One-Night Business Trip Disappointment

I had high-expectations for my one-night stay at the hotel. but my overall experience was a disappointment. To list a few unpleasant surprises:
- No one helped me with my bags (or attempted to) upon arrival or check-in.
- mini bar was empty, no snacks or fruits in the room. called the room service and reception multiple times and they promised to fill the mini bar up...it took 4 hours. They sent me a complimentary basket of fruit and desert as an apology (that was nice but it came at 1 am in the morning!)
Overall, it was overpriced with below average service and experience.

I am used to this hotel but this time it was not up to my expectations. The Executive lounge service and menu was quite disappointing. The only good thing was the staff at Reception desk. The hotel needs a brand management as it was in the past.

Bathroom flooded (leaking shattaf and shower not draining), marble plinth on which the sink is located had sharp edges. Check-in very slow and check-out staff slow and unhelpful (no real understanding of customer service). Very surprised that the hotel is part of the Kempinski group.

The hotel building is nice, lobby is okay but the rooms are small and terrible, with walls at many awkward angles. Not enough space in the room to walk and you keep bumping into the desk or the chair. Hot water didn’t work in my room on one of the three days. The bathroom design is poor. They seem to have plonked a bathtub in what was probably the only space to stand in the bathroom. So access to basin is hard and you need to squeeze into the spaces. Opening shower door is hard. Shower area got flooded every day due to poor drainage. Amenities (bath gel/shower cap etc.) were not replenished daily and I had to call housekeeping. And for vegetarians, please note that the restaurant has only one veg dish. Hotel kept changing the car pickup from hotel front to the basement almost on an hourly basis, confusing residents and car/Uber drivers. Not recommended for what they charge.

Very nice

Overall, it was a very nice venue for a one-day staycation. The spa was accommodating to a last-minute booking, meals (room service) very nice and prompt and the staff perfectly professional. There were some minor issues with some requests, perhaps due to language barrier, but they were solved adequately. The bathroom was wonderful and spa-like, but the room itself was a little plain for the caliber of hotel. Burj Rafal Hotel was marginally nicer when it was branded Kempinski; unfortunately some of the amenities Kempinski is known for (such as the cloud-like bedding) seem to have gone away with the name.

Everything was nice at this hotel, I liked the bathtub even more which made me lazy to see the city, this shower was a bit dark would find better designing but its okay, the housekeeping didn’t add soap which isn’t usual for 5 stars hotel but everything else was nice, free valet parking is very helpful because I’m always lazy to park.

Bad service I ordered food at 2 am and when I asked him to sign he said no pay cash i said my wallet in the car he said ok i will check i said ok let me sign and i will pay when i check out he said ok i will check with them and he leave, after 10 min and my family sleep around 3 am they called to the phone of the room and they disturb us when nobody answer they call to my personal mobile !! And the houss keeping they come at 10 am i said come after one hour they didn’t come when talk to the manager he said u have only one clean a day u refused it the will not come again ..!! At this moment I thought i am in a jail not hotel :) .. overall not recommended at all.

Train your staff properly

I stayed for one night, the staff lacks skills, they made too many mistakes during check in/out. The room layout is so weired. My overall stay was so bad and i would definitely not stay their again.

Very stylish hotel

The pros: Very stylish. Modern. Comfortable beds. Nice view of the city lights at night. Guests are warmly greeted by Arabic coffee and dates. Helpful staff - promptly attended to our needs. High quality food at the restaurants.

The cons: the location is a bit far from the ministries and from the souqs. The restaurants are a bit too pricey.

OK for business travel; water quality is horrible

So far my stays were pleasant. Room is very clean and comfortable. All hotel restaurants are closed during the day through Ramadan, so only room service is available. Food quality is decent.

One let-down was with the hotel's car booking service. No car showed up for the scheduled time. After waiting for 10 minutes and trying very hard to track down a staff who could finally figure out where my car was, I was told that they just forgot to book my car. I ended up getting a taxi myself and was late for my meeting.

Also the tap water quality is very bad. There were many white deposit formed on bathroom sink and faucet after I turned on the tap. And it is the same problem with the shower water too. I understand it is the standard water quality in the country, but the hotel could have easily installed a water filter.

Hotel good, service not so great

The rooms are nice, service lets it down. Food distinctly average but expensive, and not a huge amount of choice. Trying to get hold of the concierge is v difficult. Trying to get a car or taxi is difficult. I was late for meetings on more than one occasion because they said they'd booked a car but never did. Most annoyingly, the staff didn't seem to feel any urgency to sort out their mess. Made every morning a worry.

It was not bad. However I see no reason for the high prices compared to the amenities provided. By the way, don't you ever think of eating in the Ottoman (Turkish restaurant) inside the hotel. Not only is it extremely over priced yet food taste and quality is literally baaaaaad. Shame on them. I paid 550 SAR, I should say, I wasted 550 SAR. Never again.

Overly priced. For the same price I strongly suggest staying in Alfaisaliah. One of a kind in Riyadh.

Contemporary room with one of the walls completely window glass. I had the jonior suite and the bedroom was combined with the living area. Lights were smart and classy. The bathroom has a separate tub overlooking a wall of window glass. There is a separate shower.
Things this place is missing are few like: iPod dock and movies on demand
