This is the ideal place to be away from the daily rut. I was away from work on vacation and made the best of my time relaxing by the pool a day at the spa, the body massage I highly recommend. The bar lounge staff were polite and courteous, don’t miss to order Bloody Mary. Room service was amazing, quick and suggested entrees.
One of the managers Mr Mithun was awesome he came to rescue one night when a private party was too loud.
Overall the best hotel in Kandy. Thank you for making my stay memorable.

This is a very comfortable and clean hotel. The staff are very welcoming and polite. The rooms are lovely and the food is good.
Spent a lovely day relaxing by the pool which is very clean.
Has come to Kandy for the Perahera and this was an oasis of quiet after the hustle and bustle.
I would definitely book to stay here again.

Property is poorly maintained, mould in bathrooms dirty and you do not get some basic requirements like toilet paper and face towels. Also, the property comes with pets, coach roaches, gecko, ants, and mosquitoes. The most import issue is the hotel caters to busloads of Indian tourists, who are loud, rude, and have absolutely no regard for other quests. Children running around, people changing tables, walking around eating food, and hogging the buffet table, push right in like they are starving.

Overall the staff are very friendly, but not really properly trained, some customer facing staff do not appear to understand or speak English. Basic requests like toilet paper or a wake-up call just are too much. Call someone to pick up your bags 3 times.

The hotel is not work the money, yes the rooms are large the staff are friendly, the views fantastic but the food, bugs etc make it worth far less than we paid.

The property is a bit dated. The carpets in the hallway, the flooring in the room and bathroom was a bit shabby. I honestly feel the property could use some renovation. The tase of the food is quite average. On a positive note, the views from the room are quite breathtaking.

Loved the servers at the restaurant specially Dilshan who would go an extra mile to help guests.
I wouldn't give much for the front office and the service desk. When we were leaving, we had to call in two different times to ask them to send someone to bring our bags down. Both times they failed us. After waiting for almost half an hour, we decided to bring our bags all the way down from the 5th floor.

NOT a 5 star hotel. 3 star more like.

Check-in was slow, and no welcome drinks (unusual for a \"5 star\" holiday resort). Receptionist (a young guy) offered to take us to the room, but walked very slowly. As soon I got to the room, I saw plenty of mosquitoes and little insects on the white wall, I probably killed 20-25 of them using tissues before the bell boy had delivered the suitcases. Tiny bottles of unbranded shampoo and shower gel, barely enough for one wash for one person, we called to ask for some more, but never arrived. Glad we got spares in our wash bags. Sleep was ok (I did kill dozens of mosquitoes after all). Breakfast was not great, lack of choices and poor quality. Not a five star hotel. Wouldn't recommend.

I want to especially mention Gayan at the lounge, one of the loveliest and friendliest people we have met, he gave us the best and most personalized service. JUST BOOK DONT THINK!!

This hotel was amazing, we ended up leaving from another hotel even before checking in due to the staff being so unprofessional and mind you that was also a 5 star rated hotel in the area. Earls was amazing, the lobby manager walked us personally to the room showed us around the hotel and every-time he would see us would walk up and asked if we were happy with our stay. It was truly a pleasure staying at this place, plus their internet speed was really good. Something we look for while traveling.

Room good, food good but a lot of the staff were useless. Often saw many staff members just standing around chatting when guests needed assistance.

3 guys outside the hotel just standing around, not helping guests in and out of cars. I saw 2 bellboys just sitting down chatting watching on as an old couple struggled with their luggage. I tried to check out and had to wait 5 minutes for 1 guy to finish on the phone - absolutely fine were it not for the 6 staff members next to him just standing around chatting too busy to help me.

Also, they don't have a pay out service which is inconvenient for business travel when I don't have cash. A couple of the staff members were great though.

Nice river and city views. Very noisy party going on under our room in courtyard. Called down to front desk and was told it had already been brought to the duty managers attention and would stop immediately. An hour later still loud music from the party was still going. Had to call again to be told it would be shut down in another half hour. Was not offered any competition or sympathy?

Good stay at Earl's Regency.

