STAY HERE!!!! I cannot say enough amazing things! The room was beautiful and the location was fabulous! But what really set this hotel above all was the INCREDIBLE STAFF!!!! Their kindness and thoroughness was beyond belief. From planning perfect day trips to amazing meals and even helping with some unexpected incidents, they were amazing! They even memorized my daily morning coffee order!

We got got the garden view villa. It is nice but not as big and spacious as the pool view. We had trouble accessing the Wi-Fi in our room even though it worked fine anyplace around the hotel , also because we got the garden view we were not entitled to any benefits such as getting 15% discount on ordering food and beverage at the pool and also we got to pay extra to get room service in our room even though our friends in the pool view villas didn’t have to. They charged us when we used the mini bar in our room , so apparently the garden view rooms don’t have the same treatment and amenities as the pool view ones

Great hotel, easy to get around Ubud from Kamadalu using Grab bikes and rides. Staff were great, excellent service. Nice and quiet when we went. There were lots of bugs around, as expected for this region.

I would highly recommend Kamandalu. I stayed here 14 years ago & was so impressed that I purposely chose to come back. The staff are top notch...so attentive to your every need & it shows in all the details. Our villa was like a little bit of paradise in this tropical setting. The restaurant on site was wonderful & offered delicious choices with attentive staff. Our room featured
a deluxe bathroom complete with an indoor shower and an outdoor shower with a separate tub. We had our own outdoor daybed on a private patio. The view over the thatched roofs was delightful! I don't travel to this part of the world often, but Kamandalu would be my choice everytime! Just top notch!

This resort was beautiful. I just think that the services offered at the resort was a bit overpriced compared to other resorts in Bali offering the same service. I loved the property and the staff was very helpful. I enjoyed my stay and just recommend that they review pricing for services offered. I highly recommend, it's very clean and very comfortable. Staff at breakfast went out their way to make sure I was happy and didn't need anything. I do think they could offer more options for breakfast though.

There is only one shower for two rooms the second shower was outdoor. We requested to change the room but they said no room was available but the hotel was pretty much empty. Staff came in to spray for mosquitoes while we were at dinner. When we came back my husband discovered that his short on the bed got stolen. After we left Bali, I checked my money pouch that I left in the safe box, the money was gone but our passports were still there. I lost all my cash. It was my fault for not checking before leaving. I didn’t think staff member would open the safe box to steal cash. I guess I was so wrong. Lesson learned for me.

Was looking forward to this stay for over 5 years! Totally devastated by the reality. Don’t be fooled like I was by the lovely instagram posts! The hotel is very tired and none of the selling points are even open! 2/3 of the hotel is closed and under renovation and the remaining 1/3 is very worn and tired. The lagoon and the Forrest swing were both closed as part of the renovation. I wasn’t made aware of this at the time of booking!
Pool was cold and pretty dirty. The pool ladder was basically falling off, felt like it might go every time I got in and out the pool and I’m very light. Staff felt like they weren’t that interested. They don’t even bother to put pool towels or cushions out, we had to ask. Reception staff were lovely but it definitely wasn’t a 5 star experience. It should be closed for the renovation! It felt like it was running on bare minimum.
Very bad accessibility for those with children or disabilities. Lots of stairs, no lifts!
About the only thing going for it was the location! Very disappointed indeed! A warning to look elsewhere!!

Beautiful ground with friendly staffs. The property is very clean and the surrounding is tranquility with the view. food is really good for breakfast and dinner. We like staying at our bungalow with private pool and out door cabana with daybed. Complimentary drinks and canapés in the evening. Free yoga in the morning on the canyon above the river. I would definitely stay there again. If you need a place to relax and unwind, this is the place. It’s not far from the village center of Ubud.

The stay was excellent, although there are two points I would raise to the hotel management to make our stay better. The front desk wouldn’t book outside taxis for is, which would be usual in other hotels and the room was checked while we were still packing and before the checkout time, this would be done when the guests are checking out not when they are in the room, was quite awkward. Thanks, these are small points but can help the hotel be better.

The property itself was very lush and green. It is beautiful to walk around. The pool suite was wonderful. We liked the pool and the inside of the suite itself quite a lot. The staff is helpful and kind. However- this place is in desperate need of an upgrade and facility renovations. What you see on Instagram is not reality. The overall aesthetic is lacking the taste level is questionable and the cliental is low budget.

