The room was nice and tidy, there were some cobwebs and dust in the room, however it was the offseason! The parking was right up by the door and really convenient. The staff were also very kind. No breakfast during the winter.

From check in to check out I wish I had never booked a stay here. I understand it might be the off season, but I would still expect a certain level of standards to upheld.
At check in, I was treated with a semi-rude process. Confusion that I even had a reservation. Staff still expected me to pay, even though I had already prepaid through Expedia.
Once in the room, I was even more disappointed. I had to kill a couple bugs; and more returned every evening and morning. This is the middle of winter…where are they coming from???
The room was dirty, didn’t look cleaned. There wasn’t any toilet paper on the dispenser, and only a partial roll on the back of the toilet. The TV is quite small and outdated. Nothing is updated about this place. I have attached plenty of pictures. Any pictures I saw when booking don’t even come close to replicating my experience.
The front door doesn’t seal to the building frame. Curtains don’t close properly. And the heating/cooling unit runs nonstop.
Housekeeping services were never offered. I had to go request more toilet paper. I left garbage outside the door and it finally was taken on day 2.
I would never stay at this establishment if it was the only place with a room. I’d sleep in my car!!

This hotel room was borderline poor. The room lacked a welcome mat to wipe soiled winter boots at the entryway. The bathroom was basic, with the bare minimums and lacked shampoo. The towels were rough and thin. One of the mattresses was comfortable to sleep on while the other was at the end of its life and needs replacing. There is a functional mini fridge availble along with a coffee machine.

A lovely location with lots of parking and wonderful breakfast.
The main house has the reception area and dinning room for breakfast. The big porch offers a seating area and would be wonderful to sit on when the weather is nice.
The rooms are a little dated, but clean.
The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a good selection of hot and cold items for breakfast. It is close to the Main Street where you have plenty of dinning option.

We had the loft. It was located on the rear of the main building with only having one small window, so it was dark. No view from the room. Headroom was also an issue ( I am 6’2””talk) due to low vaulted ceilings. Closet space and table and chair was difficult to use due to low vaulted ceiling.

We booked our stay at Ceilidh Country Lodge because of its close proximity to the Cabot Trail. We were a party of 4 booking 2 rooms. The rooms were terrible, bathrooms in particular. The toilets were round basin, lowest possible height that can be obtained. Sink in our room were in terrible need of replacement, enamel was scrtched like someone used steel wool on it, our other guests said the same of theirs, along with hair stuck in the radiator. The toilets were way overdue for replacement. The toilet seat looked like it was never cleaned but it was because the material was deteriorating to a point it should have been replaced years ago. We didn't dare to use the shower as that sghould have been replaced a long time ago. The 2nd floor railing around our building's deck was far beyond a paint job. I only have to wonder how long before someone goes through the railing with wood rot around window frames, balcony posts and doors. A lot of it is esthetics but a good majority is also a safety concern. Property is also in great need of a paint and wood replacement as we seen lots of rotting wood all around in traffic areas. We were in the front building so not aware of the condition of the back building. We were all disgusted in the condition of the property and disappointed the description didn't tell us what to expect. Personally I gave it 2 stars, but probably deserved only 1 star but the continental breakfast was actually quite good. Cleaning was mediocre.

This was a decent stay. Good bed and shower, and the room was quiet

But, the layout of the room is just odd. The TV is in a large cabinet with doors, but the doors don’t open very far, so you have to be on the bed to see the TV. And, you can’t pull the TV out on the tray because the cables aren’t long enough.

Also, the small table doesn’t function well as a desk, and you can’t work and watch TV (see previous item).

The heat uses an old fashion knob type thermostat that was unpredictable and way off the markings. I wound up turning it off and dealing with a chilly room.

The interior seems to have been updated recently, but the exterior is in need of some major TLC.

Would I stay here again? I’m not sure. It got the job done, but there were to many odd things.

Spent 2 nights here. The room, King bed, was clean but quite dated. Breakfast was not special. It was tough to get the toast toasted. In one corner of the dinning room there was quite a draft.
The property was convenient, and a easy walk into the town.
The view from the prperty is good and the grounds were well maintained.

Check in was easy and smooth but from there it went down hill fast. Doors to the room don’t seal. Very old carpet. Bathroom toilet was running. Bathroom was very dirty and caulking everywhere had let go. 2 pillows peer bed and where very flat and uncomfortable. Tx was fuzzy on every channel. When it came time for breakfast it was horrible. We poured some glasses of very watered down orange juice and there was stuff all floating in it. There was zero options for a healthy food. Just cereal,breads eggs and bacon. Then watched a staff member used a handheld broom to clean a mess on the floor and then used it on the table where all the food was located. Was a terrible experience and the price didn’t reflect the quality of accommodation.

The Ceilidh Lodge was just what we needed for our 2 day getaway to see the Autumn colours on the Cabot Trail
Conveniently located close to dining and shops in Baddeck- owners very welcoming and accommodating as we had a small dog. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, good food and very well set up to serve yourself. Staff very professional and nice calming music played at breakfast

In this day and age you think you would get more that a few channels and no sports . Firstly the fron test said there was sports channels .. when the young man came to fix said no .