Overall the stay was very good at Earl's Regency, however it is undeniable that the hotel needs a refurbishment and is very dated. The restaurant and food is what made the stay even better for us, it was some of the best food that we had in Sri Lanka which is really impressive as it was a buffet. The man who worked in the hotel shop was a little bit pushy and asked repeatedly if we would visit the store which was quite annoying. Overall the staff were good.

The setting for the Earl's Regency is splendid surrounded by trees in well maintained grounds. The overall feeling is one of grandeur of a colonial past although the hotel is not of that period. The lobby area is huge and it was good to be welcomed with spiced tea after travelling for some hours from Colombo. Whilst the hotel probably falls a little short of five star status it is splendid and the room we had is probably the largest room we have ever had in a hotel anywhere in the world. The buffet breakfasts and dinner are good with plenty of choice that was probably only spoiled by the number of groups there when we visited. I would readily recommend a stay at the Earl's Regency and would stay there agin if I ever visit Kandy again in the future.

Fasntastic place! Away from the hustle & bustle of downtown Kandy but not too far away. Room and bathroom were large and very very clean. Pool area was great. View over the hills was beautiful. Buffet dinner was spectacular and would have to be one of the best I've ever had anywhere with fantastic selection and quality. Could not recommend Earl's Regency highly enough and would most defintely stay there again if I was in Kandy!

We reached the hotel at about 10 pm after a long drive and were greeted by unfriendly staff and a run down hotel. Our junior suites were infested with cobwebs, cockroaches and lizards, making our stay a nightmare!
Upon showing our dismay we reached out to management, who insisted upon justifying the critters infected rooms and caught Cockroaches from the room!
We wanted to leave the hotel in the morning and the duty manager at night confirmed that we can leave with a refund for the remainder of the stay in the morning, but upon our utter dismay, the manager of the hotel refused to honor their word the following morning. Being curt, unapologetic and rude, the manager stated “that you can scream or do whatever you want, but we won’t give you a refund”
Expedia tried to compensate , but also could do nothing to reach out to the hotel!
Utterly disgusted by the substandard unprofessional hotel and would never recommend to anyone.

Earl’s Regency seemed as a tranquil stop in Kandy.
Regretfully we arrived on a day of weddings as the hotel held at least three wedding receptions. Our room felt as being directly under a dancing floor, the ceiling was shaking from the thumping of the wedding party. Reception staff, Sampath, was understanding of the situation. Without any further fuss our room was changed and upgraded. Sampath’s customer service was swift and focused on resolving the issue.
One observation though, the hotel was aware of the wedding receptions that night so why to use the rooms affected by the noise in the first place?
The evening fruit and little sweets delivered to the room were a very nice touch.
Clean and comfortable room and well stocked bathroom made our stay enjoyable and memorable. Thank you.

Excellent quality of food with good variety, well trained staff and nice pool in Kandy. Rooms are very clean, quiet and good size. Location is handy, about 5-10min tuk tuk ride to the main attraction: the temple of the tooth. Good views.

Cons:
Spa is not the best and would not recommend as it feels fairly transactional/ is not of the same standard as rest of hotel in terms of warm welcome, cleanliness and attention to detail.

Standard room is totally different than that of the one advertising in the internet. The room was very old and outdated. The smell in the room was not cleaned and all built-in furtinuture looked terrible.
Frankly speaking, I am very detail-oriented and always choose the most comfort room to ensure that I will sleep well at night. This incident can prove that this hotel is cheating customers shiwinvthe renovated room in the room type that I select but the real one is different.

Below average stay!!!

We sent 2 nights here as part of our honeymoon. Booked almost 6 months ago and noted we were on our honeymoon as we did for all other hotels on trip. When we arrived we were shown to our room which was at the very back corner of the whole hotel with no view and close to 10 minutes from reception. Room was nothing like pictures advertised and felt like we got the worst room in the entire hotel. Could hear alarms in the staff room next to ours in the morning as if they were in the room with us. Walls paper thin. Room key didn' work and room was about 7 minute walk from reception to get a new one. Fogging for bugs outside our window made its way into our room through vent meaning we had to leave room. TV didn't work either. Afternoon tea is advertised as 4.30 to 6.30. Sat down and ordered at 6.15 on last evening and then 10 minutes later were told the chef had decided to finish up early today and we couldn't have tea. Apart from this the food was very good as was the service at meals. Outside of the food - service in hotel very poor and certainly wouldn't recommend this hotel especially if going on a romantic trip. Only disappointment from our 2 weeks of staying in Sri Lanka in terms of quality of accomodation and service. Think they knew we didn't have the best of stays as when checking out we weren't even asked did we enjoy our stay. Ladies at the reception desk were pretty unfriendly at both check in and check out. So overall... Obviously we won't be back to Earls Regency.

