For the price of the breakfast, you can probably get something cheaper in the surrounding area. Free noodles at night, icrecream and probiotic drinks are welcome perks. Onsen time for women is a lot less than for men. Great view from the room if you have a room on the river side.

Staff were very nice. There is free ramen after 9pm which was handy in a pinch. The footbath was amazing, though we didnt partake in the onsen.

The are is extremely great, very close to Asakusa metro, and the whole Asakusa area is so fun to explore. Not on a loud/busy street too which was great.

The room we got was not very big, but were were able to manage our luggage. Having a comfortable bed/pillow was important for us, as we had fifficulty in past japan trips. The bed was nice, but the pillows were very flat. We asked reception if we could have a second pillow and they gave us each a much larger/fluffier one which was amazing! We really liked this place!

Small room facing Sumida river. Struggled with small bathroom with little counter space and required a 1 foot step up to enter and down to exit. Could hear train noise in evening. Otherwise, a convenient location. Enjoyed the hot foot bath and complimentary ice cream on 10th floor after long day of walking.

Just 2minutes walk from exit 7 Asakusa terminus station of Ginza subway line which is connected with Matsu Department store then you come up to ground level. The hotel is at opposite side of the road. Close to Senso Hi( Asakusa Temple). Can't be upset with shopping and dining options. Our room has great view overlooking Sumida Gawa (River Similar) and facing Skytree Tower. Staffs are friendly and courteous.

Express Dormy Inn has friendly and helpful staff. They've got everything you need, including the best feature (in my opinion) the foot bath at level 10. We get to relax and recover our overly exhausted feet from all the walking around in Tokyo. The location is good enough, walkable to many different metro operators. The only thing I don't like is the facility/building itself is quite outdated. Clean and tidy, but outdated. Which I know it could be a deal breaker for some. And the outdatedness is the reason that I took off a star out of 5. Everything else I'm quite happy with.

We had an excellent stay; our view of the Sumida River, Skytree, and cherry blossoms was so beautiful. Complimentary ramen in the evenings is a great way to end the day. Only wished that the hot springs hours were more convenient for women. Never got a chance to use it due to the hours. Will always stay at a Dormy Inn while in Japan. Truly a wonderful hotel.

Although the building and interior is a bit dated, this is an amazing hotel. Perfect location for visiting Asakusa sites, shopping, eating at a huge variety of eateries, and within minutes of several train stations. We booked a large room which was great for a 10-night stay. The river view in the photo is exactly what we saw outside our window - fantastic at night! Lovely river walk just below the hotel. So many extras - breakfast buffet, pubic bath, open-air foot bath, Japanese style pajamas to wear inside hotel, free ramen in the evenings, free washers and laundry soap, free massage chair, beverage vending machines. Friendly and very accommodating staff. Extra cleaning measures in place, recycling bins in laundry area, even paper envelopes to place your masks in while you eat. Absolutely recommend this hotel!

This place has really gone downhill. The breakfast used to be included and had a nice bit of fish, now does not and cost extra. Cleaning was not included in my room rate either - cleaning. The carpets were stained and dirty. The rooms musty. Air circulation was poor. The air conditioning didn't work well and was noisy. Rooms on the street/train station side are noisy so don't expect much sleep. The staff was rules oriented to the point of passive aggression. My 95 year old father was very ill, going to the hospital, and needed to stay in his room an hour past the standard 11 am check out time and they were completely uncaring and charged us 1k yen extra to wait until he could be transported to the hospital. This was after three of us staying in their hotel for a week. I could not have been less happy with this hotel.

A second visit for us...

We have stayed here before and enjoyed ourselves. We like the sense of authenticity and the friendly team. They were always ready to go the extra step for us.
We had a nice room with a view over the river. This was great to pop out at different times to see the sunset particularly.
I really like going up at night to the Onsen and having a good soak. This is a definite bonus.
We thought overall the Dormy was great value. We loved the breakfast too…. YMMV

This was great. Loved having curry for breakfast, the location is easy to get to the airport with some easy walking inn the evenings. I loved the baths but they may need to monitor better. There was a woman in there taking selfies and face timing which made me uncomfortable. Also nobody was cleaning themselves before getting in! I liked the nightly Ramen, the room was fresh. It was small like everywhere in Tokyo. Wifi was good, nice to have laundry. I would definitely stay again.

