i was allocated a room in an building seperate to the main hotel - located at the end of the lane. There is no lighting on the lane, after my evening meal in the hotel i had to navigate back to my room down a dark lane, full of potholes / puddles using only the torch on my mobile phone.

Asked if we could view the room before booking, but said we couldn't. Room was ok, but the kids bunk beds are in a cupboard without any window or ventilation. Soundproofing was non existent as the road noise was very loud and the neighbours. Other than that was ok, good water pressure and the beds were quite comfy

Overall my stay was good, the only thing I would criticise was the fact that the pillows were far too soft for me.

Perfect for what we needed it for which was a base to sleep.
Plenty of parking, road was noisy but fine if you had windows closed.
Air con was perfect as was very warm, beds were comfy. It was very clean but could tell it just needed a freshen up especially in bathroom.
Staff were all very friendly, breakfast was okay - overall, great stay

Quite a poor experience sleep wise and not for the first time. On my first visit my room backed onto the driving range so I was stopped from having a nap by the permanent rumble of balls.
This time there was what sounded like a toilet pump running every two or three minutes at quite a volume for the entirety of my stay in the room to the extent where I couldn’t sleep
On the plus side the restaurant food and service were very good indeed

Could have been superb. Really lovely location and helpful staff, the one thing that was disappointing were the mattresses, very saggy, clearly well used and uncomfortable, feels like a small thing but if you are sleep deprived on holiday it's not so much fun. Breakfast was lovely. Overall pretty good and the set up of the family rooms with the bunk beds separate to the double room is a great idea. Thanks ☺️

The venue is very well maintained, quite pretty with lots of green and the room was clean, tidy and equipped with iron and board, too.
Food was fine.
I had a nice staying.
Staff could do with a bit more of customer service skills, they weren’t the most friendly people, they wouldn’t acknowledge customers walking in and they preferred talking to each other, but they were young and I guess lots to learn still. Other than that, everything was good.

The breakfast was fantastic, great service and lovely food. Unfortunately there were a couple of negatives. We requested a king bed but when we arrived at our room quite late, we had single beds. The next day staff opened our door without knocking over an hour before checkout. The room was very hot and we couldn’t get the room to cool using the conditioning unit. Opening windows not an option cos we were right next to the noisy main road.

We had a great 1 night stay. The upgraded room was basic but clean and had all we need. Paintwork was a bit shabby and nothing special.
We ate in the restaurant which had plenty of choice and the food was great. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Good service at reception. Food - adequate. Accommodating poor. Why poor? Noisy room right by the main road, thin walls, toilet paper thin, no toilet brush, room smelt of sweat on arrival necessitating open the windows to let in fresh air. Very poor indeed.

A convenient location for a course I was on nearby. Room was chilly (so had to use electric fan heater provided ) and no water provided - but maybe that was an oversight. It was a triple deluxe and all was clean and neat etc would stay again.

The cottages housing the rooms are small but well designed. They are near the road but this is very quiet at night. The golf course looked in very good condition and though we didn't play it on this occasion, we will play next time we visit.

Nice hotel but check before if you need wheelchair

The hotel would have been fine if it were not for the fact that we had asked for a wheelchair accessible room and we were not given one. The hotel was apologetic and provided a full refund. It would have been a lovely hotel otherwise with converted cottages. Therefore I would advise phoning the hotel in advance and making sure that your assigned room did have an accessible bathroom if you need one.

Noise issues and poor responses

Really lovely staff during check-in, super helpful. Same at the bar when visiting there, and breakfast was greasy but good if a fry up buffet is your thing, for which two stars not one. However, the room I was in was not fit for purpose. Not only are they quite tatty and grim/old (with prison soap dispensers etc.) but more importantly soundproofing is less than zero. Every time the door to the building closes, the whole room I was in literally shook (to the point of waking me repeatedly) and every word of other guests and cleaning staff etc. not to mention hoovers and the rest, and cars from the busy main road outside the window meant constant interruption.

The worst part was complaints about this (both by Hotels.com app messaging and then speaking to reception in person) were completely ignored. The latter having a response promised which never came. I guess they already had my money…

While the main building may well be better, the experience I had down in the cardboard-walled building by the road was sleepless and infuriating - basically, terrible, except for a nice time in the bar/restaurant and friendly staff there.

