We had a room with a balcony facing the Rhine River. It provided beautiful views. It was quiet and the staff was very helpful. It is an easy walk to the ferry, restaurants, shops, and cruise docks.

Lovely little hotel on the Rhine

This is a lovely hotel in a great location. We had a room with balcony with a gorgeous view of the Rhine. The room was a nice size and very clean.

The hotel itself is older and a little out of date, but it was maintained well. It’s a short walk to the train station and the boat dock. It was a perfect home base to explore the rest of the middle Rhine.

Hotel Rheinfels was wonderful. The owner checked us in and was very friendly and welcoming. Our room overlooked the Rhine River - beautiful. Immediately upon arrival to the room my husband used the bathroom and commented on the cleanliness - He never does that!! But the bathroom truly sparkled. The cleanest hotel room/bathroom we had during our tour of Europe.

Best view on the river.

We were a group of 6 traveling to celebrate my wife's and my 35th wedding anniversary. We booked three rooms, one with a balcony, and we couldn't have been happier with our location. When you first walk into the room you get a full view of the river. With the balcony, we found our selves watching the on goings of the city, including the many boats going up and down, and across the river. Our host the manager (owner ?) was extremely helpful from the time we arrived to the day we departed, even saving us time by finding a faster. more convenient train schedule to get us to Frankfurt. A very nice breakfast, spacious rooms and clean throughout, my only wish was for an elevator...which I am told they are getting next year. Next time I'm on the Rhein, I will stay at the Rheinfels Hotel.

Great location, reasonable price.

Hotel was very enjoyable, for a very reasonable rate. Could not beat the location. Right across the street from the K-D river cruise dock, and very close to the train station. Just know that the hotel has no elevator, so if you have problems with stairs or moving luggage up/down multiple flights of stairs, you had better request at lower floor. We were also able to add a nice breakfast for a reasonable amount. Take advantage of that if you can! It's a great breakfast!

Beautiful location.

We stayed one night only at the Rheinfels Hotel but wish we had a second night. We had a balcony room and waking up to go out in the morning to overlook the lovely Rhein is priceless. The hotel itself is slightly dated but bed was comfy and room clean. Great power in the shower! Breakfast was fine. The owner, Alexander from India is very nice and friendly. It has an atmosphere of a bed and breakfast.

There is no lift in the hotel and our room was on the third floor. When asked if we could get a room on lower floor was told that would cost additional. Not sure how anyone with a problem climbing stairs would have been able to stay at this hotel. Nothing was mentioned about this when we booked the room. The manager was nice enough to help carry our luggage to the third floor but we had to carry them down. Clean hotel but not worth the cost.

Great stay in a charming German village.

The owner personally greeted us and went way out of his way to make us feel welcome, answer any of our questions and provide suggestions to enhance our stay in this charming little village. The building is older - as is all of this village in Germany (350+ yrs old), but was well maintained and updated. The room was large and very comfortable. The buffet breakfast was very good, much more than a \"basics motel\" breakfast.

Good location Great place to stay the night.

The spacious room was pleasantly unexpected and the staff was very nice. The property is old so you'll see uneven floors and dated fixtures. The location is conveniently near the KP boat dock and a short (but steep) walk from Rheinfels Castle. Free street parking until 9am.

Great way to visit the Rhein

The hotel itself was very comfortable, and easy access to the whole area for day trips. The hotel was very quiet and external noise was non-existant.
However, fine as the hotel was, it was the personalized service above and beyond any possible call of duty that really made our stay one of the best of our trip. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place to all travelers.

We had a great stay the Hotel. The owner was very accommodating and very friendly. The Hotel is downtown Sankt Goar and close to all attractions. We did love it there. Great place to stay in Sankt Goar. We did some nice sight seeings using the boat which is leaving right from across the Hotel. Very convenient. Overall we had a great time. I would definitely recommend this Hotel to anyone traveling on the Rhine River.

In St Goar overlooking the Rhine. This large old hotel has been recently renovated to a high standard by its new owners. The rooms are very comfortable, the breakfast excellent. We were surprised by how good it was.

