Extremely unpleasant on all accounts. First, stench of sea weed everywhere. Beach was closed. The pools were very crowded and noisy. Service everywhere was very slow. Tried to upsell time shares at the Grand - signed us up without consent and then kept calling at 7:30 am to find out why we were not there for the \"tour.\" Food at the buffets was minimal, cold and stale. Other restaurants barely gave any food - portion sizes small. Room service was always 1-1:30 hr wait no matter what time of day or night. And they never picked up after - had to wait for housekeeping the next day. Transport within the facility was very sporadic. We had seniors and had to wait nearly 1 hour to get transport from the wedding lawn to the hotel room despite asking staff to call for the golf carts. Housekeeping did not respect the privacy sign. As Expedia VIP, we were supposed to get an upgrade - which did not materialize. Spa service was pathetic. we had to pay $12 for oil! And, it was CBD oil - which we were not told ahead of time. They gouge you at every turn. They entice you with $500 credits which you can barely use on anything useful, and they charge 16% \"tax\" on it. Please stay way from this resort.

It's the second time we've stayed at this hotel, and our experience was excellent. I highly recommend it—the food, the room, and the friendly staff were all great. The only thing I'd mention is that some parts of the pools need maintenance, but it's nothing serious. I'll definitely be back.

We had a wonderful stay at Moon Palace Cancun. The resort was beautiful, the food was great, and there were so many activities for kids—my children had an amazing time, and we truly enjoyed our vacation.

However, there was one issue that affected our experience. We traveled as two families and requested rooms close to each other, but we were placed far apart. Unfortunately, when we spoke with the staff, the situation was not resolved, which was disappointing.

Overall, it is a fantastic resort for families, and we had a great time, but I hope they improve how they handle room placement for guests traveling together.

My favourite all-inclusive experience so far. The staff at this resort are phenomenal, the property is beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, and the food was better than anticipated, especially at the a la carte restaurants. The rooms are quite spacious, so it was disappointing to see two double beds instead of queens; that change would make this place a 10/10.

We did 6 night as moon palace cancun from April 19-25th. We were little nervous before going there. There are alot of reviews that confuse you.
At first we were worried that we been put into moon palace sunrise instead of the grand(expedia pictures shows mostly grand) and it might not be good. But after spending 4 nights at sunrise and 2 and grand
I realized that sunrise has more activity and shows for kids. Even sunrise pool are well maintained and good fun for kids.
Overall trip was great with no issues. Staff was really helpful and kids had great time.
I will want to thank Fabricio for making your stay comfortable and made sure all our needs are met. Highly recommend great resort with great service.

The pool entertainment staff was awesome! They rotate the activities a bit every day for variety. The room was a bit small for the 2 large suitcases we brought so one was relegated to the floor. The bartenders were all great and the staff very friendly and accommodating. Lastly, this is a very large property and they have golf carts which can take you anywhere you want to go -- take advantage of them!

The staff are wonderful, the resort is very clean, food at the restaurants is particularly good, and there are lots of things for the kids to do. This would have been 5 stars except we really disliked being sold-to during our vacation. They offered us a room upgrade if we agreed to a 90 minute presentation. This turned into a nearly 3 hour sales pitch for Palace Membership where they tried to get us to buy a $55,000 time share. Also, the resort credits are nearly worthless; there are strict limits on what you can use them for and how much you can use on any given stay. They even tried to sell us a $300 “coupon” for our next stay at checkout. It’s a shame that the company’s policies are so scammy because the actual staff (even the sales people) are quite lovely.

We had a wonderful stay at this large resort, which offers plenty of activities for families with young children. Our boys especially enjoyed the wired lounge after dinner, and the evening shows were a highlight for all of us.

The food overall was excellent, with a wide variety to choose from. We also loved the coffee shop, which had a great selection of snacks, desserts, and drinks.

There were multiple pools with lots of space around them, making it easy to relax. The photoshoot experience was a special touch, and the morning gym classes felt almost like private sessions with only a few participants.

If there is one area for improvement, it would be the beach. There was a noticeable fishy smell and quite a bit of seaweed, even though we visited in February, which is typically not peak season for it.

