I expected more. I'm sure if you are a golfer, this is a great vacation but we were looking for pool and lake fun. We did enjoy ourselves but the pools are basic hotel pools, nothing fancy. Everything was expensive which made me not be able to relax as I intended. I figured there would be some free activities but we even had to pay to play on the old pickle ball courts no one was using. There was construction going on so we couldn't even hear the score as we yelled across the net. While the staff was nice, we had a few instances of frustration like food delivered to us without silverware, napkins, ketchup and by the time we tracked someone down for these items, the food was cold. Just not what I expect from a luxury resort.

The Horseshoe Bay resort is absolutely beautiful! The grounds are pristine and the pools are all very lovely. The room was very clean and we loved the views of the lake. All of the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate at J's restaurant a few times and it was wonderful and we also enjoyed the Waterfront grill.

When is the last time you and your partner slept in a double bed?
Horseshoe Bay allows you to bring your pet. Our reservation was for a king bed with lake view. But they put us in a ‘villa’ with no view and double bed! So uncomfortable .we were not told that pets were not allowed in the main building when we registered. It was difficult to sleep.

There was a mistake when we checked in and we were given the wrong room. The next morning, the hotel staff moved us out of the room, while we were gone. To make up for the error, we were given a credit and a suite for the remainder of our stay.

Overall, we had a good experience at Horseshoe Bay Resort, largely thanks to the exceptional and friendly staff who were consistently helpful throughout our stay. The property itself is nice, with three pools to choose from—two of which stay open late, which was a big plus. The floating pool was a standout feature, though it did close earlier in the evening than we expected. We also really enjoyed the whitewater putting course, which was a highlight, but worth noting that it’s not included in the resort fee. The spa massages were relaxing and well done, but there is a mandatory 22% gratuity, so just be aware of that when booking.

That said, there were a few drawbacks. The additional resort fee of nearly $50 per night was a bit of a surprise and adds up quickly. We stayed in the Palm Villas, and while the rooms were fine, they felt a little outdated—plus no blackout curtains and not the most comfortable pillows. The resort overall felt more geared toward families with kids or older guests, and we found the activities somewhat limited as a couple traveling without kids. We didn’t golf, which seems to be a big part of what makes this resort worth it, so I probably wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you plan to take advantage of that.

Room, staff, cleanliness all excellent. Food served at the Waterfront Restaurant huge disappointment. Draft Hazy IPA took forever to be delivered and came only after the salads were already served. They must have squeezed the last drops out of the keg, a thick, ugly, slushy soup. French fries were mushy and looked re-recycled. Pulled chicken was dry and stale tasting. Any fast food restaurant would have done better!

The amenities were great. The staff by far is what stands out here. You are greeted immediately with a kind smile, check in is easy, the staff at the restaurants are very attentive with great hospitality. Food was also very good. We enjoyed our stay at Horseshoe Bay. We went for a birthday and found lots of fun things to do at the resort and in the area. However, we did find it difficult with the restaurants and was hoping for a little more mainstream menus. We ended up eating away from the resort for most meals. I was also hoping there would be a microwave in the room, especially given that they have all of the restaurants and people tend to have leftovers. Finally, I feel like the mini golf should be included in the stay or at least highly discounted. They wanted to charge us $25 a person to play. We did enjoy the heated pools and all of the water features and all kinds of different little paths we found to walk. The resort is beautiful! I would stay here again, but would be better prepared food wise.

We booked Horseshoe Bay for a guys’ golf trip, and it was everything we hoped for. From the start, the staff made check-in smooth and even had our tee times organized, which set the tone for a stress-free weekend.

The rooms were spacious, clean, and perfect for groups — plenty of space to hang out after a long day on the course. The beds were comfortable, and the resort kept everything stocked and tidy throughout our stay.

The golf courses themselves were the real star. Beautifully maintained fairways, challenging layouts, and stunning views made every round a blast. The pace of play was great, and we never felt rushed. Between rounds, the clubhouse was the perfect hangout — great food, cold drinks, and a lively but relaxed atmosphere.

Off the course, the resort had everything we needed: a pool to cool off, a bar with plenty of TVs for catching the games, and restaurants with hearty meals that hit the spot after 18 holes. The staff was always friendly and quick with recommendations for nightlife and local spots, which made evenings just as fun as the days.

Overall, Horseshoe Bay nailed it for our boys’ trip. Great golf, great vibes, and everything we needed in one place. Already planning to make this an annual tradition.

This was a great resort but the wifi was not that great. The putt putt was dark and hard to see the balls did not glow which made it hard.

We took a family trip staying in Texas. The resort is expensive and basically everything cost. Nothing really included except the pools. So, plan to spend money for putt putt golf and expensive meals. There was only 2 restaurants open in July so very little choices on the resort for food. Our 2 queen bed room was very small (comparing to a Marriott Hotel room) so we were a litte cramp with our chidren in room. We wanted to do water aerobics and zumba (advertised) and no one could locate for us and later told us they were cancelled for the day? Late night disco was over by 9PM. Not sure if we would visit again.

Great facilities and plenty of things to do for kids and adults alike. Pool options were fantastic as was the live music. Rooms were clean and well equipped. They were also serviced regularly. Fitness center was also functional and usable.

It tries catering to a wide variety of audience and that’s where it falls down a couple of notches. Food wise we felt it was too much of the same style- barbecue and burgers. Would have been nice to see different cuisines and vegetarian/ vegan options. We got pretty bad weather so lots of outdoor options got ruled out.

I’m look forward to trying out this place hopefully with better weather next time around and play some golf and tennis.

Great Weekend Full of Activities for Family

Our family of 5 visited in June for a 2 night weekend. Kids ages 13, 11 and 8- all had a blast! We rented a 2 BR condo and it was updated, clean and spacious with great view of the lake! We played putt putt, did the floating obstacle course, rented a Cabana at the floating pool, rented a ski boat, played tennis and dined at 3 diff restaurants. It was a blast! None of these amenities were included, but was worth the cost (and hell, always cheaper Than owning a boat!) We cant wait to come back with our extended family in the fall!

The property and location are picturesque. But something is off about this place. They slated a weekend of activities on their website (and why we booked the stay the 2 days prior), only find out there was a wedding booked way in advance so none of these things were going to happen. Why did they continue to advertise it even the day prior? It's listed as a 4 star hotel, but the service is hit or miss. The elevators do not reliably work. The kids club seems adorable but needs some cleaning. The property must be focused on their realty service, weddings, private jet clients as it doesn't really seem to want just casual hotel guests there.

This property should have off-season rates for cold winter days/nights when it’s too uncomfortable to be outside. There is nothing to do inside without paying even more. The coffee throughout our weekend was weak and not hot….at $8 a cup! Other than that, we enjoyed time catching up with old friends.

The property itself was great—we stayed in Building 6, which did not have a sign that said 6. When we arrived, it was dark and difficult to see where we were supposed to be, but the staff did help out. Great breakfast.
