The villas/huts were so cool! Nice & clean & quiet! The location was also great! We ate at “My thai” and it was amazing! Only down side was the shower :( It was terrible hahah! Either extremely hot water or freezing cold! And no water pressure! Besides the shower we loved everything else!

Pacific Harbor Villas were a convenient location to experience the area. Cabin like accommodation could have you think you were in your very own Hobbit house. There is a wonderful cafe directly across the st, with amazing breakfast! I caught a organised bus from here up North to a music festival. Lots of other food options nearby.

The individual cabins are pretty much like the Lockwood style construction both inside and out. I guess you could say that they are a bit dated, but nice just the same. It’s quite a nice setting and very quiet. The cabin was equiped with the basics that you would require for a pleasant overnight stay. The water pressure on the shower was disappointing but apart from that it was ok.

This is a great location in Tairua. We had the two bedroom upstairs villa which is a little dated. Huge main bedroom and ensuite. The second bedroom was combined with a lounge so nowhere really to sit for a chat without being in with the kids. The kitchen was really just a couple of cupboards and a bar fridge. But all was very clean, beds comfortable, great location. The managers were lovely. We will stay again.

Rude Owner, bait-and-switch for extra charges !!!!

The Property Manager and the receptionist were incredibly impolite. Despite booking the room for 2 adults and 2 kids, they charged me an additional $40 per room for an extra person. This feels like bait-and-switch tactics. They assigned us a small room suitable for only 3 people and then demanded payment for an extra bed, which they didn't even offer to provide. Both the owner and the receptionist were exceedingly rude and raised their voices, showing no regard for customer service.

They should have sought my permission via email before imposing additional charges. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to pay since I was accompanied by kids.

Their justification for the extra charge was that Expedia wasn't paying them enough, which is unacceptable.

Furthermore, the property was not well-maintained. I have attached a photo showing cigarette butts in the ashtray, indicative of the general lack of cleanliness. The Wi-Fi was unreliable, constantly dropping out.

I will never return to this property and strongly advise against booking here if you don't want to be treated disrespectfully.

A three night stay to explore the coromandel peninsula. The accommodation was clean and comfortable with some quirks. The location was an easy walk to a lovely pacific beach - well worth going. There were a number of popular eateries within a short walk as well as a well stocked 4 square supermarket and 2 liquor stores.

The property was in great location, walking distance to restaurants and beaches. The check-in was very easy and friendly. We called ahead to have an extra bed in the 2-bedroom apartment and it was there when we arrived. For 5 people (3 adult kids and parents) it was a little tight but it was nice to have two bathrooms and the main bedroom was large! The bathrooms were well equipped with toiletries etc…. Very nice and will highly recommend to those staying in Coromandel!

Compact does not equal comfortable

This hotel room was very cramped and small and while it was the peak period for the price it was extremely disappointing. To be given one of the smallest rooms within the complex without off-street parking in front of the room, with a thunderstorm in progress, was not the best welcome. The room was dated and the free wifi was limited to 300mb at a time (we were given 3x300mb). This made us feel less on holiday than if we'd booked a room above the local pub at a substantially lesser price. The bathroom was less than perfect with intermittent water pressure with frequently changing temperature. Kitchenette facilities were not used and they made it clear that if you did cook a spicy meal you would be charged an extra charge (exorbitant) for additional cleaning. Boiling the jug and using the coffee plunger was all that we used and even that turned out to be a most unpleasant experience with the coffee tasted like plastic. There was only one spot to put a suitcase, very little floorspace for anything else and no ironing board or iron in the room.

This hotel relies heavily on its location and resort style layout to make it an appealing place to stay and whilst this is really great the rest is a let down. At nearly $200 per night, it was a disappointment. The overall condition of the interior is very dated. The beds are old and have seen better days, the shower was a pathetic drizzle that hardly gets you wet and every dish we used we had to wash first as it was grubby from the previous guests use. Also there is no sky tv at all and the Freeview channels consisted of a grand total of 4 ! WiFi is also practically non existent. Just pathetic for a hotel with a supposedly 4 star rating. We had the spa room, which whilst lovely to enjoy, once you fill it to the minimum required to operate the jets, you have no hot water left for anything else. The list goes on with silly little laminated signs telling you what you can’t do and can’t use.
This property is under new management and whilst they do supply a friendly and helpful manner when checking in (although tried to put the price up even though already booked online) the hotels condition and out of date facilities let’s it down. Would not stay again until it had an upgrade. Not worth the money charged and definitely not a 4 star property.

Best hotel in Tairua

The property is in the centre of the main street, with water views on one side, comprising of standalone units (small chalets). Be prepared for a warm friendly welcome from the Managers, and the same friendly exchange whenever they see you! Each unit is private, nicely positioned with carpark, and has a small deck with a couple of deck chairs and table. Enter inside to a kitchen with full stove, generous size room with dining table, lounge chair and double bed (or 1 singles), and a separate shower/toilet area. Its very comfortable, very clean and rustic. A great base for any holiday or activity. Free WiFi!

We're has to rush getting accommodation for one night in the Coromandel and this looked nice online. Got the king suite, which is the larger room. It was winter and we're walked into a freezing cold upstairs room of one of the cabins. There furniture is dated - the chairs hang through, the TV is about 20 years old. It was in a convenient location and the staff were friendly. But we paid less for a brand new luxurious 5 star B&B near Hobbiton than we paid here for a place claiming 4 stars, which shouldn't really have more than 3. To be fair: their heater, once turned on, managed to warm up the whole room nice and cosy for the night.