Room clean and comfortable but too small to accommodate easy chairs to sit in despite tea and coffee making facilities. The room was some way from the hotel. Hotel was the golf course clubhouse, but there was no lounge area to sit in. We found the clubhouse noisy on both evenings. Staff were excellent and friendly.
Golf course in excellent condition and a joy to play.

On the whole the stay was very good. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful - there was just one waitress on one evening who was a bit distracted and served us but didn’t return to check if we wanted anything else. But the others were very attentive
The food was very good and there was plenty.
The room was clean warm and comfy the setting is calm and beautiful and location handy for most of the places in Cornwall we wanted to visit!

Good location as close to A30. We booked 4 rooms wanting ground floor for all (Expedia available room information is misleading) but when we checked in some were not ground floor. We changed the rooms to the chalets but for some reason were given one room in each of the 3-room areas of the chalets. The walk from th chalets to the restaurant is difficult for the elderly and infirm. Restaurant is really only canteen standard and one of the staff was not very helpful (eg no tongs to pick up hot toast from toaster one morning); too brightly lit and no real comfortable chairs/lounge area. Rather overpriced given the facilities available.

Very nice rooms with king-size beds. Great water pressure and rooms have air-conditioning. Iron and board in room. Staff throughout are pleasant and approachable.
Restaurant offers a reasonable choice including several vegetarian options.

Overall we were very happy with our stay. The room was spacious and very clean but lacked storage space. The bathroom was good with a good shower and bath but nowhere to hang clothes. Breakfast was also good but at times the kitchen struggled to keep up with demand. We would return if in the area.

The location of the hotel was great to visit different parts of Cornwall. The hotel team was also great and very friendly.. The only problem was the room. Two single beds were put together to make a double bed and it was highly uncomfortable. There was always a valley in the middle of the bed and one rolled to the sides. Also the amenities were for an invalid person making it highly difficult to use. The sink was too low and the toilet too high etc. This is the reason for the low score

Staff were really helpful throughout our stay and this was a highlight. Our room was nice and had everything we needed. The only downside is that rooms are in blocks separate to the main building and our room was facing a very noisy and busy main road which - along with a rather uncomfortable bed - affected our sleep quality.

My family stayed for one night here on the way to our holiday cottage. Made to feel really welcome, including our Labrador. Good selection of drinks and nice walk around the golf course. Great little play park, didn’t feel pretentious or unwelcome at all as a ‘non golfer’! Dinner and breakfast was delicious, staff were really attentive and friendly. We had a slight issue with our room but Hannah on reception was very professional and it was resolved immediately and I cannot fault the customer service at all. The family room we stayed in is probably just in need of some TLC but the kids loved the bunk beds and it was a nice shower. All in all I’d recommend stopping here.

The four nights stay overall was okay the place is very clean and bright the food was very pubish and limited but it's not disabled friendly there is steep slope from the car park to the bar/ reception and no other way to enter the clubhouse as all other ways included step's and no ramps and for that reason only we won't be returning.

The hotel decor was dated, the carpets on the stairs were in need of replacment. The room was quite small and had not been fully dusted, one window was closed tight using a cable tie which was very inconvenient as it was quite warm in the room. There is noise from the road between 5.30am and 11pm.

We had a family room which we shared with our two children. The room was excellent and suited our purposes brilliantly. The only issue we had is that it was very hot and the children got very hot during the night. There was a fan, which was somewhat ineffective, but air conditioning would’ve been great to help keep the room cool, as the children’s room had no window to keep it cool.

For most people this property would score higher but when I rang the hotel I was told Golf Buggies would only be loaned out if not wet but course was wet on day and as I am on Oxygen Cylinders and were told not to go on the fairway with buggy very disappointed that going down the 6th buggy path was blocked with no sign so had to go back via just playing 18th hole. Did not realize that our room was far from the restaurant which required an uphill walk but staff very good they lent my wife a buggy. Food was excellent

An alright overnight stop

Had a one night stay. Covid measures were pretty lax which wasn't very reassuring. The restaurant is very much a sports bar...so if you don't enjoy watching and listening to sport on the tv while you eat, then this is probably not a good choice. The room was very nicely decorated and had everything you might need for your stay. Walls a bit thin between room, so quite a bit of noise from others staying.
