From the very beginning, my stay was a total disappointment. I chose this place because of the attractive price, but it was a mistake in every way. I booked 4 nights, and just left after my first night and stayed somewhere else in London due to breathing and safety issues that mold and electric heater could lead.

This place should be closed for health and safety reasons. The bathroom window was missing glass, and despite calling the emergency number provided, there was no response at all. There was zero communication.

It was –6°C outside, and both the bathroom and room were freezing cold. The property was extremely dirty and unsafe: pubic hair everywhere, a ruined carpet, and an old bed with springs coming through the mattress.

It was the longest night ever, and there was no possibility of receiving a full refund.

This is a last resort place to stay, not worth the cost. The front gate wasn’t secure, there was no way to lock or bolt the door from inside. The bed bases were very stained and torn, the mattresses cheap, the single pillow thin, a pane of glass was broken and the communal hallway smelt of urine and cigarette smoke. The bathroom was slightly cleaner than the one in my student child’s shared house. The downside was the 3am shouting, door banging and key code failing, of the two other guests who eventually combined their 2 brain cells and worked out how to get into their room 90 minutes later after trying our door several times. The shower worked though.

Room was very hot, could’ve done with a fan as having the windows open was extremely noisy. Got woken up by bus garage being directly outside. This could’ve been avoided if a fan was available in the room.

On arrival the sign said we needed a pint code which should have been emailed to us, we had no such email. The pub downstairs was shut, so was no one around to ask. Contacted telephone number, which was a completely different hotel, this went to voicemail, and the only option given was to send an email, which I did, again , it was not responded to. We had to leave to catch train into London, so had to carry out bags with us into London and pay to store them as we were going to a gig, all not knowing if we'd be able to get into our room when we retuned after midnight.
After 7 phone calls, I actually got to speak to a lovely lady who said she would try and sort the issue out and would call me back, it took an hour, but she did eventually sort the issue and got us a code, she was fabulous. It put a dampener on our evening as we didn't know if the code would work on our return, thankfully it did!!!
On entry to the room, it was tired , but serviceable, then we discovered our 'private bathroom ' was 2floors upstairs, hardly ideal, and certainly not private as other rooms were using it. Probably the most uncomfortable bed we've ever \"slept' in, lumpy mattress, flat pillows.
Needless to say, we will not be returning.

I booked a double room with an ensuite for £70 for the night. While the website claims the place is 'clean and comfortable,' I strongly disagree. My wife and I entered through a side gate and were immediately greeted by filthy fire escape-style steps leading to a bridge over a courtyard filled with cigarette butts.

Upon entering the reception, we were hit with a horrendous damp smell and saw stained carpets everywhere. We walked through another door, only to face numerous flights of stairs, all with more stained carpets. After finally finding our room, we were disappointed to discover the smallest 4ft 6in double bed, the same musty damp smell, and more stained carpets. The décor was in poor condition, and the blind in the ensuite was covered in mould.

To make matters worse, the pub's opening hours were Wednesday to Sunday, 7:30 pm to 2:00 am, and our room was directly above the smokers' courtyard. The noise from the music would have made it impossible to sleep.

We quickly turned around and decided not to stay. Instead, we booked a nearby Premier Inn for £100.

Good but some basics need resolving

Good for travel to London. Enfield has lots of restaurants and shops. The Stag has a number of things that need attention. No mirror in bathroom. Kettle on floor, which is a health and safety risk. Entrance area needs attention. Good price but just a bit more attention needed. Not expecting luxurious setting but some basics need to be resolved.

The room was nice and cosy, with lovely fireplace character. The sheets and towels were crispy clean and ironed. The private bathroom was great with warm tile floor as well.
My remarks - one of the steps leading to the bathroom had a torn off carpet, so it was sliding.
There was a little bit of dust here and there.
Other than these, my stay at The Stag was very enjoyable.

There also needs to be a direct number to the Stag because at the moment if you phone the number on the website it puts you through to a hotel in Bournemouth where staff cannot help you or give you information about directions or any other help.

The staff on check in was not overly helpful. The room was tiny, smelt bad and had broken furniture. The 'toiletries' consisted of a bar of soap and a small shower gel - no shampoo! We left in 20 minutes to move to another hotel. When we left the manager said 'fair enough' so I'm assuming this is a regular occurrence!

This property has access to public transportation, This property is badly managed. Stain all over the carpet. Windows has no screen, therefore can not open the window for fresh air as when I tried opening the window flies comes in. Bad odor. I was very uncomfortable due to the unkept property. Safety was another issue.

Getting past the end of the bed was difficult. You needed to turn sideways. The room was clean. Pillows were flat and only one each. Had to ask for additional towels as only one between us. There was not a wardrobe only a hook with 2 hangers. The shower was cold even though there was hot water for the sink.

