Well when i have to open the front door with a key after a certain time doesnt make me feel real confident. My room only had a door handle with a lock not even a deadbolt. For what i paid i wouldnt expect anything much better as far as the room. The room was comfy and cozy. I felt that the bar tender was not real customer freindly unless you drink. The place was just ok.

Room number 1 fantastic view!! 2 balconies !! Clean room!! Friendly staff!! House keeper was amazing!! Restaurant service was lacking. But that was easily remedied by the many other wonderful spots to eat within walking distance. Will definitely return and definitely recommend this gem of a property!

Room was clean, but not modern. Staff very friendly but no one at the front desk after 10:00 pm. The solar water heater was not always giving hot water. But the view was splendid, right on the water. I loved being lulled to sleep by crashing waves. Would definitely stay there again.

I'm giving this place a 5 star because I don't think they deserve really low score and I actually did enjoy my stay overall.

Really friendly, polite and courteous staff. My room must have been recently renovated, everything looks new and really clean. It's not the quietest (you'd be able to hear people talking if they are right outside your room), but we're not there to stay in the room the whole time!

Bathroom is really basic, I'd say bring your own toiletries if you're particular, this is not a 5* establishment so don't expect much.

Location is top notch. Island internet/phone connection, but who cares, I was there to relax on the beach!

Check-in was delayed for almost an hour. We arrived at 11:00 p.m. and called the late check-in phone number and couldn't reach anyone for almost an hour.

This hotel was perfect! We flew to Puerto Rico for the Bad Bunny concert. The hotel was cute, it had a Moroccan vibe to it! Comfy bed, good water pressure in the shower. We liked the small kitchenette… perfect!!! Marlene was sweet and helpful. Great location with lots of eating options. Ocean park beach within walking distance.

This may be true for the entire Island, but the staff were amazing- Sweet, accomodating, and ready with recommendations. The hotel doesn't have much in terms of amenities but if you are ok with a \"beach-bum\" vibe; this place is amazing. It is literally on the beach!

This is not for resort-driven folks. It’s is by the ocean and you can practically reach down and dip your toes in at high tide. With that comes the sea spray wear. That said there seems to be wear… but that is what happens under these conditions.
Once you get your bearings about that, the beds are comfortable, the rooms are a good size, the staff is A++ and the restaurant food and service is great.
If you like an Old Dan Juan by the sea feel, this has it with a smile.

AVOID THIS PLACE!- only giving a one star to be able to write a review. This place would get 0 stars

Our experience here was incredibly disappointing. The room had mold on the ceiling, rusty metal on the bed frame, and the sheets and towels were dirty. Be aware that there’s no elevator, so you’ll have to carry all your luggage up the stairs. We only stayed for about 30 minutes to check out the facility, and it looked nothing like the beautiful images on their booking site.

We immediately requested a refund, but the front desk staff denied our request and he refused to answer calls from Expedia when we were standing right there while the phone was running, despite knowing they were trying to reach him. To make matters worse, we saw the cook handling food with her bare hands. I found this experience very unprofessional and felt it could have been handled much differently. This experience completely ruined our family trip as we had to scramble to find another place to stay.

Great low key, laid back spot right by the beach. Location is in a secure gated community, all who enter required to buzz security at the gate for entry. Close to nearby tourist spots and perfect place to have brunch/lunch with a ocean front view. Would recommend and come back for a visit.

Hosteria del Mar has something unique about it: its location. It's located right on the ocean with a very relaxing view. It's not a luxurious hotel, but it depends on your purpose of travel. The service from the staff was excellent, especially that of Mr. Anibal, who welcomed us with his charismatic charm. Overall, if you're looking for a luxurious hotel, this isn't the Hosteria del Mar. However, if you're looking for a relaxing, family-friendly atmosphere with great food and a wonderful breeze, and a place to spend the night, I highly recommend it.

Room was filthy. Bodily fluids on the sheets. Furniture was stained and filthy. Pubic hair in the toilet. No screens in the rooms so was very bright and loud at night time.

