This is a nice hotel--cozy--that makes great use of the available space. The rooms were efficient and clean! Fridge w/mini bar, AC w/remote, overhead fan, drinking water, stool and desk. The shower pressure and temperature was so so but the bathroom was immaculately clean and in excellent repair, despite the semi-antique asthetic. The lobby is tight but nice. Hot and cold drinks are available. Also, there's an extensive menu for room service. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to try anything. The absolute best part of my stay was Ismail! He was in touch with me very quickly after I made my reservation; personally guided me through check in; and, had endless suggestions of eateries, boat schedules and activities. You're guaranteed to not find a more courteous, proud and knowledgeable hotel manager! A complete breathe of fresh air compared to staff of other hotels I've been to across Asia this year. I'd definitely like to return here in the future!

Great if you want to experience Malé city. Very small, but from my experience everything is in central Malé. Very clean and great staff, lots of food and shops around. The cabs wont be able to take you right to the hotel as the street is too small but the whole city is very walkable.

loved the entire experience. The owner/manager went waaayyyy out of his way to help our large group. He set us up with a ferry ride for a day trip. He drove us at 5am to the airport one group at a time. I think he made 4 or 5 trips. amazing!!

The staff and the cleanliness of the property was excellent. The location of the property was in a poorly accessible place for walking and for cabs. We had to walk quite a distance down a very narrow street with four pieces of luggage when we were dropped off from the airport. Transportation to the airport was better and worked out by the hotel.

This property was very much misrepresented. It was stationed on a corner with a lot of street traffic (foot & mopeds). The rooms were very on the same floor, where shoes were located outside the door. The atrium picture or the rooms are not true to the picture.
We had to move to another hotel. I would like a full refund.

My bad experience in the hotel was when I couldn’t flash in toilet due to flasher issue.
The receptionist behaviour was like a deceptive person.
They offered me a room without attached toilet which wasn't mention in there website.

Recently had a one night stay at Octave before heading to the islands. Service was fantastic. Communication from the staff before arriving was great. They organised a staff member to be available for check in post their normal staffed hours as we arrived very late. The room was bigger than expected and very clean. All staff were very friendly and provided great advice on what was in the area. Would highly recommend if staying in Male :)

great property. staff were nice, very helpful. i like it was located in the middle of the island. everything is walking distance. no taxi needed, only for the airport.

i definitely recommend staying here if your passing through for a night . this side of the island was very local if that’s what you like…. everyone speaks english, including the stores and restaurants we visited there.
i would definitely stay there again…

staff were sooooo helpful. they gave us a ride to the airport, and they arranged my seaplane for my next hotel which was at you and me resort…

You are made to feel at Home..

From the moment the pick up at the airport was on time, I had a good feeling. The hotel is centrally located and I would return even just to stay in Male without the islands. The breakfast made to order was top notch. In fact, they served me earlier due to time to fly to Sri Lanka.
I was given an excellent place to go for dinner.
The room was clean, comfortable, excellent lighting to read and AC.
I just wish the WiFi was better.
Yes, I would recommend and come again.

I stayed here after a late night arrival into MLE, and before heading out to an island resort the next day. The hotel offers free airport (& ferry) transfers, so really convenient. The room is clean, the bed is very comfortable, and the included breakfast is simple but tasty. The free wifi worked well. All the hotel employees were friendly and helpful. I would be happy to stay here again after a late night arrival (or for an early morning departure).

Hotel was mediocre. Room was clean but was very dated and the bed wasn’t very comfortable. Wet bathroom style with no barrier for the shower. Check in experience was strange. Good for a cheap overnight stay in Male, but I’d probably choose something else next time. They had a free airport transfer and the driver was very friendly and informative.

a normal 3 star property but very a very good one at that. They serve you the breakfast that you want and are very cooperative. transfers are arranged well and everything is taken care of. Rooms are beautiful more like a pretty apartment with kitchen and utensils and a washing machine too!!

The hotel is small. It got everything that we need. It’s clean with friendly and hospitable staff. The complimentary airport transfer was seamless.

