Pros: Views, decent pool area, peaceful surroundings. Cons: Super hard mattress (woke up with back aches), cheap, rough bedding and worn towels that badly need replacing. Felt like a motel quality stay honestly—my friend and I felt like we were glamping. Food and water amenities were overpriced as we found better, cheaper options offsite. Had to request maintenance for slow draining sink and low water pressure. Bed creaked.

Clean rooms, beautiful and well kept property. Bistro food was decent, La Pampa restaurant was great. Staff was very friendly but not always around. Super peaceful setting with gorgeous views. Lighting in the room was harsh, low, and weird but didn’t visit to hang out in the room. Would definitely return and would recommend.

This hotel is Overpriced, overrated and EXPENSIVE!!! The food is ok but ridiculous expensive! Rafael was our waiter at the La Pampas restaurant was very misleading and tried to trick us in to buying food the we did not order. For the amount of money what we spent on this hotel I could easily have stayed at Ritz Carlton on Central Park NY. I will never go back there again!

We had 2 rooms up the hill with a lap pool infront. View was gorgeous. Lots of bird viewings. Room comfortable but needs a chair or 2. Outside walkway between room and lap pool about 3 feet. Staff amazing. Breakfast and dinner good at hotel. Did not visit lake side. Wood around lap pool is rotting. Need a car or driver. Takes a while for water to get hot in shower.

A Spectacular View Undermined by Poor Management

Hotel Cardedeu benefits from an exceptional location on Lake Coatepeque and offers stunning views. Unfortunately, this is where the positives end. The overall experience falls short of what one would expect from a hotel positioning itself as high-end.

The property is not adapted for elderly guests or those with limited mobility. There is a clear lack of ramps, proper signage, and non-slip surfaces, which raises safety concerns and reflects a lack of inclusivity.

The rooms present basic comfort issues. There is no dedicated space to place luggage, and the hot water does not function properly, an unacceptable issue at this price point. Additionally, many rooms are located next to the event hall, making it extremely difficult to rest when weddings or events take place. Noise from events and other guests is poorly controlled, undermining the sense of relaxation the hotel claims to offer.

The restaurant operation is equally disappointing. On two separate occasions, several menu items were unavailable. Being told that tea had “run out due to high season” highlights poor inventory and purchasing planning, which should never happen in a well-managed hotel.

Taken together—accessibility gaps, room deficiencies, noise issues, and weak restaurant operations—these shortcomings create a clear disconnect between price and quality.

In short, a beautiful view cannot compensate for poor management.

Room has beautiful lake view, but is cheaply made and has little to no sound insulation. Upon check-in, we were required to sign a long list of potential charges for damage that included things I have never heard of or seen at a hotel before such as a fee for defecating in an improper place? This was off-putting to me and even more so, when we walked in our room to find that it was far from perfection with dings, scratches and damage all around the walls, woodwork and baseboards. If a hotel is going to threaten with damage charges when you hand them your credit card, at least it should be without existing damage when you take possession. Another issue is the lack of light in the bathroom which required me to stand by the sliding glass door holding a mirror to put on my makeup. I would not stay here again or recommend Cardedeu Hotel.

The view was amazing! Lake and windows truly gorgeous. Cool shower, TV with Netflix, interesting capsule rooms. I’d say the private pool is tiny and not really worth it. The property was so fun to walk around, as it had restaurants, mini golf, playground, fruit trees, trampoline, other pools, etc.

The bars/ bistro have limited selection of liquor. There is no liquor or grocery store nearby. May I also suggest a mini store at reception for gatorades and sodas to chips and cookies as there are no small stores nearby to purchase these items. Both receptions have plenty of space for a mini mart.

Overall good stay, however there is room for improvement. Upon arrival we were greeted well by hosts, the locations itself has great views.

The room itself could use better lighting, perhaps a mini fridge as well to accommodate stay. The grounds were well kept and overall the place is clean.

Wish there was more to do here, past 10 pm there are no food options so plan accordingly. Jet ski rental is very high compared to other locations.

Nice hotel with a beautiful view. I had king lake view room, with access to a pool front that is used only by the next 3 rooms, but we got lucky and we saw no one while we were there. Service was nice. Only stayed 1 night, so didn’t have time to look at the whole property. The parking is uphill, but spacious. The room provided a tv, shampoo, conditioner, bar body soap, bar face soap, shower gel, and lotion. A/c worked great! It was clean. Will definitely recommend and visit again.

Con: The bathroom could use more lighting. The shower maybe a door, so water doesn’t splash out. Shower could use a water extension so we could wash it down after use. The walk up pool could use some lighting to be able to use at night. (We did use it at night just had our blinds open and used our room lighting.) maybe a bigger sign at entry to the property, could grab more attention and easier to see at night.

I liked that the rooms were very neat and spacious. The staff is very nice and on top of your needs. The pool was very nice. I would have given the place a 5 star rating but I did have to ask for both rooms that I reserved the tub was not filling up so it made it harder for me to bathe my baby also in one of the rooms the tv was not working properly they had to change something. Again they did change these things fast but for the p[rice we are paying I feel like these things shouldn't be an issue.... Also it was inconvenient to walk with a stroller around

We loved our stay . It’s right on the lak. the room was spacious! We ran into an issue with noise from the AC but they were very helpful and corrected it . I highly recommend it ! My only small issue was that the staff plays loud music through the speakers. I wished there was no music as it does not make it for a relaxing environment by the lake.

Some areas were dirty, mainly dinning area, swimming pool. Toilet and shower with poor draining system. Lighting in room horrible too bright and no option for night light. The AC kept the room feeling humid all the time, Furniture needs to be updated, there was an electric or battery ran scent dispenser that was very noisy. Menu was ok not impressed by it. The staff seemed very unhappy or at least not welcoming, they did accommodate me with a different room for a price. Never booking anything through Expedia again.

Overall it was OK not great. Location was excellent with a beautiful view. The hotel is new but not most comfortable. Beds were too hard, shower water has low pressure and slow drainage. We had 2 rooms, one had coffee maker the other did not. Parking lot was very small and tight to park cars.

Room adequate but lacks grab rail and bath mat in bathroom. Risky to shower. Many stone stairs that are uneven to get from room to pool area. We were not told the nice restaurant closes at 7 pm on weekdays so settled for a burger at poolside mini-restaurant. Did not want to eat there because hotels raw sewage smell is so strong there - don’t know why. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and really good at their jobs. If only the owner would address a few things.
