town. Not directly off the main highway through town.

Dirty socks under the mattress!

Hotel is old needs some updating. Our room was semi-clean. We did find dirt and bottle cap lids by the beds that was left from a previous customer that should have been cleaned up before our stay. We always check each bed before laying on it to make sure there is no bedbugs. In the process of doing so we found a pair of dirty socks that someone left under one of the mattresses. We believe the person left them there just to see if anyone would find them to show that the rooms are not cleaned as they should be. We stayed 4 nights and there was never any soap left for us to bath with nor shampoo. I did let the person at the counter know this when we checked out but his reply was that they do not have shampoo? Really this is a Wyndham rewards hotel and no shampoo? We also had a very loud group next door on our last night stay that woke me before 5 AM and I let the hotel know that as well. For a Wyndham hotel I was very disappointed in not even getting an apology for having dirty socks, bottle caps and dirt beside our beds. I regret the fact that neither of us thought to snap some pictures to show the dirty socks, dirt and bottle caps. The hotels in the area all seemed to take advantage of the Hillsville Labor Day Gun and flea Market show and raised the prices of the stay. However, The Knights Inn was the cheapest that I could book and I booked several months in advance to try and avoid the price increase.
