The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We arrived at night after a very long day of travel. Daniela was gracious enough to let us store our bags in the office before we went upstairs so that we could get a bite to eat before the restaurant closed. The bed was comfortable. The room was compact, but very intelligently laid out. The breakfast buffet, though not included in the price of the room, was excellent. The train station was just a block away, as was the charming Old Town of Schaffhausen. We were very pleased with our stay.

Well, if you want to visit Schaffhausen, and who wouldn't, this is certainly the place to stay if you are either driving on coming by train. The parking is next door, as is the station. Room was large, clean and comfortable and the hotel's restaurant/bar really nice. It is convenient to everything, and walking distance to all you would want to see. A fantastic place to visit and to stay. Would highly recomment do anyone.

Staffs here were very kind.

The hotel is basically connected to the station and really near by the schaffhausen city center whoch makes this hotel very convenient. The parking was plenty and connected directly by the elevator which I liked very much. It makes it easy to transport the goods from the car to the room and vice versa.

The blind was automatic so I didn't have to close the curtain.

The fridge was working, but not so strong that it takes a while to cool drinks which I was not fond of.

Overall, my experience was very well here.

A minute from tge traun station. Very tiny room for 3 bdes, there is no space to walk anymore. The minibar is useless, hotter than temperature oitside. No aircon. The laundry facility is good but wouldnt recommend as it is use to wash rags byvthe staff.

My family and i were not happy with the situation and we weren't offered a room relocation or immediate fix by the staff. Strongly recommend to avoid booking this hotel.

Excellent location, right next to the train station, and the old town. Many eateries and shops. Nice reception staff, we managed to get an early check in. Linked to the basement carpark.
We stayed in a suite (sofa bed opens up for 2 kids) and the room is big and well appointed. Only issue was lack of proper curtains at the sofa bed side. Overall a great place to stay for a visit to the area.

4 adults family holiday with elderly parents - stayed in 2x Superior Double Room for 3 nights during the week. Reassuringly there were many locals staying for their business trips.
Conveniently located next to Schaffhausen Bahnhof, there are frequent trains to Zurich Airport that takes 40-50 minutes.
Town centre is within 5 minutes walking distance with plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes.
There's a Migros with Migros Restaurant on the opposite side of SH Bahnhof where we had our breakfast as we didn't choose the hotel's add-on breakfast.
Despite its proximity to SH Bahnhof it wasn't noisy. The rooms were modern, bright, clean and spacious. The windows can be opened for fresh air which proved useful as one of our rooms' air-conditioning and fridge didn't work.
We reported the issue quite late and the conciege advised us that the engineers were off site and could only repair it the next day which was already our check-out day.
I would recommend staying at Vienna House if visiting & sightseeing in & around SH, the Rheinfall, Winterthur or Zurich.

Since we were trying to work while there, this was a huge problem. From the room, it was nearly impossible to zoom and they did not have a quiet place from which to work with good internet. They need to upgrade their system.

Comfortable, modern and stylish

As a family of 3 we took a junior sweet. Our child slept on a sofa bed in the lounge. The room was spacious and comfortable for 3. Our only complaint was that the lounge curtains were not very heavy so that part of the room got very bright early in the morning. The bedroom benefited from heavier curtains and a very comfortable bed.
Don’t be put off by the nearby train station, the rooms are quiet day and night. This location is ideal for coming to Schaffhausen by train; there are regular direct connections to and from Zurich airport. The hotel location is a 3 minute walk from the old town which is beautiful!
The staff were very helpful and friendly, the only minor quibble we had was that the advertised free drinking water was not in our room. The staff did supply us with carafes of drinking water on request however.
A wide variety of breakfasts are on offer and they are of an excellent standard.
We would happily stay here again as Schaffhausen itself is beautiful, there is a lovely riverside walk to the Rhine Fall waterfall which is about 3kms away.

One thing that might not suit all travellers was shower stall was next to bed, had some decorations on glass wall but not a lot of privacy! Bathroom partially open to rest of room.

This was a good hotel to stay in. It is right by the train station but you can't hear any noise from the trains. There is also a handy underpass next to the hotel which brings you out in the centre of town.
Breakfast was extreemly good.
Just be sure to get good instructions about the Bahnhof parking garage in relation to the lift that takes you to the hotel. It was a nightmare for us until we figured it out and then it was easy.

The hotel was clean, accommodating. I was in a corner room which was slightly noisy due to being next to the train station and main road however it was bearable for a good nights sleep. The gym facilities were more than ample for a good workout with state of the art equipment. The spar was immaculate and had everything from a plunge pool to a essentials oil relaxing room and hoses a vast range of services/facilities.

Great showers but wouldn’t recommend staying here with someone you don’t know well, as glass shower screens are quite see-through and you can see in from the room.Very well cleaned and tidied, but didn’t always replace teas/ coffee in room and I’ve not used such rough loo roll since I was in primary school..very like izcol paper or a cheap paper towel!

