A great hotel in a amazing quirky little town. Hotel was clean and easily accessible. Pool was nice and outdoor drink service. Parking was easy, statf pleasant and polite and helpful. Only downfall is the hotel feels a bit dated. Really needs upgrading. Its a short walk upto the town. We learnt in the second day that theres actually a elevator take you upto the town. Saves you walking up the hill.

Excellent Stay Throughout

We stayed here for 7 nights. The service throughout was excellent. Very helpful staff at reception and in the restaurants. All we're keen to help, and did so with a friendly manner. The room (upgraded from standard) was spacious and generally very practical (although a bedside table in both sides would be an improvement). The style is older/traditional but also very functional. On one night, the weather was cooler than normal and some heating in the room would have been more comfortable but it was still acceptable and perfectly good the rest of the week.
Food and service at breakfast and dinner, were very good indeed. Again the staff couldn't have been more helpful.
We used the spa every day. It has a very good range of jacuzzis, jets plus a sauna, steam room, a very warm pool and an 'icy' pool too. All very good. (€22/day if not part of your room cost).
Plenty of free parking is available in the hotel grounds.
Easily walkable to the town itself. It is quite a steep climb but there is also a lift from outside the town walls, up to the town gate.
An excellent place to visit the town and surrounding area.

Everything comes with a price here. They charge water, corkscrew and won't allow you to checkout late, not even for 30 mins, unless you pay. My room is okay, but kind of old, and the spa can be recommended but I don't think the water is very clean. Good thing is that you can enjoy it almost empty in the morning, of course, if you paid for it.

The Silken Hotel Laguardia is very well situated near the bottom of the hill below Laguardia. It is only a 10-12 minute walk up the hill (hint, use the elevator to save yourself some of the climb). The hotel rooms are comfortable and clean. Mine was on the third floor with a good view out over the surrounding countryside and its many, many vineyards. The pool area was nice and the buffet breakfast good. Laguardia itself is wonderful, with many wine cellars or caves (literally, dug down below the buildings and streets). The mechanical clock in the small town square with traditional dancers is also not to be missed. Finally, the expansive views from the tree-shaded promenade all around the north end of the village are also special.

The good - its located only a short walk from town. The spa is excellent so would suggest adding a round in the spa facilities to your package. The spa staff were great. The pool is tiny and the loungers were taken each time we tried to relax in the sun but I guess it was nice to have the option. The breakfast was also ok for the money and enough to fill you up; the staff were smiley and cheery and made a great start to the day. The beds were comfy and even the basic rooms large. The place was very clean and the views from the lift were fantastic.

The bad - I communicated with the hotel before my trip to ask them to help organise taxis or transport. They weren't particularly helpful and just stopped responding. In the end we booked our taxis and bus tickets through my friend's hotel where the customer service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The evening service in the restaurant was almost farcical with only one personal allowed to seat people and take orders it took almost 15 minutes to be seated and a further 15 mins for someone to take our order. There was a storm the first night and the ceilings of two of our three rooms leaked - there was no apology whatsoever and the attitude was that we were lucky that they were able to house us in other rooms. The shower was broken in our first room and the lights didn't work but as we switched rooms this didn't affect us.

Great older hotel. Breakfast was good, parking available, room very nice. Although outside the walls, it's an easy walk from the hotel up to the walled city of LaGuardia. Assistance at the front desk was \"spotty\". Sometimes they were helpful, other times they saw us waiting and we were ignored until we stated we needed assistance.

A 2 star hotel not 4

I am not able to recommend this hotel. We stayed through Xmas and if I could I would downgrade it from 4 to 2 stars. With two exceptions all staff is impolite, rude and they could not care less (including management). If you wish to stay in a noisy room (including hear other customers using their bathrooms), not well maintained (same issues described by other customers here as well) have a staff without a clue of what customer care is, feel cold and hungry during winter and pay a lot for the little it offers than this is definitely your place! Good luck!

The reception staff was helpful and friendly. The room was clean but worn. It had dim lighting and tired-looking furnishings. The pool was closed for the season, and there was a 20 euro charge to use the spa. It is difficult to believe that this hotel was rated 4 stars.

Very nice stay in our comfortable room and beautiful hotel. Easy to get to the bodegas. Front desk was excellent. Parking space was scarce. Only issue was the bartender in the cafeteria - sarcastic, surley, served the wrong wine and insisted that was what we ordered - really? Ask for white and get red?

Perfect location to tour all the wineries!

