Our stay at New Hotel Colon was wonderful from start to finish. The location couldn’t be better — just a short walk to the beach, great restaurants, and Mataró’s city center. The room was clean, modern, and comfortable, with great air conditioning and a cozy bed after long travel days.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and check-in was smooth and efficient. We especially appreciated the quiet atmosphere and how close the hotel was to the train station, making day trips to Barcelona incredibly easy.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing, affordable, and well-located stay on the coast near Barcelona.

What a find. Very good hotel, handy for the train station and the centre of Mataro, and getting into Barcelona. Plenty of choice for breakfast, especially as mine was included in my room price. Also some options for an evening meal, not quite as many but the food was very good. Only small gripe, which wasn't the hotels fault, was on my floor on my last night there were some very loud guests who were constantly going into other rooms, knocking on doors as they didn't answer. It didn't go on too late but was annoying.

Location is great. Short walk from train station with regular 45 minute trains to Barcelona. Close to beautiful beach and lots of bars. Hotel restaurant and bar is also good. Breakfast is enough to set you up for day. I did find room hot despite the air conditioning. Staff are very friendly with good English skills

Generally a very comfortable. Bad points: Restaurant closed on Sunday evening; Restaurant dinners need some changes- my pork jowl was 95% fat! ; most of the plug sockets in the room were damaged; No coffee or tea making facilities in the room; Room decor a bit stark/basic; bathroom tap had a painfully weak flow. Good points- helpful staff; very good breakfast selection; well situated for access to town and station; room cleaning excellent. Great aircon. A good hotel for a 3 star but could be very good with a few improvements. Dont hesitate to stay here.

This was an amazing stay, outside of Barcelona. It has the train route easy and close but it takes over an hour to make it to the city center. Over all the hotel was perfect if your plan is to be in a quite area and a step away from the beach.

What a beautiful boutique hotel , very boho chic style and had a gorgeous lounge and restaurant area to sit and eat or to chill in. Its situated less than 5 minutes away from the beach and is also near to the train station (35 mins to Barcelona )

The hotel staff were so attentive and friendly and always made sure your needs were met during your stay. The only thing I would point out is that the breakfast was a little expensive for the quality

There was also a lovely little city centre that had lots of cafes and shops and patisseries (theres literally one on every corner ! ) ha ha. Beautiful restaurants near the beach and theres also a dominos pizza at the end of the street.

Overall our stay has been lovely and we thank the staff for making our stay very welcoming I would reccomend.

Great, retro style hotel. Nice room with view over Mataro. Comfortable, clean and in good condition. Easy and secure car parking next door. Great location for exploring the town. Theres a lot more to Mataro than first meets the eye. Heaps of history going back to pre-Roman times. Local museums and art galleries worth a visit. Great shopping tucked among the houses. The town comes to life in the evenings. The beach looks great, but we where there in early Spring so a bit cold. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed being in a local area away from the crowds in the city . The rooms are small and was disappointed that we booked a superior double but were given a standard double room . The property moved us but at extra cost . Wotif some how messed up our booking . A bit disappointing ,and no word from them . But our stay was good and everything else was as well .
The train ride into Barcelona was interesting as the train travels along the beach . Took about 50 minutes but was enjoyable .
Living with the locals and not tourists was one of the best experience .

Such a lovely, cozy, urban hotel, with great and helpful stuff, located pretty much accross the street from the beach. Train station is 7mints walk and Barcelona center is within 40-50 minutes away, with lovely ride by the sea. Only note for the planning purpose- that most stores and restaurants are closed on sunday and monday in Mataro, but not all. I Will surely come back again

Had a lovely stay at New Colon Hotel. Hotel is modern and clean. Beds are comfortable. Had a small room with a double bed. Not a balcony with the cheaper rooms. The breakfast is amazing. Didn't eat there in the evening but the menu looked nice. Beach is nice and clean and also the Centre and both 5 mins walk away. Train station about 6 mins walk. Jose and Sabrina are very friendly and helpful. Lovely people. They speak good English. The rest of Mataro don't speak English and we found it difficult ordering food. There is a nice Italian restaurant and they speak a little English based on the Port called Dolce Vie? All in all, it was a great holiday and a really lovely hotel.

Upon my arrival after a short Taxi ride from the Mataro Rail Station, I was greeted cheerfully by Serena at the front desk. She spoke excellent English from her studies in Colorado and was very helpful and efficient in getting me checked in and acquainted with my room's Euro style features. Serena directed me to the Plaza in Mataro Central, a short walk from the hotel, and explained where the different types of stores were. In house restaurant served breakfast and dinner and had a small bar and lounge area. The food was good and fair priced,. service excellent.. The entire staff was competent and most pleasant. A very enjoyable stay and I would highly recommend the hotel to friends and others.

A very clean and comfortable hotel, with all the ammenitiies you’ll need. The station was a 10 minute walk and the train to central Barcelona took 35 minutes. It was perfect location.
Only downside was not a lot of restaurants open in the area of the hotel. It was March and the weather was cool, so that may have been the reason.
The hotel,did have a breakfast and a restaurant for dinner if you wished.