This is the worst hotel experience i have ever had. We booked a villa which provided afternoon tea. And my husband and I had it but my parents didn’t. We both GOT FOOD POSITIONING. we ate ceviche and juice there. We pretty sure it’s the food there gave us food positioning because my husband didn’t eat anything afterwards. And we both still got the same symptoms such as diarrhea, vomit and chill etc.
I told the staff there and they just kept saying it’s not their food problem. They even kept saying it’s the food we ate outside were not clean. But we kept telling them the same story that the food we ate outside was at a cooking class and no one had problem.
Turn out, we didn’t get any response and they just left at the check out. I DEFINITELY DONT RECOMMEND TO STAY HERE. Because the food here is not clean.

The best thing of this hotel is the landscape. Check in was bit slow. They offered welcome drink with a wet wipe! For a five star hotel a cold towel should be provided. The lobby was hot...No fans. Room was spacious and nicely designed. The bed is nice but the floor is broken. The sliding window doesn't close well and there is a space where insects and lizards can come inside. The bathroom is big but in need of immediate renovation. The outdoor shower is nice.
The property needed more care. So many places are abandoned and it's hard to find the staff when you need help for direction. Most of the staff's English is poor....Although they are kind and trying their best to help when you ask them but they look over tired. They look trainees not professional.
The main pool area is ok but the food took ages to arrive. The infinity pool was cold and the floating breakfast was generous.
The staff at the Indonesian restaurant were kind but need more training.
No daily programs or anything you expect from a 5 star hotel.
This hotel should be 3 star NOT 5. For the room price I paid I expected much much more from this hotel.
Sorry...I will find other place to stay in if I visit Ubud in the future.
The best thing was the massage at the jungle with the swing.

My husband and I stayed in Kamandalu's Chalet room. The room was beautiful and well-kept. The cleaning crew was excellent! They cleaned our room in the morning and prepped our room at night (let the mosquito drapes down).

They offered the best breakfast buffet we've ever had. They had a large variety and always kept the food fresh.

The morning free yoga is a must! Aside from the beautiful scenery, each instructor provided a little peace and magic to our day.

I love how the resort offered many relaxation spots, from hanging swings in the spa's quiet area to picture-perfect lounge areas.

Keep in mind that this resort is slightly far from Ubud's art center, which is perfect for a relaxing time but not so much for exploring Ubud. They did offer free shuttles throughout the day to the Art Center, which worked perfectly for us.

One notable thing we noticed is that many of the resort's guests were repeat guests. This demonstrated the resort's commitment to quality customer service and property care.

This is one on the best hotels I have been with my family ever.
The concept, villas within a Balinese town make it beautiful.
The hotel staff is very very nice and polite. They are always looking to make your stay as much pleasant as posible, and there ara a lot of small details along your any that will make you fill more and more comfortable.
If you like yoga, I hardy recommend y the to visit the Yoga pavilion early in the morning it is just magic.

A little outside from downtown ubud but they have a complimentary shuttle service that gets you downtown. Great place to stay in ubud.

This was the best service I’ve ever experienced at a hotel. My husband and I became sick during our stay and the staff went above and beyond taking us to the hospital, translating communication with doctors, driving us when and where we needed, brought us water/food to feel better. I could not be happier with our experience. We needed up cancelling the accommodations we had booked later in our trip to stay here longer because we felt so comfortable and well taken care of here.

One of the most stunning hotels I’ve ever stayed at! Gorgeous forest views, rooms that were spacious and spotless, and delicious complimentary breakfast with an excellent variety of options. We loved the outdoor rainforest showers, the infinity pool, and the forest swing. Also enjoyed a massage and flower bath at the spa. The staff everywhere are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to provide impeccable service. Important to note - this is not an accessible resort, there are steep stone stairs everywhere. A perfect option for a romantic getaway or a unique family trip. The hotel also has a shuttle to and from town and Ubud is definitely worth exploring. If you’re tired of beach resorts, definitely check this place out!

Overall the check in process is superb. The concierge staff and room are nice. However, the food department may need some improvement. I was rudely told that my wife should not wear the \"Kimono\" to the café. Maybe should there a message or card to be displayed in the wardrobe. Also, I can't really use the pool after 6pm because the reptiles are everywhere when sun goes down, e.g frogs, lizards.. not only 1 or 2, but numbers of them. Surrounding is quiet.