We got a free upgrade to a room with a kitchenette, living area which has a single bed and a separate room with a queen size bed. The breakfast was adequate and it fills up the stomach.

Reception arranged with the next resort that we are heading to and arranged our complimentary transfer back to the airport.

Would I book this hotel again in Male? Without a heartbeat. Thanks to Ismail, his niece and his staff who prepared breakfast for us, you made us feel welcome.

Perfect hotel in the heart of male! We were greeted at the airport and all our transportation needs were taken care for us (including driving us to jetty for our boat ride the next day). They had lime tea drinks and a scented candle burning in our room to welcome us. The bed had a fantastic mattress topper and the most comfortable pillows I’ve ever had in a hotel room. The location is great for getting to and from jetty as well as for seeing all the historic sites (only about a 5min walk). The most impressive thing though was the staff, who were warm and generous and kind and honestly happy to try to help in any way they could. They made the stay an absolute pleasure. My husband and I will definitely be coming back and telling everyone we can to stay at this fabulous hotel!

We stayed in Male one night before our resort. The hotel is close to everything, and it offers free two way airport transportation. The transfer was smooth. Octave also contacted my next island resort for the seaplane. The room was clean, and it was quiet during the night. The staff was nice, and we will stay again when we go to Maldives next time.

Pleasant hotel in downtown Male

A simple, small hotel right in the center of Male. Everything I needed for a overnight stay plus day use of a room while waiting for my flight home. The staff were excellent and managed all my arrangements perfectly. I had three meals in the restaurant and each one was clearly freshly prepared and tasty. No ocean views, beaches or leisure facilities, but very adequate for my purpose.

Great Transfer Hotel!

This hotel was great!! It had a great price and the staff are wonderful! A staff member greeted us at the airport and escorted us on a ferry to Male'. They even arranged a time to take us back to the airport the next day! We only stayed one night as we were waiting for transfer to another island the next day. This hotel is perfect for a quick layover. The price is right and the rooms are very clean. The bed was VERY comfortable although the bed frame was a bit noisy. The only downside is the area around the hotel, but to be honest, all of Male' is like that. The ginger lemon green tea that they give you on arrival is AMAZING!!!! I would definitely stay here again!

Booked to stay here for one night before embarking on a luxury liveaboard dive trip the next day. The included return transfers were very convenient as was the central location. All the staff were excellent. The driver was knowledgeable like a tour guide and oriented us to the city. All the hotel staff were incredibly friendly and only too happy to help.

The room was clean and comfortable and perfectly adequate for our needs. Complimentary water is included. The included breakfast was convenient but not particularly special.

It is an easy walk to everywhere on the island and we were able to walk around the whole Island in our time there.

Overall it was a very good experience staying at Hotel Octave, we would easily stay here again.

When we arrived we were freeted by a car and transferred to the hotel.

We arrived freshened up and went to to the two smaller island

We stayed here as a stopover with a group of divers arriving in to Male before heading off the next day on a dive liveaboard. The hotel was clean and served it's purpose. The breakfast seemed a bit strange with eggs and hotdogs, but we later realized that is a typical spread in the Maldives.

Our room was a bit of a squeeze as they seemed to have added an additional single bed in the livingroom area (which other rooms didn't have) but as we were hardly there, it didn't matter much.

The free airport transfers are great!

But all that said, I do think it was rather overpriced at $125USD per night.

We had an overnight stay on Male (hotel island) so we chose Octave Hotel. It's reasonably priced with free wifi and breakfast, which is great thing when you're traveling. The hotel staff was friendly and the room very comfortable. We were put in a spacious suite room, which had a washing machine and kitchen. We were happy that we could do our laundry before we went to Sri Lanka but recommend doing wash in the early afternoon so you can dry everything under the strong fans.
One great thing about the hotel was that they are there for you when you arrive at airport island from your flight or from your resort. They take you to the hotel for check-in and then back after check-out for free (tips are appreciated, of course).
The only thing we were disappointed in was not 100% under the hotel's control. We arrived on Friday afternoon and almost everything in the city was closed for prayers. Try to avoid Fri afternoon in Male or at least eat at the airport before you board the water taxi, if possible. Anyway, the hotel staff led us to one of the few open restaurants, called Gourmet. Gourmet was very expensive and did not have Maldivian food (the noodle dish we ordered was good). I wish we'd have stopped at one of the open local restaurants we passed.
* Make sure you get a hotel map before you go out. The crowded, compact streets of Male are tricky to navigate.
All-in-all we'd stay at Octave again and recommend it to friends who want to experience Male island for a night.

