Eintauchen in vergangene Zeiten

Mit den vielen Gemälden in den Gängen und Zimmern kommt es einem so vor, als würde man in einem Museum wohnen. Der Marmor, die Stofftapeten und alten Möbel wirken sehr authentisch, nur die paar moderneren, technischen Geräte(Fehrnseher, altes Telefon - aber nicht alt genug für den Stil) trüben das Bild etwas.
Der alte Stil ist Geschmackssache, mir hat er jedoch sehr gut gefallen. Für den vielen Stoff und die ganzen Teppiche war es überraschend sauber.
Das Frühstücksbuffet ist relativ klein, aber umfasste trotzdem ein paar luxuriösere Speisen, wie Lachs und Honigwabe und bot auch verschiedenes Obst.
Das Personal an Rezeption und beim Frühstück war durchweg freundlich und hilfsbereit.

The room was beautiful and also very functional. The breakfast was wonderful with lots of local foods and homemade poppyseed cake many mornings to go with the coffee! The staff were all very nice and helpful, making us feel like we were in their home rather than a hotel. This is a special place in Klagenfurt!

Dishonest management and awful smell.

We came late and were moved a couple of times due to unfinished repairs and awful smell. Three of us were walking .from room to room. We end up in a stinky suit and had to sleep with open windows. Every time we moved to a new room, a girl from reception gave us an apology and said that the price is the same. Nothing alarming, it's standard procedure in all hotels around the world. We were tired after all day driving but it was ok. The girl was polite and apologetic. She said she was new.

But it wasn't the worst part of our stay.

After a pleasant breakfast, we were hit with the news that we have to pay almost 5 times the original price.
We tried to explain but we were rudely interrupted by lady who appears to be a manager. She demanded the whole payment and threatened to call the police.
She was very rude and just repeated we have to pay or she calls the police. She said she had no information about the previous night. So we welcomed the idea to call the police.
As soon as the police came price dropped to 1.6 original price. And she demonstrated full knowledge of events of the previous night. So she lied to us through her teeth all the time. We didn't have time to argue and the police advised to pay that reduced price.

If you enjoy being yelled at, scammed of your money, sleeping in a stinky room this is the place for you.

Bad Reception, Beautiful Hotel

Hotel is beautifully appointed and in a great location next to the new square. The staff were initially not so pleasant, and I think one in particular was in need of a little more training when it came to interacting with guests and customer service skills. Upon arrival my fellow travelers were told, insistently and without sympathy that their rooms were cancelled, after they drove 8 hours to get there. They tried hard afterwards to make up for it, but the experience ruined my hotel experience. Additionally, allowing the guests to smoke in the downstairs lobby is unfortunate, because all the smoke goes UP and seeps into the upper floors and guest rooms. I would recommend the hotel rethink their smoking policy.

Very nice hotel. Very clean Ate breakfast in the restaurant , good omelettes. Buffet was pricey. Right close to U-Bahn. Right across the street from Schönbrunn Palace. Amazing must see! The grounds are incredible! Lots of good restaurants, bars & coffee shops within walking distance Brandauers restaurant has great ribs 1 order is more than enough for 2. Hotel Schönbrunn is very beautiful.

Great location and staff...

This is a hard review to write but the idea behind these things is to pass on honest feedback so, here goes...the hotel is in an excellent location - opening up on to the main tourist square with everything located nearby. Lots of places to eat, shop and sightsee. The staff at the hotel are truly first class and really go out of their way to ensure you are catered for and looked after with the only issue we had was not being able to get a drink in the bar one night. The hotel is VERY niche with an over the top rococo/baroque style with many period pieces, some that work and some that don't. The staff are all proud of the venue and can tell you about the paintings but the style just didn't work for me. It comes across as very dated and somewhat unclean. They need to balance some of the styles with something more modern and simple. Of course, this is all an opinion. We arrived at the end of May when the weather was very hot and were informed that the air conditioning isn't switched on till June, which led to a couple of uncomfortable nights. Great beds, curtains worked really well but had to leave windows wide open to get some air into the room. The bathrooms border on unacceptable for a 4-star hotel with the products needing an update ASAP. Breakfast was fairly good with a large offering and I did hear another guest ask for something off-menu, which was happily prepared for them. The staff get bonus points but not sure I could recommend.

We were attending a wedding in Corinthia nearby and wanted to see Klagenfurt as well. This quirky hotel could not have been a better choice as it is directly opposite The Lindworm in Neuesplatz. The staff are really helpful particularly Karen. The breakfasts are good quality and tasty. The honeycomb is wonderful.
As it is an old building there is no air-conditioning. Some of the artefacts in reception or the corridors are fascinating others can be a little kitsch.