The walled city of Laguardia was charming and can be seen all in one day. Restaurante Castillo El Collado (lovely outdoor patio for sightseeing and hanging with the locals playing cards) and Batzokia Restaurante (Julio the owner is absolutely wonderful and serviced us with 100% attention) are well priced and the cuisine was the best by far in the walled city! We highly recommend wine tour/tasting and LUNCH at this 150 old old winery Eguren Ugarte Winery.The caves are unbelievable to see in person. Get a driver/taxi that you can split with other couples at the hotel, 12 euros. YSIOS winery is a must see if you are keen to see Calatrava's architecture of this modern winery. The wine museum (perfect for families) at Valdelana was a nice treat to see all the artifacts of wine making process etc. About a 20 minute drive to see Hotel Viura is a must see! Exceptional modern design, eclectic interior design. Pop into to have a glass of wine in the outdoor patio, or their artistic cafe inside for a waygu burger and frites! Delicious! We stopped into Haro to see a photography exhibit at Bodegas Roda. \"MARIDAJES\" FOTOGRAFÍA DE ARQUITECTURA
is on until November 2017. Our experience in this region was filled with architecture, design, history, and exceptional views from the mountainous roads.

Ideal Base For Laguardia and La Rioja

Comfortable and satisfying 3 night stay here in July. Easy parking and friendly check in. Room had a view over the vinyards of a large bodega nearby. Just a 10 minute walk into Laguardia which was pleasant but busy and quite expensive.
Room in need of a bit upgrading in places especially in bathroom where overhead shower wouldn't stay in place and the sealant for shower door had fallen off. Aircon also fairly ineffective. However, clean, quiet and comfortable. New floor covering (laminate) also due.
We did upgrade to include the spa package and used it twice. Be mindful of limited opening hours and make sure to book in advance although it wasn't busy when we were there. A bathing cap (even for a bald man!) and flip flops also required. Impressive facilities though. Outside pool area also nice especially when getting used to road noise over the hedge.
We dined here twice. A compact set menu including three courses, bottle of wine, water and coffee cost 18 euros each (24 at weekend).Very good food at an excellent price especially compared to the old town in Laguardia.
All in all a very positive experience.

Great relaxing hotel for a visit to Laguardia

This well-appointed hotel is just outside the wall of the medieval town of Laguardia, but the short walk is simple and pleasant, especially the descent back to the hotel! The pool provided a welcome respite from the heat of July, and the spa probably appeals to many looking for a more upscale experience. We visited three wineries, including Bodegas Solar Viejo, just across A-3228 on the way to Poblado de la Hoya. The Bodegas Solar Viejo stayed open into the siesta hour just for our unscheduled visit and tasting of three great wines. The museum curator at Poblado de la Hoya came out of his office to walk us around the museum and explain the digs (yacimientos) outside. Food was terrific in Laguardia, but we heard that this hotel also has a very fine restaurant. The staff was extremely helpful and attentive, completing a perfect experience here.

Without the pool and spa (neither available but it was January) this hotel is a two star at best. Faded, a little tatty and with an over-active heating system, the stay was not a comfortable one. However, the staff were great and the dining experience was very good indeed. Actually, the restaurant was the best part of the stay.

Something about this hotel just misses being fantastic. It has all the amenities you want or need. The staff are friendly and make an effort to communicate with guests of all languages. If your looking for a nice place to stay while you tour La Rioja, it's good value for the money. The hotel is situated below the old town of Laguardia which makes it easy to find, and a great location for touring La Rioja by bicycle or car. But it's an uphill climb to the old town if you want to go out for dinner or drinks. Few will attempt this walk after a long day. The restaurant has a nice menu but all the warmth and charm of a conference room. Seriously, look under the table cloths.

Lovely hotel in a quiet rural setting, just outside La Guardia. Large comfortable room, with views over the neighbouring vineyards. Pool area, spa and gardens give a relaxing atmosphere, although the football or basketball commentary on the bar TVs were really intrusive. Excellent buffet breakfast, although the only dinner we took was disappointing.

3 nights top floor superior room in eaves, port hole windows, no balcony. Dark with very little natural light. Beside elevator. Don't pay extra for these rooms, book standaard with french balcony on 2nd floor. Breakfast OK, short walk into Laguardia. Overall felt a bit like an american motel.

1970s' flashback, badly in need of renovation

Don't be fooled by the relatively high ranking on Trip Advisor. There are relatively few hotels in the LaGuardia neighbourhood, so this hotel ranks highly just by virtue of being a stayable place out of a meagre, mediocre lot. In reality, this hotel is a throwback to the 1970s and has the feel of a dingy motel that'd be more in place on Route 66. The toilets smell and the beds creak and there is a feeling of damp decay throughout the place. The hotel also needs proper signage, hard to see the entrance although it's right off the highway. If you want to stay in the area, just drive 10-20km down the road to Logrono for a better pick of hotels.