We ended up leaving after the first night, sadly it just wasn’t up to our standards or expectations. Needs to be updated. Had a Mildew scent in the room when we walked in. Spider webs in corners of the room, moss all over the stones. It just had a wet feel in the room at all times. The bedding was extremely old and worn. Food was ok. I asked for a lychee passion fruit mojito and upon receiving it it literally had like 2 mint leaves and tasted nothing like what it’s called. Come to find out it’s made with syrup and not real fruit!?!? Like we’re in Bali!!! Why are they using syrup and not real fruit. Definitely wasn’t 5 star. The service was good tho.

I did the arranged cycling through the paddy fields which was a highlight of my trip to Bali. I wouldn't hesitate to return to this hotel. Absolutely gorgeous!

Amazing thatch roofed villas & flora around the property with outdoor bed and washroom in addition adding to the bucolic charm.
(It would have been nice to have a guide on the local flora)
We enjoyed the breakfast because of the view and service but the food quality and choices could do with some improvements, although they tried to keep slightly different menus on the days.
Cycling trip was really worth it since they take the bikes and transport you to higher ground so it is easier for the non cyclists to enjoy the trip. Having said that they could invest in newer local Polygon bikes.
More flexibility on check out times with night flights and rainy days would have helped.

My word can’t describe how amazing our stay was.. from the best service ever. Such nice peoples there!
They first upgraded us to the house suite. Amazing honeymoon decoration with the cutest flowers which are all over there.
The vibe is so relaxing and to me the sound of the jungle is the most peaceful. I didn’t know until now. The place is spotless! Beautiful ! I have no word such an amazing place. Rice patties spa, nice location by all the stone and wood craver and all handmade cute things. Not far from the Ubud art market such is also a cool place. Lord of good restaurant, nice temple kind of architecture and shopping.
If you re honeymooners and want a chill nice place not too de from all activities this is your spot!

The property was beautiful however we were disappointed to learn that a lot of things were “add ons”. Typically at a 5 star hotel, most amenities are included outside of food, but this wasn’t the case at Kamandalu. The whole experience seemed very contrived and it evolved around Instagram pictures. Most images shown in the website are add-ons that you have to pay for. For example, we weren’t allowed to access the swing unless you paid for a spa service and you had to pay to in sit in certain spots for dinner which was bizarre. A lot of guests were clearly there to solely take pictures and it wasn’t a place that was very relaxing. We had just stayed at another 5 star hotel in Changgu and the quality at Kamandalu across service, staff and the venue itself was not comparable.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and had such a great time. The property is so wonderful and our garden pool villa was amazing. I loved that they had yoga every morning for the guests and they have a free shuttle that takes you down to the city center when you want to do exploring. The food was really good at the property and all of the staff was so nice. I would highly recommend this property.

Absolutely great atmosphere all around the hotel.
We stayed in a garden view villa but still had a beautiful treeline view across the valley. The best part of the room was the outside sofa bed.
There is 2 pools in the facility for common use; 1.beautiful infinity pool facing the valley. 2. mid size general pool with a bar in it. (The ship nose pools that you see in the instagram posts are private grand villas, not for common use. Also the swing you see in the instagram posts is only accessible if you get a spa treatment.
Breakfast is good but it felt like it should be better for a resort like this.
They have shuttle service to Ubud center with convinient times. You can easily reach the city center for great restaurants and cafes.
Overall it was a memorable experience. Definetly recommend it.

The staff at this location were all friendly, kind, and helpful. I loved the overall decor and the room itself was beautiful - the pool area was gorgeous.

The drivers were amazing. In particular, I enjoyed Ezha. He truly delivered a first class experience and was my favoruite driver. Ezha went out of his way to take me on tours and he never made me feel rushed. He even stayed a few extra hours to allow me to find my tour and he was very patient and took all my photos for me. I felt very safe while in his company.

Also, I had the best massage of my life here. I can't recall which spa I went to or the lady's name, but the experience was nothing short of the best. I am still thinking about and bragging to others about the massage I received.

The only thing I didn't like was that the hotel didn't offer many vegan options, particularly at breakfast. The only thing I could really eat was fruit and some juices. For the money you spent you want to eat just as good as the other customers. I would say that the chef went out his way to make me something vegan, however I had to ask and explain options he could make for me. Having already made vegan not just vegetarian options would increase the experience and make vegans feel comfortable.

