We arrived early and nquired about an early check in {2 hours}. We were promptly told that was not an option and to come back at 3:00pm as that is check in time. So we came back at 3:00. We were told our room isn’t ready come back in 30 min. I expressed my displeasure as were told at 1:00 our room would be ready at 3:00! No one cared. So I waited the 30 minutes and inquired a third time if I could check in. I was told then itd be another 10-15 minutes. I asked why….check in is at 3:00. This is when then lady at the desk told me they don’t start cleaning tge rooms until 3:00 and check on us at 4:00! I said no, booked thru Expedia sbd that says 4:00 and the gentleman I spoke to at 1:00 told me to come back at 3:00! She tried to argue the point and I asked for a manager. While I was waiting to speak to a manager my room miraculously became available!!!! Amazingly enough the next morning we happened to be running a couple minutes late the front desk called st 11:03! Seems check out time is strictly enforced but check in time is a moving Target. We won’t be back and will tell friends that are planning a trip to the area to steer clear of Silver Dart Lodge.

Our frustration was an underwhelming breakfast buffet, no ala carte offered. The dining room was closed the night we checked in at 4...not open at all neither was the bar. Because they had an on site hotel was one of the reasons we chose it. They do have bus groups come on perhaps its just simpler for them that way. We found great restaurants in town as well as the Inverrary resort. The staff were super nice. Our room very clean.

An older style motel. Could use some upgrading. Staff were very friendly. Bed was relatively comfortable. Has an onsite restaurant with good food. Parking is right outside your room. Also has laundry facilities which is great when travelling with carry on luggage.

Now I know what Silver Dart means after visiting the Alexander Graham Bell museum. The location of the lodge was excellent. We used the laundry room which was very helpful. The restaurant was excellent except that when we went in the second evening for supper they were serving a convention group and there was loud music/drums that night until late. The more important downside was that in the section we stayed in there were dehumidiers in the hallway and it was musty in the bedrooms. I think it triggered my allergies to be worse then it needed to be in spring.

The property was in a good location, just a short drive out of town. When the skies are clear it has a beautiful view.

Some of the room was old and chipped, but nothing that made it that we didn't want to stay there. We did find some peanuts under one of the chairs that were not cleaned from before but asides from that the room was clean.

Our room looked over the lake and was perfect. The beds were comfortable, the chairs were too. The staff was especially helpful and friendly. Our meal in the lodge was delicious. Highly recommend!

Nice lodge style hotel a short walk from the centre of town.

We stayed 2 nights. We didn't have breakfast the first morning as we ate in town. We then intended to have breakfast on second day but on arrival at the restaurant we were told it was closed. There was no pre-warning of this. It wasn't a problem as we simply ate in town again, and the staff were apologetic and helpful.

All in all though, a good stay.

The food in the restaurant was good, but the menu was a bit limited. Additional options would have been appreciated.

No daily room care has become common since COVID, but for a three night stay, no service seemed too unconcerned. Although told that if we needed anything, all we had to do was call, but typically, most people won’t ask unless desperate.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Great location overlooking the water. Only a few minor issues, rooms could use an update but that being said the beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Also they only had Buffett breakfast available and for those of us who just need a bagel or something like that it, it seems like an unnecessary expense. I thought they had a-la-cart options but was told there was only the buffet.

The Lodge has a beautiful view of the water; you can't beat it. Had the weather been better, it would have been so nice to sit outside our room and take it all in. The room itself was a bit musty, but it was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was a bit disappointing. The shower head wasn't great, and there was only a window to air it out, and because it is higher up, it was hard to access. But the towels and the robes were really nice. The gym's equipment was either not working or in such bad shape that you couldn't use it.

We stayed here for two nights at the end of May 2026. The rooms were dated but very comfortable and large. We ate dinner at McCurdy’s one night and the food was fantastic. There are only two suggestions I would have number one the hotel should put power strips behind the entertainment unit to allow for the coffee maker laptops, iPhone power chargers to be plugged in. There were very few wall plugs in the room. Secondly, the Internet was the not great. My Canadian Rogers mobile phone would not work with their Internet and I ended up resorting to using my data plan. This hotel needs to upgrade their Internet by using boosters located closer to the rooms

This is a great place to stay to explore the Cabot trail area. We had a lake view room with a beautiful view. Rooms are clean although a little dated. The carpet could be replaced. The restaurant is good too but was only open for breakfast during our stay. We did not use any other amenities due to time of year.

The staff was excellent and very friendly. Unfortunately the rooms were tired. Our first room had a strong smell so we switched to a Chalet. It had some updates so it so it looked better than the motel room but there was a dank smell like stinky wet dog in this second one. Overall, although it looked relatively clean the smell and peeling paint on the bathroom door and old heater just made it feel dirty. Very disappointing. Also the restaurant was closed due for repairs.

Stayed here May 2026 for 2 nights. The wonderful views are the only positive about this property. Pictures online are very deceptive as the property is apparently under renovation and WOW does it need it. But no sign yet of any work being done. The room was very old and a little smelly. No microwave. The timber decks in the front and back actually looked dangerous with rotting boards. Both the bar and restaurant were closed. Was very expensive for what we got.

The room is clean and all information is provided. But i jooe next time there should be provided microwave in the room. Its too much hussle going to frontdesk just to heat up food and beverage. But thankful the staff at frontdesk was so helpful and assist us with patience heating our food we were thankfull for that service. Breakfast is good( putting egg in the bf line up will be better. We are happy in our stay good staff/service

We were here toward the end of the season, so many amenities were not available. However, our room looking out to the lake was good with fluffy towels and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was continental, but could have used maybe some yogurt. There were a lot of sweet choices, but not really any savory. I was glad for the cereal. Location was good. Hotel staff was friendly and definitely on the ball. We were called early on that our reserved room type was no longer available at the end of the season and would it be ok to move us to a different room. Then, day of check in, Expedia sent notice that our reservation was cancelled, BUT after calling Silver Dart Lodge to confirm, turned out that was not true at all. I appreciated then staff the most.

Would suggest that Expedia and property post also when amenities and services would be shutting down so travellers can make an informed choice. Was a bit disappointed restaurant was closed. Also wall was too thin . We were able to hear our neighbors having a good time. Front desk was able to accommodate and moved us to another room.

Room smelled moldy , electrical panel was falling down leading to lights going out a few times … and the worst of it was we found 4 small pills on the floor upon our arrival last night !!!
Luckily we found and retrieved all 4 , before our sheltie could eat them and possibly get very ill !!!

Inn is a bit dated but clean. Housekeeping on the third day but requests quickly granted. Good location on the island. Would be helpful to paint some reflective lines near the entrance driveway to help unfamiliar visitors find it in the dark. Really nice little wooded walking path that connects to longer Baddeck multiuser trail. Breakfast buffet ok but not great.

The location is very picturesque, the grounds are well maintained, the facilities are good and relatively inexpensive but are showing their age. Our room was huge with a great view but lacked a few basics like: facial tissue (had to ask twice); counter space and places to hang things in the bathroom; and there was no security lock on the door to the ground level public deck. The housekeeping was poor: dirty walls by the sink, marks on the tub and when we arrived we had to clean off skid marks under the toilet seat where there shouldn't have been any!