Stayed here 2 nights in April. It's a very nice hotel just a short walk (slightly uphill) from the old walled town (which is pedestrians only.

We had a very comfortable room at a decent price. Missed the special offer on the spa on the Saturday and it was not repeated on the Sunday unfortunately so we didn't use the spa.

We ate twice at the bistro and it was OK, nothing special and it was rather empty as we eat earlier than the Spaniards (8.30pm and things were only just starting). Good breakfast.

We loved Laguardia.

Lovely clean hotel - amazing area

Super hotel with great facilities. It was very clean. The location was good (but is an uphill walk into town), however, it's not too strenuous and the views are well worth it when you do reach town. Good size hotel and pool for capacity, never felt overcrowded by or in the pool. Food was good although wasn't keen on the breakfast.

Pros: Clean, comfortable bright rooms with great wifi, nice staff, and walkable to old town. Free self parking. Cons: Couldn't find at first bc name does not include \" Wine Oil Spa\", pool in high season was closed due to waiting health inspection, spa \"circuit\" goofy and expensive. (Basically a pool with bubbles that is too warm to swim but not hot enough to be a hot tub - Although one sauna was nice & hot. Bring your own flip-flops & bathing cap or you must buy) No cocktails served in dining areas.

Perfect position for the La Rioja wine district

We only stayed one night but found the hotel staff to be very helpful and accommodating. For example, we arrived back to the hotel after sightseeing and discovered that the restaurant was closed for dinner, however, Miguel arranged a lovely Tapas meal of salad, pancetta and cheeses, it may not sound like much but it was one of the best meals we had whilst in Spain. We can also recommend paying the extra for the Spa treatment which is 90mins in the Hydroponic spa and also includes dry and moist saunas, for us it was a wonderful way to relax after long days of sightseeing. Maialen at the front desk was just wonderful, she could speak very good English and was able to recommend places to see in our next destinations of Bilbao and San Sebastian, we took up her recommendations and are pleased to say that she helped make our Spanish holiday even better so we have much to thank her for. The only negative I found in our stay was that the room, although non-smoking, smelt like a smokers room, however, in Europe the smoking culture is much more relaxed than in our own country so we just opened the window and didn't let it spoil our stay.

Rooms were lovely, restaurant was superb, outdoor terrace was great. Only thing bad was the sometimes curt staff at the front desk. They mention on the website that they will organize your wine tastings but don't rely on them for this as they get busy and will not make the calls for you. Overall I would go back and think it's the best option for a modern hotel in LaGuardia.

Nice Place is Delightful Town

We liked this place except that we were assigned a hot (east-facing) room over a terrace where a huge party was being set up and were told that a cooler, quieter room on the other side of the hotel was not available and so we had to make a fuss to get the desk clerk to move us as she obviously could have done without first telling us, \"That is not possible.\"

To our surprise, Laguardia is a as delightful a town as any in Spain.

very nice place

The sign on the place is not wine and oil spa..was a little confusing...the route to the nice pool and lounge area was a bit convoluted but you get over it. Beds were ok. Bathroom very nice. Room a little small but quaint.. Nice breakfast..(a little high, but it IS europe) walk up the hill 5 minutes to the medieval town, drink lots of wine with some of the friendliest people ever (the friends we went with are seriously thinking about buying property there....), and then walk back downhill to the hotel. Win, win situation....went over one day to the town of Briones to see the wine museum...(20 km) nice place..both towns have incredible churches that are a must see. Laguardia has a winery that dates back to the 11th century...monks making wine out of grape tithes...really cool.

Nice hotel away from the big citiy

The hotel is located just outside the picturesque town of Laguardia in La Rioja. The hotel is comfortable. The buffet breakfast is very good, and includes different kinds of foods from ham to fruit. We didn't have time to try the spa, which is supposed to be quite good. The only complain is that the room had only one electric plug to recharge our phone, computer, etc. (who needs them anyway?) If you want to explore the region on your own you will need a car to move around. Laguardia is close, but it's still a hike and the only other attraction at walking distance is Villa Lucia, where for a few euros, you get a worthwhile 4D sensory enhanced video, a tour to a wine making museum and a wine tasting. There are many wineries within a few minutes by car that can be visited. We are planning to come back and stay a little longer.

