Convenient located, but way to overpriced. We booked the basic room and it was dirty, especially the batroom. Small hard beds, thin pillows. Food was great, drinks overpriced. Do yourself a favor and stay in town, take a taxi back.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though Expedia didn't give them my reservation, they honored what I showed them and gave me the room. The food was good and the property was clean. No issues except Expedia told us this is all you will pay but then it turns out there was a tourist tax that I still had to pay. The hotel was great but Expedia wasn't!

For me it’s a stop over for the Maldives so I’m not comparing it to private Villas etc but it’s used a lot for local workers and understandably air crew, it’s OK but bar / pool staff don’t get the need for customer service and the place is a little basic but clean and adequate. It’s noisy but it’s going to be as it’s literally in the airport and pick up for island boats. Take some earplugs and you’ll be fine

Bed linen smelled of old sweat. Charged twice for stay- we pre paid, then arrived and were asked to pay again by a very officious lady at the counter. Next day a kind front desk employee apologised and said he had picked this up and would reimburse the second payment -but it could take up to a week to process- no reimbursement yet?

Hulhule Airport Hotel was a great way to wrap up our Maldives vacation. Property is beautiful and staff is very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful views from our 3rd floor room and the top floor restaurant. Very nice pool. This is the only spot to enjoy a beer/cocktail in Male. Breakfast buffet top floor is excellent but downstairs pub food is mediocre. Located about a half mile from the airport but not safely walkable at all due to construction, no sidewalks, trash. The property’s beach is pretty from a distance but some garbage on the sand up close. Overall, highly recommend on the way in/out of Maldives.

Good for a night-over before you head to a resort

No-one was waiting for us @ Male International Airport Arrival to guide us to the Hotel. There is a free bus which can take you from Airport to the hotel, but no sign-boards where the bus waits etc.

The hotel itself is good & the service is quite okay for a day’s stay before or after the flight.

Rooms are comfortable & clean. The food is tasty & of good quality.

No instructions on how to get there. Taxes wouldn’t take us. Ended up pushing our luggage on a cart for 20 minutes. Staff was nice and helpful once we got there. Very dated hotel. Needs a good cleaning. 4 stars probably 2-3

Well located, but dated hotel.

Well located hotel with free transport to and from the hotel. Good place if you need a place to sleep for an early morning flight.
Hotel itself is dated and service is ok, but no where near to the standards you get from the island resorts.
Poolside bar is reasonable value and the A La Carte restaurant on the 4th floor had a good selection for dinner and buffet breakfast.
We paid c. $360 for one night, which is a bit steep.

Overall it did the job, but I think we would try an alternative next time.

The hotel is really close to the airport in Male and very convenient for early morning transfers to other islands if your international flight arrives too late for seaplane or boat transfer to your island resort. There is a shuttle from the airport that comes every 20 minutes. Check in is simple and the front desk staff were polite and friendly. They had our seaplane flight information for the next day all set and have clear instructions on what time to meet at the lobby. The staff offered 2 glasses of apple juice to cool down. The room is clean and had all we needed for a good nights rest. They had a fruit platter and chocolates at the room which was a nice touch. Breakfast buffet was good; plenty to choose from and also a cook was available to make eggs waffles and pancakes on order. Wait staff friendly and very attentive. Overall a great transfer hotel!

This hotel was terrible, and I can not believe the price is approaching 400USD per night. The checking in service was disgusting. I have waited for 60mins at 11PM local time. And the room was garbage, I have never see a hotel like this one, pay them well and in exchange they provide the terrible service. I will never never select this hotel

We stayed for one night in this hotel before our transfer to one of the resort Islands.
It was perfect for airport stopover, they collect you from the airport, deliver your bags to your room, welcome drink on arrival, quick check in and out, rooms are a great size very comfortable and clean.
The staff at this hotel are Amazing, Nev a gentleman who worked at reception helped us out the night we arrived as there was an issue with our sea plane, he went above and beyond his duty to help us. He is a credit to the hotel.
Another staff member ensured we had a quick breakfast before we left as we were caught for time he was so efficient.
The only issue we had with the hotel was the high price for one night.

