Poor value. Most expensive hotel (of many) we stayed in during our visit to the UK and finished at or near the bottom of the list in almost every regard. The hotel's staff was excellent in our interactions with them, however. Would not be very recommendable to anyone with mobility issues. Lots of stairs and no lift (elevator) so heavy luggage must be carried up stairs. Staff does offer to help with that, however. The carpet was old and dirty and hair was left in the bathroom making things feel somewhat unclean. The bathroom was very small and the room was small. I ordered and ate a pizza there which was not very good and another very poor value. The old building is interesting but could definitely use some updating. The location is great. Nothing lived up to the expense of the hotel and the price of rooms must be determined solely by location and lack of competition. I was happy I shortened my stay to one night instead of two. Its good location made it easy to get around town and to Inverary Castle. We stayed at an inn in a nearby town for 1/3 the price that excelled in all that this hotel failed at.

The Inn is very close to the town and the castle. Being very old there is no lift and a bit of a ‘rabbit warren’ to get to room. Our room was quite small, although my son had a very large room, but it was another very unsuitable set of stairs above ours. A very pretty town and loved the castle.

We enjoyed our stay. Great location. Our only problem was that we were next to noisy children. They were yelling , screaming, slamming doors and running up and down halls during the day and until 12 midnight. I couldn’t sleep. Called front desk, but no reply.

I paid £ 200 for one night double room without breakfast and was given a very small room with no view. My wife is disabled and as there is no lift we had to climb a steep staircase and then walk to the furthest part of the hotel only to find a tiny room.
To be fair the accomodation was clean and the shower was excellent but the building is dated.

The views of this property and from this property were amazing! It’s right down the street from the Inveraray castle and super convenient if you visit.
The town is very walkable and there’s lots to do!

We made reservations when we checked into the hotel, we learned from our travels this is a must do, no matter what day of the week you stay. Or at least book a restaurant near by in advance. We found that you had to make reservations for dinner in advance otherwise you’ll end up eating take away or something very quick.

The hotel is cute and has some history to it, the room has a nice modern bathroom with nice views and welcoming snacks. The bed was a little lumpy but still comfy, overall it didn’t job.

They do have slightly thin walls so keep that in mind if you’re a light sleeper.

Only issues we had was WiFi did not work and phone only had 3G so could not use internet or watch Netflix
Also bathroom drains seemed to be blocked as shower drain was backing up and also bathroom had a drain smell

Beautiful hotel, in a beautiful Scottish town - would definitely stay again. I would caution anyone with any difficulty with stairs - there's no elevator in the building and no rooms on the ground floor - but other than that, the hotel is a beautiful old building, well kept up, modernized, great staff, and a truly beautiful location.

Beautiful location but mediocre at best

Surrounded by beautiful nature, but old eatablishment which could use an upgrade. Blinds in the toilet did not work properly and the drain in the shower was clocked.
Breakfast was mediocre especially the full Scottish breakfast; one fried egg, 1 sausage, small cup of beans, 1/2 slice of haggis and 2 pieces of bacon. Pretty disappointing

Overnight stop off. Breakfast was superb and apart from a rather cold greeting at reception, the service was friendly and helpful. The location was fabulous.
But the rooms were tired, ridiculously hot and a bit cramped.

The hotel needs a complete refurb. We paid extra for a “Loch View” room, which would have been lovely if the window was bigger and the fun fair that arrives for 6 weeks every summer wasn’t in the way. Had they mentioned it, we wouldn’t have wasted our money. We were booked in for 3 nights and checked out after one. Dreadful!

Considering the good size room, it only had a double bed. Should at least be a King. Parking is not great, but there is a lot of paid on street from 9-6 Dailt at £1 an hour

Bed mattresses in need of a change

The Inveraray Inn has a fantastic location, but as a building it is in need of some renovation. Our family bedroom with three single beds was on the second floor and there's no lift. The bed mattresses were very uncomfortable because too soft and old, I wonder when they were last changed.
The food, both at breakfast and dinner, was however good and good value for money. At breakfast I had (among other things) a fresh fruit salad, which was genuinely fresh, something I rarely see in hotels being made without using canned fruits! Cleanliness is good and the staff are nice.

The Hotel is in a perfect location in the quaint wee town. Room was comfy. It is beside the Loch and we enjoyed the beer garden. We had a lovely lunch in the rear pub when we arrived. Unfortunately, we couldn't go in the pub in the evening as it is small and was full with the locals.

I’ve been to Inveraray many times but this is the first time I’ve stayed at The Inveraray Inn (formerly The Argyll Hotel). I was definitely not disappointed and would recommend to anyone. Very friendly and helpful staff, food was fantastic and the room was faultless. It was also my partners first visit to Inveraray. We will definitely be returning.

Given a side room overlooking electrical boxes and car park. Only room overlooking loch had bunk beds which we took. The ladder up creaked loudly and was very narrow. Reading light in completely the wrong place. No tissues no paper. Staff friendly.No help with luggage upstairs .

The hotel is in a stunning location.
Our bedroom was in a new corridor and was rather small and cramped for a room costing 120 per night.
The wall between our room and the adjacent room was very thin. Fortunately, our neighbours were not noisy. This was a matter of luck.

Well situated on our way to the Isle of Skye and convenient to Inveraray Castle. Bar and restaurant on site were ok but not exceptional. Make sure to make dinner reservations if you choose to eat there.

Our room faced the back of the hotel and the staff getting off shift were noisy as they left.

Close to Loch and right in village of Inveraray.

Please be aware: this hotel has no elevator (lift). Winding stairs are wide, but a little difficult to carry large suitcases up / down. Room very basic and small, but clean. Good shower. No A/C, it was very warm while we were there in July, but a small fan was offered and it helped a lot. Good location right in center of town, next to the castle. Restaurant was pretty good, not outstanding, but others close by gave more choices. Lunch on the glassed-in front porch (conservatory) was nice. Breakfast adequate, but not nearly as many choices as most of the other hotels where we stayed.