Great location, lovely staff

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Palais Porcia (business double room) in Klagenfurt for 2 nights last week of June 2017.

Right away I must commend the staff. Check in was smooth, service was efficient.
NB: reception is on the 3rd floor so don't waste time on the ground floor as there aren't any staff there. Take lift to 3rd. If your room is on the 4th floor, you have to take the stairs. Reception staff will help if needed.

The decor is quite antique. Apparently the building has quite the history and it shows in room interiors. Separate WC & bath. Strong WiFi signal. Clean, nice bedding, ample space to stretch your legs after a long day! AirCon worked well.

Breakfast was delicious. They ask when you sit down if you want any hot drinks, so make sure you speak to the staff. Again, lovely staff and the service was always prompt. Very classy decor and the place is quite quiet. Loved it.

Our one gripe was that there was no kettle in the room. It is quite frustrating to not be able to make a cup of tea in hotels whenever I feel like.

Location: the best thing about this hotel. Fantastically located for everything - high street, sightseeing, bus connections, food, etc. From Heiligengeistplatz bus stop (Spar supermarket next to it) you can go practically everywhere including the train station.
Bus 10 takes you to Strandbad stop for Woerthersee. €2.20 ticket. Take the ferry/cruise; best €15 I spent this summer! Food/drinks on board too.

Amazing staff and great hotel

Fantastic place. Very grand, old fashioned décor but new so lovely to stay in with comfortable beds. The staff are amazing!! They could not be more helpful, friendly and smiling all the time. Great location too for the town and walk to the lake along the canal. I did Ironman Austria here and stayed in 2015 too when the hotel and staff were just as good.

Unhappy time.

Their credit card machine was 'not working'...
And insisted I paid cash.
It was not the room I booked .
The air conditioning did not cool the room . We were told 'no other rooms available', yet the hotel.com app said there was.
We ended up not staying the night.

Convenient but old and musty hotel

The hotel has a great location and offers a nice breakfast. It must have been nice in its day. Now, however, it's old and run down, and has a musty smell. Both my husband and I had allergy problems after spending 2 nights there.

A traditional hotel which is clean , if a little threadbare ideally situated on the edge of the town's main square. The rooms are spacious and rather ornate. The hotel is above a row of shops and is accessed from ground level by a lift. The staff were happy to unlock the stairwell as an alternative for guests with a lift phobia! The staff are English speaking, pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately Klagenfurt has not as yet fully adopted the no smoking rule so the room had a smell of stale cigarettes. We were, however, assured by reception that non-smoking rooms are available.

Alles in allem ist das Hotel sauber, kuschelig und das Personal ein Traum.

Unsere Zimmer waren für unseren Geschmack ein wenig zu zusammen-gewürftelt. Außerdem war uns der Geruch nach chemischen/künstlichen Reinigungsmitteln zu stark, hat sich aber bald wieder gelegt.

Sämtliche Gänge, Lobby, Rezeption und Co. sind sehr detailreich und mit Liebe eingerichtet.

Einziges größeres Manko sind die Amaturen in unserem Bad. Insbesondere der Handtuchhalter und die Duschamaturen fallen einem fast schon ein wenig entgegen.

Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und stets ausgesprochen freundlich.

Empire vom feinsten. Vollkommen Barock Überladung mit einer ganz eigenen Note. Ein ungewöhnliches Ambiente, zwischen Rokoko und Biedermeier mit ganz vielen Details. Dass dieses Hotel nicht von Japanern (wahrscheinlich zu wenige Zimmer) überlaufen ist, verwundert. Wer also mal eine Reise ins frühe 19. Jahrhundert machen möchte, ist hier vom Ambiente richtig.
Das Hotel selbst ist aber als solches vollkommen in Ordnung und entspricht der Kategorie. Steckdosen in den Zimmern sind Mangelware was es für Business-Reisende wohl weniger empfehlenswert macht. Lage ist ausgezeichnet, die Zimmer sind nicht groß, aber praktisch (und auch im typischen überladenen Barock-Stil mit Kristallleuchter und Vintage-Tapete. Alles in Allem muss einem das gefallen.

Ein Hotel wie aus früheren Zeiten, möbliert wie im \"Schloss\". Wir fühlten uns sehr wohl: Personal äusserst freundlich, hilfsbereit. Frühstück ausgezeichnet. Lage perfekt: Mitten in der Stadt, Tiefgarage gleich nebenan. An diesen Ort kommt man gerne zurück.
