In the middle of literally nowhere (for me) but so peaceful and serene! I love the history of this monastery. I must say as a solo traveler I was a little nervous at first because it’s very remote. I saw maybe 3 cars in the parking lot and two other guests. But it was safe! Checked in and got a restaurant recommendation for Ristorante Conte Matto, ten minutes away in a small town. The food was excellent and my server was very friendly, even walked me out when I left. Definitely worth the visit.

I had the room at the end of the building with the ginormous tub. It was clean, very spacious and simply furnished with a very comfortable bed and pillows. Not gonna lie, I did push my couch up against the door since I was alone but I went to sleep that night and had the most peaceful sleep, waking up to the most beautiful sunrise.

It was too cold for the swimming pool as it is mid October, there were people using the hot tub, but I have one in my room and the sauna so why bother it was so wonderful and the staff was super. Christina was the most wonderful ball.

Even though we arrived after 8 p.m., she waited for us and helped us with the check-in process. Daniela went above and beyond by recommending several great local restaurants that offered fantastic food at a reasonable price. We loved our recent stay at this property! I stayed with my partner on a part of our trip to Italy. The villa is quiet, and it was so fun to stay in an old villa that had been converted to small villas. We never heard our neighbours, and though there were several people staying at the same time it felt very private. Our room was comfortable. We did have a jacuzzi in our room, the only downside which we did not realize the first night is that you have to fill it up, which took about 30 minutes so took some extra planning but was perfect for our second night. The restaurant on the property was absolutely delicious and one of our favourite meals. Breakfast was delivered in a very cute box to our room. The property is beautiful and peaceful. We had a lovely stay!

Old world charm

The charm and architecture of these old world buildings was a special treat. The countryside was idyllic. Staying there is a different world for those used to western, industrialized cultures. And I appreciated that very much.

Check-in receptionists were very friendly and helpful. One of them, Daniela, even offered me a ride to my destination a few kilometers up the road. I was asking about taxis, and for later a time at which she was leaving to go home. I really appreciated that generosity.

A bit like an episode of faulty towers. The staff seemed flustered and communication was very poor. The apartment was not at all as advertised and the member of staff couldn’t even get the door to unlock or lock again. They bought us a can of WD40 to spray into the keyhole and left it on our doorstep to use every time we needed to get in or out of the door. The air conditioning was broken which they didn’t bother to let us know despite it being 35-38 degrees during our stay. The apartment itself was dark and gloomy, which wasn’t helped when we had to draw the curtains during the day so people walking by couldn’t see straight into the bedroom when changing. There were squashed bugs on a couple of the walls and there was a small lizard running around in the bed linen. Despite having a restaurant on site there is no option to go for a normal breakfast and they don’t offer lunch there either. The pool water was quite dirty and the pool area was poorly kept with some patio tiles which flipped up as you stepped on them and un-mowen grass areas. The sun beds were old and didn’t fold flat and each room was allocated 2 beds in a designated area away from the pool. The whole experience was not one we would want to have again.

First, this is a renovated Abbey from the year 1263. It is absolutely beautiful. The rooms are large and most have great views of the surrounding area. Staff was very helpful (Patty and Danielle). Central location in the Trequanda region of Tuscany, but must have a car. Great restaurants, groceries, and other services in nearby Sinalunga. Also close to Montepulciano, Pienza, Montissi and Montalcino. We highly recommend this place.

Absolutely idyllic and magical property. Serene and quiet, away from civilization tucked away in the mountains of Trequanda. Perhaps one of the best resorts I have ever stayed at, not just in Italy, not just in Europe, but in the entire world. Definitely recommend a room with a jacuzzi and sauna, that is the moneymaker right there. The restaurant onsite is world class as well. All in all, 5 out of 5 stars, actually make it 6 out of 5. Definitely recommend and hope to return one day.

Abbadia Sicille is a delightful, gorgeous property, quiet and scenic and tranquil. The accommodations were huge, making it feel much more like we were staying in our own country cottage than a hotel. The on-site restaurant is lovely as well. Fabulous!

