Nice room, but no aircon. There was a ceiling fan directly above the bed - but the room was stuffy and hot. Didn't want to sleep in a ground floor room with patio doors open. In the middle of summer, wouldn't expect to have a 10.5 tog quilt on the bed.

nope, a sprawling conference hotel in the middle o

arrival was like boarding the Marie Celeste. there was nobody at Reception. In fact, there was nobody at the hotel at all.
I was greeted by a sheet of A4 on the wall in reception with my name on. It was a letter telling me that there was nobody on site and where I could find my room and that my room key was in the room.
It was a seriously weird.

The hotel dining room was not open so I made the rest of it and went out and bought some wonderful pizzas locally.

My room, which was a suite was very comfortable and I had a good night's sleep.

breakfast wasn't terribly dramatic. there was plenty of choice And the food and drink was of high standard.

Although the staff were pleasant and it was clean and tidy. This hotel is very dated and could do with a refurbishment. The gym was very basic and had carpet and no floor space to do any workouts there. Nice food in the restaurant and attentive waiting and bar staff

Nice looking well kept hotel in nice surroundings. Room was comfortable and nice central courtyard view. Staff were friendly and welcoming. I would say that there is room for improvement though, especially as the price we paid for one night wasn’t cheap. The shower temp and pressure wasn’t the best and there was only one towel and shower gel - we raised this and the manager explained that rooms were made up for one person as standard. My main disappointments and where I think the hotel can do better were the lack of complimentary water in the room (cans were in the mini bar for £2.70!) and also the breakfast. The fruit and cereal offering wasn’t great and I am sure some of the help yourself offerings were from a well known budget supermarket. The full English was ok but one of everything and again I feel budget ingredients were used for some items. Never worth £15. My wife also had some toast for which we were charged £10! She was also disappointed with the lack of dairy free alternatives on offer so wasn’t even able to have a coffee with the extremely expensive toast. I feel that we would potentially stay here again but only if these points were addressed. For the price we paid I would have expected more.

Check-in was quick and friendly. We were told everything we needed to know. The only thing I didn't like was the flooring! It would've felt nicer carpeted, but that's personal choice. We ate in the restaurant which was amazing! Perfectly cooked steak, and the staff were friendly and efficient.

It’s was ok … but ….

I was disappointed that as a silver member, and bearing in mind the very rural location of the Hollies that there was no breakfast included.
The tea / coffee making facilities were truly disappointing (bearing in mind I had booked a suite with a fully equipped kitchen).
The ancient tap in the bath dripped all night too.
Just a bit shoddy really
It was spotlessly clean though.
The restaurant food was also decent.
The facade of the building was lovely, but overall it just felt lacking for the money they charged.

Room was a good size with a large bathroom. Lovely views and table outside to sit at and enjoy the scenery. As there are sliding patio doors, there are no windows to open so was very hot at night, ceiling fan is noisy but necessary.
Arrangement of additional beds in the room was odd and children’s beds are pull outs and not comfortable.

Gorgeous hotel with friendly staff and amazing foo

Very very impressed by my stay at the Hollies. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the rooms were beautiful. In fact the whole site was beautifully presented, thought we’d turned up to the wrong place!.

The food too was spectacular, delicious and masterfully presented, a little pricey but you certainly get what you pay for.

I for one will certainly be back in the future, definitely recommend

This is a really top-notch hotel to stay in, the staff are fantastic and really friendly, and the service is excellent.
The only small think was the shower in my room was very weak and the controls a little fiddly, but it certainly wouldn't stop me from booking to stay here again.

Nice hotel in the right place. Easy to find, friendly staff, and fully acceptable. Bed was too high, difficulty getting into it and the \"three and a half acre grounds\" seem to be the hotel and the patch of grass surrounding it. Almost all on one level so the bedroom can be quite a treck.

Stayed at Hollies for a weekend to be near to Yeovil. Its a few minutes drive outside of Yeovil in the middle of the countryside.

As a family of 4 we were given one of the cottages, these are located just down the road from the main restaurant/bar/hotel but you literally get a full property. Having separate bedrooms was perfect for staying with family.

