The staff was very kind and helpful getting me checked in with my last minute check -in. He maintained my privacy when another guest crowded the desk for service (didn't tell me my room number aloud, passed the key card to me without revealing the room number, and did not use my name). The clerk didn't rush me even though the other guest was a bit impatient.
The building was clean but had stains on hall carpets. My room was clean and was a handicapped room - which is to be expected when making a last minute reservation on a busy Saturday night. I was, however, confused as to how anyone in a wheel chair could use the bathroom. There were no grab bars, the toilet was in a narrow alcove which would make transferring from a chair to the toilet very difficult; a person in a chair would not be able to reach the sink or shower faucets, or the soap etc. hung on the walls.
I am sure that the staff would supply soap etc. if requested and maybe another room is actually accessible. And the hotel may be within legal compliance. But making these changes to the room wouldn't be very expensive but would add ease of use and dignity to anyone who needs a little help getting off the toilet or a bar to safely get in and out of the shower. The most expensive investment would be the plumbing work required to move the toilet to the wider alcove in the bathroom.
Overall, I was grateful for a clean, safe place for a good price.
