This is a cool, independently-owned property with character. I stayed for one night on the way to Big Bend, and it was perfect for that. The room is basic and includes a mini-fridge. The breakfast was simple (oatmeal, yogurt cups, and bananas with coffee). The real treat though is a conversation with the owners (Ravi and his wife). They chatted with me over breakfast and really made the stay memorable.

Outstanding location and curb appeal. Interiors need to have some work as the rooms are stale, lack amenities, and lack basic room features. Feature needed, in-room coffee machine, ironing board, improved soap and towel quality. Different floors, laminate vs. old carpet, improved bath towels, soap, and bed linens quality should be sufficient to improve the quality of the stay and upgrade the experience.

I had a multi-night stay in Del Rio, and I decided to try the Whispering Palms because it had good reviews. It met my needs. The only negative was that the air conditioner was pretty good, but not great. I like it really cold when I sleep, and it didn't quite get there. But I realize I like it colder than most people, and it was comfortable enough, so this was at least as much about my personal preferences as the condition of the A/C.
The staff was very friendly, and the owners were, too! Bob and Joty made sure I was having a good stay, and they've got a great dog who loves to get her ears scratched. There's also a bird named Larry in the lobby who is entertaining.
You can buy water or soft drinks in the lobby, and the proceeds go to an orphanage in Acuna, Mexico, that the owners support. I loved that.
I plan to book this hotel again when I am back in Del Rio. Thanks for a great stay!

The outdoor pool was moldy and dirty. Since the temperature was about 90 F, we expected the pool to be ready for use. The breakfast was somewhat disappointing since it was just waffles and boiled eggs. However, we would still recommend Whispering Palms but the owners could improve the two issues described above.

The room was good for the price I paid. The remote control wasn't working properly but I didn't feel like walking over to the office to report it (I did let the front desk know when I checked out). I was given a room right at the base of the stairs and next to the pool, which would have been a problem if the hotel had been busier.

I recently stayed at Whispering Palms and wanted to share my experience. The staff at the hotel was always friendly and courteous, which made my stay pleasant. However, I did encounter some maintenance issues in the room I was assigned.
Firstly, the bathroom lacked a toilet lid , which was quite inconvenient. Additionally, the shower water temperature was difficult to control as it only came out very hot and didn't have a cold water option. This made showering uncomfortable at times.
Moreover, I noticed that the bathroom door had a hole in it, which was quite surprising and gave an overall impression of poor maintenance. In addition, there was a non-functional lightbulb in the room lamps, which affected the overall lighting.
Lastly, I encountered a few bugs, including mosquitoes, in the room. This was an unpleasant surprise and made it difficult to have a comfortable and peaceful stay.
While the staff's friendliness was appreciated, I feel that the maintenance issues I encountered should be addressed to enhance the overall guest experience. I hope that the hotel management takes note of these concerns and takes steps to improve the maintenance standards in the future.
Despite the mentioned issues, I would like to commend the hotel staff once again for their exceptional service. I hope that my feedback helps in improving the overall guest experience at whispering palms.

The air conditioning in Room 110 did not cool, it was only in the 70s but the room stayed hot all night. The Mattress was horrible like sleeping on the floor. I feel there are better options in Del Rio.