So I will start with the good:
Loved the overall resort. There was a lot to do, the entire staff was very attentive and kind, there was enough seating space in the pool, loved the kids Playroom, riding the golf carts was fun and they came by pretty frequently- we never waiting more than 10 minutes. The rooms were clean and loved that room service is available 24/7.

The bad:
I will start with he more general - expect about an hour or more from the moment you enter the hotel to when you finally get to your room. Check-in took longer than expected. I waited in line for about 25 minutes ( and i was in the express lane) . Then they have sales people try to upsell you on other things which took an additional 20 minutes. After a long flight, we just wanted to get to our rooms as soon as possible. When we got to our room, our room keys did not work so we had to go back to the lobby and get them re-scanned.

We also had a particular bad experience where our elevator did not work. We were in the third floor and I am currently 7 mo pregnant so it was pretty rough going up and down like that. on our second night the electricity went out 3 times. I finally called support when it was night time and requested to get our rooms changed since it was taking a while to get it resolved and it was hot and humid in our room.

The new room was better since it was closer to the lobby and pool- they also gave me a free spa/ foot massage due to the incontinence.

The facility looks dated, though for an older facility it is well maintained. It does show some signs of wear and tear but nothing outstanding.

I had roaches inside my room, but I wasn't too concerned as we are in a tropical area. The staff was helpful to provide pest control upon letting them know of the cockroaches.

The only downside of the trip was they were very pushy with their sales pitch for us to become members. Pushy to the point of rude and turning you off.

Lots of good things, but I don't think I will recommend to my friends and family due to some bad parts.

THE GOOD
1. Premium finishes throughout
2. Great pools and poolside entertainment and amenities
3. Most staff are very friendly and helpful

NOT SO GOOD
1. I received $750 worth of \"resort credits,\" which is a fancy way of saying I prepaid for tours and I never ended up taking or using. The one tour I did end up taking did not accept my \"resort credits.\" The four spa treatments I tried to schedule were never responded to/scheduled by an agent.
2. When you need something from the concierge or tour desk, it's going to take a long time. Nothing works like clockwork. E.g., 1 hour to get a tour booked, with about 20 minutes just on hold. It's like a factory that still hasn't developed repeatable processes.
3. Discovered what *appeared* to be two different drug stashes just offshore the hotel beaches. What do I mean by that? Well, imagine playing in the water 40 feet off a beach with your family and you step on something squishy. You pull up a brick sized thermo-sealed plastic bag full of fine grains or powder. Then you pull up 2 more from the same spot. Then, 200 yards down the beach, you find another similar stash. I have never experienced this before.
4. Brings out some unethical behavior in guests and staff. On at least two occasions, I saw guests jump lines, or get in yelling fights, and instead of guiding guests to proper behavior, the staff just tolerated it.

If you are looking to stay somewhere a little busy, Sunrise is it. We were there end of March, lots of young people but lots of families too. Ice cream is very good. Restaurant reservations are hard to get. Expect to wait for things like drinks, etc.

Sunrise resort is bigger and more crowded than Nizuc. Nizuc is quieter and smaller.

There is a decent size pool at Sunrise resort for kids with a few slides.

The playroom is the standout attraction. Very clean, lots to do. Also there is an arcade in the lobby area which is pretty amazing.

Overall good if you like a bigger resort. Like many places, food is hit and miss. Some good, some bad.

Very difficult to get beach chairs. Everyone comes out at 7am to reserve them and so if youre late good luck.

Beach is very dirty with seaweed. But not big waves which is nice.

The staff and workers all were very pleasant. They all worked hard and put 100% effort to make the trip enjoyable. The one nightmare we had was with Palace Elite offices. Very pushy in trying to make you join their membership. They made a mistake with out billing which ended up overcharging our bill. We spend hours and hours of our vacation trying to clear up this bill and they still didnt take care of it.

