Beautiful old monastery. Great place. The town of Haro had a dark vibe to us.
For the hotel we had two bad surprises - Internet not working and despite what the website says there is no gym off site one can use (apparently that was many years ago)

The building was amazing, an old convent converted with a glass roof in the main hotel area. Large rooms with comfortable beds and plenty of storage. The staff were helpful and friendly.

What we didnt like
The hotel is historical but dated
Our room looked like something from the 70's. Part of the carpet was threadbare, no tea making facilities, shower needed updating. The room has one very small bin in the bathroom with nothing in the bedroom.
The breakfast was ok but not worth Euros 15 each.
The hotel could be amazing with some updating

Do not stay here, unless they renovate rooms

The hotel has become extremely run down in recent years. Their ACs work poorly. We had to switch rooms 3 times due to the awful conditions of the rooms and particularly the very old red carpet flooring, that was ripped in numerous places. Horrible smell in the rooms. Also, they never offered a refund of any type to accommodate us for our discomfort. I was extremely disappointed with the entire experience. The staff however, was very nice and tried to fix the hotel’s numerous failures.

Fablous bhstoric building but tired

An incrddible beautiful old building with great history. However it is tired and very dated, tables in lounge frayed, paint coming off bedroom doors etc.
It needs refurb, The dining area is hidden behind large meter+ square plant pots, not very romantic in such a building. Dining service was aweful but food good. The receptionist guy was incredibly helpful and even went out on the street to find parking for us. We have stayed there before but will not be back …

Fantastic, historic building.

Absolutely beautiful building. We enjoyed the ambience and swing-jazz music playing softly in the glass-ceilinged courtyard. We appreciated having two armchairs and a coffee table.
It is a shame that the housekeeping team were unable to remove or mask the unpleasant smell in our room. It seemed to come from the basin in the bathroom but permeated into the bedroom.

Good to know this place was renovated from an 700 years old church, but also because of this, it was some kind of outdated. The air conditioning was not good, couldn’t adjust and it was not cooling properly. The good thing is they offer free breakfast which has full collection of great food. Staff are nice and friendly, location is also good.

Very nice hotel in convenient location to wineries and places to eat. Great breakfast selection. Hotel car park is very sketchy, don't go alone. The air conditioning in our room was feeble but the mattress (while very comfortable) was one of the kind that make you super hot so we had to have the window open on a very noisy street.

It’s an interesting converted monastery, had an ambience which is special. All is very dated though, floor tiles falling apart, old all round. Especially difficult is poor A/C, it’s so hot all the time, everywhere, no where to escape from the heat!

Long on Charm, Short on Quality Service

Los Agustinos is a spectacular place constructed from ancient hand-hewn stone. Truly remarkable.
However, I am tired of places that rely on charm and are short on service. Sullen management can barely be bothered to respond until forced to. Attitude flows down to front desk staff. Cleaning staff/young femail wait staff do their best, kitchen mgt and male staff, not so much. They get by on the beauty of the place, not their effort.

Oh my, where to start.
A beautiful building filled with tired mismatched faux leather 1970’s furniture.
Looks like they have been to house clearance auctions.

Bathrooms clean but very tired

Whole building is stiflingly hot, even though it was 15 outside. Aircon made a loud clunking noise every 10 mins.

Breakfast was the poorest offering I’ve ever seen, really grim. We went to the hotel opposite which had a nice bar and restaurant instead.

Overall this was a beautiful property but needs work on the humid and musty smell in the rooms as well as the air conditioners in the rooms. I guess since it was cold only hot air was blowing. Left windows open in the evenings which also helped with the stench.
The staff was very nice. Fernando, the bartender, was outstanding as was the lady keeping up with breakfast.

The room was extremely dated and tired. We found crisps on the bathroom floor and mould in the bath. The room/bathroom absolutely stunk of sewage. The air conditioning was somewhat temperamental. Mini bar was leaking too. We sacrificed a night to stay somewhere, I think that says it all…

On a positive note, the food at the restaurant was delicious.

This is a beautifully converted convent in the old part of Haro just a block from the main square where there are many wonderful dining options. We loved our large room and the comfortable bed. We highly recommend Los Agustinos!

As I made the reservation the hotel said I'll have a big bed as it was the last night of our honey moon. We got to the room and it was two separate small beds, we ask if they could give us the room we payed for and they said they had ran out.
We picked our things up and were going to go to a hotel that could accommodate us on our honey moon, only then did the hotel \"magically\" have a room with a big bed available.