The whole stay was peaceful and quiet without interruptions. The cottages look like they were built very recently, had reserved parking spots and all the facilities you'd expect in a house. Obviously if you stay in the main hotel it might be slightly different but this gave us a similar experience to a Vrbo but with all the benefits you also get from a hotel.

If we are in the area again this is where we would stay

My Room was next to reception, and the entrance. I could hear every single word said by anyone checking in or out, when the phone rang it was like it was in my room. It was the loudest room I have ever stayed in and I was woken several times in the night and morning. When I mentioned it on check out, it was met with apathy.

Toothpaste in sink, dirty utensils and no loo roll

Having stayed at the Hollies several times before I've come to expect the usual high standard of cleanliness and quality accommodation. On this trip I was disgusted to find a lump of toothpaste on the sink, crusted old food on some of the cooking utensils (we had an apartment) and a few sheets of loo roll and no spares. Such a shame as will change my thoughts on whether to stay at Hollies again in the future.

Can’t fault the hotel, restaurant or staff!

Really enjoyed our one night stay, booked it last minute and when we arrived the receptionist was friendly, informative and had even upgraded our room(which never happens to us!). Plenty of on site parking, the room itself was spacious, 50” smart tv, quick wifi and very clean, couldn’t fault it. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was fantastic and not overly priced and breakfast was good too. Can’t really find any faults so would definitely stay again if we’re in the area.

Easy to book, great welcome, pleasant room and quiet only pain was the patio door bkinds required some maintenance in this room (11). Welcome in the bar was ok and simple food menu to take the hassle out when your talking shop with business collegues. Sorry to say the food wasnt as hot as i would of liked despite there being bearly anyone in there. Thanks to the young watress for great service with a smile not sure if she was agency qorker but she was the best thing there that evening. The shower took me a moment to get hot it wasnt clear how to use it. Breakfast good service but cold again seemed like quakity quality really enjoyed it even cold lol. Check simlle easy and very informative. Thank you again for your attentive care. I shall be back

Jenny on reception was excellent. It went downhill from there. After a massive trek through corridors and fire doors, we found our room. There was a strong stench of damp outside the room so we prayed it wasn’t the same inside. The room was 30 degrees and I’d have expected the staff to at least cool the room/open the windows before our arrival. We ordered food, of which half arrived. Dessert was missing and when it did arrive (after me chasing it up) it had melted. We were then knocked up by two members of staff asking if we are flooding the suite and is there a blockage as water is coming through the ceiling on the room below. Most bizarre. Even they couldn’t believe how hot the room was and asked us to check if the radiators were on. Only saving grace was breakfast, which I thought was included in the room price. I would rate this experience as 2 out of 5. Maybe the hotel should change its name to Pollies..as only exotic parrots would enjoy that heat.

From start to finish our stay was exceptional! Attentive and very friendly/efficient service, room fogging prior to check in, restaurant food and service absolutely outstanding!

The only slight negative was that the bathroom and shower Inn particular in Junior Suite 25 is a bit dated and could do with an upgrade. However, it was meticulously clean!

That didn't spoil what was a fantastic long weekend. Thoroughly recommended and will definitely return again in the future!

The Hollies - Wonderful Hotel and Restaurant!

Once again, a great stay at The Hollies.

The rooms are spacious and decorated to a high standard, the mattresses are very comfortable and give a good night’s sleep (which is rare for me on a one night business trip).

The restaurant is absolutely great, wonderful food!

All of the staff that I have encountered on my visits to The Hollies are fantastic and give great service.

I look forward to staying at The Hollies when I am travelling in that area again.

Lovely location very historic and beautiful place. However, we arrived during the August Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday) and were very disappointed to not be able to get a table in the restaurant for dinner that evening. We weren't asked on arrival if we required a table either, so I am guessing they were already fully booked. It is most unusual not to reserve a table for guests but I was told the capacity of the restaurant was 60 and there were 160 people staying!

People had come from far and wide to be there which can only be a reflection on the quality of the food. So well done for that. Clean, spacious rooms. Would definitely go back.

All of the staff are so friendly and the food is amazing.... we loved each and every dish we had although perhaps a few more vegetarian/vegan options would be good.