Our stay at Moon Palace was hazardous and resulted in physical injury. This is not the \"Luxury All-Inclusive\" experience advertised; it is an active industrial construction site that ignores basic guest safety.
I have uploaded photos documenting three critical failures:
1.Physical Injury: I sustained a deep laceration to my leg due to broken and poorly maintained facilities on the property.
2.Chemical Negligence: We found staff applying industrial vinyl paint inside the children’s playroom while it was occupied by children. My child was exposed to these fumes. Management’s claim that the area was \"restricted\" is a flat-out lie, as my photos show the room was open and in use.
3.Active Construction: There were tractors and heavy machinery operating daily in guest areas and on the beach. The noise and safety risks made it impossible to have a relaxing vacation.
Expedia and the hotel have both refused to take responsibility for these safety breaches. If you are traveling with a family, avoid this resort. It is dangerous, and management is dismissive of documented injuries and chemical exposure

You will get tormented unless you do the “Orientation Meeting”. Called our rooms 8:30 and for 2 days until I disconnected the phone. This turned us off the very 1st day. Most staff are friendly but many aren’t into it. Bartenders are slow and have conversations between themselves when there are lineups. Be prepared to be spoken to like a child. We especially liked the Cafe Bistro with touch screen ordering, the poolside little cooking stations for a taco or nachos as a snack, the evening shows (esp the breakdancing one). Difficultly getting dining reservations. We received $750 resort credits per room & they were useless. Room service dishes didn’t get picked up when u requested that service thru the resort app. All staff in lobby try to sell you a prepaid trip, upgrades or time share subscriptions. It makes u uncomfortable to go to lobby…. Next to all the restaurants. Also on checkout, hotel staff follow you to discuss how u can save $200 a night if prepay to redeem/book a future reservation within 2 years. From the moment we arrived, we were constantly plagued by an unpleasant stench permeating the air one reminiscent of sulfur or sewage. Even after moving to our room, the foul odor persisted; throughout our entire stay morning, noon, and night we suffered from the ceaseless presence of this offensive smell. Furthermore, whenever we brushed our teeth or washed our faces, the water itself emitted that same distinct, terrible stench. The situation in the room occupied by my younger sister and her husband was exactly the same, and they, too, experienced significant discomfort as a result.

Stayed March 17-22, 2026 with my elderly mother and two kids (ages 9 and 11). The resort itself is large with decent pools, restaurants, and a kids club. My children enjoyed the facilities and we had some good family moments. That part was fine.
The reason for this rating is the Palace Elite timeshare operation that is baked into the check-in experience.
At check-in, staff in green shirts approached me, called me an \"Expedia VIP,\" and offered two complimentary Grand Day Passes to The Grand section of the resort. This sounded like an Expedia benefit. It was not. It was a timeshare sales pitch.
The catch: my entire family — including my 76-year-old Mandarin-speaking mother and my two young children — had to sit through a 90-minute sales presentation. I offered to attend alone. Refused. Since my mother speaks no English or Spanish and my kids are 9 and 11, this was an impossible condition.
Result: I paid $600 USD out of pocket for the day passes that had been offered as \"free gifts\" moments earlier.
It gets worse. When I complained, the resort offered a $200 partial refund — but only if I signed a Release of All Claims with a confidentiality clause preventing me from discussing the experience publicly. I declined to sign a gag order.
I also later learned that my booking included $250 in resort credits as part of Expedia's VIP Access program. Nobody at check-in told me about them. They went unused. The only \"VIP benefit\" anyone communicated was the timeshare presentation.

The hotel is massive and the food is very good. Customer service at throughout the hotel is great minus the front desk which is awful. They threaten to make you pay $150 a day if you lose your wristband and it is the only way to get into your room. This part was a huge turn off. The pools, restaurants and amenities are great but the beach is horrible and looks black with seaweed for about a 100 feet out which makes it unable to swim in so that was disappointing to be in Cancun without being able to use the beach.

Luckily they had a cot they squeezed in so it worked out but I feel like they could have been more accommodating in the beginning instead of causing quite the panic between 3 grown people about how we were going to sleep. Resort is trying to squeeze money out of you any way they can.
We had to cancel massage appointment at the spa, since one of us got burned in the sun, and could not make it to the appointment due to pain. Hotel still charged full fee. We tried to talk to supervisors about it, spent hours of valuable vacation time discussing it asking for a refund. Unfortunately, nothing helped. They did try to negotiate to lower the payment amount for the massage that was not performed. But in the end still charged the full amount. We wasted hours of precious vacation time trying to talk to the staff. Seems like one person doesn't know what the other one is doing- disorganized in this sense.

