Clean motel in beautiful area. Unfortunately the only place you can take advantage of the view is the picnic table in the parking lot. Small window in room with no view of much and the room with all the windows and seating that is advertised is only open for breakfast. Too much money for a bed and a bathroom with poor water pressure.

Quaint place near Vik

At first it was a little shocking because it was in the middle of nowhere. Check in was a little confusing. Be sure to let them know in advance when you are arriving. The rooms were clean and the common area cute. We didn’t have breakfast. It was close to Vik.

The property is perfectly located. It’s nothing fancy but with the prices the way they are in Iceland. I think this is just perfectly lovely. The room has twin beds, sink, and mirror, storage for your bags, a chair , nightstands, and a hot pot with teabags and coffee cups. It has a shared bathroom and a shower in the bathroom.There is a very nice dining room. I wish we had not brought so many groceries and had eaten in the dining room for me to be able to give a review. They do have a small group refrigerator and microwave.
If you fly into Reykjavík one day, the Guest house is just the right distance. The next warning we got up and went horseback riding Vik, then explore the black beach and there are so many other places to go down south.

Good distance from Vik as well as the ferry.
We were disappointed that there were no common dining facilities to eat our dinner as the dining room was only open at breakfast if you paid to get their breakfast. No food allowed in the common tv room either.
There is a fridge and microwave but not dishware so bring some if you intend to eat your own food.
Room and bathrooms are clean and comfortable and the sink in the room was convenient. The hostess was very nice!

Guesthouse Vellir is a hostel that I only ventured into the hallway where my room was. I’m not sure how many rooms, but in my hallway, there were 11 with 2 bathrooms. The room I was in was ok, but definitely not great. The bed was not very comfortable, though better than some I have slept in. The area is fairly quiet, but a bit far from the road.
The woman running the hostel is quite nice and very welcoming.

I chose the property because it said breakfast was included and there was a restaurant on the property. There was no breakfast or restaurant. They had an area for it but is was closed down. The walls were thin. I could here the person in the next room snoring all night. Closest town was about 15 to 20 minute drive. The online pictures were a little deceiving.

The guesthouse is surrounded by pure beauty of which we were in awe. The host was so sweet and we felt safe & comfortable during our stay. We were satisfied with our room and felt like it met our needs well. It’s a great place to see the aurora, because there is no light pollution. We would definitely return. Highly recommend!

Exceeded my expectations, friendly host who waited for us since we arrived 20 minutes passed the end of check out time (call ahead though if you’re running late). This was exactly as described. My sister and I shared a double twin bed room with shared bathroom. We never dealt with unclean bathrooms and showers were readily available despite plenty of other guests. The decor was charming and heart felt and the common space was comfortable and inviting. The surrounding area was gorgeous and we got to see the northern lights in the pitch black of the countryside, just hearing the sheep bleeting at us and ocean waves crashing behind them.

This guesthouse was quite remote from any restaurants. We drove 20 minutes to get our dinner. However, the room was pretty clean and the location was off the main road by about a mile, so it was a quiet place. There is no signage on the main road. We would have missed it without GPS. We declined to purchase breakfast, as the price was quite high. Friendly staff.

Check-in was at 4pm, we arrived at 4:15 to a “closed” sign and no one around. We then drove to the closest town to call, the host answered and told us to come back! The amount of stress we experienced due to the remote location and possibly finding a different “guest house” was not good. We went back and the women at the desk was very nice but lacked any empathy to the inconvenience.
We left early to find a particular waterfall and when we return there was a gentlemen who spoke little to no English asking us to leave! Check-out was 11am and we returned to the property at 10am. We quickly showered and left.

We messed up. Booked too late, everything else was sold out, so we ended up here—a $400-a-night hostel. Weird waterfall mural scotch taped to the wall. Prison bathroom with plastic sheets in the corner for the shower. Truck stop industrial toilet paper and soap dispenser. $400.

Breakfast? Thirty more bucks. Per person. Not included in the $400.
For context, four nights later, we stayed in a suite at the Reykjavik Hilton for less. (full breakfast included.)

Iceland is beautiful but getting so little value for so much $ off like this will hurt your soul and diminish your experience. So learn from us: plan ahead. Don't wait until the last minute to book a room or you will end up here and you will be sad and poor.

The guesthouse location was convenient for our time in the southern coast of Iceland. We spent 2 nights there and had the end room, so there was plenty of light coming into our small room. The shower fixture was not working well, so it was difficult to take a relaxing shower and the room walls were thin, but overall we enjoyed our time at the hotel. We did not buy the breakfast, but it appeared tasty. Parkimg was ample and free.

We had to take off our shoes before entering the lobby and our rooms. We were provided comfy slippers or could walk about in our socks.

Was a small guesthouse about 15-20 min driving distance from the town of Vik. Run by one woman who was very kind. Breakfast was extra and was very limited. When we arrived we were planning to have dinner at the guesthouse but we were told there was no dinner that night and so after a long day we had to drive into Vik to eat. We had to remove our shoes every time we entered. Overall was fine for 2 nights but if I return I would stay in Vik proper.

We stayed in the superior double room with private bathroom and it was lovely. Lots of space, a refrigerator and an upgraded bathroom. It was convenient to Skogafoss, Vik, Cape Dyrholeay where we saw puffins, and the Black Sand beach. This was our first stay in a \"guesthouse\" and I did not realize we needed to check in by 9pm and call ahead. Of course I was shocked after traveling all day to the southern coast and arriving at 11pm to find an empty front desk with a phone number to call. They were so kind though.

I stayed in one of the single rooms, no private bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, the space was very comfortable to use as I explored the south of Iceland and it is close to many wonderful sights, and near enough to Vik for amenities.

The breakfast option was an additional cost, and too expensive to be worthwhile for me. It is a no frills experience, very simple and straightforward. Check in is at 4 PM and no staff is present until then, making it a bit stressful if you arrive and don't know that.

Quiet country guesthouse on the way to Vik

Lovely remote guesthouse with great views. We stayed in room 12 with the winter white theme and loved it. Totally renovated. A few hooks in bathroom as well as a mirror in the room would be a good addition. Standard kettle with instant coffee and tea as well as fridge and hairdryer and bathrobes provided in Our room. Bed was comfy. Room was clean. Tracy, the owner was lovely and her dog Nero is the sweetest. We saw the northern lights here and it was out of this world. So many stars and the darkness was magical! They do have a restaurant but it is just for breakfast so need a car as it’s remote. Thank you Tracy for your help!!

The views on both sides of the property are beautiful- the ocean on one side and a glacier on the other. The guesthouse is one story with only about 10 rooms with private baths. There is an optional breakfast in a breakfast room with those great views. The beds are comfortable. We were traveling with our adult son for a wedding and we were all comfortable. The owner is very nice and we loved their dog!
