I stayed there for a fleeting moment for my son‘s college orientation. The room was very nice. Slept like a baby. No sounds you might hear in a hotel - it was absolute silence. The owner was gracious and accommodating of any needs that I might have had. I would definitely book a room there when visiting my son at college.

The whole experience was incredible, great room, bed was great, amenities were great, breakfast was so delicious and the owner was so very accommodating and delightful, she even sat with us at breakfast and we talked about all of our grandchildren.
Would absolutely recommend staying here and we will definitely be staying again!

A Charming Spur of the Moment visit

We arrived around 5:00 and Joan the innkeeper was there to check us in. She told us everything we needed to know and even told us that they renovated the inn 28 years ago. The Inn was very nice and we had the room on the 1st floor - it had an electric fireplace to make it cozy and a small bathroom. The next morning we enjoyed a hot egg bake breakfast with homemade jam. Joan was there to chat with us and we had a lovely discussion about our families. All in all a great trip. We would certainly return.

Check-in was a cinch. I got the Wi-Fi password and door code, asked about the time I wanted breakfast, and was given a lovely room.

The house is Victorian. Quiet area. I have to say that, for me, the best part is I didn't suffer from numbness in my legs.

I have a condition in which the skin on top of my thighs goes numb when I'm laying down unless I find the exact right position. When I woke up this morning, it took me a second to realize I didn't toss and turn trying to find the right position!

For those of you wanting a streamlined modern facility, this isn't it. But if you want quaint charm, lots of wood, old family photos, and a 1,000 piece puzzle to work on, you'll be in heaven.

I would absolutely stay there again!

It is a charming house, wonderfully peaceful and quiet location. Very Victorian decoration. Cheerful breakfast, cooked to order. All the amenities you could need in your room: fridge and microwave! Private bath of course.

Couple Travels

Very quaint Bed and breakfast full of charm, antiques, and family history! Breakfast homemade by owner and served with embroidered white linen napkins and crystal was a delight as were the owners. Integrity of 1896 house kept as much as possible with lots of family heirlooms and photos. Grounds were pretty and welcoming. Owner waited up for us when we were unexpectedly delayed. If you like charm, hospitality, and off the beaten path places, this is the place for sure!

Though not planning on a B and B ...

Though not planning on a B and B ... we thoroughly enjoyed meeting Joan, sleeping in a comfortable bed and looking over the lovely home. Our breakfast was superb, we enjoyed chatting with other guests and more conversation with Joan. Our very first B and B experience was memorable and we highly recommend Gallets!

Very uncomfortable

We stayed at the Carriage House. The entry way was dark and dank. The stairway was steep. We could smell cigarette smoke coming up from the rooms below us. The right (or wrong) color choice can have a tremendous impact on your state of mind and how balanced you feel. Well I felt unbalance and uncomfortable in all of the rooms in the carriage house. If you want to make your guests feel comfortable, relax and happy, then I would suggest you repaint all of the rooms so that they all blend together in harmony for good balance. One of the rooms made us so uncomfortable that neither one of us wanted to sleep in that room. It was dark and foreboding. We ended up sharing the same bed in another room. We wanted our own room. The carpeting in that room was worn; filthy and ripped in one area near the door.



I simply could not stay another night there. I?m sorry to say this but we will never go back there again.

Wonderful Getaway

We only stayed one night, but it was thoroughly refreshing. The room was comfortable and clean; we enjoyed relaxing in the sitting room; learning about the history of the house was fascinating; the breakfast was delicious; and conversation with Joan was enjoyable. We ate dinner at the local restaurant the Bird Cage, and had some delicious food.

Hosts were warm and friendly. Amazing service, home and room however, when we walked in the odor of cat urine was so strong we considered taking the loss and leaving..

Wonderful, restful stay!

I stayed at Gallets House for a weekend. It is very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The room I had was well appointed and quiet. Joan, the innkeeper is such a sweet person and a wonderful cook! Breakfasts were delicious, with plenty to eat and presented so nicely! The property is lovely, and the front porch is a place where you can just relax and read, or watch the world go by! I felt pampered, yet felt free to just come and go. Great B & B experience! I will definitely be staying again!

It was a quaint place to stay. The breakfast was very good, hospitality was good. Bed was worn & uncomfortable, and the bath was a bit dirty, kind of like mine at home after a day. For the price I expected better updated bedding. The common room in the basement is what you would expect, a bit moldy smelling. The operators did well, but once again for the $ I would expect a bit more. 4.5 on a scale of 10

It was wonderful. We didn't get in til about 8pm and left after breakfast, but wish we could have had more time to enjoy the wonderful front porch. Sat out there with a bottle of wine from about 9 - 11pm and could have sat out there all night! Breakfast was to die for.....we did not need lunch. Thanks Joan.

B&B close to Alleghany and Cuba lake

My husband and I went for our 25th wedding anniversary.
The B&B was beautiful well maintained home.The owner Joan, was a lovely woman!
Cheerful and bubbly! She answered all our questions about the history of the home. She also told us al about her ancestors that owned it before she did. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! She is a wonderful cook.
I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone that is looking to stay in that area.

A fairly unpleasant experience - old, shabby rooms (but plenty of space). We were also asked to take out the trash after our stay and expected to pay extra for breakfast (even though the place is advertised as a bed and breakfast).

Nice place.

Each room has a story and we stayed in Regina Barbara's. The snow almost ruined our trip but Joan catered to our needs. She is an awesome cook. The house is beautifully decorated from bedrooms to basement. If you are looking for hospitality and antiquity both - this is the place to stay in.

Excellent place, just off the beaten path

My girlfriend and I stayed a few days and nights here and found it to be quite nice. Pros: Friendly, clean, home-like atmosphere, well kept. Cons: low thread count sheets, very small fridge ill designed for bottle of beer (we are home brewers and sampled the Southern Tier's fine assortment of micro brews) that's really about it. We recommend it.

Wonderfully restored 19c house, fine hospitality

Gallets House has been restored to its turn-of-century beauty by a dedicated family with amazing skills in restororation. Rooms are immaculate, each with original furnishings. Some of the layouts are quirky -- this isn't a luxury hotel, but a comfortable place to stay in the rolling Allegheny River Valley. Breakfast is hand-crafted with local sourced goodies. Highly recommended for adult travelers.
