Great stay. Very clean and up together. Extremely comfy bed and clean bathroom/shower. Coffee and tea provided. Suzanne and Kevin were so welcoming and kind. Nothing was any trouble. Breakfast was always freshly cooked and delicious. With so much choice, from cereals and croissants to any type of eggs or omelette, porridge or full English breakfast with toast and jams. Would recommend and would go there again. Ideal spot for exploring the area.

Lovely B&B. We were extremely pleased with our stay here. We were in a cozy double room with an en-suite. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The couple running the hotel were friendly and exceptionally hospitable. The included full English breakfast is fantastic. Would absolutely recommend to anyone thinking of staying here. The value for money is fantastic. It is a perfect location to explore Cornwall!

Have now stayed here a number of times and always find the owners very friendly. Parking is a dream and there is a lovely walk to be had through the Camel River park. I would recommend a stay here.

We are travelling from city to city. We stay in what we call a \"tent room\". Only there for one night, has good showers and beds, the breakfast was included and excellent. The owners were wonderful and very helpful. The parking is behind the hotel, it may be a challenge to some going down the stairs to the front door and then up the stairs to the rooms with luggage. The neighbourhood had a variety of restaurants, unfortunately most were closed when we went for supper. We did have a good supper at the Mason Arms. We would go again for one night, not many nights.

Just come back from a break in this lovely establishment. The couple who run the hotel and warm and welcoming to their guests and try to provide everything you need for a wonderful stay. The breakfast is cooked fresh each morning to an excellent standard which showcases the ingredients to their maximum. There is a private car park at the rear of the property and I managed to park there on most occasions, the one time I didn't i used the council car park 3 minutes walk away which is currently free. We lost the TV and Wi-Fi signal a few times in our room and maybe this could be boosted and the addition of a towel rail or hook in the bathroom would be useful. However, these didn't detract from our stay and would hihghly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to visit North Cornwall.

Stayed one night in a single room. Really easy to park on site. Was greeted by a lovely host who was attentive and welcoming. The room was spotlessly clean, quite and comfortable (didn't reflect the photos online as looks so much more modern as though its been recently refurbished). The shared bathroom was a separate toilet and shower rooms, both super clean and just across the hall from my room. The shower was modern and had an amazing rain shower. Breakfast I was greeted with a smile and served a fresh to order hot breakfast with good quality ingredients. The hotel is also in a beautiful area with a good choice of restaurants. I'd definitely stay again if passing through.

We worked our butt off to get there by 7:00 for their very early check-in deadline (even cancelled going to something we wanted to see). When we arrived at 6:50 there were no signs indicating where to park so we just took a guess and we were right. We then did not know how to get to the hotel (again no signs) so we asked a guy in the parking lot and he told us. We drug our luggage down several flights of stone steps, and found the front door locked. We rang the doorbell 2x and finally a man opened it. He just looked at us as if he wondered what we wanted. I said “we have a reservation “ at which time he opened the door for us. A lady came out of a room (no greeting) and asked for our credit card for payment. She then told us our room was #11 on the second floor. My husband then lugged 3 large pieces of luggage up 34 steps to our room! No offer of help from the staff. The room was clean but the twin bed was squeaky and had a bow in the middle-it needs replaced. There was no towel rack in the bathroom at all, but a small one in the bedroom (not convenient). You had to be 8 foot tall to see yourself in the bathroom mirror. The shower was smashed into the corner and if you were heavy at all you would not have been able to get into it because the door only opened half way before it hit the sink. There was no trash can in the bathroom. The electric outlets were too far away to use and see a mirror. No hairdryer in the room. We did get a good breakfast in the morning.

Great location for bus to Port Isaac

We chose this hotel based on its proximity to Tintagel and Port Isaac. In the end, we decided not to go to Tintagel but we would go to Port Isaac. The bus to Port Isaac stops a short 2-3 min walk from the hotel and after trying to get to Port Isaac in the past and encountering fords (water) and very narrow country lanes, the bus was certainly a great option. The hotel is easy to find in Camelford. There is a signpost, but please note that the hotel is on a junction of a main road and a very narrow road- you have to go up the narrow road to get to the car park (2nd right). The hosts recently bought the hotel and are in the process of rennovating it. There is a great fish and chip shop a couple of mins walk from the hotel.

Lovely hotel, with delicious breakfast

The couple who run the hotel are very welcoming and friendly. The hotel is nicely decorated. My room was very clean and the bed was super comfy. The breakfast is all cooked to order and very tasty, especially the scrambled eggs which were the nicest I've eaten. I had some interaction with the other guests at breakfast and everyone seemed relaxed and happy.