We stayed in a very large room at Ceilidh Country Lodge. King bed was very comfortable. Room however was old and run down and needs TLC. When had quite a lot of wasps and bugs around windows as well. View off deck was lovely. Breakfast was nothing special. Very very basic buffet. Not quite what expected for an Inn. We unfortunately wouldn’t book again here.

check in procedure was very poor. Made to feel like we were inconvenience. We were party of 4 and advised a bus load was checkin in later and took priority. At checkin he said dont come for breakfast early as he needed to tend to bus load who were eating at 7-8am. When we went for breakfast it was cold and clearly a leftover situation. Manager1owner has only been in hospitality a short time and it showed. Far for the warm loving friendly Cape Breton welcome

We stayed for 3 nights & the lodge did provide a continental breakfast. However , can't give the breakfast anything more than poor to average. There was no variation in the selection whatsover. Bacon was undercooked & greasy. Scrambled eggs were always cold. No fresh fruit, yogurt or muffins was provided however coffee was fresh & hot. The main lodge itself is fairly well maintained but the rooms in the Skye Lodge are in very poor condition. All the wooden furniture in the two rooms we had very very, very worn. Screen door was had a broken off kick panel, curtains were missing hooks, bathroom exhaust fan broken, no plug for bathroom sink,toilet handle constantly sticking, etc. I could go on & on but the bottom line is unless the owners put some serious money into repairs & renovations, I cannot recommend it more than a one night stay & definitely no repeat visits. The only saving grace was the location to the town of Baddeck was excellent.

We used this stay to get an early start on the Cabot Trail. It was very convenient as it is super close to town. There is no EV charging on site - our only inconvenience. Breakfast was workable. Bed a bit uncomfortable. Walls very thin and could hear neighbours. Overall it worked for what we needed

The room had rusty lamps with torn shades, old doors that don't seal, scrapes on the wall, the TV was dysfunctional in that the image distorted. Furniture tired and worn.
The door hinge was coming off, and there was a visible gap around it.
The breakfast was powdered egg and weird sausage rounds. We only had it once. The wholewheat bread was OK.
I would never stay here again. How it was rated at 4.3 out of 5, is beyond belief!!

The front desk person interrupted our check in process with a lengthy phone call. Another staffer sat a desk could have assisted. Our room was in a motel section of the property and referred to as a house and not a lodge as advertised. Upon entering the room the air conditioner was on full speed at the coldest temperature. The day was cool and rainy. The room was arctic! We went to bed early to stay warm with sweat pants, fleece and long sleeve tshirts. The room was warm by 1:30 am. The baseboard heater in the bathroom was not functional. The toilet was freezing, the floor was freezing, unpleasant all around. The breakfast was gross. Cold microwaved frozen egg patties and sausage rounds was the ‘hot’ options. Chemical laden processed food. Otherwise it was bread options and two cold cereals or packaged oatmeal. Water downed orange juice and watery coffee. Cheaping out! There was no kitchen in the eating area.

This hotel is situated well off the road and has a large grassy area at the front. It is quite attractive looking. The beds were very comfortable although the room is tired and could use an update.
The continental breakfast was well supplied with lots to choose from.
There are a number of nearby places for dinner.
We drove into Baddick and thought it was a very pretty town.

It’s an ok place to stay in terms of being in walking distance to town. The property itself is lovely with nice Muskoka chairs to sit in. The rooms are pretty basic but very outdated. The beds were comfy at least. There is zero counter space in the washrooms. The breakfast is pathetic.. First of all not enough seating for the amount of guests, second the choices were some egg patty and meat patty creation., not sure there was real food in either of those .. bread and English muffins .. all served on disposable plates, cutlery .. somewhat shocking in a world where we should be environmentally conscious !! We only ate breakfast one of the three days we were there!! There is cute coffee shop in town that has delicious food options!!

The lodge is situated on a beautiful piece of property overlooking Bras D'Or lake which is conveniently located within walking distance to the center of town. However, the room was tired with a musty smell. The continental breakfast is very basic but plentiful. There is an opportunity to wow guests with a bit of updating and an emphasis on customer service.

The room I stayed in was terribly outdated. I was made aware, after asking for a refund for the second night, they are in the process of updating some of the buildings. Perhaps, this should be included in the advertisement so that perspective clients would know if they choose this property what to expect.

I asked the individual at the front desk for a refund, I booked another accommodation for my second night, I was told I could not receive a refund from the lodge, I had to ask Expedia for a refund, This did not make sense to me because I paid the lodge directly.

Thankfully, when I called Expedia, the situation was rectified and I received my refund from the lodge.

This, for me is not an establishment I will book with again.

We found 8 spiders in the first 15 minutes. Cobwebs everywhere. The sheets were filthy. We called the front desk and they sent 2 staff to look for more spiders (no more were found) and they did change the sheets with clean sheets.

The following morning told manager and response was “previous guest had no complaints” without any acknowledgement of our experience.

The photos are of the main building and not reflective of the rest of the property. Wouldn’t stay again.

The property has potential, but the lack of cleanliness and lack of apology or really any attempt at customer service was concerning. The colleagues who came to the room to search for additional spiders, and change the sheets, were friendly enough, but the manager who checked us in and out lacked warmth or concern.
