We arrived at the hotel on foot while walking the South West Coast Path and couldn’t have asked for a better stop along the way. After a long day on the trail, we received a really friendly welcome and immediately felt at home. The room had everything we needed for a comfortable and restful night and we both slept incredibly well listening to the sea nearby.
One of the highlights was an early morning swim in the sea before breakfast. The perfect way to start another day on the coast path. We then enjoyed one of the most wonderful breakfasts of our trip.
A peaceful, welcoming place in a beautiful location and exactly what you hope to find when travelling the coast path on foot. We’d happily stay again.

The Port Gaverne Hotel was overall excellent. The location is incredibly beautiful, and the rooms were large, clean, recently remodeled and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was top rated and delicious. Be sure to park at the hotel entrance for check in and check out as the actual parking lot is far from the reception area.

Lovely historic hotel in an absolutely stunning coastal setting. Close to walks and the village of Port Isaac. You must like hills. The views are breathtaking. The hotel is part of an excellent local restaurant and a well-loved and cozy pub. We found the staff very friendly and helpful from start to finish. Breakfasts were opulent, and the quality of the food at night equally high. The building's historic character means that tall people should watch their heads on occasion, and the rooms are not always large, but they do try to provide an excellent bathroom and some electrical outlets. This is not a place for people who expect faceless modern conveniences. But if you like lovely casement windows and a warm atmosphere, definitely the tops.

A lovely pub and hotel within a stones throw of the beach and Port Issac. The pub food is great and only 5 minutes walk to Nathan Outlaws Bistro.

I was told there was no hotel parking, only street spaces or in Port Isaac—a ten-minute walk away. Luckily, we parked nearby, but later found there was poorly signposted hotel parking with just eight spaces. Better communication would have helped. Parking in Port Isaac is pay and display, up a steep hill, so dropping off luggage first is wise.
Reception was small and busy; we waited several minutes to be checked in, though the staff member was pleasant. Our room was spacious and well arranged, but lacked a separate shower. The bath had high sides, making access awkward, and heating was unreliable—often not working despite staff resets. Housekeeping was poor: only one cleaner for fifteen rooms. Our room was never properly cleaned, with towels unchanged after three nights until we requested replacements. The bed wasn’t remade, and daily cleaning was lacking.
Breakfast was the highlight, served by a caring staff member who remembered our preferences and was both prompt and friendly. Breakfast quality varied.
Apart from the breakfast staff, attention to detail was missing. Dining in the restaurant without a reservation felt inconvenient for staff, though tables were available. The food was acceptable but overpriced; the mussels were overcooked and portions small.
Generally, other staff were rushed and unhelpful, making us feel in the way. The team seemed to prioritise restaurant and bar guests over hotel residents.

Our room was spotless and even a box of goodies for our little dog. The staff were happy and helpful and having had two dinners and two breakfasts there, I food was hot (I'm fussy!) and delicious. Can't wait to return!

The pub offered drink and food specials that helped us stay in budget- and were of excellent quality. The location is easily walkable to Port Issac and local walking trails. We had a brilliant overnight stay in this old pub in this tiny cove. The staff are really lovely and the food was excellent. Very comfortable bed and a nice clean fresh bathroom. Breakfast was large and tasty. There's a bit of plumbing noise but you can expect that in old buildings.

The room was clean and decorated beautifully, the bedding and pillows were so cosy and soft and much needed on a cold evening! Staff were all friendly, polite and helpful. Had dinner which was worth every penny and a generous portion, and the same for breakfast. It’s a steep walk up to Port Isaac but not as bad as it looks, if you turn right at the car park at the top of the hill you can walk along a path with great views that leads to a nice ice cream shop. Lovely touch of dry robes in the bedroom cupboard to be used if needed, we were very lucky with the weather so didn’t need them but would’ve been handy if a bit cold and wet!

Unfortunately, Hotels. Com only charged for one person to have breakfast during our stay, so as soon as we arrived i had to pay a further £42 for my wife's 3 breakdasts.
I alco had already paid About £45 in taxes and Fees to Hotels.Com, which i would have not incurred if i had booked directly with the hotel.
So lesson learnt. About £90 out of pocket due to Hotels.com more than required. However as i said the Hotel was terrific .

I had the basic twin because that was the only option available when I booked. The room was very clean and warm- no ocean view. Had dinner in the dining room and it was lovely Had the daily special of turkey pie and pint and it was very nice along with the fish and chips. Breakfast the next morning was a choice of cereal and fruit and pastries along with a cook to order breakfast. Again lovely. All the staff were very attentive and friendly. Would stay here again if I’m back in Port Issacs

We were in town mainly to visit nearby Port Isaac (because we loved the Doc Martin series). If you don't mind the steep hill, you can walk from one town to the other in about 15 minutes, and the Port Gaverne hotel was relatively affordable. We had a good dinner and breakfast in the restaurant, and the staff was friendly. The only thing we'd mention is that we were on the top floor, which had nice views but is up an extremely narrow and steep staircase. So if you couldn't make that climb, be sure to ask for a room on a lower floor.

The staff was outstanding, especially Joanna, and the food was wonderful but for five nights we had no housekeeping and the heat was on only a couple hours in the late evening and the late morning. We were freezing each evening.

Set in a beautiful location right by a pretty little beach. This hotel is hard to beat. Wonderful friendly staff who were all so helpful. Special thanks to Luke for taking extra care over my dietary requirements due to being coeliac and to Jack the manger for your kindness. Extra bonus points for selling Bath Gem gluten free beer! We had a lovely large room. Bed was very comfortable. We had trouble with our shower but Jack helped us with that problem. When I checked in the lady at reception took my card details. When I was leaving luckily I checked my banking as I was charged again as I paid already with Expedia. They fixed it for me which was wonderful but the weekend reception should check on what they are doing. Otherwise it was a really lovely place to stay.
