Amazing well kept vinyard. Toue was amazing. Biking was beautiful. Hotel itself feels a bit out dated. Rooms feel the same but very spacious. Cleanliness in the hotel was good but the rooms itself just felt ok. Over we came for relaxation and we got that. Vinyard was amazing!

Wine away from the beaten path.

This was one of the most unique hotel experiences in all of my travels around Europe. The hotel was clean, inviting and truly off the normal travel path for lost traveling from large city to large city. If you enjoy wine (really great wine) and amazing food and an indoor pool right next to the vineyard, this hotel is a must. The service was amazing and everything was done to make sure our stay was exceptional. Ps. You can buy wine from the winery and the hotel will assist in shipping home.

The architect is famous and the region is beautiful. Hotel service is excellent. There was noisy construction going on, though, which detracted from afternoon rest or enjoying the terrace. Pool opens late (10 am).

This is not a luxury or exclusive hotel and should not be advertised as such
The tour of the wine cellars was good and overall very informative. The tour also extended around the perimeter of the hotel. The group within the tour included people not staying at the hotel and this gave the impression of overcrowding of the area particularly as the number of people in the group were far greater than those staying at the hotel
Overall impression is that hotel is a carbuncle positioned in a great vineyard
It’s like placing a McDonald’s outlet next to a place of outstanding beauty
The tour guide and wines were good, the evening meal and service from staff was good. The spa was good
I am pleased to have visited Marqués de Riscal vineyard and if I visit again will choose to stay at a hotel in the region

Hotel is amazing and part of the winery. Service was excellent. Room was very pricey - I could see for the amazing view and room size/amenities. But it smelled like chlorine the whole time. Pool is on floor below and smell permeates up. Do not stay in Room 19!

I felt like we overpaid for this hotel. The service and overall quality of the hotel is not on par with other hotels that charge over $600 per night. It's probably more equivalent to a $300 per night hotel. But the local area is pleasant and charming.

This was a revisit for us following a visit several years' ago.
It remains superb but sadly rather busier now. We were disappointed, following a long drive and check-in just 15 minutes after recommended arrival time, to be told that if we did not book the restaurant straight away for the evening, that it would not be possible to eat there as it was so busy.
We chose to eat in Eltziego which was excellent.
Breakfast comprised a \"taster\" menu, which involved no choice and not much food either. Apparently \"chef\" decides what you would like and how you'd like your egg. Sorry that's not for me in the morning!
Otherwise all was fantastic and it will not put us off going again, but I personally will avoid the world-renowned restaurant who seem to have a capacity and attitude problem

Beautiful hotel, the rooms were big and had comfortable bed with bathroom. We did the tour of the winery which we really enjoyed and got to do a tasting after. We also ate in their restaurant which was delicious! They have a lovely pool and gym facilities also and free parking. We stayed one night and really enjoyed it.

Beautiful & inspirational Frank Gehry design

Our room had large windows with an incredible view of the hotel facade and town of El Ciego. Two complaints are that the local town was deserted on a Sunday and that the Michelin rated restaurant is not open at all on Sunday or Monday. What a terrible surprise when this is one of the highlights of the hotel and the local town is dead. We had to go to a wine bar for food or drive to another town, as suggested by the front desk.

I have two criticisms: when I asked to extend they tried to raise the rate despite very low occupancy. Modern beauty in the middle of Wine Country

The hotel itself is a work of art to look at. Stunning. All of the terraces have amazing views of the mountains and nearby old towns. We were granted a room in the Gehry building during our honeymoon (!!!), which we had requested. The room was just perfect. No right angles, just like the roof of the hotel. Nice amenities. Pedro, who checked us in, was very helpful and gave us great recommendations. I took advantage of a free bicycle in the morning to get a sense of the area, and it's beautiful. Also, you can walk in the vineyards on the lot, and there are a few hidden benches to have a glass of wine. I was so sad to leave this fairy tale hotel. Will definitely return.

Amazing hotel.

Had a fabulous 2 night stay at Hotel Marques de Riscal. The room was small but we were in the original building so expected. All staff were really friendly and super helpful. We had the tasting menu at the Restaurant and ate breakfast in the main 1860(?) restaurant each day - all the food at both was very good. We used the spa and again, couldn't fault it. Lots of towels, robes and very few other people using it. Space outside for sunbathing. Overall we had an amazing few days and would happily go back!

Stunning experience. Beautiful architecture, great room (we had a suite with views of the hotel and surrounding village ElCiego), brilliant food and wine. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. Loved the complimentary bikes for riding through the countryside surrounded by vineyards, roses and poppies. Thoroughly enjoyed the Thalasso spa for some relaxation. Would return in a heart beat.

Stayed at hotel for one night during a trip through the Basque Country and La Rioja wine tour. The hotel rooms and view did not disappoint. The hotel staff were all very friendly, but lacking the training of a five star hotel. The check in process was very slow. Whenever I spoke Spanish throughout the stay, the staff answered in English. We dined at the main restaraunt one night and were disappointed with our meals for such a highly rated hotel and the price paid.

Overall, it was one of our favorite stops of the week. However, the memories were created by the beauty of the hotel and view instead of the service or interaction with anyone there. I would return, however.

Booked as a landmark birthday treat, the hotel and its amenities were all I had hoped. The only jarring note was that a tour of the winery was included but, because we had not been notified of the time the last tour in English was running, we missed this. It would have been a bonus to be able to take the tour but we enjoyed our stay and had a sumptuous meal with wine for the celebration dinner.

Fabulous hotel in Rioja region

We had a lovely 2 night stay at the hotel and were very fortunate to have a room in the main building with fabulous views over the vines. The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly and the hotel facilities are wonderful.

Although it is nice that the hotel does not exclude families, children in the main restaurant did somewhat distract other diners from a fabulous meal.

The hotel, designed by Frank Gehry, and located on the grounds of a fantastic Rioja winery is spectacular. The service and restaurant are also amazing. The staff is super and the food is terrific. A must, though quite expensive.

Wonderful, unique ,experience!

This is a unusual hotel! Frank Gehry's architecture is worth seeing because it is so unusual. I loved it there and would be very happy to return. My husband who is more conventional, is very happy to have seen it just the once.
Staff great, massage fantastic. Bistro food excellent and bed wonderfully comfortable.
Room 14 has wonderful views of the church and village. I would ask for it again.
Yes, very expensive. Worth it for the experience? .....YES!

Our stay was for just one night as we are driving around Spain to plan, wish we had allowed more nights at this superb hotel, the staff were extremely friendly and professional.
Our arrival welcome was wonderful as we had a long drive from Barcelona, the reception staff looked after every thing for us and smartly settled us into our magnificent room.
We later had a great time exploring the hotel and the nearby village before we had a superb dinner on the restaurant balcony, excellent attentive staff, delicious food and nightingales singing in the nearby gardens.
Our stay there will remain in our favorable memories forever and I feel sure will be the highlight hotel of our 10 week European travels.