This is a good hotel made better by the staff. They all speak several languages and are helpful and have a great sense of humour.

Check in was easy and if need be car parking is available all be it limited. Our room was on the fourth floor and the view across the old town was lovely.

Breakfast is a buffet with a great variety of food choices.

We had several nights out in the town but also ate in the hotel off an evening and the menu was so much choice on each course that we were able to have different things each night.

Would highly recommend this hotel.

Difficult to find but once found fantastic

The hotel is reached via a series of one way streets. Parking at the hotel is impossible so you need to park either on the seafront, a couple hundred yards away, which is free or in a nearby paying car park which at €8 per night is expensive. The parking issue could put you off however don’t be it’s real easy once you find out how to get to the free beach front car parking (under the road next to the rail Track). After that, the hotel is well run and friendly. The food was Spanish themed and the set menu exceptionally tasty. Definitely recommended and will stay there again if I’m ever in the area.

Neat hotel with Public Transit to Barcelona

We chose this hotel to avoid the very expensive ones from Downtown barcelona. And our choice worked perfect, the hotel is a 5-minutes walk to the train station which will take you to Barcelona in 25 minutes; so we also avoided the terrible traffic in downtown. Furthermore, we decided to stay one day near the hotel and that is also a great option because there is a nice beach at 200 mts, and several restaurants and bars.

Modern hotel within town area of Mataro

A modern and excellent hotel based close to the main town centre of Mataro. Easy walk to the beach or into the main town area for restaurants or shops.

All the staff were friendly and spoke English so saved any embarrassment with my Spanish. Car parking was available underneath the hotel.

The room we had was on second floor and faced the main street. It was comfortable and overall a good size. Room was cleaned daily to a good standard. The only minor issue was if the window was open of an evening then you got the occasional smell of smoke from the smokers standing around the doorway below.

The breakfast was a buffet and you had a good choice of cereals, fresh fruit, bread, hams and cheeses along with cooked eggs and sausages.

In the evenings you had the choice of a set menu or tapas. We choose the set menu and the food was plentiful and good at a very reasonable cost.

Really enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation about going back.

3 min walk to a lovely beach, 5 min walk to train station, and excellent restaurants nearby in the town and on the beachfront. The hotel has a great quirky theme to it, and is modern and fresh. All the staff are very friendly. It is an ideal base outside the centre of Barcelona (takes around 40 mins to get there by train) and would definitely recommend it.

The hotel was amazing, clean, comfortable and modern.Although there was no shower,it wasnt a huge factor for my family and I, the jacuzzi incredible. My mini me used it for a pool and of coarse the husband and I enjoyed I would post pics of that but its inappropriate lol.Booking was fast and easy but online it didnt offer the breakfast inclusion and we had to pay per day which wasnt the best part. I didn't enjoy the fact that they didn't offer room service or anything to eat unless you was a part of a large group. On the flip side the individuals there were friendly and spoke English (for my husband). They had good suggestions on where to go and spend your time.

Nice Hotel Spoiled by Manager

this was a fairly nice hotel with some very kind staff, but the manager was very grasping and penny pinching and quite rude on occasion. After 2 nights pre paid he refused to allow an additional night to be paid the next morning but insisted it taken in advance agressively . He also took two late stay payments and refused to refund them against additional nights they turned into, making each additional night cost 33% more.

One staff member gave us free breakfast to make up for the extra payment of late stay and an additional night combined and the manager tried to deny this and make us pay again until the member of staff verified it despite our reassurances and other staffs verification.

I also believe he is quite homophobic, as it was two men sharing a room. In reality, we were doing just that - sharing a room nothing more to it, but he had evidently concluded something else and in this day and age wrongly drew judgement upon it!

Nous avons passé une nuit dans cet hôtel lors de notre voyage à destination du sud de l'Espagne.
Le personnel est agréable, la décoration de l'hôtel m'a beaucoup plue.
Là chambre est propre, confortable et fonctionnelle.
Le bémol est que le parking était complet, nous avons donc du nous garer sur un parking public payant de proximité.
Notre voiture a été vandalisée (vitre cassée) et une partie de nos effets a été dérobée...
Cela a donc énormément gâché notre expérience.

Séjour d'une nuit pour attendre le vol du lendemain. Rue agréable, parking sous l' hôtel. Il faut marcher un tout petit peu pour traverser et rejoindre la mer en face situation agréable a 5 min du centre , a 5 min du bord de mer. Chambre correct mais assez froide, peu de déco, c'est blanc. Lit confortable. Pas de bruit , nuit agréable. Personnel serviable et accueillant.

Estuve dos noches. La habitación individual es un zulo, el lavabo a 3 dedos del inodoro, la cama de 90, sin ventilacion y con un holor nauseabundo...
Pedi en recepcion factura por el parking y la tasa, el lunes me la daban el martes, el martes me la daban a la salida, y a la salida no podian y me la tenian que mandar por mail...
En la habitacion no indican la clave del wifi, tuve que bajar para preguntar.
Un desproposito.