I will stay here when I come back to Japan. This is a great value. Everything you want from a stay in old Tokyo. Right across the street from the Ginza Line. Five minute walk to Kaminarimon gate. Department store and depachika across the street. Hot spring baths, sauna, free ramen nighttime snacks, and wonderful breakfast! Great for families.

Love the Japanese bath and sauna. Breskfast and night snack are good.
Nice river view. Not far from the Yokohama direct line train station. Next to the end stop of Ginza line subway. Close to all the main attractions of Asakusa. Will definately choose Dormy Inn Express again coming back to Tokyo the next time.

There was a vespa in my room when I finished shower.. I call front desk and they merely give a key for another room. We were scared but they dont help me to bring luggage.
Another item is the hot spring. Woman can only use it from 3pm to 8pm, which is not friendly as it is very rush for tourist. Usually people go back to hotel at 8-9pm.

It is in the heart of one of the tourist-must-go area. Lots of food and shop choices around the hotel for both the budget or not travelers. Plus the hot spring for foot and bath an extra plus for staying at this hotel. Only small complain is that the mattress and pillows are too hard for our comfort. Otherwise we enjoy the stay and will be back with this hotel when we come back to Tokyo

Originally We chose this hotel for the location but my family will return to it for its price & amenities.
Walking distance to Senso-ji, next to river , walk or two subway stops to Sumo Arena & Edo Tokyo museum.
We chose the breakfast plan which worked out because both a small buffet ( with fresh fruit & cereal & japanese hot breakfast was served.
Coffee & Tea available 24 hrs.in lobby.
Our room had a view of the river & window that opened.
We were 3 in a bunk bed fitted-out room. Rooms are quite small, not unexpected in Tokyo.
Bathroom with continual hot water for showers/ baths.
Hot pot for tea & noodles. Green tea powder works in a water bottle for summer heat. Small fridge.
A/C fully functional.
Staff efficient and helpful.
Top floor has hot water footbath, laundry room (washing machine & detergent complimentary, dryer requires payment), vending machines.
Lots of transportation lines, department stores & food places right out the door and up to 3 blocks away.
A few small bakeries open 6am which is useful for jet lag restlessness along with a nice river walk.

Old hotel but good location

This hotel is old but all amenities are in working condition. I believe that the onsen onsite is artificial hot spring, not natural. The breakfast is a semi-buffet, not full buffet. Hotel location is excellent, right opposite to Asakusa train and metro station.

It's Tokyo. You should not complain about the room space. You have PJ's and slippers provided by the hotel. Hotel cosmetics look a little outdated, but no major flaws to prevent a relaxing evening. Very convinient location to the subway and sight seeing locations

I have stayed in many hotels in Japan before but this hotel is by far one of the best! The Tokyo Skytree and river views outside my room were breath-taking, the onsen facility was relaxing, the breakfast and late night free supper noodles were delicious, the location is convenient, the hotel staff was helpful and friendly ... all in all, this hotel is highly recommended!

We enjoyed the plentiful and delicious breakfasts and the free ramen at night. If you can get in the foot bath, it was a great way to revive tired feet. The beds were only doubles but there were two futons in the closet. One teen took the bed and the other slept on the futons. Also liked the “pick your pillow” station so we could have the pillow we prefer. We loved the slippers and traditional pj/robes provided- a great touch. If taking the JR line from the airport go to the Ueno stop and change to the metro line (note: you need to leave the JR line building and go into the metro line building- you actually go outside). Staff was very friendly and their English was fine.

If you can get past the dated interior, this is a great hotel at a really good value. We had a beautiful view of the park, river and SkyTree Tower from our room. We enjoyed the breakfast every morning and the complimentary use of umbrellas several days due to the typhoon. The location is super convenient. We also enjoyed the foot bath and the free soba in the evening. The only negative is the dated interior. Everything functions fine and is clean - and the rest of the hotel experience is so good - we quickly got past it. The one thing I wish we had had was a bedside lamp.