OLnly stayed here the 1 night on our way to a resort. They met us at the hotel, paid for the ferry trip to the mainland, met us again and a free taxi to the hotel! Surely that says it all! No - they did it all again in reverse the following morning. We had a very comfortable room on the top floor. Had all we needed - plenty of water and a hot breakfast in the morning. Would highly recommend staying here.

Needed a place to stay over night before we continued on our trip. The room was ok for what I paid. Only one slight issue was that the hotel was not too sure which airline to put me on for our seaplane. It was corrected at the airport. For a one night stay it was acceptable.

My wife and I are taking the night flight to Male. We decided to stay one night at Male city before proceed to the resort the following day. When we reached the airport, we are welcome by the hotel staff and was accompany from taking the boat to Male city until to the hotel. We were upgraded to suite room due to the water supply problem facing by whole citizens of Maldives. Overall is a nice pleasant one night stay and would definitely return for a stay there.

Perfect hotel in Male

Perfect hotel close to the airport. Clean and comfortable and very reasonably priced. The staff at Hotel Octave are excellent - they collect you from the airport and drop you back off at no cost whatsoever and with a smile on their face. This involves a short ferry trip and then a short car journey therefore please tip - they're worth it!! We were upgraded and check in and check out was easy. Thank you to Hotel Octave for a nice first night in the Maldives!

We stayed at this hotel prior to transfer to another resort. Transfers to and from Male airport were included in price, which was not apparent at booking, but nice. Greeted at airport, escorted to public ferry, greeted in Male, and taxi to hotel. The hotel is very comfortable, air conditioner worked, - good three star hotel. Staff were helpful, but communication, although in English, not quite there, resulting in multiple communications. Price was good, though.

The hotel isn't super cheap (though maybe all hotels in Male are similarly priced), but the staff was very professional and helpful, even giving me extended use of the front desk phone to make my next reservation. Everything turned out fine.

Cheap & Cheerful, did the job

As agreed, picked up at the Airport Terminal, escorted to the Ferry, picked up on Male Island and driven to the Hotel. We just hit the bed and slept a full 8 hours! Breakfast was simple enough, then we were driven back to the ferry terminal and delivered to our Departure Flight desk. All good, the hotel, staff & support did exactly what was required!!

Hotel Octave is a good place for an overnight stay only before proceeding to your resort destination in Maldives. The room was very clean and spacious enough for couples but not for those travelling with kids. Free shuttle service to and from the airport. The only downside was that the location of this hotel/surrounding neighborhood was a bit scary. Streets going to the hotel are more like alleys filled with parked motorcycles. Though they say this is the typical scene of Male city.Still it's very cramped and scary and you'll only see mostly men. I'm just not sure if safe enough for a group of \"just women\" travelling. Also, people are very helpful, speaks english quite well but doesn't have the warmth you'll feel like in other asian countries.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Octave for one night as we arrived late at night. The next morning we travelled to our resort.
I was a little nervous catching the ferry to Male and not knowing where we were going but the staff were extremely helpful, punctual and friendly.
When we arrived we were welcomed with a refreshing drink and directed to our room which was comfortable for our one night and very clean.
The staff arranged the transfer back to the airport in the morning which was well organised.
The hotel staff and transfer drivers added to our experience by providing us with some facts about Male pointing out important landmarks.

