When booking property, no information that the fitness centre was at least a 7-10 min walk away and that it is closed on friday as well as only 12-12 on saturday when i checked out.

I chose The Somerset precisely because of the fitness centre, but it was disappointing I could not use it at all.

Transfer staff were excellent, well mannered and very informative.
Shame the rest of the stay was terrible. Inaccurate description, total lies.
Staff on site were hostile.
Breakfast order was so late we ended up leaving without it arriving as our transfer was due, despite asking if it was coming.
We arrived with an hour for breakfast but still they were so slow.
I would not recommend this hotel.

Just had a 1 night stop over before flying home and it was a very comfortable stay. Next to all the shops and the restaurant at this hotel provided a fantastic menu which we enjoyed.
Lovely stay and would definitely use/stay again in the future if the opportunity arises again.

I stayed for a week during a conference. The hotel staff is exceptionally hospitable. I got the feeling that they genuinely care. They helped arrange a diving trip and book taxies. Airport pickup, laundry service, and breakfast were all satisfactory. The room was basic but clean and functional. The location is great too: close to the fish market and there were plenty of stores around. I highly recommend this place.

Comfortable stay for an overnight in the capital. Near a nice playground so great for kids, also near the fish market. Transfer to/from airport is via taxi but they will kindly arrange for this so it is a great help. Breakfast is good too.

The service was excellent and very friendly. They even gave us a travel breakfast to go for our early flight. They did a great job of communicating about our stay and coordinating to get us back to the airport for our transport. The area is very busy. The room is very small and basic and we even had one of the larger rooms. It was clean.The bed was not comfortable but it served the purpose to stay overnight and wait until we could get the plane out to the W resort. I think it was good enough for what you could get close to the airport for somewhat reasonable cost(by Maldives standard) before transport to the outlying island resorts. Everything is expensive there.

Somerset Hotel in Male is an excellent choice for a transit stay. Just a 10-15 minute drive from the airport, the hotel provides convenient pick-up and drop-off services. Situated in a central location near attractions like the national museum, republic plaza, fish market, and the president's palace, it's perfect for a quick walking tour, which can be completed in under 30 minutes. The fish market, in particular, offers an intriguing stingray watchout, providing a unique experience not commonly found elsewhere in the Maldives.

Additionally, the hotel is within walking distance of Rasfannu beach, although it's worth noting that the beach is relatively small. There are also several good eateries nearby, such as Seagull, Lemongrass, and D'Olive, as well as the convenience of Seagull supermarket.

Great service, highly reccommend.

I'd highly recommend this hotel. We spent a night here before and after going out to the island resorts.
The free transfer is a bonus and made it a seamless experience getting from the airport to the hotel and back again. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I also love the attention they pay in not utilising single use plastic for their amenities and in room water bottles.
What really made both our stays enjoyable was the incredible service. All of the staff were so friendly and went above and beyond to ensure our stay was easy and enjoyable. Special thanks to Vincent for recognising us on our return stay and organising our rooms to be close together. It's small things like this that sets service apart.

We have just returned from 5 days at a 5* island and the service at the Somerset was way better than it was at the island we stayed at.

We also had dinner at the in house restaurant which was delicious and very convenient.

Strategically located near the jetty's that take you the islands. The souvenir shops, national museum are also nearby.

Breakfast was great.. not a wide selection but the hot meals were very good, especially the chicken or tuna fried rice.

Staff was very helpful. Special thanks to Nabeeh who was exceptionally helpful and kind. We had memorable adventures in Maldives as he patiently helped us with our excursions.

Our flight arrived in Male past the time for the seaplane to take us to our resort so we have to look for a hotel to spend a night at Male. We came across this hotel on Expedia saw pretty good reviews and it's close to the airport so we decided to stay there. That was a great decision because we have a wonderful experience with this hotel from booking through check-out. They communicate well upfront to obtain our arrival information and they have someone waiting for us at the airport once we clear through custom and took us to our hotel. We get a glimpse of Male on our ride to the airport. The check in was smooth and they brought our luggage to our rooms. The next morning, there was free buffet breakfast for us to enjoy before someone at the hotel take us back to the hotel and they make sure they take us to the counter to meet with people from our resort before they left. I highly recommend anyone who's just doing a quick transit at Male as the customer service we received was superb and everyone there was so friendly. If we ever go back to Maldives and have to spend a night at Male, we'll definitely go back to Somerset Hotel.

The transport for the airport was fantastic along with the luggage service. Check in and out was smooth as ever with the attached restaurant serving delicious and spicy local fare. It was a pleasure staying here. Only hiccup was we requested a wake up call for 6:30AM and only received it at 6:48AM. Luckily the 6AM call to prayer on the first day of Ramadan got us up prior to our requested time

Hotel staff was great...transport to and from the airport is a nice perk..restaurant has a nice variety of options. Overall a really nice hotel. AC worked well, which is important in places like the Maldives where it can get pretty hot. My only real issue was the shower had limited hot water on 2 of the 3 days I was there and my 6:30am scheduled shuttle to the airport arrived at 6:45am. They did provide me a nice upgraded room and even offered to pack me a breakfast for my trip to the airport, so I can't say anything but good things about the staff. Will definitely stay again if I return.

The area where the hotel is located does not look safe. Also, my group was charged for a broken sofa bed which was broken way before we arrived and We are sure they knew about because the sofa bed was made (meaning opened and dressed with sheets) before we walked in the room and when we noticed it the next morning (thankful we didn’t get hurt) and told the front desk, we were told we had broke it - to avoid an argument and ruine our vacation we paid the damage that we did not cause ($130) - I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE STAY HERE - scamming tourist into paying for their broken furniture.

Great Option in Male for a Day or More!

I stayed at the Somerset Hotel during the time when COVID was an issue in much of the world and the hotel was very thoughtful about providing extra masks and hand sanitizer to all guests. This is in line with just how helpful they were and welcoming to the capital of the Maldives. I spent a few nights here as I wanted to explore Male and the staff were very helpful with suggestions and helping me get tested before I left the country. The room was comfortable and the breakfast was varied and excellent. The breakfast was served in what was (at the time of writing) the #1 restaurant in Male on Trip Advisor. The hotel is also really close to nearly everything a tourist would want to visit as well as numerous restaurants and cafes. The very professional staff met me when I came in from my previous stay on another atoll and took me to the airport when my stay was over. So, I really recommend this hotel for anyone who has a layover in Male or who wants to explore the capital.

The location is great - 2 minutes walk from the National Museum, the central Mosque and the waterfront.

I was very happy to have found this hotel for an overnight in Male before transferring to our resort. The pick up and transportation from the airport was easy and seamless. The customer service was outstanding. The hotel contacted my resort to ensure a proper transfer the next morning and even provided a take away breakfast for us as we were leaving prior to breakfast opening. The room we rented was very large with a bedroom and living room and superbly clean. Highly recommend!
