Breakfast very poor. The breakfast is not freshly cooked to order. The menu as listed is not available. There was not even Irish soda bread just cheap supermarket sliced bread and a buffet breakfast. Really poor. As for the bedroom the towels were tiny. No net curtains on the windows so we had to close the curtains and turn in the lights. Hair dryer didn’t work. Basically in his hotel every expense is spared.

Central hotel.

The hotel is very central to the town but lacking atmosphere. The executive room was very basic and bland so not worth the extra money you pay for it. The room was also very stuffy but if you opened the window you had to put up with the noise of the buses outside at the bus stop for most of the night.
The staff in the bar and at breakfast were very friendly. Overall a little disappointed with our stay.

My wife and I arrived for a 3 night stay. The hotel was spotless. The staff at reception were so friendly and professional. We booked a Deluxe room which was fantastic and absolutely spotless. We ate at the hotel for 2 nights and found the food and service excellent. The breakfast was equally as good.. the hotel is situated 2 mins from main shopping . The other night we ate in a pub called Knox's. .Staff were super and food also. Lovely Hotel and great spot for turning.

Wonderful Hotel, Great Service

The staff were incredibly kind and assisted me with the local bus and train timings, even flagging that bus fare is cash-only and they broke my large bill. Top notch service from everyone that I interacted with at the hotel.

It was very humid and although there is no a/c, my room had a fan. The bed was very comfortable and it was one of the most spacious rooms I stayed in Scotland. The bathroom was extremely clean.

Lovely hotel, seemed to cater for everyone, from couples on a short stay to wedding parties. Very comfortable hotel in a very convenient location for Ennis town centre and the surrounding area. Nice entrance and reception, nice lounges and bar and the breakfast was huge and sets you up for the day. Free parking directly outside. Would recommend and will return.

Very friendly staff. We arrived early morning after an overnight flight. They were kind enough to find an available room and let us check-in by 9:30 for a much needed nap. Comfortable rooms, great location. Only downside is that the bathtubs are high sided making it a bit tricky to get in and out of for a shower.

Temple gate is a very nice hotel offering a variety of dining choices with something in most price ranges. Breakfast is fine, but choices are limited for non-egg eaters. The staff are helpful and attentive. A special shoutout to Lee one of the managers and to Jack in the bar. Delightful fellows and understand service.

The hotel is truly in the center of town and makes it very convenient to walk everywhere. It is literally next to the Clare Museum. Parking was ample and close to the hotel.

The room and beds were comfortable and large enough for two friends to share on holiday.

The perfect hotel to stay in. It is in the centre of town and close to everything. Ennis was great to walk around. You could get a great breakfast in Dunns for 5.75€. The museum right outside the door was free and worth a look. What a wonderful stay!!

It’s true, it’s fabulous

Ennis is a lovely little town and this is a very good hotel, steeped in history. The staff were excellent, they couldn’t have been more welcoming and friendly. Proper Irish hospitality. I only dropped some points because we were woken by some weird noise around 7:30 and it went again around 9am, like someone playing a recorder, but it was outside. I also didn’t personally like the shower, but that’s very personal, it’s ceiling mounted and I have long hair. They did provide shower caps and toiletries, but it would be more eco friendly to have the shower lower, bulk shampoos etc and avoid all the single use plastic and toiletries. That said, we will be back, a very well run, comfortable and welcoming hotel, that well deserves the high start rating.

My only concern was we did not have a king bed as booked. Breakfast was good, room staff very accommodating to not come in the room but would leave fresh supplies and water outside our door. Temple Gate is situated in Ennis downtown so you can walk many places. We love Ennis and hope to return.

The photos provided are not an accurrate representation of the room we were given. I can only assume that there is two parts to the hotel - a more modern build and room style as the room we recieved was defintely not up to the 4 star standard that hotel claims - old, tired and very much a disapointment.
If i was to return I would be sure to ask for a modern room

We arrived early but were checked in with no bother. Our stay was very good. The room was clean and had lots of towels. There was a menu for breakfast and for meals in the evening. We had lots of choice.The location of the hotel is great...close to the town but very quiet. Parking is on site and free. We would stay here again.

The staff was very helpful. However, because of the shutdowns in Ireland and travel ban going into effect the hotel cancelled the second night (15th) of our visit before we even arrived on the 14th. They were gracious in offering to try to find us a room for the second night of our reservation elsewhere. We then rebooked our flights to leave country a day early to beat travel ban and therefore did not need their assistance. But based on the service we received the first night, I am sure they would have made sure we had somewhere to stay.
