Great value Marston's character pub/inn with dining in a quiet convenient location with car park. We were visiting the Haynes museum as it's very close by. The food was nice, we got 40% off from the website.

The room was clean, quiet and comfortable.

I was pleasantly surprised with my room after reading the reviews. I had one of the outside family rooms and it was big and comfortable. It served my purpose for what I needed perfectly.
If you're fussy there are a few imperfections but it is good value for the price.

I arrived after 5.00pm after a long drive from London. I was given the key by the lady who was friendly to room 11 which was an annex building room. I asked for a WIFI code she gave me the details. On entry into the room it was very cold so I had to turn up the heating. Still didn't make any difference. The WIFI didn't function. I went back to speak to her about this issue. She apologised. I asked her about food she mentined they had closed the bar etc and if I wanted food would need to drive to Wincanton - 7.7 miles away to get a variety of food. Due to this I decided I was not going to stay put. I had to drive to Glastonbury and paid for a premier inn for the night instead. I vehemently request a refund please as not happy about that either.

Nice place to stay.

Nice place to stay - very convenient for events at Sparkford Hall as its walkable in 10 minutes - comfy family room which was spacious and had the essentials with a nice clean bathroom. Would stay again in the future as it was in quite a nice location.

Comfy bed, clean room. Travel kettle barely fit in tiny bathroom sink to fill. Shower was scalding hot had to run on cold to avoid injury. Good location for local attractions

The whole place was tied and dirty. Even the bath water ran brown dirty water. Terrible place, stay away at all cost. Find somewhere else. You have been warned.

The feedback is not a reflection of the staff, apparently the property has changed hands and the new owner was not present.
There was no hot water apart from the electric shower.
The room had not been cleaned thoroughly.
The cups had coffee marks on the outside of them.
The room was cold on arrival, the heating was not on whilst we were in the room, it was cold in the morning too. It was 0 degrees that night so it was very cold.
There was a small amount of toilet roll, like an 1/8 of a roll.
There was a squirrel or some rodent in the roof above our room that was scurrying about making a fair bit of noise.
Overall not a great experience.

Staff were friendly and helpful, but as the meals service was none existent because manager and Chef has quit. Although the drinks from the bar were OK and the bed was comfortable, there were no around the morning we left. We could not turn of the central heating radiator in the room that morning and the room was cold as a consequence

We were disappointed, as the tv wasn’t working, we did inform the staff, somebody came to re-tune but still was not right.
Also breakfast was disappointing, as there wasn’t a lot of choice, just cereal & toast , & coffee was tasteless!

Lovely annex family room. Smelt a little damp or musty would be my only comment. The shower gel provided in the shower needed refilling - but we bought our own so no issues. Really enjoyed our stay over night. Very helpful staff and great food. Would I stay again - Yes.

Where do I start....

- No way of checking in after 9pm
- Rooms were uncomfortably hot
- No fans
- No irons
- No hangers
- No daily cleaning service
- Food is microwaved and chips deep fried about 10 times.
- No atmosphere
- Staff were OK not too much interaction
- Washroom was very cramped
- Doorframes are less than 6ft in height (Banged head twice ha)
- No breakfast served until 8 possibly as I had to leave at half 7 for work, like most people.

I would recommend the Hunters Lodge Inn which is just up the road, cheaper, breakfast served early, fan in rooms, iron in rooms, food is tremendous, good atmosphere, staff very friendly, daily cleaning.... Pretty much the opposite to this Bedsit.

arrived at 8.10 pm to be told the kitchen closes at 8... I had driven for five hours and the landlady was rather curt when I asked why it didn’t say anything about that on hotel.com site. They said they weren’t allowed to include such information.

Disappointed. Room was not very clean on arrival, carpet and skirting board particularly bad. Arrived back on second evening to find the room had not been refreshed. Came for a wedding and wanted to hang clothes but only 2 coathangers. Poorest breakfast we have had for a long time.

1 unhelpful staff member/manager ruined the stay

Pleasant enough place very clean but music being played in the late evening out of nowhere was disturbing. The attitude of the staff when we came down for breakfast was very annoying though.. We had missed the breakfast session. I'm pretty sure we were told the wrong time but even assuming we weren't there was no suggestion of anywhere else to go or even pleasantness from the staff member who was more worried about a wedding later that day. We were unable to leave our bags whilst visiting a nearby attraction for the same reason. Fair enough the rooms would be used but in a place of this size I would have thought an alternative small stowage place could have been arranged. VERY unhelpful and since this was a scouting visit for training courses I run nearby that I require accommodation for groups for potentially a costly mistake for the inn as I will never return thanks to the attitude of 1. Bar staff I should add, were lovely.

arrived at the hotel a bit early and was told it was not possible to check in early, which is normal after a busy Friday night, so no problem there. But, after waiting many hours so they can clean the room once we went into the room it had not been cleaned at all.

Lovely Hotel close to wedding reception venue.

Came for a local wedding and reception at the Haynes motor museum ( 1/4 mile from hotel).

Booked late and in haste so didn't really do my research but on arrival was greeted by very nice owners and allowed in early to change for wedding.

My room was actually a lovely suite and fitted out very nicely.

Included full english breakfast was very welcome with post wedding fluffy head!

Lovely character pub and hotel.

Good basic pub food lovely home made sweets was a bonus. Room was clean and warm although being on the road expect some traffic noise. Easy book in and breakfast was what you wanted but full English was always available. We enjoyed our stay and will consider returning at a later date.

Hotel ok as far as cleanliness but rooms were cold. Breakfast advertised for 8am but the cook doesn't arrive until 8 so it's really around 8.40. Not very well run at all, couldn't wait for breakfast so no idea if it was any good.

Overnight stay for business.

I understood the Sparkford Inn was under new management (they have been there 4 months) and needing somewhere to stay overnight I thought I would give it a try. The staff were friendly, evening meal was very tasty and arrived quickly, beer was good and room was more than satisfactory. I understand the Inn had been rather run-down when the new team took over and they are working hard to improve it. Personally I enjoyed my stay and would stay again.
