Cancelling a Crypto Travel Booking: Refunds Explained

Check booking conditions, eligible amounts and the refund route for your request.
In this guide

Travel booking documents and a calendar under review, with terms, request, review and status panels.

When travel plans change, two separate questions matter: can your booking be cancelled, and how will any eligible refund be handled? Paying with cryptocurrency does not override the airline's fare rules or the hotel's rate conditions.

This guide explains the checks to make and the information to send with a request. Your own booking conditions and CryptoTraveler's terms and refund FAQs remain the reference for your booking.

Start with the fare or room-rate conditions

Find your booking confirmation and the rules accepted before payment. A hotel can sell several rates for the same room with different cancellation deadlines and charges. Flight fares on the same route can also have different restrictions.

  • Check whether cancellation is allowed and which parts of the price are eligible for refund.
  • Find any deadline and the time zone used to state it.
  • Check provider penalties and applicable CryptoTraveler service fees.
  • For separate tickets or bookings, review each one individually.

Do not assume every flight has a free 24-hour cancellation period. Conditions can depend on the carrier and booking channel. A request sent to support also does not by itself confirm that the booking has been cancelled; obtain confirmation of the outcome.

Request a cancellation through CryptoTraveler

Use My Bookings where the relevant action is available, or contact CryptoTraveler support. Make the request before the applicable cancellation deadline or departure whenever possible. Missing a flight or failing to check in at a hotel can affect eligibility.

Provide enough information to identify the booking and the change you want:

  • The CryptoTraveler order or booking reference.
  • The contact email used for the booking.
  • The hotel dates or flight itinerary and affected travellers.
  • Whether you want cancellation or are asking about a change.
  • The payment transaction reference if support needs to trace the payment.

Support checks the request against the provider's rules. Ask for the proposed cancellation charges, eligible refund and handling method before accepting an option that changes your booking. Cancelling one separate flight ticket or hotel reservation does not automatically cancel the rest of your trip.

How the refund value is calculated

CryptoTraveler's refund FAQs state that refunds are based on the original fiat value at the time of purchase. They are not based on returning the same amount of cryptocurrency originally paid.

For example, suppose a booking originally cost €400 and support confirms an eligible refund of €300 after the applicable conditions and charges. The reference refund value in this example is €300. A later rise or fall in Bitcoin's price does not turn it into a promise to return a particular fraction of the Bitcoin you sent.

Use the approved refund amount for your actual booking. The example above is arithmetic to explain the policy, not a sample cancellation fee or a prediction of what you will receive.

Which refund methods may be offered?

The current FAQs describe bank transfer through WISE, PayPal and USDC as refund routes; a voucher or prepaid CryptoTraveler account credit may also be offered. The method must be confirmed for your case. Do not assume that a refund will arrive in Bitcoin, in the original cryptocurrency or at the wallet address used to pay.

If a crypto refund route is agreed, confirm the exact asset and network with support before supplying an address. Share only the information needed to receive the refund. A recovery phrase or private key is never needed to identify your booking or receive funds.

Charges, extras and processing status

The booking terms explain that flight cancellation can involve a CryptoTraveler cancellation service fee in addition to provider charges. They also identify booked flight extras such as bags and seats, and CryptoTraveler service fees, as non-refundable even when the ticket itself is refundable. Check the itemised result for your own order.

Keep the cancellation confirmation and support correspondence. Ask whether the request is awaiting provider approval, whether the eligible amount has been confirmed, and whether the refund has been sent. These are different stages; sending a request does not mean funds have already been returned. There is no single processing time promised here for every provider and payment route.

Common questions

Can support make a non-refundable booking refundable?

A support request cannot guarantee an exception to provider rules. Support can check eligibility and available options for the particular booking.

Does cancelling the outbound flight affect the return?

It can. Ticket conditions and no-show rules may affect later flights on the same ticket. Ask about the complete itinerary before cancelling or missing a segment.

What should I check before my next booking?

Compare cancellation conditions before the final price alone. Our hotel booking guide and flight booking guide show where those checks fit into the booking process.
