It’s a beautiful guest house and in a lovely quiet spot. We were greeted very pleasantly by Dawn(?) who kindly showed us the wonderful facilities. If we ran a guest house this is exactly how we would do it. Our bedroom was beautiful with plenty of room and a very comfortable bed and a lovely shower. The views of the ocean are marvelously relaxing. The guest lounge was fabulous, again very relaxing with tea and coffee available as in the bedroom. The breakfast area is beautifully laid out and the food is absolutely delicious. My cooked breakfast (special of the day) was really lovely. I can thoroughly recommend the marmalade, I’ve never seen thick cut as chunky as this and it tasted divine. Finally, we have never seen such a clean guest house, thoroughly recommended.

Gem of a hotel in a peaceful gorgeous location

We were received with a very warm welcome . Our room was spacious and very clean and well equipped . Meryl advised us on where to go , where to avoid and gave us excellent restaurant recommendations . The views from the bedroom and hotel are gorgeous . Breakfast was outstanding . Highly recommended .

Exceptional Beachside Retreat

This guesthouse is undoubtedly one of the best beach B&Bs I’ve ever visited. The decor is charming, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Its location is spectacular, offering breathtaking views of the ocean. The hosts were incredibly sweet, making the stay even more enjoyable. The food was outstanding, and the view from the Oyster room was simply unbelievable. A perfect beachside retreat that I highly recommend!

Superb location and service

Hotel is in superb location with stunning views. We walked to local restaurants, the Fat Fish was superb. Excellent breakfast and staff who can’t do enough. Recommend it for your stay. Two very minor issues - sadly we didn’t have sea view and the wind blew the door open if not locked.

Excellent host and a wonderful location.

From a lovely welcome onwards our stay was relaxed, comfortable and exactly what we had hoped for.
Our 2 rooms were both very well plamned and equipped, and the upstairs room was particularly spacious.
Breakfast was tasty and gave us an opportunity to chat with both the hosts and a guest.
We could walk from the door to the beach in 2 minutes, and enjoyed both the upstairs deck and the garden when relaxing at the b&b.
Top marks for wonderful hosting. Thank you.

Beautiful ocean views & pristine hospitality

We were warmly welcomed, and shown to secure parking and a lovely room. Everything was completely clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated in coastal whites. It was a pleasure listening to the waves overnight. It is located right on the coast, and only about a 10-minute drive to Hermanus old harbour. Our hosts were extremely courteous and welcoming, and able to provide tips on parking in Hermanus, which we appreciated.

Let down by its cleanliness and the service

Very pretty guest house right on the beach in Sandbaai, approximately 7-10 minutes drive from the town center of Hermanus. The location is picture perfect! Our room was comfortable if a little on the small side - equipped with a fridge, coffee station, air conditioning and the usual amenities. The owner, Jena, was lovely and made us feel very welcome. This was sadly not our experience of the rest of the managerial and kitchen staff. Service at breakfast was dismissive and the “chef” bordered on being rude. Food was adequate although parts of the buffet offering had not been covered and had attracted flies. The standard of housekeeping was not good. I have a pet hate which is finding previous guests’ hair in the room. Unfortunately, there were several long hairs on the bath mats, on the hairdryer itself and on the shower tiles which I found most off-putting. In short, this was fine for a one night stay but it would require a huge improvement in its cleanliness and service standards for us to consider booking here again.

An amazing place to stay. The views are incredible! It’s such a quaint place with incredible views of the sea. We had a relaxing stay.

The hosts were incredibly welcoming and kindly made us dinner reservations in town the evening we arrived. Breakfast was exceptional and they even gave us recommendations for our drive to the next town and where to stop for lunch.

Brilliant place to stay, even with a four year old and a two year old. Initial thoughts on arrival included nervousness about how our children might damage the property in some way as it is so pristine and doesn't immediately feel child friendly. In reality the owners went out of their way to make our kids feel welcome, including Disney crockery. Belinda was really helpful re scenic routes to drive and restaurants to visit. Would recommend staying here to friends definitely.

Cant go wrong at 138 Marine

We loved our stay at 138 Marine. The property is in a great sea-front location, in a quiet area close to Hermanus town. Nice rooms, nicer surroundings. Sea facing living room and deck where you can chill and take the views in. We went for a walk and run on the seafront. Tasty breakfast. Desre was a perfect host. She booked dinners for us in what turned out to be excellent restaurants (we even went back there the following day for lunch!). She also booked a shark cage diving tour for us and packed us lunch. She had lots of tips on what we could do around the area. Take her advise! Overall five stars for me - cant go wrong!