Very, very DISSATISFIED

I tried several times to contact the hotel, but it just rang out. Then, on arrival to check in, the hotel was closed. There was already two more couples waiting to check in, but, no one arrived. One of the couples rang to see where anyone was, only to be told, they were running late, and theyd be 30 minutes. We carried on waiting and the other couple phoned, only to be told, he'd got a puncture, so, he wasnt able to say how long it would be!! When i called, he was obviously fed up by now, as he was rude, unhelpful and couldn't be bothered with all the calls!!! Dreadful way to speak to a customer.

Used this as cheap option at £53 and going to football (Spurs) so convenient train a short walk (Enfield Town). Also used Tesco's carpark for overnight (used app Your Parking Space)

Pub looked nice. The room was upstairs and ok. Clean bed and towels provided.
It is the shower/bathroom that was poor and needs attention by the owners. Bathroom is run down. It is a small room with shower cubicle, sink and toilet. Broken ceramic toilet cistern (corner missing). Toilet seat broken and wobbly. The tiles/groat/silicone throughout were black, so not a great look or inviting. The shower head needed a deep clean (holes all black) and was too heavy for holder so flopped down and needed to be hand held to use.

Sleep on a park bench

I really dont understand how its called a Hotel as it clearly states 'Budget Guest House' on the information board in the room. We booked for 2 adults in a double room and we were given a 3/4 bed, 1 set of towels, 2 pillows and 1.5 toilet rolls.
The lovely Italian lady who saw to us booking left us at the door of our room and then left. The reason being the 3 of us couldn't fit in the room.
The room was dusty, there was black mould around the inside of the shower and there were quite a few broken tiles on the floor.
The out of hours telephone number was only to be used in the event of emergencies.
The mornings sleep. 6 a.m. was interupted by someone in the nearby office singing, very poorly and out of tune. This was followed by him shouting at his phone explaining to his friend what he would be doing that day.
It wasnt made clear that The Stag was a guest house with rooms above a pub. A pub which on the first two nights was open until 2 am.
The last nights sleep was interrupted by us listening, very clearly, to a tv programme he and his 2 friends were watching.
You might say it was cheap and what do you expect? I would answer £150 for 3 nights is the closest Ive been to being ripped off.
If you are considering a stay at The Stag please pay a little more for a decent Hotel or sleep on a bench in the local park that way youll be sure of a decent, and expected, stay.

It was very cold as sash window wouldn't close due to poor painting. The heater
was faulty, only managed to get it working the second night. This was a single room with a shared bathroom upstairs as expected however there was no toilet paper the first day and night in the bathroom and had to take the top of the cistern off to flush it. The bedroom smelt quite strongly of urine, the second night I discovered why, presumably the previous occupant had peed in the bin. The noise didn't bother me as it is a pub and to be expected. On plus side good location, comfy bed.

In life you get what you pay for, i didn’t read any of the reviews before we stayed. On arrival the appearance was nice, the lady was very polite and helpful at checkin. When we cam back to the guest house at around 11 pm it had turned into a night club, music blasting until 1.30 in the morning. The room was small and cold and the bathroom was grim. That was a damp poo like smell in there. The bed sheets and towels were clean tho. Overall if you can put up with music until 1.30am and you don’t really care about your room you won’t get a cheaper room in Enfield.

The room I stayed in is in dire need of complete renovation. The shower doors are rusty. The amenities are extremely basics, and the noise from the pub and surrounding rooms were intolerable. Small, clean room in a nice easy location

We stayed on a Saturday night. The building was lovely. Check in was friendly and welcoming. The room was small and clean. Bedding was lovely and soft! The bed itself was very comfortable. They provide soap and body wash. Tea, coffee and biscuits. It isn't luxurious but for the price and location it is very convenient. Music went on downstairs until about 1am but it was ok. We will definitely stay there again. The only thing which would be good, is if they provide a bottle of water in the room and also explain check out. Thankfully as we were leaving the cleaner offered to take our key

Unfortunately not great - the room was dusty, had a dirty spoon and cobwebs, and was very small for a double, especially when staying for a few days. But the worst thing was on Friday and Saturday night there was music blaring from the bar downstairs until 2am - this should have been warned about - or at least provide ear plugs to guests. I also tried to call the reception number server also times to no avail.

When i arrived for my 16.00hrs check in..the place was shut. I phoned the reservations number ( by the way the website for the stag..the number doesnt exist! ) 30 munutes of waiting before someone answers the door with an excuse about how late his taxi was..well you know what Enfield is like at that time if day, get an earlier taxi. No way to run a business!

Bedroom was situated above the bar which had live music until 01:30. Then the clients left generating further noise until 02:00. Clients coming to bed then made more noise by conversation and other activities. Clearly heard through the wall. Noise finally ceased at 03:00. Kettle leaked water badly so was unsafe to use. The room was basically a single room with a double bed with access down one side only.
