The staff went out of their way to help with whatever we needed, including help with a rental car issue. The restaurant dinner was very high quality. The family connection with the winery made for a very enjoyable stay. It featured a wine made from grapes of a varietal thought to be extinct but was rescued when its roots were discovered in a cave. The wine Tizza was probably the best I have ever had the chance to enjoy!

Would stay here again

The hotel is very nice. The bar and breakfast area is very comfortable. The staff is extremely nice and friendly. This is a family owned hotel. The pool was lovely and clean. We has a problem with our air conditioner and they were very responsive and got it working. The location was also very convenient to Montepulciano and other communities. We didn't eat at the restaurant but it was full on our arrival so I'm assuming it has good food.

Wonderful family run place. Everyone was so friendly and helpful during our stay, especially Frederico who gave us helpful information on avoiding ZTLs in Montepulciano, information on other places to visit, and who arranged a lovely winery tour for us. Marzio was helpful as well. We stayed in a beautiful, spacious apartment with a large balcony and lovely view. Very clean. Excellent location. Great food in the restaurant and Georgia was also very nice. Would definitely come back if traveling in this area again!

We stayed two nights at Villa Ambra and were very pleased with all the amenities including full restaurant, excellent breakfast and very convenient and comfortable rooms. The owner and family gave great advice on places to visit in the nearby towns including Montipulciano and also arranged a tour and tasting of a winery owned by the hotels family.

This was a very nice hotel, and the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. You really do need a car staying here to get around. We didn't have one and nothing is really within walking distance to the hotel and taking a taxi gets really expensive.

Also, we went for a visit to their vineyard. Everything was outstanding! They have different kinds of activities… ask Andrea. The view when we are there is indescribable.

Don’t judge a book by its cover!

On arrival with 2 couples in 2 sports cars for a 1 night stay whilst touring Italy we felt the place on first impressions was very dated and in need of investment. Rooms in particular are dated although some recent items upgraded but were clean.
However once we were settled in the staff who seemed mainly family were very friendly and helpful and couldn’t be nicer. A minor issue with a toilet flush was immediately repaired. The dining room isn’t particularly inviting on first impressions as a bit stark and dated ohowever the food was excellent and very tasty.
Breakfast was alfresco on terrace as a lovely morning and great spread.
The photos used seem to be taken a while back judging by the vegetation and are actually the back of the hotel and the pool isn’t heated. However we were there early in the summer season so not a complaint.
On departure we all said it turned out a much nicer stay that we had initially thought.
We would also recommend the winery visit and sampling. It is all family owned and a very informative and knowledgeable Alasandre gave us our tour and we ended up arranging shipping of wines back home. We would happily stay again if in the area.

Beautiful Toscana

We had an extremely pleasant stay at Villa Ambra. It’s location just 4km outside of Montepulciano was ideal and allowed us to travel to the town and wander very easily. Breakfast was plentiful with local delicacies and both our room and the communal areas of the hotel were clean and comfortable. The swimming pool was excellent and, even at the height of summer, there were relatively few people using it at any one time. Above all, however, the staff were extremely friendly and accommodating, encouraging us to use Italian when we could, but also fully fluent in English as needed. We would definitely recommend this hotel for a wonderful stay in Tuscany.

Villa Ambra for an experience of a lifetime

Absolutely fantastic. Very close to Montepulciano which is an amazingly well preserved Tuscan hill town with incredible art and architecture. The underground tour at Ercolano winery is an experience that will create lifelong memories. Viila Ambra itself has beautiful grounds and a very well-maintained pool. The 2 BR apartments are quite large with balconies running the length of the units and overlooking lush forested grounds. The restaurant on the grounds is fantastic -- we ate there 3 of the 5 night we spent there. The service is extremely friendly -- make you feel like family.

Good base to explore from

Good for a budget stay just outside of Montepulciano if you have a car. It’s a bit out of the way if you don’t have own transport though. It wasn’t spotlessly clean but it was alright. Dinners in-house are rather expensive, however the breakfasts are fantastic! Good as a base to explore from but we didn’t want to spend too much time just hanging around the venue.

Lovely place to stay.

We really enjoyed our two nights at this hotel. The staff/owners were very friendly and our room was very comfortable. We enjoyed their breakfast, dinners and wine. Even though the water was a little cold, my husband enjoyed swimming in the pool. Great location if you have rented a car. We drove to Montepulciano and had a great time exploring this little hilltop town.

Good value for money. Nice location which is convenient to explore nearby cities. Good wifi. Ok breakfast. There should be a \"do not disturb\" sign in the room so I could hang it in front of my room. I didn't want the maid to knock the door in the morning and not want her to come in when I went out for breakfast. Instead I want her to come in the afternoon. And what she did was only making a bed and changing towels. She didn't clean anything.