The property is absolutely stunning. It is like you are stepping right into a fairy tale. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The restaurant at the hotel was one of the best meals I had in Italy. They also have full kitchens if you want to make your own meals, which we did one night. They have the basics like plates, silverware etc. Just make sure to get some extras like napkins, seasoning and soap to clean up afterwards. There is WiFi but it’s spotty.

We were very happy with the accommodations and location. Since I’ve stayed at Abbadia Sicille twice before, I was expecting the same wonderful breakfasts. We were very disappointed with the food: cold, undercooked eggs, lack of selection of breads/ pastries, and cold coffee. Espresso was hot. Wonderful staff. Wi-Fi was available only in the Reception area which wasn’t always available.

Gorgeous place, but a bit short on amenities

Probably more of a 3.5 star...
This abbey is absolutely gorgeous, and all the grounds are fairytale like. We really appreciated how close it was to towns of Pienza, Montefollonico, Montepulciano, Bagno Vignoni, Montalcino, etc. It is centrally located, and the countryside around it is breathtaking.
The check-in and check-out process was easy and friendly, and staff were very helpful in providing information about local dining, markets and wineries, as well as assisting us with some small needs and requests throughout our stay. We haven't stayed in other B&B properties in Europe before, so we can't compare the breakfast, but we thought it had a lot of variety, with warm options, lots of delicious baked items, so we were happy!
There are some concerns with the rooms - they are pretty bare and basic, so if you are OK with a somewhat ascetic stay, you are in the right place. Our room had a decent kitchen, but all we had for supplies were two coffee cups, two wine glasses, two coffee spoons, a tea kettle and one single pot. That's it! I am not sure why provide a kitchen if it is not stocked with basic cooking supplies, plates, forks, etc..?
The only other major concern was the shower. Yes, it is smaller, like in many European rentals, but the problem was with its fluctuating temperature. The water flowed on a hot/cold repeating cycle, so the only way to take a decent shower was to step under the water during the warm part, and step out during the cold. Rinse, repeat... There must be a problem with the tankless water heater in the kitchen.
The room has fairly cold floors (our stay was in early October) with no rugs, and the extra wool blankets are pretty rough to the touch. It was overall a bit monastic.
But again, we didn't come to Italy to linger in our rental, and its beauty, and proximity to many interesting sites still left us with mostly great memories.

Amazing Hotel in Tuscany

Amazing! Hotel is a 400 year old former monastery in the heart of Tuscany. Our room was huge- large bedroom, living area and kitchenette. Old world charm to the room and very clean, well maintained, and comfortable. Great breakfast with dining area overlooking Tuscan hills. Again, the best part is the location, you're staying in a castle with nobody around you in the middle of Tuscany. Only stayed one nite, but if ever back in this area will stay several days.

Magical setting in Tuscany and great homebase!

This was a really beautiful property and a great homebase while we explored Tuscany. The breakfast that was included was very convenient and tasty. It was also close to many activities that we planned. The host was also very accommodating and provided great recommendations. Will be back again!

A hidden gem

We just loved our stay at Abbadia Sicille, from the beautiful surroundings to the relaxed and helpful staff - most noteably the lady on reception who went out of her way to assist with convinient check-in / out and lots of information during our stay. The hotel itself was delightful, beautiful gardens, quaint breakfast hosted in an old court yard, where growing was the best Wisteria I have seen in years!
There is no on site restaurant, so if you arrive late in the day make sure you bring your own provisions. While the rooms could be finessed, the faults did not detract from what turned out to be a wonderful break in a small friendly hotel in the Tuscany hills.

Basically it was a monastery many centuries ago. In general the suite/room allocated to us was quite disappointing after viewing many great photos while booking here. The location is in the middle of no where. The view of the property is okay, the room and breakfast was below par and relatively pricey among of all the hotels we stayed in Toscana, unfortunately.

A relaxing stay in a stunning setting.