Perfect hotel for train travelers

You can see the hotel from the train platform as you arrive in Schaffhausen. Was a little worried about noise & access to city center but no issues on either account. New, clean, quiet, modern hotel with friendly multilingual staff. Directly out the door is an underpass that crosses train station into city center that also contains 2 grocery stores and a couple of take outs. Also perfect for location for trekking around by train to local areas- highly recommended Stein Am Rhein and although a little disappointed with the falls, still worth a quick visit, you could easily do both in same day as I did. Would definitely visit here again & stay in this hotel.

Reception staff was unable to find our booking even with our printed booking confirmation. When we were able to get our room at last, the staff wrote the incorrect room number on the room card. Very weak wifi in the hotel room. When I asked for a water kettle from the reception, the staff directed me to the hotel bar which charges CHF 5 for a cup of hot water. Overall, don't feel welcome and neither service nor hotel facilities deserve 4 star.

Spa, fitness... A bit of a scam...

The rooms are very nice, new and clean, so it's the hotel. But, to be honest, paying almost 200 CHF for a double room that includes nothing but a bottle of water is too expensive. The reason why we choose this hotel was because it has a spa and a gym. If you check the hotel description, there is a little asterix* next to parking, because it is not included; but nothing in reference to the sauna or the gym. Once there, we realized we had to pay 25 CHF per person per day for using the services. I tried to ask at the reception if they could offer me a pass for 24 hours, so that I could use the sauna that night and the gym the morning after (which was my original plan) and they said no. In theory, the hotel offers those services, in practice, the sauna/spa and fitness belongs to a different company and the receptionists cant do anything about it.
Location wise, the hotel is super easy to access (next to the train station); but there is also a youth hostel, the Best Western and a couple more just next to each other, all right there. In my opinion, although the room was comfortable and it included a nice breakfast, I dont think it is worth the money, better go somewhere else.

The hotel is located within a very short walking distance to the train. We were only there for one night. We checked in and we're given a very helpful map. We dropped off our luggage and headed out fairly quickly. The layout is weird. Unlike any other hotel I've stayed at. Upon entering there is a rather large entrance area with two huge closets. It seems like too much wasted space to me. Especially since there is another closet in the bedroom. Just beyond the \"foyer\" is a toilet room and sink. Beyond that is another room with a sink, large tub, and a tiny shower. Another wasted space I think, to have two separate sinks. Going through the bathroom you come to the bedroom. I actually liked the bedroom. It was simple, modern and minimal. It had a small tv and a luggage rack. The bed was very comfortable and I slept great. There was also a huge window with an inverted window which I enjoyed since it was so hot in the room. Going through the bedroom is the living area which houses the kitchenette and a dining/desk table. Even more wasted space. There is a pull out bed which was weird since our room only allowed two people. The room was clean enough. There were hard water spots and some barely visible stains on the carpet. We did take advantage of the spa for 25chf per person. For what we paid for the room it should have been included but I still enjoyed it. Breakfast was included and was decent but u would have liked to see more fruits and vegan options.

I was on business for two days. The place I was doing business at was 15 minute walk away but I managed to get to see the Rheinfall while I was there. The room was like a small suite and was very comfortable with a small galley style kitchen with basic cooking facilities if you needed them.

The Arcona is a lovely hotel. Very comfortable beds and nice rooms. One tiny point if you are traveling in a pair, but not in a couple, the walls to the shower are glass (frosted), and the bathroom sink area is in the bedroom. Fine if you are alone or in a couple, if not you will get to know your travel partner extremely well!

If you are looking for something close to the train station to get to Zurich, or the airport, this couldn't be closer. It's directly across the street from the station.

Great new hotel in Neuhausen

This is a brand new hotel in the Neuhausen area and having stayed a dozen times in the other hotels in the area for the past 3 years, the Arcona is by far my new favourite. However, I am not giving the hotel a perfect rating because there are still a lot of issues the hotel has to resolve that I am attributing to lack of training and logistics of opening a new hotel. When checking in, I was the only person there but it still took over 15 minutes to check me in due to system/software issues. Can't imagine what the lineup would have been if 5 or 6 people were also checking in. I don't know if it was the employee being unfamiliar with the system or if it was the actual system not working. The other issue I had was the dining experience. The food was delicious but it took over 1.5 hours to get our entrees. The restaurant was busy but we saw many many patrons come in after us who got their food way before us. I think they just forgot our order but did not want to admit it. They did offer us free drinks for the mistake which was a nice thought.

With that said, there are many great features to this hotel. First is the location. It is literally right across from the train station so it is very convenient. The rooms are extremely clean and modern and quite spacious/well proportion. The breakfast buffet in the morning was delicious with great variety. There is also a chef on staff to make custom omelets/eggs for you.