Room wasn't like expected and if you go check for roaches are room had roaches we called and seems they didn't care alot we had to ask to change us room ,restuarant staff where great,pool staff wasnt really there when needed, bar drinks wasn't good at all and the bar staff wasn't either friendly over all is not worth staying there for the price

Very clean resort. Good staff. Good food. Very big though and sometimes golf cart needed to get around. So depending on what room you get that may be a downside. Sometimes seemed like resorts too big for amount of serving staff (bartenders etc.). Others in our group tried room service and again the resort is too big and takes hours…

Great hotel, we loved it! Just wish that they would fill our shampoo, conditioner and body wash more often as we would realize in the shower that it was out. This happened twice and that was annoying as you are mid shower, need to get out and call the front desk, and then wait until they came to tip them up.

Moon Palace Sunrise was one of my least enjoyable resorts in recent trips. Dinner reservations were super hard to come by even though they were required for nearly all restaurants and for being a family friendly resort it was odd that most nights we had to eat at 9 pm or later. This also made it difficult to attend any of the nightly shows. Almost every pool chair is reserved prior to 8 am and rarely occupied throughout the day. The push to attend the sales pitch is way overdone and when we tried to simply pay for day passes to the Grand it was so difficult we ended up wasting hours with staff who could not fathom people wanting to pay instead of waste the day on their pitch. Will not be going back ever!

This is our second time in 2 years. First time we stayed at Nizuc without our kids, second time Sunrise, with kids. We are always very impressed with the resort staff, cleanliness, prompt service, great restaurant choices, great amenities, pretty good evening entertainment. Safe, secure property. Beach sucks. Dont stay here for the beach. The pools are great! The wait staff at the pools, and the swim-up bars are wonderful. Kids activites are more than adequate. We like Nizuc better for an adult-only trip. There are fewer children there.

We stayed at Moon Palace in Cancun and attended a presentation at Moon Palace Grand. Overall, the experience was quite disappointing.

The rooms at Moon Palace were not great—they felt outdated and not as clean or well-maintained as we expected for a resort at this price point.

The resort also felt extremely crowded the entire time. There were too many people everywhere, especially in common areas like the arcade, which made it hard to enjoy. Even basic things like meals became frustrating, with long lines for lunch and dinner buffets almost every day.

As vegetarians, we also struggled with food options. There were very limited choices available, and it became repetitive and difficult to find satisfying meals throughout the stay.

Our biggest concern, however, was the experience at Moon Palace Grand during the presentation. The staff there came across as unhelpful and at times rude, which left a very negative impression. A simple issue like missing shower gel in the room turned into a hassle—we had to call multiple times, and it still took a long time to be delivered.

Overall, the experience did not live up to the expectations or the cost. Between the crowded environment, limited food options, poor room quality, and service issues at Moon Palace Grand, it wasn’t the relaxing vacation we were hoping for.

Staff were wonderful, clean most of the time. Just the one incident when toilet was plugged close to the lobby bar and wasn’t cleaned for about 40 minutes. Can’t blame the staff as it was very busy but other than that, the food was good.

Disappointed to say the least. I knew about the seaweed. Did not know it would be a filthy dark, dirty beach with dump trucks and tractors going non stop across the beach. We were in the old part called \"Sunrise\" in the smallest room which smelled like paint in the bathroom and the whole time I just wanted some cleaner and a scrub brush to clean the shower. and although we paid for a \"garden view\" we found out all rooms faced the garden. Lots of pools, pool chairs, friendly staff but be prepared to be walked right over to the time share/moon palace club sales people right when you get there and offered $600 worth of \"day passes\" to the grand for sitting through a 90 minute class. No thank you. Food was not great. Breakfast and room service were the best. Very little to do if you want to be busy. Excursion and staff booking the excursions were 10/10. Family friendly if you want close to the airport and don't care about the ocean.

We had a garden view and the ocean was still visible. The ocean was not very pretty this time of year (lots of seaweed in March) but the pools make up for it ! Poolside service was just okay but Dario at the Gondola restaurant made every breakfast special for my family of 12!! The housekeeping staff is friendly and so are the room service staff! We loved being able to schedule milk to be delivered to the room in the mornings for our baby. Overall we loved the resort and would definitely return! Momo (hibachi and regular side) are amazing for dinners!