Great escape from the hustle of Kandy

It was lovely to come back to this hotel every day after sightseeing. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were fabulous. It was a 10 minute tuk tuk ride from Kandy centre, which made it a convenient escape from the hustle of Sri Lanka. However, it also made it difficult to just pop out somewhere for dinner, so we relied on room service a bit which was quite average.

A lovely hotel with amazing food. Unfortunately, we were taken to our room at the remote end of the hotel and told it was peaceful - balcony overlooking the back of a building with all kinds of rubbish. Asked for a room change and taken to the main part of the hotel and ended up in a room that I would imagine was A STAFF ROOM - sparsely furnished and stinking of cigarette smoke, nothing to place our bags on, unclean cups. Went to reception and requested Management come look at the room and immediately on entering the room Mr. Mahesh told me we would be moved. This time we were upgraded to another room which was very nice and this time the balcony overlooked the swimming pool. Apart from this we had a lovely stay and enjoyed their amazing food. Very nice courteous staff. Regarding the Reception staff, I feel they need to be aware of their surrounding area in Kandy and be better able to advise their patrons on sights nearby, such as tea plantation etc. They did not seem well versed in this area, which is important for all of us that visit.

Great Hotel, Large Room, Lovely Pool

We stayed here for two nights recently whilst touring Sri Lanka. We had a very nice stay, a lovely bit of luxury on the outskirts of Kandy!

Staff were all friendly and helpful. Unlike some places we stayed, the hotel employed women and also staff acknowledged my girlfriend rather than ignoring her. The hotel is in great condition and our room was a very nice size. Good sized bathroom with separate bath and shower and the bed was nice and big.

We spent some time relaxing by the pool and at times had it all to ourselves. Plenty of seats and loungers plus a pool bar for snacks and drinks. There is a spa and a gym, though we didn't try either during our stay.

Breakfast each day is a large buffet of hot and cold items, both Western and Asian food. There is quite a selection to choose from and you won't go hungry! We sat outside on the terrace both mornings and enjoyed the lovely views out across the hills. We ate at the same restaurant one evening and again it had a good buffet spread of dishes available.

We both had a very nice time in this hotel and would certainly stay again if we find ourselves back in Kandy.

Really enjoyed our stay. Lovely spacious room, with a good balcony and outstanding views over the mountains. Corridors were a bit scruffy- but to be fair, I think they were refurbishing them. Good breakfast and a decent reasonably priced dinner.
The hotel was quite a distance from the centre of Kandy, but the views and the peace and quiet made up for it.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting

A short (20 min/Rs500-700) tuk tuk journey from the hustle and bustle of Kandy lies this beautiful 5 star hotel. From the moment of arrival the staff were friendly and courteous, we arrived late at night so had to wait until the following morning to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding hills. Our room was enormous, well equipped and ornately furnished. Although we didn't have breakfast, we enjoyed dining at both on site restaurants in the evenings (BBQ buffet on Saturday night and an Indian restaurant). The pool provided welcome relief from the 30 plus degree heat and the claustrophobic city centre.

There was a lizard in the room (320), that was disturbing n making a nuisance with its noice. The room was shabby and did not commensurate with its 5 star rating.

Lovely classic hotel

Very friendly and efficient staff giving excellent service . The buffet was very good with plenty of choice. The hotel is in a lovely setting , wished we’d stayed for three nights as we didnt get chance to use all the facilities of the hotel and spend time in the city as we spend most of the time visiting places by car

Good but not perfect

Didn't provide umbrella, walls were too thin, could hear all conversations next door and outside.
Location not good, traffic is very bad, if you want to reach train station or secred tooth allow double travel time.