Centrally located,across from the Rhine. Made it easy to walk across the street and catch the boat for a leisurely trip on the Rhine Limited free parking up the hill by the train station. Breakfast was plentiful, try the veggie scramble eggs with a great blend of Indian spices! The black tea was just okay. The room was adequate! We did not stay in the room long for there were many adventures in St. Gore areas or in one of the nearby villages.

Worth paying for Rhein view room. Continental breakfast is included. The best reliable and quick wifi we have ever had in a hotel and free too. the location is excellent right on the Rhein across road from the KD boats for a day trip or minutes fron the station giving you great access to the whole of the Middle Rhein area.

We enjoyed our stay here. The room was clean and fresh with a balcony overlooking the Rhine.I was with my 2 teenage sons and had a separate attached ensuite giving me a bit of privacy. Bathroom was so clean and modern.Breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I ever had. Friendly staff. Highly recommend this hotel!

Well maintained family-run hotel

I stayed here for one night in the room for 3 people. It is a fairly typical hotel for the region - small, family run, in an old building but kept up meticulously. The owners are fluent English speakers and thus very helpful to out of town guests.

The 3 person room is well designed for 3 people - one main room with your standard hotel layout, and then a small side room with a twin bed and desk. The whole hotel is extremely well maintained with brand new bathrooms, but slightly dated (but again clean & well maintained) furniture.

The town itself is cute for a couple of nights, convenient to castles and boat trips, but not as upscale as towns 5-10km up the river. More than a night or two and you would be a bit bored by St. Goar.

Exceptional staff, incredible breakfast, meticulously clean. Just across the street from the car and passenger ferry and the Rhine River Cruise Boat. This was the perfect place to begin and end our middle Rhine area tour. Lots of castle and other sites near by. I'd absolutely recommend this hotel to friends, family and others.

Gorgeous View Of the Rhine!

Great hotel on the Rhine! We were upgraded to a suite and balcony overlooking the river, none of which we paid for. We were not supposed to get breakfast, but the front desk insisted that we could have breakfast. It was one of the most elegant of breakfasts...a maitre'd was there to direct people to tables and answer questions. The food was plentiful and delicious, and the view of the river outstanding. We got all of this for far less than our other rooms, and yet so far, it was the highlight of our trip.

The room and hotel are very clean. The reception desk helped us with parking. Breakfast was included and was a bit better than just OK. The free wi-fi is nice but doesn't reach every corner of the hotel. We had to sit at the end of the hall near the stairway to connect to it. The location is great but Sankt Goar is so small nearly every hotel is central. The view of the Rhine is very nice. For the price I would definitely stay there again.

Nice family-run hotel

This is a waterfront hotel in St Goar. The location is ideal, right across the street from the KD boat dock. The hotel is an older structure, and some of the furnishings are outdated, but our room was quiet, spacious and comfortable. The proprietor made us feel very welcome and was very helpful when we had questions about the area. St. Goar is a sweet little village. We plan to return again, when we do, we will also return to Hotel Rheinfels.

Really enjoyed the stay

This is the perfect place to stay if you are planning to visit areas around the Rhine. The ferry picks you up right in front of the hotel. We were originally given a small room with no view in the rear of the hotel and asked to move to the front. They were very accommodating about moving us and we were able to enjoy the river views and the castle across the river. The rooms were clean and comfortable and they will be doing some renovations over the winter to enlarge the bathrooms. There are several good restaurants and kneipen (local bars) nearby. The train station is about a block and a half away. Breakfast is various meats and cheese, breads, cereals, eggs fruit and yogurts and is a good start for the day. I would stay here again.

Great place to stay

The room and condition of the hotel was much better than we expected. The owner is quite proud of the hotel and it shows. Our room had nice furniture and the buffet breakfast was more than adequate. Our room had a window that looked out over the Rhine. The major downside is lack of an elevator, especially if you have a room on the top floor. If that isn't an issue we highly recommend a stay here.