Stayed one night and left to another resort because it was so bad. Will never ever recommended it to anyone. Disgusting

Old hotel, but clean. No free water, had to pay for water. The older gentleman and woman at the front desk were very friendly. Jon at the front desk was very rude. Restaurant and bar opened a little bit after scheduled operating hours but the restaurant and bar staff were very friendly and provided excellent service. This was a lovely oceanfront property. Steps away from the ocean with a good sized beach and property owned lounge chairs. Great spot to watch kite surfers! The water was blue and warm, but the surf was rough when we were there (beg. of April). Our king sized bed was soft and the bedding was very soft as well. Our room was cleaned daily. We had a small balcony that was a perfect size. We had a delicious meal at the restaurant on site. We found seaglass walking in either direction on the shore in rocky areas. Wifi was available in the lobby and restaurant, and usually reached to the beach nearby. Easy walk to local restaurants and stores. This is in a gated community, you can walk in and out of the gate from 6a-6p or otherwise need to walk a few blocks to the main entrance after hours. Uber was around $10 to and from the airport.

I liked my ocean front balcony view of the beach and the staff was wonderful, I did not like that they had no bottle water, the room offered a coffee maker but no coffee filters, cups or coffee to brew and that there is NO parking on premises, you have to be lucky to find a nearby parking spot on the side of the road. The Dining area is serene with a beautiful view of the beach, the food was ok.

The hotel lacked electricity, and there was no one at the front desk. When we finally reached someone, they informed us there was nothing they could do. The entire place was very dark and scary, making us feel unsafe. Now, I have to deal with getting a refund. Horrible experience!

The rooms are not insulated against noise, and any person walking through the halls makes a lot of notice. One guest heard loud music until 3 am, and every time he opened the door, we woke up with hearts wanting to leave our bodies with the strenuous noise of heavy metal rock.

We enjoyed our stay at Hosteria Del Mar with it's eclectic charm and vintage feel, and the clerk and bartender were very nice and provided good service. The room was clean and comfortable. The beach was really nice and hotel guests were offered beach chairs.

This property was close at 11:20 pm when we arrived after a wedding party . Nobody answer the phone at the lobby and had to go to a friends house because we didn’t have a place to stay. This is the worse experience in my live with Expedia and a reservation. I will not recommend this place never.

He said that he wanted to kill me and take my other half all kinds of things the place was not very safe but it was very good to stay at because of the beach right on the ocean. Hidden Gem!

This local hotel is amazing! The pictures they post do not do it justice. This is not a typical hotel--it is small, and the rooms are scattered among beautiful, plant-filled courtyards. The place is literally 30 feet from the bright blue ocean. You are practically at the water in the open-air restaurant and bar. The fish tacos (local mahi mahi) were the best thing I ate all week in the city. The beach is great, but you can also walk a short distance to the local public beach for more views. I will absolutely be back!

I wanted to stay here to see the sunset while dining.
The weather turned really bad and the whole area was flooded and no electricity. Thankfully they have generator and even though the kitchen was closed they accommodated us with salad and shrimps. We were sooo great full!!! The employees there are great!

The lady at check in was great and so was the lady at the bar . The older gentlemen at front desk was not friendly at all i said ho to him twice just looked at me and didn’t say anything I asked him for soap and he said housekeeping would take it to the room I waited about an hour and I came back to ask him he had it the whole time. He could have taken it to the room himself literally like 10 ft away from the room . The night before I left I asked one of the young gentlemen there if they had laundry service and he said yes so the next morning I asked the older gentleman if I can get laundry service and he said they didn’t have it. So overall the made it uncomfortable walking by front desk and jist was not friendly hospitable or professional. I hope they dotn keep my deposit which the lady said they would give back and when I asked him he said it was just a hold so I how they don’t charge it.