Expensive, Dirty, and unhelpful staff

We were told that this hotel was 4 to 5 star and was a great place to spend the night since our sea plane to our actual resort was cancelled due to poor weather. Check-in took over one hour since they said the last minute booking from Expedia didn't show up in their email. I showed them our confirmation several times and they said they needed another 5 minutes 4 more times. We had been traveling for over 13 hours at this point with a 2 year old and my wife who is 11 weeks pregnant. It was only after I told them to hold my credit card, but to give us a room now, did the management agree to let us into the room. The \"Deluxe Sea View Room\" had the door lock broken, one faucet broken and a good solid inch of dust and garbage under the bed (noticed upon leaving to make sure our daughter didn't leave anything there). WiFi is charged as an extra which we were certainly not going to add to the extreme room charge that we already paid..
The only highlight was when we checked out early the next morning, the person at the front desk asked us \"how was your stay?\" To which I responded \"terrible\" and he requested for the feedback form to be filled out. Other people that were on the cancelled flight stayed in a hotel that cost a fraction of the cost that we had to spend.
I would humbly say for you to consider any other hotel.

We are staying here for the night before our transfer to our resort in the Maldives. It was close to the airport and generally fine, but was not the most comfortable as the whole place was a bit humid and the AC was somewhat working but sometimes does not appear to work.

Probs- not of the hotels making - Maldives ingeneral - , lax health and safety, everything priced (rip off prices) in US dollars. If you are in the middle of the pacific you are going to get fleeced - just be aware before you go and it will not spoil your holiday.

A Transit Hotel

The hotel has garnered mixed ratings, probably based on mixed expectations and the relatively high cost. First, this is not a resort Hotel. It is simply a convienent transit Hotel or perhaps a Business Hotel to see clients in Male. Those expecting even the least \"resort\" nature to it will be disappointed. As a transit hotel, it is relatively clean, serves a decent buffet breakfast, and staff are generally friendly. There is a small beach and some limited recreational facilities to while away the time until leaving for a true resort or the airport for departure. Costs in the Maldives are high, so while many hav argued about their \"captive\" experience, the room costs are fairly consistent with the uplifted resort costs that are seen. My advice is to accept the hotel for what it is mainly for (transit/business), and try to suppress your inner voice that will constantly compare (and complain about) the cost of things in the Maldives to home. Its a beautiful place to visit, and cost are just part of thje program. So summing up the Hulhule, it is a Motel 6 for the Maldives, nothing more, and nothing less.

Hulhule -- What lack of competition can lead to.

Hulhule is your only choice on the airport island. No competition implies no need to compete on service levels and comfort. Though we had explicitly asked and asked twice for a non-smoking room during reservation, at check-in we were taken to a smoking room that stank. We argued and we were then given a non-smoking room. The rooms are pretty basic. Nothing much to write about.

The room cost us about 75% of what we paid at the Vivanta by Taj Coral Reef, but the service levels were only 25% of what we experienced at the Taj.

Again. You don't really have a choice of hotels. All you can do is to put-up with the mediocrity.

Hulhule Hotel in Male

This is the only hotel in Male you do not need to get a boat to. It is very convenient from that aspect. In addition the hotel iteslf is very nice and the breakfast had a huge variety set overlooking the water. The bar was also a welcome relief as we landed at night! Overall a very good hotel that I would recommend to anyone in transit to and from a Maldives resort.

Excellent for what we needed it for

Hulhule is generally a stopover hotel between arriving in the Maldives and going out to the islands. However saying that, it is an excellent hotel in it's own right. The restaurant food was excellent and the staff very good. Rooms and the whole hotel were clean and tidy. The pool and pool bar area was great too -especially for relaxing after our flight. We did have a bit of a miserable girl on check-out, but then she was trying to deal with some very rude airline staff so we forgave her. If I was going to the Maldives again, I wouldn't hesitate in staying here again.