Is this a hotel or B&B. The hotel is absolutely fine for a night stop. However, a couple of small issues. Lack of showers. Only one in the hotel for 12 rooms and one ‘bath’ room. Toilets there are three, but not en-suites. Breakfast was full English.

Worst hotel experience I ever had in my life. I’m not sure they were staff or owner of the hotel seemed owner, they were so so rude, people like them still exist in uk. They don’t even want to talk to us, whenever we need their help about the hotel, the car park was horrible. But wasn’t told what was on offer? Just asked what we wanted?
We were in a room at the top of the house, where if you didn’t duck you would bang your head.
Shower only gets hot water in the morning, tried to have a shower in the evening & the water was cold.
A few steps to climb with luggage to car park.
Pleasant hosts who are trying hard to make improvements.

The staff was very unkind to us. They made some mistakes by giving other guests the wrong rooms and to other guests. We were very cold from cycling through soaking rain the whole day and they didn't want to give is a room just so we could get a warm shower.

Also the place has a hospital atmosphere. Not all a cosy B&B.

Fabulous b & b with a super couple

I stayed at this b & b for 1 night for a training course in Bodmin. On arrival I was greeted by the owners Deborah & Michael who were warm & welcoming. I was upgraded from a single to a double room with an en-suite which was amazing. My room was lovely, clean and the bedding smelt of fresh linen. I was asked what time I would like breakfast, which was served with the best poached egg on toast I’d had. Can’t say enough about this super b & b & the hard working owners. I would recommend this gem as a stopover or a longer holiday in Camelford. Thanks again for looking after me & I wish you all the best & will definitely stay again if I need more training in Bodmin.

Mick was very cordial and helpful. The room was clean, breakfast was good. The 4 pm check-in threw us off a bit. We arrived in Camelford around 2 and couldn’t get into the hotel. There isn’t much of anything in the town and Boscastle was too far for just two hours. We found a car park and walked around in the rain until we found the Masons’s Arms. It was a nice pub with good food, we killed the 2 hours there.

Michael the owner and man with many hats and duties about the Countryman Hotel was a really nice chap and very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Very comfortable lounge with well stocked shelves full of local maps and interesting things to do. Excellent breakfast in large eating room. Would be nice with a well stocked bar and options for dinner but I do understand that even fantastic Michael can't do all that aswell

The current owner is going through a difficult time. He has my sympathy, but guests should not suffer as a result. Something needs to change for this to be sustainable and to avoid giving guests a bad impression of Camelford. Expedia and prospective guests be aware.

Outdated and not worth the money. Hotel is on the market to be sold, so no updates to rooms or bathrooms are planned. Hotel is a mess in my opinion and after checking in and being shown to my room, I de used there and then that I would either drive the 8 hours home or find another hotel, regardless of the cost..

Good Value Hotel

A large rather dated hotel with ample parking, within a 5 min. walk into town.
A very friendly welcome from the owner who was willing to give advice of where to go in the area.
My room was dated (60's decor) but clean with a very comfortable bed and tea & coffee making facilities supplied. This room had a large ensuite with both bath & shower although some other rooms have a shared bathroom.
For breakfast there is a good choice of cereals and the host cooks a great full English breakfast.
Recommended the Mason's Arms pub for a meal and drinks and was not disappointed with a large selection of ales and ciders.
Overall I found this a pleasant place to stay and would use again.

Really nicely located, easy to find and an easy drive to amazing locations. Just a shame that the shower only did scalding or freezing, had to have a bathe the second day. Guy who runs the place really friendly and helpful.

One night stay to visit Port Isaac (setting for Doc Martin).
Excellent hotel/room.
Excellent owner/staff, very accommodating and helpful, organised evening dinner at nearby pub.
Also advised us to visit Boscastle before returning to Gatwick,we did and found it to be a \"treasure\", excellent seaside fishing village. (better than Port Isaac!)

Value for money when travelling for a day or two

Low cost room just to sleep a the working day was long, Great pub the Mason Arms and a new Indian curry house run by a Mr Barrie, an amazing character, small town with character. breakfast was good. Single rooms do not have ensuite, not problem as they were just outside in the hall.

hotel is well located for north cornwall attractions unfortunately it is very dated no shower on 2nd floor couldnt check in at 2pm nobody there note on door back at 4 !!