Lovely Hotel

This hotel is located just below Laguardia, which means quite an uphill walk! The walk is short but steep, however it is manageable and worth it. The hotel had amazing views of the mountains. We didn't use any spa services, which includes the indoor pool pictured, and it was too cold for the outdoor pool. We had a room on the corner with a very nice living space that made for a large room. The receptionists spoke English for the most part, but some better than others. Overall, the only issues we experienced were a lack of efficient air conditioning, and a leaky sink (which was fixed while we were out for the day). Great hotel for the price! (

Only 16km off the motorway for a quality hotel

I chose this hotel as a place to relax overnight on a long trip from the French border to Southern Spain. Particularly you only have to travel about 16 Km off the main north/south route to access the facilities of this hotel. Nice rooms, excellent spa and quality food . Also of course surrounded by vineyards for visits and sampling! I was not disappointed a nice relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Clean hotel within a 10 minute uphill walk to Laguardia. 2 restaurants, 1 of which is supposed to be very good. Treadmill in gym out of order. Outdoor pool and spa facilities. Small, quaint and comfortable room with marble bathtub. Try the Castle restaurant in town; the service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. Enjoy!

Great location, very relaxing hotel

We loved the hotel and the area - friendly people, great location, fabulous food and wine. Hotel staff were very helpful and even organised a packed breakfast because we had to leave very early on our last day. Spa was fantastic too!

Great hotel that was somewhat close to town. Could walk to center of town, but large hill to do so. Was raining when we were there so we drove in. Close to a lot of wine tasting and good location. Clean, large rooms, large bathroom. Would stay here again.

15 min uphill walk to centre of town but good for cycling round lagoon

The hotel location is 15 minutes up quite a steep uphill to the centre of laguardia and to the bus stop (to Vittoria and Bilbao), and if you have heavy luggage is a bit of a struggle even if you are quite fit.

It is however right next door to a pretty lagoon you can hire bikes from the hotel and cycle round it in an hour with wild bird hides, picnic spots and pretty views of the mountains and vineyards.

It also has a spa right underneath it, where you can relax and have a massage.

We ate in the restaurant one night had had a 7 course tasting menu which was very nice. I think it is featured in the Michelin guide.

Decor is quite eighties, and a bit dated, but clean. Walls were a bit thin and I heard the neithbour running a bath and the pipes squeeking woke me up. There were hand sanitisers everywhere which made me think either they were super clean or had possibly had a previous problem with hygiene.

More like a three star hotel (not 4 star) with spa underneath it. I visited in November when it was not very busy.

Only stopped here one night in June 2011. Nice and clean hotel with a good breakfast, arrived too late to try out the spa and pool as they do not stay open too late or open early in the morning. A little tricky to find in the middle of the night without sat nave. Room very clean and tidy and free wifi to. Would be a great place if your into wine as it is surrounded by vineyards. It is about 3 hours drive from Santander to this location through some very nice countryside.

Very nice hotel with good facilities and good service. The town is a short walk away but is uphill. For lunch or dinner for is nice but you'll get much better value if you head to the town. The spa was quite nice but nothing special. Overall a very comfortable place to stay.

Villa de Laguardia - ideal stopover.

A very comfortable hotel with a fantastic view of the locale - out over the Rioja vineyards and up to the quaint walled hilltop village of Laguardia. Our room was substantial and comfortable with all the necessary comforts. The Hotel offers a range of facilities, including good dining options. We were particularly impressed with the buffet breakfast, which had it all, from the fruit selection to the cooked options.

An ideal stopping point from which to explore Laguardia and the surrounding countryside.

Pleasant location but a stiff walk to town centre

We found it to be a very comfortable and well run hotel; the dining room poduced an excellent dinner and we were very impressed by the quality of the breakfast buffet.
Whilst lacking the attraction of being in the middle of Laguardia it had ample carparking by way of compensation.

Outstanding Hotel, Outstanding region

This was by far the best hotel/city/region that my wife and I travelled to on our 4 city, 10 nights honeymoon. The hotel was excellent with a tasty restaurant (try the hamburger), cheap bar (well, it IS wine country), and excellent location to Laguardia and the surrounding wineries. We took the bus from Logrono to Laguardia and it dropped us off right infront of the hotel, but the next morning we were confused about how to get to the wineries without a car. Take this travel tip and rent a car. We ended up going back to Logrono to pick up a car the next day. You can walk to 2 wineries in the town, but the others, while they may be visible from your hotel room, are most safely visited by car just because the roads have very small shoulders, and we couldn't find any other way to visit them all. We also got a message at the spa, which was clean, and fun, although I couldn't see going to the hotel just for the spa for your stay with all the wineries to visit. Computers to use with internet in the lobby, curtious hotel staff, and altogether great experience. Would definiltey recommend this hotel especially for the price, and region to other honeymooners.

A Lovely Relaxing Hotel

We stayed in this hotel in Laguardia for 3 nights and were delighted with it. Its in a great location just a short walk outside the town. The rooms are lovely and comfortable and the hotel staff were very helpful. A great place to explore Rioja from. Would definitely go back.
