Our room has not been upgraded for some time. Lighting is marginal, and quirky. It badly needs a dresser for clothes, only one drawer for the two of us. The shower pressure is excellent, but the shower head keeps moving up splashing the floor.

Very comfortable room in stylish setting, in charming town with apparently the largest proportion of bodegas per capita in the world! Sadly staying only one night we only managed a tasting in one, give yourself more time.

Hotel was trying to be a little too cool for itself. Staff were friendly, but overall quality of food and drink were not good. We were charged 95 Euros for shared bowl of pasta (starter) and 2 roast lamb dishes (told was the special but no prices so a shock to get the bill in the morning) the food was really poor (my husband was served a roasted lamb trotter, the salad was doused in vinegar and the potato mash was like yellow custard).
We didn't stay for breakfast due to a separate issue (which the hotel resolved very promptly so is not a complaint).
If you want to stay just for the pictures, no problem, the village is really pretty (recommend do not stay when they have their festivals on as it's extremely loud, unless you like having no sleep) but for us there are better places within the wine region which isnt trying too hard to be something it can't pull off.
We didn't stay for breakfast due to a separate issue (which the hotel resolved very promptly so is not a complaint).

First of all it’s down a little tiny track next to an industrial building at the back of a village, it’s flanked by crappy buildings and not some of idyllic scene in the middle of Rioja.
Check in was pleasant. Room upgrade as a gold member was nice- thank you. Has explained it was my birthday and our wedding anniversary but no special touches.
Room was ok- if you want a concrete box with a mattress of similar substance this is the place for you.
Bar was closed but we were kindly offered a welcome drink (thank you).
Everything else on a Saturday was closed/ so we got a taxi with a FABULOUS driver called Martin who saved the day. Took us to where was open.
Wine bar opened later but despite trying very very oak wine. Not great service. Flat ambience.
Rooms uncomfortable with poor quality toiletries. Mattress was so hard.
Wouldn’t come back.
Also the roses are all dead. And it’s so noisy.

Excelente hotel ubicado en el pueblo Villabuena de Alba, que tiene el record mundial de más bodegas por habitante (350 habitantes y 43 bodegas). El diseño del hotel es moderno, su restaurtant maravilloso, el personal muy atento. Habitaciones cómodas y bien equipadas. Desde allí en coche alquilado se puede ir a visitar bodegas como Marques de Riscal, Muga, etc. En invierno cierran por un tiempo, porque es difícil llegar.

Recommend don’t stay in room 301 as noise from lift foyer does not allow a decent nights sleep - door has no sound insulation!

The hotel itself is stunning, the rooms very spacious with super comfortable beds. There was an interesting architectural exhibition on the hotel walls. The restaurant, unfortunately let the whole thing down greatly. Our food in the bistro was very mediocre in the evening with very disappointing wine selections (especially for the region). The breakfast was little better with probably the worst scrambled eggs I've ever been offered.
So my advice is: go for the lovely building and bed and find somewhere else to eat...the small touristy town of Lagusrdia is nearby and has lots of options, albeit in a 'Disneylsnd Rioja' setting.

The place had a great modern artistic vibe. The restaurant on site is nice but a bit expensive compared to spanish standards.
There is an outdoor community pool just next door that you can use for free which is nice to cool down when it is hot.

Stylish hotel in a small cosy village.
All experience was ruined by the staff. First, at dinner waiter tried to get the plate with unfinished food several times (we just took time to finish) and on the last attempt, he even did not ask us.
Then, on breakfast, everything was set up like a buffet, but staff barked at us do not to touch anything, as you have to ask and they will bring food to you. No signs or notices, how we should know?

The architecture is modern & minimalist, very cool and relaxing. Room was spacious and well appointed. Staff is A++ for service and friendliness. The restaurant was a gastronomic experience, which is well paced. I recommend for guests who are not in a rush and can enjoy. There’s also a bar/grill that’s great. The pool belongs to the municipality but is clean, not crowded, and practically on the hotel grounds. Lastly, the roof-top lounging area is fantastic.

The hotel have some issues such as water flooding outside of the bathroom, power sucker doesn’t work, and the safe was out of battery. Hotel staff resolved those issues, but it’s just not very pleasant to run into all the problems on vacation. Food was mediocre, and one of the waiter at the breakfast did not have good attitude, as if he just had a bad night.

Fourth timing staying at Viura over three years. The hotel is a gem set in a small, quiet village. There is really nothing available immediately within the village, but there are a ton of bodegas around Laguardia.
Unfortunately, some heavy smokers stayed the weekend prior to our arrival, and while smoking is prohibited, many of the rooms heavily smelled of smoke. Staff was understanding, and moved us three times until we found a room cleared. I also saw cleaning staff enter the rooms we identified as smokey.

First we had to drive twice through the village to find the hotel. It is good indicated from the main street, but a bit hidden in the center, as a valley crosses the village. Easy self parking and help with the luggage. The room is big with comfortable beds. Also special architecture design we liked. We also got a free Glass of wine in the attached wine shop / bar. There is also a wine tour through the village (starts 10:30 2-3 hours) offered that tells you about the history and wines of the region in 4 stops in a local winery. The small village holds 55 winemakers!
We also had dinner at the restaurant (reservation recommended). The food was very delicious, the staff was friendly but stressed. We had to wait for 50 min to place our order. At check out, the manager was sorry about our waiting time and made us a generous discount on the dinner.

Very disappointed with this stay. We were excited about this hotel and I experienced highly sexist, impolite, and unprofessional behavior from staff. It left both my husband and I feeling very concerned and upset. Certain male staff literally ignored me during an expensive wine/food pairing event. The service was also very rushed and disorganized. I was served 2 dishes with nuts and I was clear in advance about my allergy. A man who appeared to be managing staff poured wine for everyone around me (including my husband) and ignored me, continually. Servers hardly acknowledged us. It was humiliating and nothing I've ever experienced at a hotel or restaurant. Not as important, but note that the hotel also allows pictures of a pool to be posted on trip advisor, etc, implying they have a pool, but they do not. Overall, there were some staff who were great (wine bar and breakfast staff), but many were snobbish and seemed stressed. This isn't was one would expect from a hotel trying to be \"high end.\" Stay at the Marquis de Riscal or elsewhere, if you can, where they understand that high quality means making guests feel welcome.

This was our third visit to Viura, and the service was off. In the reception and in the dining room that there was training underway, but the trainees lacked composure, professionalism, and drive. I don't know if these are things that can be trained. We recognized some staff from the previous year, but their abilities were overshadowed by everything else going on around us. We stayed in a room we stayed in last year, and it remained beautiful. There are dozens of wineries within short driving distance. The town is incredibly quiet, so don't expect to walk to a nearby pub to escape the hotel. Since we've stayed before and had excellent experiences, I think we will return again. If this had been our first experience, we might consider other options in the area.

A very comfortable room with view out to the ocean. Unfortunately it was a rainy day so we didn't go to the rooftop deck. Parking below the hotel made it much easier although the spaces were a bit tight. We are in the dining room and while the wine was excellent, the veal wasn't up to par.

My wife and I love nice hotels, so we do a ton of research before we travel. We absolutely loved the Viura. The hotel is a work of art, from the exterior to the bar, the lounge to the rooms... even the stairways and hallways are very cool. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, and the wine bar is a big highlight. All of this at the bottom of a tiny old school village. We are so glad we chose the Viura.