Overall the bath / foot bath were great, room is mediocre, location is convenient, and breakfast is not worth it for vegetarians.

The bath and foot bath really made the stay worth it. Breakfast seemed good for meat eaters, but they don't cater for vegetarians. I only had their mini buffet (rice, bread, salad, fruit, yogurt), which was ok but not worth it in my opinion. One day even the rice had eel in it :( The hotel is located close to asakusa station, which is convenient, especially for heading out to Haneda airport (though there are plenty of stairs, not fun if you have a lot of luggage).

The room was okay - simple, compact, and functional. I could hear people in the hallway though, which was annoying. The motion detected light by the door also spontaneously turned on one night after I went to bed. It was pretty freaky, and I had no way of turning it off (just had to wait the 60 seconds for it to auto turn off), but thankfully that only happened once. Also, the hotel only has one elevator and no stairs, so you may spend some time waiting for the lift.

My first choice in Tokyo. Great staff, comfortable rooms, spa (furo) at all Dormy Inns, great breakfasts, free ramen at night. The river side rooms have a terrific view of the Skytree from your bed. One of the very few hotels right on the Sumida River.

Convenient and enjoyable stay with \"extras\"!

We stayed four nights. This place does a good job. The staff are fantastic. They have some great inclusions liike the noodle supper, a great breakfast, laundry, pillow \"library\", bathhouse.

Our room had a view over the river and while small (by aussie standards) it had it all along with some nice touches here too.

The location is excellent; close to the train and some interesting shopping areas and temples.

We would happily come again as it was great value.

My only gripe is the internet kept dropping out, probably overloaded? Deduct one eighth of a star for that! YMMV

As expected from all Dormy Inn stays, it was great, no surprises. Customer service is exemplary; the morning breakfast and evening ramen were tasty and included in the room rate. Convenient location near Tokyo subway and Tobu lines. All in all, another satisfying stay at the Dormy Inn Express - Asakusa.

The communal bath on the 10th floor is excellent! The very best part of the hotel. The room is adequate though small. The breakfast was a nice variety of food items and the service was friendly and patient with all my questions. The hotel is so convenient just a block from the subway station.

Convenient and next to the river.

The room is small but not untypical of a Tokyo hotel. The room is very clean and comes with a small kitchen counter for boiling water and fridge. Ask for a river view room, its great with the Asahi building, Tokyo Skytree and Sakura trees view!
The breakfast is amply supplied with delicious food and the staff are polite and effective.
Top floor foot bath and public bath are great after a long day of walking around. Taking away all your fatigue.

Location is hard to beat

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the Tobu Asakusa Station as we had to make a side trip to Nikko during our stay. We had a room on a high floor with a fantastic view of the Sumida River across from the Sky Tree and the Asahi Building. The hotel is within walking distance of the Sensoji Temple and the Nakamise Shopping Street. There are plenty of eateries in the area and we ended up having most of our dinners near the hotel. They have free soba noodles every evening from 9.30 pm but we were always too full to sample them. The front desk staff were very helpful, particularly the lady who helped us hail a taxi upon check out and made sure the driver know where to take us.
We have stayed at a few Dormy Inns before, and this was the only one where I could not enjoy their communal bath because the time slot for ladies to use it was during the day and until 8 pm which was when we were out sightseeing or shopping. I hope the management would consider alternating the schedule for men and women like most Japanese ryokans, so the ladies can have a chance to make use of the bath facilities.

Comfy, affordable, and great extras

The hot spring bath is small but cozy. If you go shortly after opening, you might have the whole bath to yourself. The Japanese style breakfast was delicious but I didn't get to try the free soba in the evening. The staff was very friendly and helped me to find the location and hours of a shop when I had a minor travel emergency. The rooms are modestly sized but not too small. I recommend paying the extra small fee for the river view: great photos of Tokyo Sky Tree.