Efficient transfer and good hotel in Male

We arrived late 10:00 pm and was waited by a hotel representative after the luggage pickup. The transfer to the hotel was smooth - jump in mid size boat for 15 minutes; on the other side a car was waiting for us (10 minutes drive to the hotel).
Check-in was quick and staff very friendly.
We were upgraded to a bigger room for free - nice gesture but we were there just for few hours of sleep.
Hotel bed is comfortable. The room was generous in with a separate living areas and a kitchen fully equipped. The bathroom was very clean and functional. Breakfast was limited (2 options - cereals or scramble eggs with sausage and toast, butter, jam etc.
The transfer next morning to the seaplane was very quick and efficient as well. The hotel liaised with the resort to synchronize the seaplane flight. On the airport island the hotel representative took us to the sea plane check in (it was all smooth - we did not have to worry about a thing - very efficient again)
Highly recommend the hotel if you have to sleep in Male and look after efficient transfers.
Make sure you tip the staff - they are great.

A great little island. The room could have been better, e.g. the sheets were a little wet. Little things made the stay memorable, e.g. the swing by the beach.

A resonably priced stay before going to the resort

There is pick up from the hotel from the international airport. Staffs are nice and helpful. Free hotel-car pick up from the pier at Male is also included. You can probably see all the streetcapes during the ride. Though it is at most a 3-star hotel, not bad to stay with before heading to the resort.

Was a small but clean room ok for overnight stay.

We stayed here for one night on our way to coco palm dhuni kolhu as we got in from Singapore at 1030 and a had a sea plane out in the morning at 0930. The room rate included the transfer by water taxi to and from the land taxi and a small breakfast which saved a bit of stress trying to find our way there. The room was small but as there are 150000 people living on a island that is only 1.5 miles long I don't think any room would be to big. The bathroom was very compact but was clean. After seeing other places on the way to the hotel I think it would definatly be better than them and would stay again but only as a stop over in male.

Great staff, noisy street

Very welcome reception, including meeting in the airport, attentive and helpful staff in the hotel. The room is Ok, nothing special but fine for an overnight stay. Only negative thing is the noise from outside - room windows has no sound insulation at all! Ant the street is, even being truly narrow, extremely noisy.

Hotel with pick-up from/to the airport services

This hotel is located right in Male. It is surrounded by a warren of narrow streets that can be very confusing, but the staff proved to be most helpful. Most appreciated was the pick-up from the airport and my delivery back to it which saved me a lot of stress. The in-house restaurant is pleasant and reasonable in price, the rooms are not luxurious but comfortable enough..

good transit hotel before going to the resort

we arrived late at 10.40pm at the Male airport. the hotel staff is waiting for us outside immigration gate and travelling to the hotel was a breeze, in Maldives style. I.e. boat ride, then 5 min car ride to hotel. Staff all are very friendly and welcoming. the breakfast included feels homecooked and well done. only drawback is the bed is too soft and uncomfortable if you don't like soft beds.

Excellent Choice for seeing the Male.

Located in the central area of Male. The transfers to and from the MLE international airport are all handled by the hotel staff which proved to be quite nice after a long flight. They met us as we exited customs, assisted to the ferry, picked up as we left the ferry and driven to hotel. Very simple and all included in room rate. Hotel was exceptionally clean. This hotel is located within the city and offers walking distance to restaurants, shopping, national museum, fish market etc. It is not insulated from what is going on in the city as some other locations.

Lots of great photography possible from this location in this incredibly colorful city. Great choice.

Great transit hotel before heading to resorts!

Bathroom is small, but clean and nice. Good pick-up service, but they lost one of our 5 luggages, BUT about an hour later, they found it. Breakfast was included and delicious. Front desk was helpful in showing us places to visit and to eat lunch at.

Tip - go shopping for snacks at the local store to bring to the resort! Much cheaper and more variety!

Great transit hotel

Hotel Octave is a great hotel for one or two nights in Maldives. It is clean and the on-site restaurant is good. However, they make everything to order so be prepared to wait a bit for your food, but it is worth the wait. The scores of 4 rather than 5 do not reflect the quality of the hotel. Rather, just the type of hotel (short-term transit) that it is. For the money, it is a great value