The setting is unique' with rice fields and waters running in Kamandalu. The rooms are very big and beautifully decorated. Feels very private and relaxing. The morning complimentary yoga was excellent, But what enchanted and captivated us was how welcoming the staff was. We have travelled extensively around the world and had never before experienced this level of hospitality.

Spa service is excellent. Morning Yoga courses are great.

They can invest more in mosquito nets. There are many holes in the bed even with the nets closed. Also it would have been great sit at outdoor bed only if there were mosquito nets.

The hotel looked better in pictures!

Everyone was super attentive at the hotel, we couldn't thank you enough. Location was great as well, 10/15 minutes drive from the hotel to Ubud town or a 40 minutes walk - very doable.

However, the facilities in our room were very dated. The bathroom basin and toilet were really slow in draining, which I couldn't help to imagine what is being stuck to have caused the blockage...! We had an outdoor shower which seemed like a great idea until it rained. The curtains were not blackout and they do not shut entirely meaning the light woke us up very early every morning. There are two pools in the hotel, the smaller one had a great view but only four loungers which was totally inadequate.

Great resort in Ubud

Hotel surroundings is stunning! If you stay in one of the villas, there is a villa VIP club with free drinks and snacks which you can hang out. Staffs are very nice and room service is always fast. One small comment is that the water pressure in the villa indoor bathtub is not high enough, very little water coming from the shower head. Better try the outdoor shower under the starry sky!

The switch in my bedside lamp was broken. There was a small hole in the mosquito netting. The paint in the shower could use a refresh. Nine if this was a major distraction for me. The facilities overall were stunning and well maintained.

Picky Traveler gives Kamandalu Full Marks

I’ve been to Bali 6 times and have stayed 3 times at Kamandalu. Will always go back.

Firstly from a design standpoint it’s incredibly well- thought out, and executed. Stunning. The food is tops ALWAYS and the morning buffet is so worth the stay. The villas are spacious comfy and what a visitor would expect from an exotic Balinese get-away.

Yoga in the am with knowledable and friendly instructors included free of charge is fabulous.
and the grounds are immaculate throughout the entire ‘compound’.

The staff are all so friendly and accommodating. We usually have a midnight flight out to Tokyo and they allow us to use a vacant room if available to shower and swim after checkout throughout the day.Much appreciated.

The location of Kamandalu is a favorite of mine. It’s a power spot above a valley
- the energy is undeniable.

And finally the VALUE FOR MONEY. You pay for 5 Stars and get 6+!! It’s so worth it. Small details like hand-written notes left on the bed appreciating return visitors etc. is a welcome touch.

Will always return to Kamandalu!

Amazing stay in Ubud.

We just loved this hotel. Really relaxing environment, friendly staff, beautiful infinity pool. We had a problem with our room and they quickly granted us an upgrade to a villa, which was a plus. I loved the outside shower, makes perfectly sense in Bali. It's not close to the city center, but they have a free shuttle service that works just fine. We definitely recommend this hotel!

This is a beautiful place , staffed by incredibly wonderful & genuine people. It’s been a long time since we were in Bali & we are disappointed to see a far more western Bali. Gone is the Balinese music in our resort except maybe for concerts or in temples. Maybe the resorts should address this. We come to Bali as much for a spiritual experience, which is increasingly difficult to find.

Wow oh wow is how I would describe this property, it exceeded my expectations, the property was just incredibly beautiful. My boyfriend is the type of person that likes to go out and explore when we travel, this is the first hotel that he asked for us to stay in the entire time so we can just enjoy the property. We signed up for the floating lunch in the infinity pool, got massages so we can have pictures taken on their swing which wasn’t high at all but great for photos. Our villa blew us away and we didn’t even book a suite, too notched luxury, we just live this property so much. I’ll come back and book a much longer stay here, loved it!

For a serene rest away from all.

Friendly staff. The forest spa was surreal. I fell asleep during the massage. Sound of birds, a running stream, bugs... it was so relaxing.
I enjoyed the stay immensely. If you want to stay away from the busy everyday life, like me, this is a perfect getaway. (WiFi is very slow. But you’re here to stay away from busy life anyway. )