Beautiful location & wonderful hosts

The best thing about this hotel is its beautiful location and its hosts. But, note that it's only accessible by car, as it's located essentially along the highway. The hotel has a decent pool, and is located in a very nice region, surrounded by trees and calm, relaxing atmosphere. This is the type of hotel where you can spend 1-2 days just relaxing by the pool, sitting outside reading a book and interacting with its wonderful and welcoming hosts.
If you do stay here for a few nights, its location means that you can visit multiple towns and regions by car over several days. Montepulciano is to the north and a must visit. Montalcino is to the west, and about 45 mins drive. To the south, one can visit Orvieto and Civita and there is also a scenic drive loop one can do, which would take about 2 hours total, but is absolutely worth it. Cortona is to the northeast, about 1 hr drive. Another option is to visit Fosso Bianco, which is a place with natural warm pool waters, in the middle of a forest; it's about a 40 mins drive from the hotel, to the southwest.
The hotel has a restaurant with market prices and great food. The rooms, however, are only average. They are basic, with somewhat old furniture and basic bed mattresses. The bathroom is clean, with all the amenities and the shower is standard Euro style size. Our room had a pretty large balcony, but no AC. The balcony doors seemed to be somewhat broken, and couldn't be fully closed.

A great find. Good facilities and excellent hosts

We stayed here just one night whilst touring Tuscany. A lovely location convenient for local towns and routes and a few kilometres from Montepulciano.
Dinner excellent with good local foods and their own family produced wines. Try th 'Nobile Di Montepulciano ' they produce, it's excellent.
Overall a lovely place to stay. The standard rooms are a little basic but overall an excellent hotel with a nice pool.

Great for a Tuscan getaway

This is a lovely place, just outside of Montepulciano. Easy to reach by car and the parking is free. The hosts are cheerful, helpful, and lovely. The rooms are spacious. The location is very quite and peaceful but in a convenient location to tour Tuscany.

Subpar budget hotel

The hotel appears to be really nice, but as we came at night we couldn't really see much of the view. The staff was very helpful and serviceminded, but spoke very littel English.
The room itself left quite a lot to wish for. First, there were no power sockets at all in the room. In order to access one, you had to drag the desk away and disconnect either the fridge or the TV! There was one in the bathroom, but hey, why place the ONLY one there???
The beds were OK and the TV as well. Only Italian channels though and no BBC news or CNN.
Our room was also right next to the elevator and the stairwell and this made it very noisy. The noise lasted until midnight and started again at 6am which made sleeping hard. Earplugs is most recommended as the walls are paperthin.
The hotel was within driving distance to Montepulciano which was nice.

A lovely family-run hotel

This is a lovely, family-run hotel which is located in a particularly interesting part of Tuscany with many wonderful places to visit in the vicinity. The hotel is very well run by the family and the atmosphere is exceptionally friendly and personal. All in all, it provides very good value for money, especially if you eat in the hotel restaurant.

Love this Place!

This is a beautiful place to stay. It is away from all the tourism and you get the actual feel that you are in Italy. This place is a family run business that also have a winery and produce olive oil. There is a restaurant there where the food is all fresh and delicious! We ate there every night because the food and wine was so good. You won't be sorry if you stay there.

Fantastic Tuscany hotel.

The Villa Ambra is set high above a Tuscan valley in the beautiful Montepulciano area. You are greeted by the owner and it his son, the facility is immaculate, and there is a clean swimming pool which is a huge plus as it can be quite warm in the summer. The only negative is that every room doesn't yet have air conditioning. This is a MUST in the summer. Otherwise this is a fantastic place hosted by enthusiastic and genuinely nice staff.

Great personal service

We stumbled upon this hotel on hotels.com while we were driving towards Montepulciano. This place is a little south of Montepulciano, located in the hills. We had a fantastic homecooked 6-course dinner at the hotel restaurant, very reasonably priced. The next morning, the owner showed us his vineyard and olive groves a short drive away from the hotel and explained about the natural organic wines and olive oils, amongst other products. There's a lovely pool too. What an amazing experience. If we holiday in this region again, Villa Ambra is where we will be staying.

so very cold in the autumn

We stayed in the apartments in October. It was so cold. It was possible to heat the rooms but not the living room and kitchen. I am sure it is nice in the summer but not now.
The breakfast was great and the people at the front desk was very nice.

På Villa Almbra fungerade allt väldigt bra. Trevlig plats och väldigt god mat. Vi stannade i två nätter och när vi runt i Toscana. Trevlig incheckning av värden, som också var väldigt trevlig och hjälpsam. Vi kommer gärna tillbaka.

Es war von Anfang an alles perfekt.
Das gesamte Personal samt Chef waren sehr freundlich und immer gut gelaunt. Wir haben hp gebraucht und waren mit den Mahlzeiten mehr als zufrieden. Das Abendessen wurde als vier Gängige Menü serviert und war sehr lecker. Am Morgen gab es überwiegend süßes Frühstück mit verschiedenem Obst.
Auch an der Sauberkeit haben wir nichts zu bemängeln, alles Top👍Die Gegend rund um Montepulciano hat uns auch sehr gut gefallen. Vielen Dank noch einmal für alles.