Serene classic and romantic stay

In June it was freezing out there. But this house and everything about it warmed us right up. Beautiful place with everything in the right spots. The decor to the little touches were just beautiful. Port in glass decanters for a night cap to the hot water bottles to find the bed warming up with the cutest softest cover was such a treat. The breakfast was fabulous and the suggestions of what to do was on point. Although we couldn't spot any whales during our stay, I'm sure when that can be done, it would all be magical. Did I say the decor is just so serene and clean.

Brilliant home away from home!

Fabulous service. We felt very welcome and there were several fantastic touches, for example, they knew the town was busy so they made a dinner reservation for us before our arrival, just in case. We had the oyster room, which had fabulous views - even from the bath tub! Breakfast was outstanding too!

Beautiful B&B right on the ocean with magnificent Ocean views. Lovely common living area for all guests to use with fire place and free port or cherry. Also great balcony to sit outside and watch the ocean. Breakfast was delicious and everybody was extremely helpful with organising day trips, dinner and general information. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Excellent hidden gem on the outskirts of Hermanus

Beautiful place with lovely extra touches; sparling wine in the fridge with your name on it, petals in the bathroom sinks, complementary sherry and port in the lounge and a wonderful overall ambience with stunning views of the ocean.

Belinda was very welcoming on arrival and the breakfast next morning was outstanding. The guesthouse itself is beautiful and spotlessly clean.

I am sorry we were only there for one night and will definitely be back. Very highly recommended.

Location and customer service are superb

From arrival to departure we were made to feel as though nothing was too much to ask. This property is gorgeous- the ocean views are priceless. Jena's warm welcome and her daily advice on things to do, places to visit and offers to make restaurant reservations were spot on and we certainly would not have seen as much in the area without her local knowledge. Katy's breakfasts were delicious, incredibly well thought out with regard to balancing flavours and local ingredients - we really looked forward to her daily creations! This is a Guest House where every detail has been thought through from weather reports to complimentary sherry and soft drinks. What a Team!

Magical stay in a magical guesthouse

Hospitality was superb and the guesthouse is absolutely gorgeous! Not only was our room perfect, but so were the restaurant recommendations, hiking, walking and whale watching as well as wine tasting. We would recommend pay a little more and getting the ocean view room like the Oyster Room. The breakfasts were amazing, creative, and delicious so make sure you don't skip any! You made our stay truly magical! Hermanus is a perfect getaway for nature walks, wine tours and whale watching in the Fall.

The views of the ocean are spectacular, and even though it is about a 10 minute drive to the main town of Hermanus, the place is worth the drive. The rooms are well appointed, and the upstairs sitting room provides great views of the ocean if you aren't fortunate to secure an ocean view room. Breakfast was wonderful. We definitely will make a return trip.

This is by far the best B&B/guest house we have ever stayed in. From the amazing welcome, the one of a kind view and first rate rooms..we could not ask for more. And I must say the breakfast was also #1.
We would recommend the 138 Marine Beachfront to everyone.

A lovely friendly guesthouse with wonderful views of a rugged coastline. Ideally located for whale watching. We had a delightful room with 180 degree sea views. Delicious breakfast again all the while taking in the views. Helpful hosts. Just be aware you need a car to get out to restaurants etc as is 3 km from Hremanus and it isn't a walkable route.

A Little Piece of Heaven

Right on the water front in a very quiet part of the suburbs of Hermanus, 138 is a very high class residence and calling it a guest house doesn't do it justice. My wife and I had two nights here and would return in an instant if ever we were re-visiting Hermanus.
The town of Hermanus is just a few minutes drive away where a huge choice of eatieries is available.
Breakfast at 138 is excellent and if you get to the dining area early enough, you'll have the best view out to sea you could imagine while enjoying a terrific start to the day.
Fixtures, fittings - and don't forget the owners / staff - are of the highest standard you could ask for. The place is great.

The best place we stayed during our SA holiday.

Of all the six places my husband and I stayed in during our recent trip to SA this was by far and away our favourite. The house is so light and airy, everything white and modern. Lovely flowers, attention to detail everywhere...............
Beth our hostsess was attentive but not overpowering, preparing maps and suggestions for our ongoing journey and also suggesting and booking a unique dining experience for us at a very quirky local restaurant. Breakfast at the Marine Beachfront was just fabulous, really unique and we had our own table which we much prefer to \"communal\" dining. Make a detour if you can and stay here!