This was a last minute booking
Which prove to be a fantastic choice.
From the minute of arrival to departure (two days) Alexander the owner cod not have been more helpful. His hotel is in a perfect location right opposite the ferry terminals. It was spotlessly clean with the rooms much better than we had expected. Breakfast Buffett was perfect and extremely varied.
This is a perfect hotel nothing was too much bother and always with a smile. We have already recommended to friends and will return next year for a longer stay.

Good location as an HQ for day trips

Great service and good location. The only knock is that when you must leave the windows open for ventilation during the summer nights (no air conditioning, which is not uncommon) you hear every car that passes underneath the window...and there are lots of them starting very early in the morning. Management was very proactive and always went the extra mile. I would stay here again.

Stayed overnight when driving from Italy to Rotterdam. Had family room with a balcony and view of the Rhine. Enormous room perfect for a family of four. TV didn't work but as we were only there one night it didn't affect our stay. Breakfast was adequate for our needs. Car parking was available nearby.

Hotel was right on the river. Room had an \" American \" style shower. Meaning not having to step up 3 feet into a tub to get in. The size however was limited and maneuverability was minimal.
Best part for me was FREE INTERNET a rare thing for Europe. Their idea of a double bed was two single mattresses smashed together so you better be \" close \" friends.
Breakfast was traditional German. Hotel staff knew English but it would be a lot easier if you know some German. But that can be said for most of Sankt Goar.
No elevator so be prepared for stairs.
The key to the room has a 2 pound key chain.

All in all, it was a great place to stay.

Room was very clean and adaptors for room sockets available on request from management. Wi-Fi worked effortlessly and without glitches which was especially useful for live local travel updates and on-line airline check-in. BBC news and CNN available on hotel TV service. Breakfast as simple or as filling as you need it to be. Friendly and helpful staff. Room rates very competitive especially as there was a major event in the locale. K-D landing stage across the street from the hotel front door and Ferry Loreley a two minute amble from K-D.

We went to St. Goar for a weekend and had a great stay at Hotel Rheinfels. It is easy to find, clean, and our room was surprisingly large for a European hotel. Then included breakfast was included, and a typical European breakfast. Service was pleasant. We have no complaints and will recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to stay in St. Goar.

Above and beyond service

I arrived late at night stranded at a closed train station at St. Goar. The owner/manager drove to the station to rescue me and my luggage. The room was very clean and comfortable and breakfast more than adequate. Next afternoon I was to take the local cruise line to Baccarat and the dock was directly across the street. Convenient location for all sightseeing. Would definitely recommend .

A Treat

We stayed a night at the Rheinfels in damp mid-April. St Goar had a distinctly out of season feel, but the Rheinfels is an excellent hotel and really good value. We particularly enjoyed the superb view over he Rhine, the spacious accommodation, comfortable bed with lovely crisp bedlinen and the friendliness of the staff. The breakfast was also very good, especially the delicately herb and spiced scrambled eggs.

The Highlight Of Our Vacation

Very happy that we decided to splurge for the Rhine River view room. The Rhinefels is in a great location (2minutes from the St. Goar Train Station & directly across the street from the K-D boat dock). The icing on the cake, was the superior service provided by the owner. He surprised my wife with beautiful fresh flowers prior to arrival and saved the day, by lending me a 220V transformer so I could charge my razor & digital camera. The free breakfast was great. This was a full breafast, not the usual continental type.

A bit odd but a good location

We were a bit put off by the initial impression of the hotlel but the room was bright and looked good. It faced the Rhine and had a lovely view. While on a somewhat busy street, there was no problem with noise.The owner's idea of free parking was to move one's car around to take advantage of the timing og charges in the local lots so that was odd.This is a town for day trippers so finding food was a bit difficult but the hotel had an acceptable breakfast. It did not, as this time, offer dinner which could have been handy.

Upgraded to river front room – nice view. No elevator, so you have many steps. Room is nice size but bath is small but adequate. Bathroom fan in our room was quite noisy. Breakfast was very extensive and had freshly cut fruit. Parking is on the street, but did not seem to be a problem. Part of the hotel is under construction, but was not a problem. Owner/Manager works well to make your stay enjoyable.
