Upon check-in I was given a room that wasn’t the one I had paid for, when I complained the staff told me that it was valentines weekend so they are very busy, after a while they agreed to move me. I got food poisoning from a room service club sandwich and was very ill for 4 days. The hotel room air con was very noisy and didn’t work very well. The room only had hot water when you left the bath tap and sink tap on for over 5 minutes. The room was only on the 8th floor so this was very odd. I complained about this twice. Overall the hotel room was very worn and the bed I had wasn’t very comfortable. I also found it very odd that I was given a wristband and charged for having a pool lounger with a towel in a 4/5 star hotel!
To be fair though the majority of the staff are extremely friendly and nice.

Had to change 3 times room, 1. No airco, 2. Door could not close properly, 3. Decided to pay extra and got an upgraded room and cpuld sleep with airco but no warm water. Supposed to be 5stars, at tye rates charged. Is just poorly run with people who are not interested to help you. I am a platinum member with accor, di could care less.

The rooms were excellent, clean, and tastefully furnished. The staff were friendly and always ready to help. The food at the restaurants were outstanding! Overall, it was a superb experience, and will surely stay here again if my trip passes through Abidjan again, and will undoubtedly recommend this facility to anyone.

Not a great hotel, had issues from pickup to checkout.

I ordered a car via the hotel for airport pickup.
The car was dirty and had mosquitos
Upon check in it took 30mins to get room key.

Room was clean but dark, not enough light.
No hot water, Aircon was not working and shower was leaking. Call maintaince, they repaired shower and hot water. Aircon the lowest it would go was 23degrees.

Checkout, Printing invoice, agent advised they would email the invoice. Coming to a week still waiting on invoice. Have sent message via hotels.com and direct email no responce.

Excellent property, with plenty of space, pool, and grounds. Staff are generally quite helpful — and certain several particularly so, beyond what could reasonably be expected — though things can sometimes take longer than anticipated. Regular maintenance is clearly conducted. Gym could do with more updated machinery but still quite good.

Hotel ivoire used to be the beacon of Abidjan. While still ok, there are things you do no expect in a property like this : hot water a couple hours a day only, slimy pool bottom and milky water, ladies of the night invading the bar areas after 8pm are among the disappointments. On the other hand, the personal is extremely attentive, helpful and nice.

This was the worst hotel stay I’ve ever experienced. I booked and paid for Sofitel. They put me in what the call The Towers. Elevators did not work. Stuck in one working elevator during stay. Staff extremely rude. If you don’t speak French, no one cares about you. Housekeeping was a daily nightmare. Room service was awful. Spoke to management who said they’ll move me to main hotel. It never happened. Worst hotel experience ever.

If you expect guest to adhere to a check out time, you should adhere to a check-in time. It was very unpleasant to get stuck in the elevator and be forced to take the stairs. Housekeeping never properly replaced items in the room. Laundry lost my items. Overall at the price point, I was disappointed.

Everything was ok until the last day when i wanted to connect a different laptop to the hotel network for an emergency task around 6am. After numerous calls to the front desk, i was finally told the technical staff donest arrive until 8am. How does a hotel of this magnitude not have on call helpdesk, knowing guests come from different time zone? Anyway, i had to check out before they arrive and connect elsewhere.

The property location is ideal for your trips around Abidjan. The building itself is fantastic. The staff was very helpful. Special shout-outs to Roland the bellboy, and the lady cleaning the 11th floor during my stay; they were amazing and very helpful.

Sofitel is definitely one of the nicer hotels in Abidjan. Some areas are a bit dated, but the rooms in the Tower are very nice and quite modern. They could use some extra lighting as the room can seem a bit dim at times.
Most of the staff are amazing, eager to please and be helpful. All is not perfect however, for instance when we asked the concierge to help us find a car to Grand-Bassam, the price we were quoted was more than double the standard rate; the kick-back system in place really doesn't favour clients. We used drivers recommended by our local contacts thereafter and paid much much less.
Also, the pool staff are free to play their own music at the pool; they usually put it very loud and sometimes seem to disagree about what CDs to use, which means songs get interrupted half-way through or you might have a whole afternoon of funeral music (as we did).
Aside from that, the hotel is safe and comfortable. The staff at reception and at the restaurants are really great. The African cuisine restaurant Le Pavillon serves lovely local fares.
We enjoyed the proximity of the Casino Barrière (within the Sofitel property) for entertainment in the evening and late hours of the bar.