Clogged shower drain flooded 1/3 of room. Staff was indifferent about situation. When I asked for a later check out, as a result of flooded room and waiting on housekeeping for 45min, I was told it was still early and I had plenty of time before regular check out time to enjoy my stay. I checked out at regular time and issue was still unresolved.

Necesita remodelación en todas sus areas. Nuestras expectativas eran mucho más altas por el precio que pagamos. Estuvimos solo una noche para tomar un vuelo. La habitación necesita upgrade. Hay que subir escaleras para llegar a la mayoría de las habitaciones; esto no fue un problema para nosotros pero lo comento para quien le sea util. Al hacer el check in la persona demoró muchísimo, atendió el teléfono y en vez de pedir a la persona del teléfono que esperara un momento en linea, nosotros tuvimos que esperar a que se tomara el tiempo de atender la llamada. Salimos tarde en la noche y la llave del lobby no nos funcionó, tuvimos q llamar para que nos abrieran la puerta. Entendemos que la estructura es antigua pero estaría bien si la modernizara y actualizara. Los alrededores son seguros y accesibles, frente a la playa. No estuvo horrible pero no creo q regresemos. Muy costoso para las facilidades.

The staff was so nice and accommodating. The Beach is right there and the rooms are pretty decent. It is in a beautiful gated community with round the clock security. Outside the gate is yummy food spots that have cool aesthetics. Puerto Rico was gorgeous

Front desk associates were lovely and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean with a view of the ocean--felt like we were IN the water. Parking was easy with good access to airport. Nice beach was steps away. You cannot walk to restaurants. The hotel is in a neighborhood, which is lovely, but leaving the gated area feels unsafe. The restaurant in the hotel was not good and was very expensive. We walked 3 blocks in the neighborhood to either hotel for breakfast, which was very good. I would recommend for a one night stop, but I would not want to stay more than one night.

I love the layout of the property. Many of the rooms are located around a central courtyard on 2 levels, making each room unique and private. The restaurant is across from check in and separated from rooms so you don't hear the kitchen or customers when in your room. Great restaurant and friendly staff.

They canceled my reservation because they were full. If the hotel and expedia systems are not coordinated, they should not work together. I was notified of the cancellation at 10pm after several hours of making the reservation and when we left the concert where we were at 1am, we found ourselves without a room. Very bad service from both.

This is the 4th time i have stayed at this property, though it's been a long time since i was last there. I feel they should have let us know in advance that they no longer have a beach. Of course, it's not THEIR fault this happened. If nothing else, I feel they should provide portable beach chairs and an umbrella so guests can walk the 4 blocks to the beach that DOES remain and enjoy it. I have some mobility issues plus don't have the budget for frequent Ubers, so wasn't able to have the beach vacation I had planned. They also said we couldn't get a room with a refrigerator and microwave because we reserved through Expedia, but that was not noted anywhere in advance. That said, the staff there are great and everyone tried to be helpful -- especially the young bartender from Houston. They were very nice about giving me a 1-hour extension in check-out time even though they didn't have to. And while power is always an issue in PR, their back-up generator worked great!

Okay. So they stay was nice. The room was beautiful. The two gentleman who took care of us for breakfast was awesome. The lady’s that work the morning shift to afternoon where absolutely wonderful but there was one think that I did not like at all. The gentleman at night( heavyset) who works the night shift 6:00pm was nice but was giving me a hard time about the towels. He told me that towels are giving every two days smh. I look at him like he was joking with me but he was dead serious. So I said( so you expect me to use the towels for three day before I change them?) he said yes. I told him I needed towels right now and that what he just suggested was nasty. He gave them to me but look upset that he had to get up and get them. Later that morning I saw the house keeper and ask if I can get some more towels and with no hesitation she got it for me. I told here about the situation about the man with not giving me towels and expected me to use them for 3 days and she laughed but then told me that the man was a little lazy and pretty much wanted to just sit in the front . I am not the first one to talk about it. Other then that it was wonderful. Just don’t ask him for towels and wait for the morning. 💯