I loved every moment of our stay. Our Family suite was spotless and spacious, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
I felt so relaxed here, the grounds and buildings are just stunning. It is the most beautiful place to stay. The cleaning ladies do such a good job and the lady on reception was friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was average for my husband but my daughter and I have coeliac disease which was not catered for well despite plenty of warning. The breakfast is included in the price so we did not mind but if we had to pay for it on top of the room we would not have been that happy.

All in all a wonderful stay. If in the Tuscan countryside a stay here is a must.

Great facility, awesome view, very romantic and unique experience. The only reason I give a 4 is because this wonderful hotel does not have a receptionist or a customer service desk open all the time. They attend from 8am to 10am and from 4pm to 7pm. If you need help out of these hours, you need to wait. Ahhh forgot to mention, people on this area are very slow and laid back meaning if you are short of time you will be in trouble

Its very dark at night and there is no lighting in the parking area.

Lovely hotel nestled in Tuscan landscape

Management went out of their way to switch our room when we explained we expected a view. Suite #1 met that need completely. A spectacular breakfast is served in a beautiful courtyard and included homemade bread and pastries. Eggs, bacon cheese were also included. My only complaints would be inadequate wifi, and not finding one chair that was comfortable in suite or on patio. They were either sling like chairs or wtought iron with no cushions.

Amazing place steeped in Tuscan History.

Stayed here one night only - it is a spectacular building and really impresses. Rooms are in other buildings and, whilst a little dated, are full of character. The check in lady could not have been nicer and, as we were on honeymoon, provided us with a bottle of wine as well as giving us a large room with jacuzzi! There is a nice pool too. I loved this place as it was so full of character and really gave a sense of being away from everything. For the price, it is a great experience and I would definitely recommend it if you are touring Tuscany.

What a beautiful place to stay. The only downsides are that there were bugs in the room, first day there was no daily upkeep and third the breakfast wasn't nearly as great as the pictures promise. People should really learn to rate breakfasts properly when leaving a review. Other that that our stay was wonderful and its a good location for exploring tuscany.

Full of Character and wonderful staff

We were expecting a closet of a room, but were surprised by a very spacious room complete with a bottle of wine to enjoy. The grounds were wonderful and well kept. The breakfast was delicious with still warm pasteries along side cakes, meats, cheese, fruit and more. Our Hostess also provided great travel and eating tips. One of the best places we stay!

Gostaríamos de ter passado mais tempo nessa acomodação. Pense em um lugar charmoso, com uma infraestrutura maravilhosa e equipe muito educada/prestativa. O lugar em si parece um filme, e o charme do local faz você não querer sair da acomodação. Bem próxima algumas cidades importante na região, o que torna fácil conhecer de carro. Chegamos a ter um problema na calefação da água, porém a equipe foi de prontidão resolver. Gostaria muito de volta para aproveitar a calmaria desse lugar belíssimo

Superbe endroit avec une Daniela très gentille mais une literie à mémoire de forme désastreuse
Je n ai Pas dormi pendant mon séjour et suis ressorti totalement cassé et exténué
C’est dommage car l endroit est très beau

Lugar muito bonito e ótimo para descansar

Linda propriedade. Ficamos em um apartamento super confortável. Só faltou o café da manhã incluído na diária. Outro ponto é que não permitiram a visita à igreja da Abadia. Teve uma missa no dia 06/01. Os sinos tocaram cedo nos acordando. Quando chegamos na porta da igreja estava fechada. Era uma missa privada e nem deixaram uma visita.

Selve stedet ligger øde for seg selv, så man må ha bil.
Ikke mulighet for å gå tur i området pga trafikkert vei.

Purtroppo l'impossibilità di fare colazione presso la struttura penalizza il mio giudizio. L'hotel effettua un servizio di colazione in camera molto deludente, sia per qualità che per varietà di prodotti offerti. E' impensabile comunque aver previsto un servizio di colazione in camera senza che la camera disponga di un tavolo. Il tavolo per fare colazione è presente all'esterno e sinceramente a d'inverno non è tanto piacevole fare colazione la mattina presto all'aperto. Peccato, un posto incantevole.
