I arrived at 2pm to try for an early checkin & was told no rooms were available until 3p (understandable). Original room I was placed in the dead bolt didn’t work so I was moved. Staff member tried to come in my room at 2:45AM. Lobby area/staff smelled like weed. Other guests were complaining to the desk about issues in their room each time I passed through the lobby. Overall it felt unprofessional & was an uneasy trip especially traveling alone as a woman & someone trying to enter my room.

There was No hot tub....fridge didnt work, 1/2 roll of TP....no shampoo or body wash in bathroom, half outlets didnt work.....when asked for compesation...i was told i had to do it thru you guys even thoughthey could stull charge my card for a soda....and it literally was one of my worst stays in years......recommend 0 stars......can i please get some of my money back for this stay.....i was 2 days with out these things

While budget friendly, the rooms are not clean and in fact gross. The towels were stained, toilets hadn't been cleaned, walls and tile very dirty and ceiling vent looks to have never been cleaned.

We had no cleaning service for an extended stay to remove trash, freshen towels or restock toiletries. There was only one trashcan in the room which was full for an extended stay and no room cleaning.

Our keys didn't work after the first few days which means whoever checked us in didn't put the correct number of days of our stay. We had to get them reprogrammed twice.

The staff we encountered was friendly but failed to control an extremely loud group playing music and yelling in the lobby late at night. After calling the front desk twice from our personal phones because the room phone didn't work, the noise finally ended but after the 11 pm quiet hours and having to request enforcement.

We will not stay at this hotel again and I do not recommend you do either.

The hotel has a very convenient location right off the highway, which makes it a good option for travelers passing through. The property itself was generally clean and well maintained.
However, we were disappointed with the condition of the bedding. The sheets had noticeable yellow stains, and the fitted sheet even had black stains. This was the first time in all of our travels that we encountered bedding in such condition.
Breakfast was another surprising experience. For the first time ever in a hotel, we were told, “Unfortunately, we have run out of spoons.” This was quite unexpected and disappointing.
Overall, while the location is convenient and the hotel appears clean at first glance, attention to basic details like bedding quality and breakfast service would greatly improve the guest experience.

I booked a room at Sonesta Essential Morgantown 3 days before arrival to visit my college student. Upon checking in, I was told they overbooked. I could be placed in another Sonesta Hotel 25 miles south or receive a refund. I was very upset!!! Why did I not receive a call or email??? Morgantown hosts alot of college events. I finally found a room after spending a half hour calling around. Luckily only 5 miles from Morgantown. However I had to pay double the price of Sonesta. I still have not received my refund or call from management.

We never got our trash taken out, never switched out our towels and the beds are horrible. We went and bought a mattress topper just to try to get some sleep. We asked on 2 different days for someone to get the trash and clean towels and we ended up having to go get them ourselves from the front desk. Definitely will not stay here again.

The staff (Carla, Austin) and all others, provided excellent service and support during our stay. The room was clean and well-heated, which felt great when it was -3 degrees outside! The breakfast was adequate, given the circumstances.

All of these observations are underscored by the very reasonable room rate.

Budget hotel but actually pretty nice. Rooms were very clean as was the lobby, and the front desk workers both days were friendly and efficient. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast is basic hotel breakfast and did offer some hot options, not just cold breads and cereals. Quiet location but within a couple miles of downtown Morgantown. Parking is ample.

The room they gave us had black hair all over the sheets when we turned the covers down. The room was freezing cold and would not heat up. They gave us another. Clean sheets this time but room remained cold the entire night. It was 25 degrees outside and we would have been just as warm if we pitched a tent and slept outside. I am not exaggerating.

Pros: Easy check-in, nice exterior appearance.
Cons: Numerous maintenance and safety issues. The bathroom had broken floor tiles and a loose shower rod that caused water to spill. Critically, there was no smoke detector in the room, just hanging wires. The refrigerator was so loud it had to be unplugged to sleep, the TV had no channels, and the bathtub dripped continuously. To top it off, a loud argument outside my room went on from 3 to 4:30 am, and the front desk was unreachable. I would not recommend staying here due to the poor conditions and lack of staff response.

The front door to the building is hanging open, so it does not feel very secure or safe. When I walked by the lobby at midnight and again early in the morning, there was nobody there to view visitors.

The whole hotel had an odd smell, kinda musty and there was a full trash can on our floor that was not taken out the 2 days we stayed there. Lobby had a weird smell kind of butter scotch maybe for Fall but it was overwhelming upon entry to the hotel. Room had muddy carpet, damp bath towels and empty shower gel. Our room and bathroom were shabby and not clean. There was trash from a previous guest on the floor near each bed. We stayed for 2 nights and there was no housekeeping service after the first night. We had to request clean towels. There was no extra toilet paper in the bathroom and we had to request that as well after we ran out. The shower stopped working while I was taking a shower. A loud noise came from the pipe and the water shut off. There is a reason this hotel was about half the price of others in the area.

Upon arrival we walked into a very small room there was a hole punched in the ceiling, the bathroom counter was sloped so things rolled off the counter, the toilet seat would not stay up, a gap between the casing on the bathroom door 3/4 of an inch, the blow dryer was supposed to be attached to the wall when I took it off the whole thing fell down no screws, the free breakfast was a joke, the house keeping never cleaned our room, had to ask for towels every day, the tv didn’t work well battery’s weak, staff was not friendly, pillows were the size of throw pillows had to buy two new ones to sleep on, we had shut our door when we left came back at night our door and the one next to ours was both open we had nothing missing in our room.
All in all a terrible stay especially for what we paid.

My wife and I have stayed here at least twice before.
This was NOT a good stay...1.the tv would not turn on.
I reported it but there was no action. 2/the toilet water ran consistently. I reported it and no action was taken. 3/ I turned on the heater for a few minutes to heat the room and a electrical smell came out of the vents and set off the smoke alarm. 4/ the reservation desk could not give me a receipt because the printer was not working.
I hope this will not be the case at Sonesta, if we return

This property need some updates The elevators feel like it's going to stop on you it takes forever to open and the air unit in the room comes on and cuts off, the parkinlot is tight the staff is semi friendly. But please know when you stay their you will be paying 2 payments at the price of the hotels as a hold depoist. The will not tell you at all, when i complain they hung up on me and will not address any issues you may have , they are very very unprofessional the staff.

It's fine. It's a significantly cheaper rate then the typical hotel I stay at but there are downgrades associate with it. There's usually a maintenance task needed in the room whether the drains are slow and need to be snaked or the toilet seat won't stay up.

That being sad, staff is friendly and I've stayed here multiple times.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and I appreciate that very much. The facilities were another story. First impressions are important--the front door to the lobby was partially our of order Our room did not have a smoke detector--just the socket where it should be. The tops of the edging titles in the bathroom were dirty, with small debris along the edges and corner or the bathroom. There was no bar soap in the bathroom, and only one plastic cup with the ice bowl. I had a do-not-disturb sign on the door until we left the first morning around 9:10 but took it off when we departed for the day. When we arrived in the evening, our room had been untouched. Also, no Bible in the room, and the front-desk attendant said they are not placed in the rooms. Motel rooms are not complete without Bibles.I did like the carpet in the stairwells, and we used the stairwells frequently. Overall the quietness was good, and the air conditioning worked great. The beds were quite comfortable.Thanks for allowing me to point out some items that need serious attention.
