I've never stayed in hostels before but I really enjoyed our stay here.
The facilities were great, very nice kitchen area, nice shared bathroom and good room and bed. No complaints. We had supper watching the falls.

Stayed here for three nights as a base to explore south Iceland. Big place with many rooms (50ish?). Kitchen was excellent: huge space, four separate induction cooking surfaces, two fridge/freezers, nice coffee maker. Never felt crowded to be in kitchen given it's size. Plenty of separate WCs and showers: rarely had to wait for either. Rooms were very dorm like.

Quiet hours mostly followed; quiet enough to sleep even though many people/full capacity. Although \"hostel\", most people there were 25+. Not a rowdy place as some hostels can be.

Our biggest issue was that our room was v moldy and smelt like wet socks. Probably due to fact it was next to showers. We kept the windows open most of the time there and that helped a bit. This was really our only complaint about this location but it did mean we didn't want to spend any time in our room other than sleeping.

Finally, we did find Skogar to be a good base for exploration: much more laid back and not overcrowded compared to Vik but not that far from it in a car (25m). Can easily walk to Skogafoss (30m), Kvernufoss (25m), and museum (5-10m). We would probably stay here again but ask to be located further from the showers in case that was the issue with our room.

We booked a room mistakenly one day late than we needed. When I found it out one day before our check in time, we were not able to make the change because it passed the free cancellation deadline. So we booked another room. Upon our arrival, the staff found our situation and agreed to give full refund for the mistakenly booked room without our asking. He was super nice and helpful. The room and bathroom are very clean. We appreciated it truly.

We enjoyed Skogar hostel! We arrived late after a hike and left early before a long commute to another glacier hike. The staff member checking us in was very friendly, the beds were more comfortable than we anticipated, and the kitchen was well equipped. There was an issue with one of the showers not properly functioning (no hot water and the faucet was wonky), but the other two of us showered fine. It is noteworthy that guests must strip their own linen in the morning and put them into laundry bins - which we were fine with. Overall, a good stay for 3 women travelling who booked a room with a bunk bed and single bed. Not certain it the price was aligned with value, but we are only three nights into our adventure.

Great location, next to tourist waterfall and start of long-distance hiking trail. Hotel, restaurant and hostel all in the same complex. Helpful staff at check-in. Good facilities in hostel - bathrooms, kitchen and dining areas. There's not really a proper lounge despite that being suggested in the property description - just a couple of armchairs in a corridor with a TV fixed to the wall. Unfortunately the washing machine was broken during my stay. No location facilities in the village, like a grocery shop; the nearest is more than 20km away.

Corners cut from the hostel

Room was very dirty like brown streaks underneath the mattress. The sheets were not really that clean and the floors were super sticky in places. The cost was not so expensive so it’s alright if you need a cheap place to stay.

Loved the location - right beside the falls, restaurant on site, and fully equipped kitchen, 4 showers, and laundry facilities. The rooms themselves were small and the bedding not terribly comfy, but happy there was a sink. I'd recommend adding some hooks/shelving so people can change up/store a few things to give them more space in the room. Night Lights would also be helpful as the hallway between corridors got quite dark and made the journey to the bathroom in the middle of the night quite spooky.

We went to this hostel and were unable to stay the night we originally booked. We talked to the owner who said he would refund the amount after hotels.com contacted. However, when hotels.com contacted the owner they refused to provide a refund even though we were told the day before they would.

Das Hostel ist eigentlich vollkommen okay. Tolle große Gemeinschaftsküche, sauber, warm, ordentlich und gute Lage.
Was überhaupt gar nicht und auf keinen Fall klar geht, ist die Lautstärke der Türen. Bei jedem Öffnen eines der Zimmertüren im Gang hört man deutlich bis in das eigene Zimmer hinein das viermalige Piepen der Türcodezahlen und anschließend kann man sich schon auf das Knallen der Zimmertür einstellen. Das passiert je nach Auslastung alle paar Minuten, nämlich immer dann, wenn jemand entweder das Zimmer verlässt (Rums!) oder das Zimmer betritt (piep,piep,piep,piep....Rums!). Das geht so bis spät in die Nacht hinein. Geht für einen Ort an dem man übernachten will so überhaupt gar nicht klar! Hier sollten die Inhaber unbedingt zeitnah in lautlose Codeschlösser, zumindest aber in dicke Tür-Gummidichtungen investieren. Ständig knallende Türen sind ein 100%iges NO GO.

The facility of the shared bathroom is too simple, no facility to put our stuff- like new dry cloth. Then guests have to only cover a tower to the bathroom.

Only 2 Toiletts for the whole Hostel, in the morning you will always wait...
Kitchen has not very basic stuff like salt for free...
In my 2 bed room was an insect...

Good is the location. Closest possible location to Skogafalls. But would not be critical to find some other place in this area, because next to the waterfall is a large parking place.
Good is also the big kitchen and except salt etc. rest is available.
Also around 6 showers available, not critical

Prima hostel met aardige medewerkers

Prima plek om te slapen na het lopen van de Laugavegur. Aardige mensen, goede service, goede douches en een prima uitgerust hostel. Het ontbijt is prima, vers en uitgebreid. Ga vooral naar het nabijgelegen museum om te zien hoe de IJslanders vroeger leefden en hun technologische ontwikkeling.

Bien mais trop cher.

Accueil rapide et sympathique. Chambre petite, literie ok. Très bruyant, nous étions dans le même couloir que la machine à laver, le sèche linge, les toilettes et les douches donc beaucoup d'aller retour. L'électricité a sauté plusieurs fois. Cher pour ce que c'est même si c'est tout à fait correct.