Stayed here previously but now it’s in badly need of updating rooms- smelt musty and looked tired Restaurant only open weekends-why? It is a 4 star hotel Unfortunately the beautiful courtyard area was off limits presumably because of Covid (this is the main reason to stay here) Good breakfast We will not be returning Overall very disappointed

Really good until the last day

Until the last day, this was an ideal stay. The hotel is in a wonderful old building, the rooms are reasonably sized and comfortable, the breakfast is really excellent, and the staff had been helpful. The town is interesting and very easy to get around. The last day was raining - hard - and we decided to go into the lovely covered central courtyard to play cards - which we had done several times already. (We are all over 68 - it's not like it was a rowdy get-together.) Out of the blue a staff member came up and basiclly threw us out of the space, and was incredibly rude to my wife when she tried to find out why it had been OK several times before and now it ws not. It really left a very unfortunate taste in our mouths to what had been a very enjoyable stay until then. If it had been acceptable before, why not then? If it hadn't been acceptable before, why weren't we told then? And why was the staff person so rude to us? We have been in Spain for 9 months now and this is the first time we have been treated in this manner. Maybe the woman was having a bad day, but it really cast a shadow over what had been a really pleasant and fun stay until then.

Beautiful hotel. Haro was the perfect base to explore La Rioja... and it was easy to walk to visit some local bodegas! Hotel Los Agustinos was clean and very comfortable. Our room was a good size with huge shuttered windows. All the staff we encountered were helpful. We did not eat at the restaurant in the hotel but walked out into Haro to a number of places very close by. The hotel lounge in the main atrium is a fantastic place for a glass of something before heading out!!

Reception staff was not very friendly. Room was nice and hotel was well located; it is a great place to walk around. The hotel bar/ restaurant was good with excellent service. The two female bartenders were sweet and educated us about the local wines. I didn't like feeling \"nickle and dimed\" for hotel ammenities. Parking was expensive but we luckily arrived Sat evening so paid for a couple hours of street parking and it was free on Sunday. Haro is a beautiful, old wine town with enough charm to bring in some tourism but remains authentic.

Interesting hotel in the heart of the town

Hotel is lovely with loads of history, the rooms are traditional and we found them very comfortable. The staff however on our arrival were very unhelpful. All we asked was if there was any wine tasting locallly. To be told it’s a 15 min walk, no directions, no map, nothing! We booked the restaurant in the evening and went to the bar for a drink, no one there. The man on reception could see us waiting, ignored us, the walked past us to a room out the back, we waited some 15 mins for a drink!

Hotel in a good location for us visiting during Festival week. Friendly staff. Room spacious and comfortable, tea and coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice especially as we waited almost 30 minute to be served a cup of coffee in the lounge area. Lovely use of an old building but found the lack of outside space quite restrictive and preferred to eat elsewhere very locally on an outside terrace. WiFi was reliable.

Good hotel let down by poor customer service

The hotel is in a very interesting historic building and rooms are spacious and well-appointed. However, the lack of coffee and tea making facilities were unexpected and the lack of the advertised WiFi was a real disappointment and inconvenience. The bar was staffed by a lovely lady who was friendly and helpful. She even came out of her area to show us how a very old bench/table worked and had an obvious pride in and knowledge of her surroundings. Unfortunately the same was not true of the staff on reception. At check in there was no smile and minimal interaction, and later when asking questions about the town very terse responses were given with no elucidation or supplementary information.
This could be a lovely hotel with better customer service.

We loved our stay at Hotel Los Agustinos. The monastery, built in 1373, has been carefully restored, has lots of character, and is in a great location from which to explore Haro. The rooms are a little bit spartan in decor, but the beds were very comfortable.

Had a fantastic stay, with a beautiful room which was comfortable but the only complaint was that the room was a little dusty which had my partner coughing and upset his sleep. Food was delicious and the surroundings were beautiful.

Great hotel but awful beds

We stayed here as a couple, with our adult son. It is a lovely hotel and it was great that we could have 3 of us in the room, albeit that it meant having 3 singles instead of a Queen and a single bed.

The centre area of the hotel is magnificent for a drink and it is convnient to the square of Hora

However, the beds were awful. Very soft spongy matresses that meant none of us slept very well.
