Room was good. I am not a fan of self check in. I think it is bad service.

Sharing a wall with another accommodation here was extremely noisy. The people next to us came and went at all hours of the night and early mornings and it was so extremely loud and disruptive. The cleaner also arrived at 8am and had music on very loud singing, banging around while cleaning. It was not a peaceful stay at all.

Pictures online are deceptive. There’s no privacy in any of the cottages without closing your curtains. Beds were uncomfortable and the bathroom one of the smallest I’ve ever been in. The facility is unmanned and you have to download an app to check in. They did respond quickly to the messages I left on Orbitz. Location is convenient, right in town.

This is an amazing accommodation when visiting Vik. It is in a very convenient location. You can easily walk into town. The cabin was comfortable, clean and had everything you would need. I was worried when I read a review about the walls being paper-thin. I disagree, there is adequate soundproofing. We only heard people when they were entering the other half of the cabin.

No human contact for check-in. Discovered that cottages aren’t private, contain two guest rooms. To find correct room you have to open exterior door and there are several other cabins/cottages in the area. Walls were paper thin. Could hear everything. Might as well have been sharing a tent with the neighbors. Picked this place because I thought it was affordable. Do not recommend. Would stay somewhere else next time.

Vik is a very small town. The only upscale hotel is Vik ì Mýrdal. Cottages are owned by them. 2 rooms per cottage. Bathroom is extremely small esp the shower. Minimal convenience in the room. But comfortable overall.

The rooms are soooo small and the bathroom is really odd. Probably here only for a quick short time so not a huge issue. It is quite odd though to the right of you is a whole area where the campers park so it feels like you are staying in a trailer park when you look outside. But it was clean and simple. Only one tiny window opens so if it is a warm day it is quite warm in the room.

As others have mentioned, this is not really a cottage but more like a little duplex. We were lucky and had someone quite attached to ours, but if you had a couple loud kids etc next door it could be bad. There also are no amenities here, the coffee is instant and there is really no place to sit. Also, you get several contradictory emails from them about check in. I simply went to the front desk at the hotel and the guys was super nice and it was ultimately easy to check in.

We had a little hiccup with check in. Never received the SMS or email for check in instruction. Had to call when arrived and found out I can check in at the hotel located next to the cottage. The cottage is of a bit small size, basic furniture, comfortable bed but heavy duvet, uncomfortable pillows (very soft). The bathroom is tiny with tiny sink. And it has mild sewer odor so we had to keep the bathroom door closed, which prevents the ventilation of the bathroom since the only ventilation of the cottage is a tiny window above the bed. There is no view from the front window which can’t be opened. It’s overlooking some industrial equipment and camper vans parking lot which was nearly fully occupied. The pictures shown in Bnb is from the front of the cottage, so it’s a bit deceiving. However the reception and the person who answered my call are super friendly and helpful. I would recommend to check on some cottages right around the black beach which is about 3 miles away, not the black sand beach that is walkable from this cottage.

The check-in process is a bother. They ask that you download an app and use that for communication regarding cottage number and door code. So, you go through all those steps and await check-in information that doesn't arrive via the app, but through email. The app is never used again since check-out is simply scanning a QR code on the back of your door. The app needs to be done away with.

Our room 1H did not have a working tv and the shower doors did not meet the floor so the water came out from the bottom and got the entire floor wet. Otherwise it was average at best. Would not stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Vik Cottages and our meal at the associated hotel. We were lucky enough to see the northern lights there for the first time!
The only downside was that the wifi in our room didn’t work, as well as the TV, and the controls on the bathroom heater (so it had to stay on a high temperature). Unfortunately, by the time we realized this, it was too late to have someone look into it, but staff was apologetic for the inconvenience. Overall, we would recommend staying here.

The cabins are cute. There are two separate rooms in each cabin, each have their own key, privacy not an issue. I was a little disappointed in the views, I didn’t expect to see a camping spot and other buildings in front of the cabins. While the view was lacking, the location was very convenient for shopping and dining. Overall the rooms were good.

Premium prices for below average accommodation.The door handle of the room was broken and the wind kept slamming the door open. Ended up at having to tie the door closed with a shoelace in the middle of the night. Blanket was barely larger than a towel. No hot water in the morning and a very indifferent staff.

Overall a solid accommodation with a fairly comfortable bed. Only negative is that the cottage's each have two rooms and the walls are thinner than your typical hotel in Vik. So you are constantly hearing the muffled voices and feeling the footsteps of the other room which takes you out of a relaxed state.
