the Flamingo club room was very nice spacious and comfortable though no mini bar. Overall I love this place and always go back despite any negative experiences
Check in was terrible. that reception no idea what is an online booking so i had to give her my phone with booking confirmation not she even understood that. I specifically requested to check in early as I has an event starting at 1pm at the hotel and i need to shower and dress for event. the receptionist instead of checking of a room is available first gave me a lecture how early check ins aren't allowed, but will check with her supervisor, which is what she ought to have done in the first place instead of making up her own responses.

Maputo experience

The room was clean and l must commend the bathroom is clean. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

My only problem is the food l think they need to review their menu. Room service the food was not good.

Walking distance to downtown (20-30 minutes). The grounds are nice because they have a nice view to the ocean and a nice lawn. All the rooms face the ocean. The food is not good. Breakfast was very limited in its selection. Good place for a social, but not to stay. Rooms, gym, and general areas need updating.

Breathtaking view and good location

Cardoso's location is breathtaking. Perched up on a hill overlooking the Indian Ocean with a nice garden and good swimming pool, it offers a breathtaking view, inclusive of the sunset. Staff are pleasant and friendly. I enjoyed using the pool, and restaurant which also shared the great view. I could not use the gym which offered the same grand panoramic view from level 5.
Even though it was past 2pm when I arrived, it took a while to be given my room. While I had paid a premium for a sea view room, I was initially given a room which did not offer any view. On rejecting it, I was given a room with a proper sea view only after 3pm. When I got in to the room, the TV was not working and a technician had to be called to fix it. Subsequently two days later, the TV stopped working completely and I had to move to another room as it could not be fixed. Only to find out the air condition was not working in the newly allocated room. While taking up a lot of precious time changing rooms and waiting for technicians, it also indicated the hotel was dated and tired looking. Also, there was no fridge in the room. Apart from these inconveniences the hotel has easy access to the museum and is walking distance from the popular Dhow and other restaurants. I still expect to stay here on my next visit to Maputo.

I was very pleased with my stay at Hotel Cardoso. The hotel is in a fantastic area, with many great restaurants within a short walk. The view from the hotel is also excellent. Service was good. My only complaint is that the wifi in the rooms was frequently quite weak.

My room was spotless and huge - loved the rainfall shower. Breakfast had a nice variety of hot and cold options and juices. Service at the cafe and bar was very polite but quite slow at times. Overall would recommend the Cardoso Hotel and would stay here again. It was good value for money. Special thanks to Isaac who was very helpful!

Friendly staff but few speak English. Checking in great but the checking out experience was terrible, it took over 30 minutes due to the language barrier which then delayed the departure to the airport.

Wonderful stay

Very good stay. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. The environment and view of the hotel are very nice. I would advise that the hotel should also reburbish and put modern facilities in the right wing of the hotel- the city view. Its a very hotel with professional staff. I do recommend it to any visitor to Maputo.

Lovely view over Downtown and Maputo Bay

Cardoso Hotel is a lovely older hotel on a hill overlooking the town and the bay. The hotel is very nice, staff is friendly and food is OK. I was expecting a bit more quality and skill especially on the seafood side, the salt usage was over the top. Also, each room is equipped with South African power outlets, so bring your adaptors, getting one from Hotel or even the mall proved very difficult.

Great hotel but very expensive

I have been staying at the Cardoso for many years and love the environment, most of the staff, the patio and the view. I think it has got way too expensive, however. The price per room for just me was double the price for two of us at a good hotel in Chelsea, London (though to be fair this was a special winter last minute offer).

Run away!

I make the point of try new hotels in Maputo disregarding the feedback from travelers. Highly disappointing hotel. Bad food at the bar. Poor quality with frozen French fries (first time ever in Mozambique). Hotel looks tired. Rooms are dated. Bathroom is poor. Hotel corridors are poor and old and tired looking. The Internet service in the rooms is very bad and slow. I will not stay at this hotel again. The swimming pool area and garden are nice. So it is a nice place to go for a drink or meet a client. The employees tried hard but the hotel let them down. The hotel needs to full make over.

No value for money

Not a very pleasant stay as the room we were booked into had a leaking aircon which the hotel staff seem to have been aware of but still gave the room to us. When we got back from our sightseeing we found a room that was flooded with water. Instead of moving us to another room immediately were asked to wait while their maintenance team tried to figure if it was actually a problem. When we insisted we be moved we were moved to a room that was not sea facing which was what we had paid for. Again only after asking were we moved. Secondly the reception staff were not very helpful when I tried to extend our stay and instead caused major inconvenience. For the money we spent we did not feel we got the service.

Cardoso can improve service

The service at Cardoso has delcined after management changed some time ago. Some refurbishments have been done and newshowers in rooms looks great but water spills all over the floor.
Very good location and it is a great place tohavebreakfast overlooking the harbour and downtown Maputo.