The huge pool was cool, although cloudy.
As with ALL hotels lately, you’re forced to sleep under a heavy, oppressive “comforter” or duvet or whatever you call those damn things. It requires refrigerating the room down to ridiculous arctic conditions which is wasteful and unpleasant. Otherwise, it’s too hot under all that stuffing to sleep. Please bring back sheets and blankets. Thank you.

Overpriced and very poor service

One of the worst hotels I have stayed in. Very overpriced for what you receive. I had no hot water so had to move rooms. When I checked out I was charged for breakfast despite it being included on my booking, and the receptionist was so rude and insisted I was wrong. Very poor hotel and I would have expected a lot better from the Sofitel chain. I am likely to be staying in Abidjan in future and will not be staying here, and will not be recommending it to others.

The restaurants lack food for a 5 star hotel of the type. I was there during Ramadan so occupancy was less. But expect better quality at Sofitel. Vegetarian options needed as well.

Service at all of the restaurants and bars are horrible - workers are not responsive. I should not have to hound or track down a bartender for a drink or wait twenty minutes for coffee. And the food is way too expensive - as a percentage vs value, much more than any hotel I’ve stayed in, in the world. Otherwise great hotel.

Beautiful resorts with many things in the cocody

Beautiful resort with restaurants, bars, huge pool, spa, casino, shops, etc... in the chic neighborhood of Cocody by the lagoon. I was upgraded in a junior suite on high floor. Beautiful view over Abidjan, confortable room with all amenities needed. The only downside is that the hotel is getting old and need to be refreshed especially the rooms. Overall great hotel that I recommend for business or family trips.

I ask 2 times in my stay breakfast at room, and two time they forget to send it until i ask for my breakfast. And one day i come back to the room no showell was in the room after 3 time i ask for and one hour i get showell.
Without this inconvenience this is a very nice hotel and very comfortable.

Wonderful garden with many charis & fine riverview

Sofitel hotel has a beautiful and wide garden with many chair, wide and various pools and fine river view. These facility is top 3 in Africa, I think (I have been to more than 25 African countries).
No buffet restaurant is small week point though there is two A la carte restaurants.

Nice hotel in keeping with Sofitel brand. The property is essentially two hotels linked by a corridor with art work hung (for sale). Be sure to establish whether you are in a tower room , generally larger. Restaurants in the hotel are good but extremely expensive.

very large hotel with many amenities. the rooms were clean and comfortable, except my a/c unit keep going down to 17 C degrees; a little chilly. There were several restaurants in the hotel, however it was very expensive for the food. they have added a movie theater in the facility, plus there is a bowling alley for entertainment.

The Exchange rate at the hotel is very low.

I had a great stay but only a problem with the hotels very low exchange rate. If you have to pay in another currency it's better you make the exchange to CFA at the airport.

High end hotel in Abidjan...pricey!!!

Stayed in the other building, not the tower. Room is much more modern than in the tower. Service seems to have tightened up significantly. However, is very pricy... $5 for a bottle of water, $36 for breakfast buffet, $50 for brunch...high end hotel with very good service and French touch!

My experience was mixed. The rooms were good but the overall services were very slow. The restaurant was super slow. It took them more than a hour to serve dinner.

Hotel retreat in a quiet area of Abidjan

The staff at this hotel were so nice and went out of their way to make my stay at the hotel enjoyable, from the reception people to the outdoor pool staff. Catherine Kouwkou, hostess at the Restaurant Gourmandise, was especially gracious about filling every request at breakfast and lunch.
My only complaint is about the heavy duvet covers on the bed, in a city where the temperature reached 97 degrees F. You're supposed to sleep on top of a feather pillow top on the mattress as well as a thick duvet on top of you. It's ridiculously hot to sleep in such an arrangement. I had to unmake the bed to get the feather pillow-top off and take the duvet out of the cover sheet. It was thicker than the duvets one sees in Swiss hotels where the temps are much lower!

it was a very nice hotel, about 25 min away from airport. The check in was a breeze, the hotel had a nice lounge with two restaurants and bars. All staff was very friendly and helpful. Although i dont speak French, all staff was fluent in English.
