The dining room was bright and airy with a relaxing lounge/reading area next door and a bar with a fossil display. It tells you something that I was waiting in anticipation for the Hotels.com email just so I could get online and give Hensleigh House the five star rating it absolutely deserves. From the moment we were greeted at the door until the time we waved goodbye, our stay was first class.
The building itself is beautiful with plentiful carparking out front which made access easy if needed. Inside, the bedrooms and ensuites were immaculate. Comfortable beds, windows you can actually open to let in fresh air, and decor some of the country's top hotels would do well to take tips from. Attention to detail was such that even the box of tissues on the bedside table carried the bird motif theme of the bedroom wallpaper.
Downstairs, the shared lounge invites you in with its twinkling red lights and sofa you can sink into, and the bright breakfast room with it's big windows was a joy to come down to in the morning, if the smell of breakfast being cooked up wasn't enough on its own 🙂

I honestly cannot fault it and we will absolutely be going back again. In fact - I'm quite loathe to write such a glowing review in case it gets booked out!!

Definitely a 5* review, we would definitely stay again. We had a family room so the children had their own bedroom. It was one of the cleanest places we’ve ever stayed in, immaculate! The breakfast options were fantastic and the staff were all so friendly. We immediately felt relaxed.
Locationwise it was a short stroll to the beach or up the hill to the lovely Royal Oak pub. We also had a tasty lunch at the local Bank Cafe. Very short journey over to Lyme. Quiet in the evenings. Perfect location for us.

Would have been nice to have herbal teas in the room as there was only water available for me. A pack of biscuits each would have been nice too. First trip away after a very long lockdown and it was wonderful. Rooms and shared spaces were spotless and felt very safe with hand sanitiser dotted around for everyone to use. Breakfast was delicious and well organised, we were asked to sit at the same table everyday which was perfect. Location was spot on! About a 5 min walk from the beach and 10 min drive to Lyme Regis and 20 to West Bay for lots of yummy places to eat and drink. Would recommend to anyone! Thanks again. Hope to visit again soon.

Having wanted for some time to explore the Jurassic coast, my wife and I arrived at Hensleigh House last week and stayed for four days. We also hoped to have a go at some fossil hunting. Having travelled quite a lot in recent years, we know that booking an hotel online is always a bit of a hit and miss affair. However, things were looking good as soon as we arrived, and we were pleasantly surprised to find an amply-sized car park with good space for each vehicle.
The owner met us at the door, and after a brief and friendly introduction, he showed us up to our room which was bright and cheerful, and we immediately felt at ease. The bed looked inviting and there was a feeling of freshness in the air. Indeed, the bed turned out to be extremely comfortable, as did the pillows, and we slept soundly.
Everything was there including tea-making facilities, and there was no skimping on the little things such as the ample number of milk capsules, and biscuits.
The generosity extended to the breakfast, with a large selection of cereals, yoghurts, local jams etc. One could order from a very comprehensive cooked breakfast menu, even including delicious fresh kippers which my wife enjoyed on two separate occasions. Plentiful supplies of coffee and toast were provided, with the friendly staff always ensuring we had enough of everything...
As to the location itself, Hensleigh House could hardly be better positioned for fossil hunting. Thoroughly recommend this hotel...

The generosity extended to the breakfast, with a large selection of cereals, yoghurts, local jams etc. One could order from a very comprehensive cooked breakfast menu, even including delicious fresh kippers which my wife enjoyed on two separate occasions. Plentiful supplies of coffee and toast were provided, with the friendly staff always ensuring we had enough of everything...
As to the location itself, Hensleigh House could hardly be better positioned for fossil hunting. Thoroughly recommend this hotel...
